BREAKING NEWS: Jega Bows Out Of INEC, Hands Over To Ahmed Wali

Professor Atahiru Jega, on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 bowed out as the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, having spent five years in office.

Jega has handed over the reins of power to Ambassador Ahmed Wali as the Acting Chairman of the commission.

The outgoing INEC boss left office alongside six national commissioners whose tenure equally expired same day.

His Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Kayode Idowu, in a statement, said Jega would be returning to the classroom soon after leaving office.

Before his appointment as the INEC chairman in 2010, Jega was the Vice Chancellor of the Bayero University, Kano State.
