World Cup: Ghanaian ‘Witchcraft’ On Trial
Sport lovers and enthusiasts are looking forward to the display of African ‘witchcraft’ at the world cup tournament starting in Brazil this week. Particularly many will be looking out for Ghanaian witchcraft and how it will get Ghana to win its matches. Thanks to a local spiritualist, the Ghanaian witchcraft is already wreaking havoc. Claims by the country’s ‘most influential witchdoctor’, Nana Kwaku Bonsam, have made headlines around the world. Bonsam has declared that he would use his ‘magic’ to stop Cristiano Ronaldo from playing at the world cup, or at least from playing Ghana. The reasons for these weird claims may not be far fetched.
Since FIFA announced the teams that would play in the different groups, fear had gripped many Ghanaians. Ghana is in group G- the world cup’s group of death-with Portugal, Germany and USA. And Ghana must beat Germany or Portugal to advance. It is not certain that Ghana will beat the US. To many Ghanaians, beating one of the two countries will be difficult that is why Kwaku Bonsam is offering his free spiritual services at this critical point in time. And he is going after Ronaldo.
Bonsam said he used some occult means to orchestrate Cristiano Ronaldo’s recent knee injury which caused him to miss a friendly match against Greece. The knee injury is an ‘evidence’ that his magic is working. According to Bonsam this marks the beginning of Ronaldo’s sorrows. Series of injury will eventually prevent Ronaldo from playing at the world cup. There is no confirmation yet that Ronaldo has been ruled out of the world cup due to this injury. But Bonsam is already claiming that this would happen. He has marshalled his sympathetic magical wares against the world best player. What effects will that have on Cristiano Ronaldo? Will Kwaku Bonsam succeed in getting Ghana to lift the world cup through his magic?
Nana Kwaku Bonsam claimed to have conjured a special powder from his gods. He mixed the powder with leaves and concoctions and placed them around the photos and caricatures of Cristiano Ronaldo. In addition, he plans to use ‘four dogs’ to produce a special magical charm called ‘Kahawiri Kapam’
This charm will spiritually inflict Ronaldo with serial injuries that would keep me out of the world cup and likely out of playing professional soccer for life. Wow!
Bonsam states that the injury was spiritual and had no cure. By making this claim, Kwaku Bonsam has stretched his paranormal nonsense too far. He is making a caricature of himself and his so called powers. Bonsam is exposing his supposed witchcraft influences to international ridicule.
The belief that incurable diseases are magically orchestrated is popular in Ghana. Claims of causing incurable illness are among the driving forces of witchcraft accusation in the country. So, it is ‘understandable’ when one makes such wild claims in a country where many people cannot afford adequate health care and therefore rely on traditional and faith healing system.
Magic and medicine mix in the traditional and faith healing system. Weird claims like those made by Nana Kwaku Bonsam are common.
Bonsam has demonstrated his charlatanry by thinking that his ‘witchcraft’ abracadabra can apply in the case of Ronaldo who can access the best health care in the world. Witchcraft is superstition and thrives due to fear or ignorance. Nana Kwaku Bonsam and others who peddle such superstitous claims are miners of popular fears and anxieties. Magic has practically not place in football. Magical charms can affect those who believe and use them psychologically probably by boosting their confidence or morale. But the psychological impact is so marginal that it cannot be responsible for claims like the ones Kwaku Bonsam is making. If witchcraft is effective in football, many African teams would have lifted the world cup.
But my question is this: Why Ronaldo? Why Portugal and not Germany? Is Ronaldo the only player in the Portuguese team? Why is Bonsam making this claim in reaction to the injury? Why can’t he now be prophetic in his so called magical schemes and now tell us who else will be injured among the German or Portuguese players? If he has the magic to make Ghana win, must he injure Ronaldo to accomplish this?
If he has spiritual powers as he claims why can’t he join the Ghana national team and use his powers to secure victory for them in Brazil?
This is not the first time witchcraft related claims are featuring in Ghanaian football. In 2012, the then coach of Ghana, Goran Stevanovic attributed the failure of Ghana to beat Zambia in the Semi Final African Cup of Nations to accusations of witchcraft. He claimed that the players were using ‘black power’ against each other, and this negatively impacted their performance. Coach Stevanovic said a change of mentality is needed to get rid of this negative trend in Ghanaian football.
But that change of mind has not happened and may not happen for now due to the operations and pronouncements of the likes of Kwaku Bonsam. So as the world cup tournament kicks off in a few days time, people are looking forward to seeing ‘black power’ in action, Ghanaian witchcraft will surely be on trial.

Baby Dies In Church After Dedication, Pastor Threatens Mother (Photo)
A baby belonging to Godwin and Amaka Mark reportedly died
after its dedication by a pastor who presides over a church opposite the
MTN mast at Baruwa area of Ipaja in Lagos state.
The deceased baby
According to report, the Pastor (name withheld) dedicated the baby on Sunday June 1, 2014 and the baby died right there in the church.
According to an eyewitness, during the dedication, the pastor sprinkled oil on the baby and prayed with even carrying the baby in his arms.
"It was an unusual thing to have seen a pastor dedicating a baby without carrying the baby. What the Pastor did was to sprinkle oil and he prayed without even touching the baby," the eyewitness said.
When the parents were asked by some people they invited for the dedication why the Pastor didn't touch the baby, the couple said that's how it was done in the church.
At the close of service, the parents discovered that their baby was no longer breathing. They called the pastor who had disappeared from church but he said he couldn't come back as he had already taken off his clothes.
The bereaved couple had to go and bury their dead baby with the assistance of some of the invited guests.
The next day, the Pastor was said to have sent some people to pay a condolence visit to the couple.
During the visit, the mother of the dead baby mad it known that she was not pleased with action of the Pastor over the death of her baby and the emissary took words back to the pastor who is now threatening to sue Mrs Amaka Mark if she does not retract her statement within 7days.
However, the couple made it clear to the pastor that they were ready for any legal tussle with him and now he is pleading with them not to make the matter public.

Comedian Tracy Morgan’s Leg Crushed in Car Accidents … Doctors Preparing TO AMPUTATE IT!!
MediaUpdate is reporting (unsubstantiated)
that Tracy Morgan’s leg was crushed and it may be amputated.
MediaTakeOut.com spoke with a person who WORKS at the Robert Wood
Johnson Hospital who said
Kevin Roper, 35, posted a $50,000 bail after being charged in a crash that killed comedian Jimmy Mack (James McNair).
McNair was riding with the Saturday Night
Live alum, movie star and comedian Tracy Morgan who is presently in
critical condition according to Sgt. Gregory Williams of New Jersey
State Police.
The chain-reaction wreck happened around 1:00
am Eastern on Saturday morning. Morgan was riding with McNair as well
as fellow comedians Ardie Fuqua and Harris Stanton, who along with
Jeffrey Millea, were also injured.
Middlesex County Prosecutors’ Office said
that Roper, is charged with one count of death by auto and four counts
of assault by auto. Mercer was driving a Walmart tractor-trailer on the

they believed the truck driver was dozing and didn’t see traffic slowing
in front of his 18-wheeler until it was too late, crashing into the
vehicle carrying comedian Morgan and his entourage.
“I just
remember the impact. … We didn’t know which way was up, which way was
down. I don’t know if we flipped several times or one time,” Gale said.
“I saw the condition of everybody and I knew it would just make it worse
if I tried to pull them up and out of the vehicle.”“The driver of the tractor-trailer failed to observe slow-moving traffic ahead,” Williams said. “At the last minute, he swerved to try and avoid the Mercedes limo bus but struck it from behind, forcing the limo to rotate and overturn.” (GhanaVibes)
Happy 37th Birthday, Kanye West!
Kanye West has yet another reason to celebrate today.
The rapper, who married Kim Kardashian two weeks ago (perhaps you heard about it) turns 37 today, his first birthday since becoming both a father and a husband.West is yet to actually speak out since exchanging vows with the former sex tape star, as the couple only recently returned from its honeymoon in Ireland.
Reports have claimed he's clashing with Kim over his desire to have a second child; and also over her exposing daughter North to the paparazzi, but we'll assume these issues have been placed on the backburner in honor of Kanye's big day.
He's now 37 years old!!! Join us in sending the artist some birthday wishes

Super Hot Rihanna's Poster Banned From Areas With Children (18+)
You a have a unique chance to enjoy Rihanna's perfume poster that has been banned in areas where children are likely to see it.
WARNING - NUDITY
Rihanna's ad poster was banned in areas with children
After Riri's scandalous appearance in a super-see-through dress at the annual Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards (CFDA), it's hard to imagine how else a kinky pop-star can shock you. This time a candid and provocative ad poster was banned by the Advertising Standards Agency for being offensively sexual, demeaning to women. Such a decision was taken after a single complaint was sent to the agency by one of the disgruntled citizens.
The advert shows a singer on the floor with her head and shoulders leaning against a wall and her legs raised against a large bottle of Rogue perfume. Although the company, Parlux Fragrances, that took part in creating the poster tried to convince the agency workers that Rihanna's image shows a strong woman 'one with the courage to challenge boundaries' and does not reflect improper nudity or offensive or suggestive imagery, their attempts failed.
It is not the first time Rihanna's advert has caused controversy, in 2012 two explicit posters brought her a status of a 'no go' for the brand’s family image
In a statement the Advertising Standards Authority said: "While we did not consider the image to be overtly sexual, we considered that Rihanna’s pose, with her legs raised in the air, was provocative. Because of this, and the fact that Rihanna appeared to be naked except for high heels, we concluded that the ad was sexually suggestive and should have been given a placement restriction to reduce the possibility of it being seen by children."
It is not the first time Rihanna's advert has caused controversy. Only in 2012 at least two explicit posters caused mixed reactions and brought her a status of a 'no go' for the brand’s family image. Rihanna has also appeared in racy advertisements for Armani, Budweiser, Mac and French fashion range Balmain.

Nigerians Making Huge Sales From World Cup Fever
Less than six days before the 20th FIFA World Cup kicks off
in Brazil, Nigerian traders are saying they are bumper says on their
goods.
The News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, reports that electronics and electrical appliances dealers at Alaba International Market, Ojo, Lagos State are the ones reaping the benefits the most.
It was gathered at the market that traders have been making good sales since some weeks ago because of the global football competition.
Some of the traders who spoke to NAN on the impact of the imminent competition on their businesses said they foresaw better sales ahead.
“Football is a culture in Nigeria and anything that can enable us to catch a glimpse of the World Cup feast will be sought for.
“For the past few days now, the demand for the Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) type of television sets have increased unlike what the situation was few months ago,” Mr Obinna Ojiego, a television seller said.
* One of the stadia to be used for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil
According to him, the increase in sale of electronics shows the huge interests Nigerians attach to football and especially to the world cup.
Another dealer, Uzo Onukwe, disclosed that with the competition few days away, he has been recording sales of five to 10 Flat Screen sets daily.
Onukwe informed that 'we always look forward to World Cup to make more sales'.
“Although there is no prize hike of the products, the joy of it is that the turnover is impressive at a faster rate,” he added.
A generator set seller, Mr Nzube Umeh, also stated that he had noticed an improved sales because of the forthcoming World Cup.
“The incessant power outage in the country has made Nigerians who do not want their watching matches on television to be disrupted during the competition have resorted to purchasing electricity generating sets.
“In anticipation of the competition and its accruing increase in sales, I have placed order for new products of good qualities,” Umeh said.
Traders at Alaba market in Ojo, Lagos
Collins Orji, an electronic technician, also confirmed that the level of his patronage had increased for some weeks now.
The 2014 World Cup will begin on 12 June and end 13 July, 2014.
Nigeria's Super Eagles are drawn in Group F along side Argentina, Iran and Bosnia Herzegovina.
The Nigerian team, who are presently in camping in the USA, would play a warm up match against the Americans on Saturday after they recently played out a 2-2 and 0-0 draws against Scotland and Greece respectively.
