JUST IN: FG Confirms Two New Cases Of Ebola

At a press conference in Lagos yesterday, Jide Idris, the state’s Health Commissioner, told journalists that five new suspected Ebola virus cases were brought to the isolation ward of the Yaba Mainland Hospital in Lagos on Tuesday, with two of these 5 cases being secondary contacts linked to Patrick Sawyer-the Liberian-American who imported the virus into the country.

But the Minister of Health, Onyebuchi Chukwu later issue a statement to deny the claim, saying reports of five new cases “should be disregarded” as he alone had the authority to announce confirmed cases of disease epidemics. Speaking further on Friday, the minister said the number of deaths from Ebola remained five and while the number of those who had recovered from the virus similarly remained five.

“Nigeria has now recorded the first two cases of secondary contacts with Ebola.
They are spouses of the late primary contacts,” he said. “This now brings to four, the number of those under treatment at the isolation ward for Ebola.
“In all, there are 14 recorded cases of Ebola in Nigeria.” Chukwu also said that 67 persons under surveillance had completed the 21 days incubation period for Ebola, and had been discharged. “As of today, there are 213 people under surveillance,” he added.

He also disclosed that the six persons under surveillance in Enugu had not developed symptoms of Ebola, but they are “still being monitored”.

“The federal government, working with the Lagos state government and other partners, will continue to maintain vigilance, continue to strengthen our containment activities and wishes to reassure the Nigerian public and the global community that efforts will not relent until the very last case of Ebola Virus Disease is seen in Nigeria,” he added.

FG Pays Allowance Owed To Nigeria Students On Scholarship In Russia

Students on FG scholarship begging for food in Russia
Following the publication of a report by Punch few days ago, exposing the failure of the Federal Government to pay the 8 months allowance of Nigeria students on scholarship in Russia, the Federal Government has now paid the allowances owed.
The over 322 Nigerian students are on the Bilateral Educational Agreement scholarship in Russia.
Following the report, reporters gathered on Thursday that the students had since started getting credit alerts on their respective bank accounts.

One of the affected students, Moyosore Ojuri, who is in her second year studying Metallurgical Engineering at the Volgograd State Technical University, Russia, told our correspondent on the telephone that the sum of $4,450 had been paid into her bank account.
The money, she explained, included $4,000 meant for her stipends from January to August; $200 for annual medicals and health insurance, and $250 covering her annual protective clothing.
Ojuri said she hoped that the Federal Government would begin paying them their allowances as at when due and save them from undue hardships.
“Before now, the Federal Government owed us from January to August. But now they have paid us everything. I can pay my accumulated debts and I am sure that I won’t be sent packing from the hostel over unpaid accommodation fees,” she said.
One of the student leaders, Akinola Akindamola, a post-graduate student of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Volgograd State Technical University, Russia, stated that he and other student leaders were going round to ensure that all of them, especially the new students, had received their allowances.
Akindamola, who is the President of the Senate Committee of Association of Nigerian Scholarship Students in Russia, said, “The payment of the money is in process and I am confident that by the end of today, we would all have been paid. The least problem we want now is to be financially handicapped. We appreciate the Federal Government for their prompt response.”
When contacted, the Director, Press and Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Education, Abuja, Mr. Olu Lipede, confirmed that the Federal Government had paid the students all their entitlements.

Lolita Richi: I'm the Only REAL Human Barbie!

Lolita Richi Picture

Lolita Richi, the latest Human Barbie, says she is the only REAL Human Barbie.
Allow her to explain. You see, the latest human aspiring to emulate a plastic toy's rendering of beauty says that her striking appearance is all-natural.
The irony is thick, as no "natural" teen strives to be a doll. But Lolita Richi says that unlike other hopefuls, she can reach this pinnacle with no surgery!
Lolita Richi: Teen Barbie
The Ukrainian-born Lolita wears a 32F bra, has a 20-inch waist, and besides not having surgery to achieve her look, says she doesn't even diet.
“I have a naturally gorgeous figure so I don’t even have to diet,” the 16-year-old Richi tells the Daily Mail, apparently not lacking for self-confidence here.
The 5’4'' teen went on to diss Valeria Lukyanova, her fellow Ukrainian who laid claim to the Human Barbie title last year, because she's like SO FAKE!
“I think I’ve achieved this image better than anyone else. I’m the ultimate vamp woman,” Richi tells the newspaper. “I haven’t even heard of Valeria Lukyanova.”
Oooh. Human Barbie burn.

Obviously, Lolita concedes, she uses a push-up bra, blue contacts, different wigs, and gobs of makeup in her many photos. Just no filters or Photoshop.
Richi’s snapshots are captured by her mother, Anya, herself only 33. Yes, the new Human Barbie's mother is only 33 years old. And brimming with pride.
“My mom’s proud of how I look,” Richi said, adding that. “If I can become famous for my appearance in some way. I will be extremely happy.” (hollywoodgossip)

Miley Cyrus BANNED from the Dominican Republic Due to Immoral Concert Acts

In America, Miley Cyrus is free to share photos of her five-foot bongs and of herself peeing in the woods until her heart is content.

But the rules are very different in the Dominican Republic and that nation has now made headlines for banning Cyrus from performing there.

The young artist had been scheduled to take her Bangerz tour to the capital of Santo Domingo on September 13.
Miley Cyrus Crotch Close-Up

The Dominican Republic government commission, however, released a statement yesterday that says Cyrus often "undertakes acts that go against morals and customs, which are punishable by Dominican law."

It's unclear whether officials are referring to Miley riding around on a hot dog, grinding on the hood of a car, Twerking with tiny people or what.

Tickets ranging from $27 to $370 for the concert have been on sale since July. We don't know whether fans who purchased them will get their money back.

In the past, the commission has banned songs it considers vulgar from the airwaves, including some by Calle 13 of Puerto Rico.

No word yet from anyone in Miley’s camp regarding this ban. The artist is scheduled to finish up her latest tour in Perth on October 23.

OMG: Read What a Callous Mother Did to Her One Year Old Baby in Abuja

A year-old baby boy was found in a bush where her mother dumped him.

According to sources, some passersby picked up the baby after they were attracted by his cry in the bush where his mother dumped him.

At the time of picking up the baby, some insects had already started biting his fingers. The baby had since been taken to the Phase 4 Police Station in Kubwa.

The story was later confirmed by Chief Superintendent Surajudeen Ayobami, the Divisional Police Officer who said that the baby was brought to the station by a Good Samaritan. He also confirmed that the baby is now at the Kubwa General Hospital, where he is currently receiving medical attention.

The DPO also said investigation is currently going on to unravel the mystery surrounding the dumping of the baby boy.
I feel bad when I hear things like this, its true that life can be too difficult sometimes but doing that to an innocent child.......hey!!! is pure wickedness. If you cant care for him leave him at the doors of an orphanage or with a church...at least the child will have a chance of survival....That baby have the right to live!!
Do not bring them out when you are not ready.

Ebola: Patrick Sawyer’s Wife, Decontee Apologises To Nigerians and The Adadevohs (READ)

Widow of the late Patrick Sawyer, the man who brought Ebola disease to Nigeria, Mrs. Decontee Sawyer has expressed her sadness over the untimely death of Dr Ameyo Stella Adedavoh, the female doctor who attended to Sawyer.

Responding to an email sent to her by Leadership Newspaper, Mrs. Sawyer added that it was painful that her late husband caused so much damage in both his country Liberia and Nigeria with the Ebola virus.

Mrs Sawyer said: “I share the pains that the family members of the Nigerian doctor are going through. It is just a pity that Patrick had to cause this damage both in Liberia and Nigeria.”

Mrs Sawyer, a resident of Minnesota, USA, apologised for the seeming heartlessness of her open letter, asking Nigerians to be mindful of her daughters, and not curse the Sawyer name, even if they curse Patrick Sawyer.

The US-based widow of the first Ebola victim in Nigeria opened up on their private life, and how Mr Sawyer moved in with another woman in Liberia, abandoning her while she was seven-month pregnant.
She blamed what she termed ‘bigmanism’ for the decayed health system of Liberia and the high number of deaths in the country.

“I want to reach out to them and express how deeply saddened and sorry I am for their loss and their pain. I do apologise if my words have cost anyone who is grieving more pain. I fall on my knees and ask God for his healing power for all of those who are still infected with Ebola. I pray for all of the families whose loved ones were taken away by this merciless killer Ebola, especially those affected by Patrick’s actions.
“Ebola didn’t start with Patrick in Liberia, as we both know. Ebola was in Liberia from a traveller from Guinea since February of this year. The government knew about it and did nothing. Many Liberians, including me, called out to the government then to close the borders. They didn’t do so until one of their own, Patrick (Sawyer), died in July.

“Many people died before Patrick and their lives were just as important. That is my frustration. Ebola didn’t have to go to Nigeria, Africa’s most populated country, had the Liberian government taken drastic actions sooner. I, too, have family members and friends in Nigeria, and now they are at risk because of Patrick’s actions.

“In spite of my anger and disappointment with him, I don’t believe that he did this with evil intent (I could be wrong). I believe his actions were that of a desperate man. And sad for everyone involved, Nigeria was closer than the U.S. This is just my take on what he could have been thinking (of course, I could be wrong).
“My regret is that I was so caught up in my own pain and frustration, that I neglected to see the pain of the innocent people both in Liberia and Nigeria who are affected by Patrick’s actions. For that, I am deeply sorry. The last thing I wanted to do was to cause them pain.
It is a pain I know. It is a pain I don’t want them to have.”

Decontee, a mother of three, further said that she couldn’t apologize for Patrick’s actions because she did not cause them, stressing that the late Ebola victim did a lot of things she did not like. She added that: “Going to Nigeria was one of them. His act was one of a desperate man. Many Nigerians and Liberians are affected because of that act of desperation,” she said.

The Widow of late Patrick is campaigning against Ebola in the United States and trying to raise funds for patients in Liberia.

OMG: See What Liberian Soldiers are Doing to Residents of Ebola Slum - Graphic Photos

Liberian soldiers opened fire on residents of a slum in their country's capital city today after it was locked down in an effort to contain the spread of Ebola virus.

According to DailyMail, people ran screaming as soldiers from the country's Ebola Task Force brutally enforced a quarantine of Monrovia's West Point district ordered by the country's president last night.

See photos below:
The chaos in Monrovia erupted after protesters surrounded the home of the West Point's commissioner, Miatta Flowers, pictured below, blaming her for the decision to turn their neighbourhood into an open-air isolation ward.

Soldiers carrying assault rifles lashed out at residents with telescopic truncheons and at least one man was shot as a security team moved in to evacuate Mrs. Flowers. A resident of the West Point district told the Associated Press by phone that security forces were firing into the air to disperse crowds angry over the quarantine measures.

West Point Commissioner Miata Flowers is escorted out of the slum by members of Liberia's Ebola Task Force.

Some relatives of Mrs Flowers are led away from the slum, which has been sealed off by soldiers and police.

Over the weekend also, a mob attacked and looted an Ebola screening centre, accusing officials of bringing sick people from all over Monrovia into their neighbourhood. Dozens of people waiting to be screened fled in the chaos. Looters made off with items, including bloody sheets and mattresses that could further spread the virus.

In many areas of the capital, meanwhile, dead bodies have been in the streets for hours, sometimes days, even though residents asked that the corpses be picked up by health ministry workers wearing protective gear.

Riot police and soldiers have now sealed off West Point with makeshift barricades built from piles of wood and barbed wire. Ferries to the area have been halted, and a coast guard boat was patrolling the waters around the peninsula. At least 50,000 people live on the half-mile-long point, which is one of the poorest and most densely populated neighbourhoods of the capital. Sanitation is poor even in the best of times, and defecation in the streets and beaches is a major problem. Mistrust of authorities is rampant and many people live without electricity or access to clean water.

Liberia's strict new measures came as medical authorities there said three infected doctors treated with an experimental drug were showing signs of recovery, although it was not certain if it was thanks to the drug. Announcing the quarantine, as well as a wider curfew, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf said last night:
'We have been unable to control the spread due to continued denials, cultural burying practices, disregard for the advice of health workers and disrespect for the warnings by the government.'As a result and due to the large population concentration the disease has spread widely in Monrovia and environs. May God bless us all and save the state,' she later added.
