Both of us have been living on the street since then.”

Malala Yousafzai Named Youngest-Ever Nobel Peace Prize Winner

Malala Yousafzai has become the youngest person to ever win the Nobel Peace Prize.
The announcement, made this morning, came nearly two years to the day since Yousafzai was shot in the head by a masked gunman who targeted her on a school bus in Pakistan.
Yousafzai had penned an anonymous diary for BBC Urdu in 2009, detailing the conditions under Taliban rule in northwest Pakistan. A year later, she was the subject of a New York Times documentary, placing her in the spotlight and, tragically, putting her on the Taliban hit list.

Physicians removed a bullet from Yousafzai's head before she was flown the U.K. for more surgery. The 17-year now lives in Birmingham in the U.K.
Ever since the shooting, Yousafzai has been a brave and tireless activist for education.
She addressed the United Nations on her 16th birthday and also co-authored a book, titled “I Am Malala: The Story of the Girl Who Stood Up for Education and was Shot by the Taliban."
Said Thorbjorn Jagland, chairman of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, via statement today:
"Despite her youth, Malala Yousafzai has already fought for several years for the right of girls to education and has shown by example that children and young people too can contribute to improving their own situations.
"This she has done under the most dangerous circumstances. Through her heroic struggle she has become a leading spokesperson for girls' rights to education."
As Nobel Peace Prize winner, Yousafzai is jointly honored this year along with Kailash Satyarthi, an Indian child rights campaigner.

Simple Solutions To Shedding Pounds

There are few secrets when it comes to the basics of how to lose weight.
But, for a task whose fundamentals are so basic and so universally recognized,
Fitness dance
slimming down is a goal that eludes a great many adults.  What are the surest ways to shed pounds?

The big two are known across the globe: Diet and exercise. The third key, though, is one that everyone will need in order to accomplish their mission of sticking to the first two—discipline.

Stay hydrated by drinking lots of water. It’s good for you, and it has neither a calorie nor a gram of sugar or fat. If you drink milk, drop down a notch from what you’re used to drinking: If you drink whole milk, reduce that to 2 percent milk, if you like 2 percent, drink 1 percent instead.
As far as diet is concerned, reducing the amount of sugar, fat and sodium in your diet will go a long way toward reducing your weight. You might be eating less fat and less sodium and still have trouble losing weight. In that event, pay special attention not only to what you eat, but to what you drink. Sugar and/or corn syrup is such a prevalent ingredient in so many of our beverages that even if we’re minding our diets by cutting down on the burgers, fries, salty chips and sweet desserts, we might still be failing at fat-loss by continuing to drink sugary sodas and fruit drinks.

In terms of exercise, aerobic activity like swimming, walking, jogging or bicycling is great for cutting calories, and it’s beneficial to your cardiovascular system, too. If you really don’t like to sweat, go for a walk. If you live close to a downtown area, walk to town instead of driving. Dedicate yourself to at least a half-hour of exercise a day. And if you’re stuck behind a desk in an office five days a week, make sure you frequently get up, stretch your legs, walk around and get your blood circulating.

Whatever steps you take in terms of either diet or exercise to embark on a weight-loss program, you’re going to need something else: Commitment. It takes a world of self-discipline to push yourself to exercise every day, or to push away that second piece of pie for dessert, or that salty bag of potato chips to accompany your noontime sandwich.

Remind yourself that achieving goals takes discipline. Shedding pounds is as much about having the right attitude as it is about eating the right food or partaking in the right amount of physical activity.

Goodluck!!

Abomination: Father Impregnates His 16-Year-Old Daughter In Oyo

A 42-year-old randy father, Segun (surname withheld) who allegedly impregnated his only daughter (name withheld), a 16-year-old JSS 2 student in Igbeti, Oyo State is now in prison custody for committing the abominable act.

It was gathered that the story began on December 1, 2013 at Gboro compound, Igbeti, when the suspect was said to have asked the victim to come and live with him. Thirteen years earlier, he had divorced the mother of the victim, who was about three then. After the divorce, the mother took custody of the victim and then remarried. Much later, the victim began living with her father.

Continuing the story, Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Mr Kola Sodipo revealed that on the fateful night, Segun demanded that the victim should undress. She refused and attempted to escape. He threatened her with a cutlass and then raped her, unconcerned about the excruciating pain she felt, being a virgin. The evil father continued the wicked act thereafter, and this prompted the girl to report to her stepmother who lived in a different house but she didn’t take the matter seriously due to the shameful nature of the act.

Recounting how her ordeal started and what transpired after, the victim told Sunday Sun: “I was living with my mother until 2013 when my father asked me to come and live with him. On December 25, 2013 my father woke me up and asked me to remove my clothes but I refused. He drew a cutlass and threatened to kill me if I didn’t do his bidding. I removed my clothes and he forcefully had sex with me. He was the first man to sleep with me because I had never had sex before then. I reported the ugly incident to one of his two wives who is a nurse and she promised to ask him but I don’t know whether she asked him or not.

“In March 2014, he did the same thing again and I ran to the house of his second wife and reported to her. She asked me to swear to an oath with the Bible but I refused since I knew I was speaking the truth. I started sleeping in her apartment. In April, he came and asked me to return to his apartment to do some things for him but I refused to go. His second wife, however, put pressure on me to answer my father’s call as he wanted me to do some things for him at home. I followed him after much pressure. “During Easter celebration on April 18, 2014 he had sex with me again. All this while I didn’t know I was pregnant because I had my last menstruation in December 2013. My stepmother suspected that I was pregnant and took me to a clinic at Igbeti where a test showed I was pregnant.”

Sunday Sun gathered that the matron of the clinic informed the victim’s grandfather that his son had impregnated the daughter. The suspect denied the allegation and began maltreating the girl. On what followed thereafter, the victim said: “The case was reported at the police station on April 30, 2014 and I started living with my paternal grandfather. I was taken to General Hospital Igbeti, where my mother pleaded with the doctor to abort the pregnancy, but the doctor said he would not do it. After I delivered the baby and my grandmother was told the baby looks like my father, my father ran away.” She explained further: “When the pregnancy was confirmed, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and the Divisional Crime Officer (DCO) were the ones who purchased the baby clothes and other things needed. They also paid the hospital bill. I am appealing to the public to come to my assistance and help me finish my education. I am in JSS 2.”
According to Sodipo, an ultrasound scan done on May 1, 2014 at Bethsaida Hospital showed that the pregnancy had reached four months. The baby was delivered on September 16, 2014. Sodipo futher told Sunday Sun that the Medical Director of the General Hospital advised that DNA test should be carried out to determine the paternity of the child but said it could not be done until six months after delivery of the baby.

In the course of investigation, the police were able to smoke out the suspect as Sunday Sun learnt from the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Olabisi Okuwobi-Ilobanafor, who also confirmed the arrest of the suspect. The suspect was thereafter arraigned before the Chief Magistrate Court at Kisi presided over by Chief Magistrate Usman Isiaku. He was subsequently remanded in Oyo Prison and the case adjourned to October 24, 2014.

She was rushed to hospital by unprotected paramedics in a normal ambulance only taken out of service 12 hours later and found out she had ebola by reading a Spanish newspaper website as she waited to be quarantined.
Her home in Alcorcon near Madrid that she shares with husband Javier Limon Romero, one of those quarantined at Madrid’s Carlos III Hospital, was not disinfected until yesterday morning.
Six people in total have now been quarantined since the start of Monday’s crisis.
They include three other hospital nursing staff who helped treat Miguel Pajares and Manuel Garcia Viejo, the Spanish priests who died after they were repatriated from West Africa.

Revealing how she discovered she was infected, she said: ‘Nobody told me anything.
‘I suspected something because at the beginning the nurses and doctors came in every hour, then they stopped coming in and I thought that something was up.
‘I got hold of my mobile and that’s when I saw on the website of El Pais newspaper that I had tested positive for ebola twice. Nobody ever told me to my face, “Teresa you’ve got ebola”.’
She went on to say that she had been given only 20 minutes’ training in how to put on and take off her protective suit.
