Gov. Okorocha Launches ‘Operation Know Your Neighbour’ After Owerri Bomb Scare

Imo State Government  in a bid to check penetration of suicide bombers in the state   has launched  “Operation Know Your Neighbour”.

This followed the attempted bomb incident that took place on Sunday at the Winners Chapel Church off Port Harcourt Road, Owerri, in which  three bombs were discovered and later detonated by the Police.

The  state government launched the ‘Operation Know  Your Neighbour’  in collaboration with the security agencies in the state  as part of the  security measures to ensure adequate security of lives and property in the state.

Launching the programme on Monday at a special security meeting in Owerri, with the service chiefs in the state in attendance , the State governor, Chief Rochas Okorocha contended that nobody comes into a state to commit crime of any kind without an internal collaborator, adding that since those who commit these crimes were human beings they must also be residents somewhere, and their neighbours should equally be able to know them and what they do.

The governor announced other security measures, which stipulate that hotels in the state should install security cameras and should forward on daily basis the list of their guests to the Director of State Security Services; and trailers bringing food items from the Northern part of the country would no longer be allowed to come into the state at night but only in the day.
