Timothy Ngwu (second from right) and two of the concubines A self claimed pastor, the General Overseer of Vineyard Ministry of the Holy Trinity, Timothy Ngwu, was arrested by the police at Ihe/Owerre, Nsukka in Enugu State as he sexually abused over 20 female church members. According to the spokesman of the Enugu State Police Command, Ebere Amaraizu, DSP, “the pastor claims to be obeying prophetic/spiritual injunction to do the will of God, which is to impregnate any one chosen and revealed by the Holy Spirit, irrespective of whether the woman is married or not.” The spokesman added that “when the woman is delivered of the baby, the child remains in the ministry with the mother for life.” Pastor’s wife, Veronica Ngwu, reported to the Anti Child Trafficking unit of the state criminal and investigation department that women in the ministry have been sexually abused, as almost all married and single women in the ministry got pregnant. According to Veronica Ngwu, her husband used to be a well known catechist in Nsukka Catholic. It was further disclosed that while acting under the same alleged will of God, the Pastor got his wife’s niece pregnant as well. Ebere Amaraizu added that some of the church members’ wives are now living with him after he made all of them pregnant. Reacting to the allegations against him, the General Overseer stated that he has about five wives with thirteen children, apart from other concubines, who came as a result of the prophetic will of God. He claimed that he does not do anything with any married woman until full consent and agreement is reached between him and the husband in line with the directives of the holy Spirit. Two of the women, Calista Omeje and Assumpta Odo, who had left their husband and are now living with the General Overseer, confirmed that they left their husband and went to the General Overseer based on the prophetic injunction to do the will of God. Calista revealed that she is married to her husband with ten children, and that she got pregnant from Timothy, though the baby later died. She further disclosed that she also gave her daughter out to the General Overseer to be impregnated in fulfillment of will of God. Assumpta Odo also confirmed the development, pointing out that she is also married with eight children and that the pastor impregnated her as well as her daughter. (NigerianMonitor)

Song gets three-match ban for elbowing Mandzukic

alex song red card
Cameroon’s Alex Song has been given a three-match ban for elbowing Croatia striker Mario Mandzukic.
The former Arsenal midfielder was sent off during Cameroon’s 4-0 defeat last week, incurring an automatic one-match ban.
But FIFA’s disciplinary committee decided that the nature of the offence meant the suspension would be extended to three games.
Cameroon are already out of the World Cup after two straight defeats. Song will therefore miss their final Group A match with Brazil on Monday night plus Cameroon’s next two international matches.
Cameroon were just 1-0 down in the 40th minute when the Barcelona star committed the offence.
A FIFA statement read: The FIFA Disciplinary Committee decided today to suspend Song for three matches and impose a fine of CHF 20,000 for breaching art. 48 par. 1 d) of the FIFA Disciplinary Code.
“The first match of this suspension is to be served in the upcoming World Cup fixture between Cameroon and Brazil on 23 June 2014, with the remaining two to be served at the next official matches of the Cameroon national team.” (bbc)

Nigerians groan as power generation drops by 1,100MW

Power transmission infrastructure
The power supply situation in Lagos and other parts of the country has gone very bad in the past five days, with households and businesses experiencing hours of blackout.
In the intervening period, some areas have yet to experience a minute of power supply.
This, however, has resulted in many homes running generators all through the night. The World Cup tournament has further exposed this challenge as petrol filling stations have continued to record increased patronage by people buying petrol and diesel to power their electricity generators.
The Special Adviser to the Minister of Power on Power Systems, Mr. Jonathan Ogbonna, confirmed the drop in electricity supply to our correspondent on the telephone on Sunday, attributing the development to the shutdown of the Utorogu and Ughelli East gas plants.
He said the shutdown had drastically affected power generation as supply had fallen from over 4,000 megawatts to as low as 2,900MW.
He said, “Three weeks ago, the two gas plants were shut down. This has affected power generation, which went down to as low as 2,900MW. The 2,900MW was distributed in the format we have always done.
“From the National Electricity Regulatory Commission, there is a ratio for distribution. His has been followed.”
Ogbonna, however, said the maintenance works on the gas plants were still on, adding, “From the last report I got this morning, they are now re-commissioning the plants.
“When you demobilize after working on the system, re-commissioning will then be done. The re-commissioning is in stages; this is to ensure that everything is in order before we re-commission.”
In response to complaints by consumers, the Managing Director, Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company, Mr. Abiodun Ajifowobaje, said, “Generation has been bad in the last three days. The system is still very bad. We are receiving just 250MW to service our maximum demand of 1,250MW.”
The Federal Government had on June 2 announced the shutdown of Utorogu and Ughelli East gas plants.
The Minister of Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo, had said the closure of the plants was to ensure their proper maintenance.
Nebo said the closure of the gas plants would affect the output of power generation stations relying on them for gas supplies.
The minister said, “I am publicizing the planned closure for maintenance by the Nigerian Petroleum Development Corporation of its Utorogu and Ughelli East gas plants.
“This will no doubt have an impact on the output of the power stations fed by these gas plants, which include Egbin and Omotosho. The plants to be shut for short periods of time on different dates will inevitably result in the temporary loss of generated power.
“This is regretted but I assure you all that it will not last longer than the short period needed for the maintenance and re-commissioning work, and our experts will be at work to ensure that available power is distributed in a manner to minimize inconvenience to consumers.”

We are not afraid of Argentina –Musa

Ahmed Musa
Super Eagles forward Ahmed Musa has said Nigeria can beat Argentina to top their World Cup group on Wednesday, africanfootball.com reports.
Nigeria and Argentina have met three times at the World Cup with the South Americans victorious on all occasions.
The African champions now need to avoid defeat on Wednesday in Porto Alegre to guarantee their place in the last 16 of Brazil 2014.
And CSKA Moscow forward Musa promised that the Eagles would be victorious on their Group F clash against Argentina on Wednesday.
“Argentina have a great team and players, same with us. We are not afraid of them, it will be a clash of giants, it’s a game we can win and that we will play for and pray God crown our efforts,” Musa told africanfootball.com
Meanwhile, defenders Juwon Oshaniwa and Efe Ambrose have insisted the Eagles will not focus on Argentina superstar Lionel Messi in the encounter.
“I am looking forward to a good, sound and successful game against Argentina. It’s not all about Messi. Name doesn’t play football but it is what players and team bring forth on match day. We are ready to make ourselves and Nigerians proud against Argentina,” Oshaniwwa said.
Celtic defender Ambrose said the focus was not on how to stop Messi, but how to beat Argentina.
“We are not thinking of how to stop Messi. We are playing Argentina, who have 11 good players, we are equal to the task. It’s going to be a battle and we are ready,” he said.
Meanwhile, former Eagles captain Sunday Oliseh has tipped Emmanuel Emenike to lift Nigeria past Argentina on Wednesday.
Oliseh praised Emenike for his wholehearted performance against Bosnia on Saturday and said the big striker could hurt a “fragile” Argentine defence.
“Did anyone notice how omni-present Emenike was? In this player (Emenike), I believe we can threaten and hurt the fragile Argentine defence,” tweeted Oliseh, who featured for Nigeria at the 1994 and 1998 World Cups.
Incidentally, Emenike opened his goals account in the Eagles with a goal in a 4-1 demolition of Argentina three years ago in a friendly in Abuja.
However, the centre-forward is yet to score at Brazil 2014. (Punch)
