R Kelly was billed to headline ‘Fashion meets music festival, Ohio on 29 August, but that is no more happening after several protests by locals and other artists performing at the festival. Fellow performers ‘Saintseneca and ‘Damn The Witch Siren were among those leading the protests against R Kelly, posting an open letter refusing to play the festival as long as he did. Saintseneca wrote on their website, “We feel his selection as a performer ignores his very serious allegations of sexual violence and assault.” Although R Kelly was acquitted on all charges of making child pornography back in 2002, people apparently haven’t forgotten. Communications director of the festival, Melissa Dickson said, “Fashion Meets Music Festival and headlining artist R Kelly have come to the mutual decision to cancel Kelly’s upcoming performance at the inaugural Fashion Meets Music Festival.”
