Michael Sam, an All-American defensive end who played for the University
of Missouri, made history on Saturday after he got drafted into the
NFL. Making him the first openly gay player in the history of the
league. Sam was picked by the Rams in the seventh and final round, the
249th of 256 players selected.
"I'm Michael Sam. I'm a football player and I'm gay. I just want to own my truth before anyone breaks a story about me."So when it was time to receive the news of his drafting, same ESPN filmed a tearful Sam receiving the call from St Louis Rams coach Jeff Fisher to tell him that he had been selected to be a part of the team. Unable to contain his emotions, Sam turned to his boyfriend, Vito Cammisano, and the pair shared a kiss live on air; a kiss that has sparked many social media debates and gotten a player who tweeted that this was horrible suspended.
