Committee calls for submission of Nigerian movies for 2015 Oscars

The Nigerian Oscars Selection Committee has called for the submission of movies for possible inclusion in the Best Foreign Language category of the Academy Awards, otherwise known as The Oscars.
The committee says the opportunity is open to Nigerian film-makers whose films relate to the country and are predominantly in a language other than English.

Such films must have been released in Nigeria between October 2013 and September 2014, and publicly screened at the cinemas or on television.
The criteria for selection include originality of story as well as good directing, acting, cinematography and sound.

The deadline for submission is Wednesday, July 16, 2014.
This is the first time the Nigerian movie industry has got an invitation to submit since the awards began 86 years ago.
