‘Cannibal’ Luis Suarez back home

 

Luis Suarez flew home to Uruguay on Friday after being thrown out of the Soccer World Cup in Brazil and banned from soccer for four months for biting Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini in a Group D match earlier this week.

 

The Liverpool Striker was met by President Jose Mujica when he landed at a military base next to Uruguay’s main airport before dawn, an air force spokesperson said.

 

Mujica had joined hundreds of fans who gathered at the airport on Thursday night to show their support for Suarez but they left after a few hours when it became clear he had not yet left Brazil.

After his arrival on Friday, Suarez, his wife and other family members were driven to a home he has in the small coastal town of Solymar.

 

Soccer’s world governing body FIFA ruled on Thursday that the 27-year-old star striker cannot play in Uruguay’s next nine competitive matches and suspended him from all soccer-related activity for four months.

The punishment immediately ended his involvement in the World Cup in Brazil, with Uruguay due to face Colombia in a round of 16 tie on Saturday.

“He is totally distraught. He never thought the punishment would be so severe,” said Alejandro Balbi, a member of the Uruguayan Football Association’s board and Suarez’s lawyer.

FIFA ruled that Suarez bit defender Chiellini during Uruguay’s final group match on Tuesday, as his side knocked Italy out of the tournament with a 1-0 victory.

Suarez’s ban is the longest ever imposed at a World Cup. It means he is unlikely to appear in competitive matches for his country until 2016 and he will also miss the first two months of the Premier League season in England.

 

Although it was the third time Suarez has been banned for biting, his team mates and most Uruguayans jumped to defend him, believing the punishment was excessive.

“There are different standards. That’s what infuriates and hurts us most,” Mujica said on Thursday night in an appearance on a TV show hosted by former Argentine star Diego Maradona, who also said FIFA had gone too far and was treating Suarez like a criminal.

Suarez had missed Uruguay’s opening match of the tournament, a 3-1 defeat to Costa Rica, as he recovered from knee surgery but returned to score both goals in the side’s 2-1 victory over England.

 

 

Liverpool To Sell Luis Suarez To Barcelona For £80million

Latest reports coming out of England suggest that Liverpool are ready to sell Luis Suarez to Barcelona for £80million as they began moves to revamp their attack.

Dailymail reports that with Barcelona having made clear that Suarez’s four month worldwide ban from football does not impact on their intentions to sign him, Liverpool have wasted no time in moving to offload Suarez and find the right replacements.


Though Liverpool are stunned by the length of the ban Suarez received from FIFA on Thursday for biting Giorgio Chiellini, there is an acceptance now is the right time to let the striker leave after he embroiled them in controversy once again, although it is not known how much Barca would be prepared to pay.
It was gathered that the Anfield club have concluded plans to make Adam Lallana a replacement for the Uruguayan as Southampton is believed to have finally accepted a £25million offer for the England international, four weeks after receiving it from Anfield officials.


Liverpool have also launched a bid to sign Lazar Markovic from Benfica. The Serbia international is one of the hottest young properties in European football and has a £20million release clause in his contract.

Reports have it that Suarez’s lawyer Alejandro Balbi was in Barcelona on Friday to discuss his client’s future when new Barca head coach Luis Enrique maintained there would be no issue about going for the 27-year-old.
He compared Suarez to the legendary former Barca and Bulgaria forward Hristo Stoichkov and said: ‘Stoichkov deliberately trod on a referee but he was still considered a great player.’

Montevideo - Uruguay striker Luis Suarez has been unfairly victimised in his "barbaric" expulsion from the Soccer World Cup for biting, his disconsolate grandmother said on Thursday.

"Everyone knows what they've done to Luis. They wanted him out of the World Cup. Perfect, they did it. They chucked him out of there like a dog," a sobbing Lila Piriz Da Rosa told Reuters from Suarez's birthtown Salto in north-west Uruguay.

Piriz, who has 22 grand-children, said football authorities had been watching Suarez from the outset.

"This was on purpose," she said of the sanctions given to the brilliant but volatile Suarez, who has been punished three times now for biting and once for racism.

Earlier on Thursday, world soccer's governing body FIFA suspended him from all football-related activity for four months and banned him from playing in Uruguay's next nine competitive games for biting Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini

"They had their eyes on him to see what he does. It's barbaric what they've done to him," Piriz added.

Suarez, who had a tough and humble infancy in Salto some 500 kilometres from the capital Montevideo, wears his family affections on his sleeve and was flying home on Thursday.

He moved to Montevideo when he was six.

"I'm his granny and I love my boy loads,!" Piriz said. "Please don't ask me any more."

About 500 fans gathered outside Montevideo's Carrasco international airport to express solidarity with Suarez and chant his name. Some had been waiting for hours, waving Uruguay flags, posters of Suarez and replicas of the World Cup trophy.

Airport authorities said, however, that he was to be whisked out privately and to his home in the coastal resort of Solymar, about 40 kilometres outside Montevideo.

Jealous? Woman Stabs Husband's Mistress

Temitope Ajayi, a 28-year-old housewife in Ogun has been arrested and dragged to court after she was accused of assaulting her husband’s mistress.

According to Premium Times report, Temitope stabbed the victim, Ganiyat Yusuf on the head and also poured urine on her for cooking for her husband while she was away.
She was arraigned on Thursday at a Magistrate Court in Isabo, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Addressing the court, the police prosecutor, Banji Sangotokun said the offence was committed at about 2p.m on June 24 in Adigbe area of Abeokuta.

He said the victim and the accused were neighbours. Temitope had left her husband’s house for his family home where she was taking care of her father-in-law who was sick. While away, she got news that Ganiyat was cooking for her husband.
She was said to have taken offence and this led to the assault on Ganiyat.
The prosecutor disclosed that the victim was hospitalized following the assault, adding that the offence is contrary to and punishable under section 335 of the criminal code laws of Ogun State.

However, Temitope pleaded not guilty to the one count charge of stabbing levelled against her.
Presiding over the matter, the magistrate, Anthony Araba, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 and one surety in like sum, while adjourning the case to August 25.

Pastor Refuses To Wed Couple Because Bride’s Wedding Dress Is ‘Too Sexy’

Apostle Michael Canty of The Truth Ministries Holiness Church recently angered an entire wedding party and might have damaged his new ministry’s reputation after he refused to allow a bride wed her husband on her wedding day because he felt her dress was too sexy.

Lisa Washington said ‘she’s never been more embarrassed than Saturday’ when a local pastor refused to officiate and allow the bride to wed her husband on her wedding day in his facility. Both families were present and the food was waiting to be served at the bride’s aunt house.

Family members flew and drove long distances to be present for the couples special day. Upset and frustrated, guest at the wedding practically ‘begged’ the leaders of the church to reconsider but to no avail, not a budge.
“I can’t believe this! I flew here to attend my cousin’s wedding and now I have to put up with this crap. Now this so-called pastor doesn’t want to come out of his office” said the cousin of the bride.
The wedding scheduled Saturday, June 10th, was scheduled for 3pm. At 2pm, the pastor greeted the bride and groom when he noticed the bride’s dress. According to the bride’s mother, the pastor jokingly asked ‘where is the other half of the dress?’ Not thinking anything of it, the family laughed it off and continued applying make-up to the bride. Around 2:30pm the pastor asked a leader of the church to ask the bride and the family about the other part of her dress. The bride informed the leader ‘this is it’. The leader reported the news to the pastor and then the pastor informed face-to-face the bride and groom at separate times he could not perform the wedding with the bride in her selected dress. The pastor told the bride she would have to cover up her bosom area and find a way to add length to the dress. The bride informed the pastor there is no way to accomplish this with so short notice and she has to wear her dress. The pastor let her know, he would not perform the ceremony then walked back to his office.
The wedding party tried many times to change the pastor’s decision but their efforts was ineffective. Around 4:15pm guest at the wedding were growing impatience and were looking for answers for the delay. When they were told the reason for the delay around 4:35pm their impatience change to anger and disbelief.
After hearing how the bride was crying her eyes out in back, a minister who was a guest at the wedding offered to perform the ceremony. When the minister asked the pastor for permission to perform the ceremony, the pastor told him ‘no’ and expressed to him how his request was disrespectful.
AmericaPreachers.com asked the bride and groom for pictures of the dress but instead was
sent an email with a link of the exact dress worn by a professional model from the companies website. The bride did mention, ‘there were small alterations made to the dress to fit more desirably to my [bride] vision.’ “I’m a unique person, I chose this dress because it’s different than the traditional wedding gown you see at every wedding” the bride said.
Two days later the couple is not married and is currently looking into options to recoup money their family lost with travel, food, and other expenses.
The Truth Ministries Holiness Church was established 14 months ago and currently rent a converted shoe store for worship services. Calls to Apostle Canty and Truth Ministries were not returned. Neither the bride or groom were members of the church.

Man Rapes 17-Year-Old Girl, Draws Blood From Her Private Part

A man, Tom Edumun, has been arrested for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl and extracting blood from her private part at Kwata Zawan, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Premium Times reports that the victim of the incident, name not disclosed to protect her identity, narrated her ordeal to journalists at the Nigeria Union of Journalist, NUJ, press centre in Jos on Thursday, 26 June, 2014.
According to the minor, who is a final year secondary school student, Mr Edumun, who is a co-tenant with her father, had made several attempts to rape her and later succeeded in March.
She explained: “He had been asking me to sleep with him but I kept refusing, until that fateful day, sometime in March, when my father travelled to the village and nobody was at home. He forced himself on me and had sex with me in our room. Thereafter, he threatened me with a knife, that if I told anyone he would kill me,” the terrified girl said of her alleged attacker who is married with two children
“After that day, he called me to his car and drove me to a house far away from our compound. He took me to a room where two other men were waiting. They laid me down and he (Mr. Edumun) used a strange instrument to draw blood from my private parts. The three of them were holding knives. They threatened to kill me if I told my father.

“It kept disturbing me. I was becoming afraid. I could not face my father and tell him; so one day I told my younger brother, Tonzum, about all that the man had done to me. I wrote a note to my father, and then ran away to Abuja to inform my aunt. She was the one who called my father and told him. He then asked me to come back home here in Jos,” the victim narrated.
According to the victim, the first of five children, she often went on errand for her rapist and his wife.
“I was very close to the wife. When this incident happened, I confided in his wife but she did nothing about it instead she threatened to beat me up. She harassed my stepmom and Dad,” she said.
The victim’s father, Gonzuk Emanuel, who is a teacher at Government Secondary School, Gyel, said he had reported the matter to the (B) Division of the Nigerian Police at Bukuru, Jos south last Wednesday.
While responding to why he took action three months after the incident, Mr. Gonzuk said he had earlier reported the matter to their landlord and later to the village head, but the matter could not be settled privately because the alleged rapist had failed to cooperate with the community leaders.
It was gathered from the father, who remarried after the mother of the victim died, that Mr. Edumun and his wife had threatened to kill his daughter.
He said the suspect was arrested by the police on Wednesday, 25 June, 2014 and detained.
Meanwhile, efforts to speak with the police at the station where the culprit was detained proved unsuccessful.

Students, Lecturers Flee UNIJOS Over Bomb Scare

It was reported that an alleged suicide bomber was sighted who was apprehended by the students as he tried to enter the premises, according to Punch.
As a result of the alarm raised by the students, it caused pandemonium in the university as people ran for safety.

However some students summoned up courage to capture the alleged bomber, who was almost beaten to a pulp before he was rescued by the school security.
This is coming less than 24 hours after bomb blast rocked Abuja which killed 21 people and injured 17.
Immediately the news went round, even students and teachers in lecture halls thought it wise to abandon their books as they took to their heels for dear life.
It would be recalled that on May 20, a twin bomb explosions rocked Jos which left over 200 people dead and scores injured in the blast.
Seven University of Jos students were also killed in the bomb blast.
Following the Jos bomb blast in May, it was reported of another bomb scare which forced residents to remain indoors as schools, banks were shut down. (naij.com)

The actress shockingly claims that Kwadwo Safo’s family did not support the marriage from the onset. The family of her husband failed to show up for the marriage ceremony and have openly showed their disapproval and lack of support for the marriage.

Juliet also said that; the marriage ended over a year and half ago and another reason for the break up was that – Kwadwo Safo got involved with another lady who was as fair as she (Juliet) and competed for the love and attention of her husband. 9-Year-Old Girl Stabs 5-Year-Old To Death In Bayelsa

A 9-year-old girl escaped being lynched by an angry mob after she stabbed a 5-year-old girl to death in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State on Monday, June 23.

According to PUNCH report, the suspect stabbed the victim with a knife at Igbogene, on the outskirts of Yenagoa metropolis, after they had a minor argument.
The reason for the killing is yet unknown as residents have given two different versions of what happened.
The first version, according to a source who pleaded anonymity was that the suspect was possessed and under witchcraft attack. As they were both playing, an argument ensued and the 9-year-old went for a knife and stabbed the victim three times and she realized her victim was bleeding profusely, she attempted to run. Residents who heard the little girls cry for help had rushed to scene, attempting to revive her but she’d died already before they could help her.
The second version indicated that the murder was as a result of a quarrel between the suspect and the deceased, who were playing before the ugly incident.
It was gathered from sources that the deceased was allegedly taunting the suspect, who became uncontrollably angry and used a knife they were playing with to stab the victim who died on the spot.
Some angry residents reportedly attempted to retaliate by killing the suspect but she was saved by the policemen at Igbogene police station who intervened and she was whisked away by residents who were not in support of jungle justice.
An eyewitness simply identified as Ebitimi, said the aggrieved residents moved to the station where the suspect was taken to for safety, demanding her release to them but the police refused.
A reinforcement headed by the Divisional Police Officer of Akenfa Police Division in Yenagoa stormed the police station, dispersed the rampaging residents and rescued the suspect.
The suspect is now cooling off in a cell at Akenfa Police station, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
Confirming the incident, Spokesman for the Bayelsa State Police Command, Mr. Alex Akhigbe said the matter is under investigation.

Tragedy - Suleiman Bisalla, New Telegraph’s Managing Editor, Dies in Abuja Bomb Blast

The Managing Editor (North) of the New Telegraph Newspaper, Alhaji Suleiman Bisalla, is among the 21 persons confirmed dead in Wednesday’s bomb blast at the EMAB plaza in Abuja. He was 46 years old.

Bisalla left the Abuja office of the New Telegraph newspaper at about 3.30pm Wednesday for the EMAB plaza to go and fix his phone, where he met his untimely death.

Bisalla’s corpse has been deposited at the Maitama General Hospital, where he and others killed in the blast were taken to. Bisalla’s younger brother, Mohammed, who was the only person allowed into the hospital among many that trooped to the hospital, confirmed the death.

He was allowed into the mortuary where he saw the lifeless body of his elder brother.

Bisalla, a former Deputy Editor with the Daily Trust Newspaper in Abuja, joined the New Telegraph newspaper late last year.

The late Managing Editor hailed from Gindiri in Mangul Local Government Area of Plateau State.

He holds master’s degree in International Relations, which he obtained from the University of Jos.

Bisalla was married with children.

How A Pastor, Wife Escaped Abuja Bomb Blast By Air Breath

It must have been the grace of God that saved Pastor Avanti Jonas and his wife, Alice who escaped the bomb explosion that rocked the federal capital territory yesterday leaving scores dead and many injured. It was a gory scene as rescue workers had to rush victims to the Abuja general hospital in droves.

National Enquirer gathered that the Pastor and his wife who got married last year, 2013 had gone to pick just few stuff at the popular, Emab Plaza which was the original target of the suicide bombers before it escalated and spread to Banex. And since the couple wasn’t buying so much, they agreed that the wife sit back in front of their Toyota 4 x 4 truck which was parked directly opposite the plaza while the Pastor- hubby quickly dashed in.

And no sooner the Pastor left the shopping center than the bomb exploded and the man of God escaped by the whiskers thinking that his wife had been caught in the web of the disaster. According to an eye witness account, the pastor had even started mourning his wife, crying uncontrollably at the sight of a corpse which looked like his wife until he saw the watch on the woman left wrist, he was later convinced the corpse was not his wife.

Meanwhile, the wife too was so confused and thought her husband had perished in the bomb blast but as fate would have it, they finally saw each other and gave thanks to the Almighty. The wife, we gathered had to run for dear life by squeezing herself out of the window of the truck, the windshield got shattered and the truck was almost a total wreck. The couple who run Hephzibah church located in Kado area of Abuja has since been full of praise for the amazing wonder and second chance the Lord has given them.

German Newspaper Claims Ghana Drew With Germany Because Of Their Juju Man (PHOTO)

This man, popularly known as Kpa who stays in Nima, a die-hard Ghanaian supporter who has been supporting Ghana at every world cup made news when he painted his face and dressed like a voodoo man to support the Ghana Black Stars. He was all on social media after their first match as a juju man sent over to Brazil by the Sports Ministry.

After their tough match with Germany which ended up in a draw, a German newspaper decided to feature him and attribute their good play to the mere supporter.
