The Nigeria Police Force, Niger State Command has confirmed the death of an unidentified man who collapsed and died after having s*x with a woman at a guest house in the Paiko Local Government Area of the state.

It was gathered that the incident occurred on Tuesday, October 15, at around 8:50 pm.

The guest house, which belongs to the Paikoro LGA, is situated close the popular Paiko market along the Paiko -Lapai road. It is frequently used by traders from distant locations.

The state Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, who confirmed the incident in a statement, said it was reported to the Police at Paiko division on 15th of October, 2024.

He also explained that efforts are ongoing to locate the relatives of the deceased for necessary arrangements.

The statement read, “An incident of a suspected sudden death was reported at Paiko Div, that on 15/10/24 at about 2050hrs, a yet to be identified male adult visited the LGA lodge with a lady, and thereafter, he slumped and he was rushed to a nearby medical facility in Paiko where he was confirmed dead”

“The incident is being investigated as a medical autopsy is being awaited. Effort is also ongoing to locate his relatives for necessary arrangements.”

Also, a trader, who wished to remain anonymous, revealed that the man collapsed while dressing up after the encounter.

According to him, “The lady told us that he was putting on his trousers when he suddenly slumped and died.”

It was further gathered that the woman is currently in the custody of the Police while the body of the deceased is at the IBB Specialist Hospital in Minna.

"Upon the operatives' arrival, the kidnappers opened fire, prompting a return of fire. In the process, two of the suspects were neutralised, while others fled with varying degrees of gunshot injuries."

He revealed a manhunt for the fleeing suspects and others linked to the syndicate had been launched, noting that Enugu State would no longer be safe for the criminals and their collaborators.

He added, "A male victim, identified as the personal assistant (PA) to a public figure (names withheld), kidnapped by the gang on September 27, 2024, in Trans-Ekulu, Enugu, was rescued unharmed.

"During the operation, the police recovered one G-3 rifle, two AK-47 rifles, three magazines, and one hundred and twenty-five rounds of live ammunition.

"Preliminary investigations reveal that this criminal group had demanded a ransom of N40,000,000 for the release of the victim. The group is also found to be responsible for several kidnappings within Enugu metropolis and its environs.

"Some of their members had previously been arrested and arraigned in court, with firearms and ammunition recovered from them."

Ndukwe also disclosed that the buildings the criminals used for the criminal acts, including the present one, had been destroyed by the Enugu State government.

He said the Commissioner of Police, Mr Kanayo Uzuegbu, commended the operatives' efforts and reiterated the command’s unwavering resolve to eradicate violent crimes in the state.

He called on the public to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and to support the police in their efforts.

Fubara Approves N85,000 Minimum Wage For Civil Servants In Rivers

Taken to a hospital in the city of Magadan, Pichugin was well enough to speak briefly to journalists Wednesday, lying in a hospital bed.

On Wednesday, a Russian man who managed to survive 66 days at sea in a small inflatable boat spoke about his ordeal from his hospital bed.

46-year-old Mikhail Pichugin, was rescued by a fishing boat Monday off the coast of the far eastern Kamchatka peninsula, more than two months after he set off on a boat trip with his brother and 15-year-old nephew, both of whom died aboard.

Taken to a hospital in the city of Magadan, Pichugin was well enough to speak briefly to journalists Wednesday, lying in a hospital bed.

Looking pale with red-rimmed eyes but not emaciated, he gave a few details of how he managed to survive in the Sea of Okhotsk.

“With God’s help, how else? If a boat called Angel saved me,” he said, smiling, referring to the name of the fishing boat whose crew spotted him.

“I collected rainwater,” he said. He also credited a sleeping bag filled with camel hair for helping him survive.

“It’s wet, it doesn’t get dry but you crawl under it, you wriggle around a bit and you get warm.”

“I had no choice. I have my mother at home, my daughter,” he added on his motivation to live.

Magadan deputy governor Tatiana Savchenko said his condition was “satisfactory”.

She said the administration would pay for Pichugin to fly home and for relatives to visit.

Pichugin comes from Ulan-Ude in Siberia but was working on the far eastern island of Sakhalin as a driver.

He set off from the coast of the Khabarovsk region on August 9 with his visiting brother Sergei, 49, and nephew Ilya, 15, on a crossing to Sakhalin meant to take a few hours.

When they failed to arrive, Russian rescuers surveyed the area by helicopter and plane, suspecting the boat had drifted towards Kamchatka, but found nothing and the search was eventually called off.

The boat was found around 1,000 kilometres (670 miles) from its starting point.

Pichugin may have survived because of his portly 100-kilogramme (220 pounds) stature, according to his wife. Russian television reported he weighed only 50kg when found on Monday.

His wife Yekaterina told RIA Novosti news agency: “It’s a kind of miracle”. She said the men had taken enough food and water to last only two weeks.

“On the 02/10/2024 at about 1612hrs a formal complaint was received by a unanimous caller from Kashere Akko LGA, Gombe that on the same date one Auwalu Maigadali ‘M’ aged of 27yrs of Kashere Akko LGA, Gombe was attacked and m8rdered by hoodlums at Tukulma Village of the same LGA,” the statement read.
     
"On receipt of the information the patrol team from Pindiga Division rushed to the scene and took the said victim to Tumu cottage hospital and also arrested the above mentioned suspect in connection to the crime and will soon be charged to court. Mukwananzi, who is married with two children, confessed to H-Metro that his unusual behaviour started after he was given "muti" (traditional medicine) by the sangoma, which included planting a small tree at his home. Over time, he said, he began feeling a strange attraction toward chickens, eventually engaging in s3xual acts with the birds to satisfy his urges.

“This all started when I consulted a sangoma and he gave me some muti to boost my wealth," Mukwananzi explained. "As time passed, I developed feelings towards chickens... I found myself committing best!ality with the chickens.”

The situation took a turn for the worse when Mukwananzi's wife caught him in the act with a chicken. Horrified by what she witnessed, she quickly left him and took their children, moving back to her parents' home. Mukwananzi’s wife confirmed the ordeal to H-Metro, saying, "He is no longer s3xually attracted to human beings but to animals."

Mukwananzi’s behaviour has sparked fear among his neighbours, with one resident expressing concerns about the possibility of his actions escalating. "Today, he might r@pe animals, but the next thing, he will do it to our children," the neighbour warned.

Operatives of the Imo State Police Command have dismantled a notorious armed robbery syndicate terrorising residents of Owerri North Local Government Area of the state. 

 

The spokesperson of the command, ASP Henry Okoye, who disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, credited the success to the enhanced security measures put in place by the Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, aimed at tackling violent crimes.

 

“On October 15, 2024, at about 3:20 am, a patrol team from the Owerri North Divisional Headquarters responded swiftly to a distress call reporting an armed robbery on Dominion Street near Don Kay in Owerri North LGA,” the statement read. 

 

"Upon arrival, the officers were met with gunfire from the armed robbers.

 

The officers, displaying remarkable bravery, quickly assumed strategic positions and returned fire.

 

“During the confrontation, one suspect was neutralised, while another named Moses Nanzi ‘m’, 31, of Faringada in Plateau State, sustained gunshot injuries and was arrested. The remaining gang members fled into the bushes. 

 

"A double-barrel gun and seven rounds of live cartridges from the arrested suspect.
