New York Escaped Prisoner David Sweat Shot, Captured After 'Nightmare' Manhunt
Convicted murderer David Sweat
is hospitalized in critical condition after being shot and captured
today, more than three weeks after he escaped from a maximum security
prison in upstate New York.
The
man who escaped with Sweat, Richard Matt, was shot and killed by a
border patrol SWAT team Friday afternoon in Elephant's Head, New York,
just 50 miles away from the prison, after he was spotted by a law
enforcement officer in the woods.
Matt and Sweat may have been using picnic-style pepper shakers to throw their scent off the dogs tracking them, D'Amico said today.
Authorities had found Sweat’s DNA on remnants of food about a mile from where Matt was shot and killed.
Matt was serving 25 years to life in prison after he kidnapped and beat a man to death in 1997. Sweat was serving a life sentence after he was convicted of killing a Broome County sheriff's deputy in 2002.
Matt and Sweat used power tools to cut through the back of their adjacent cells on June 6 at the Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora, New York, about 20 miles south of the Canadian border, police said.
They broke through a brick wall, then cut into a steam pipe and slithered through it, finally emerging outside the prison walls through a manhole.
More than 1,000 corrections officers and law enforcement officers were involved in the search.
Cuomo said today, "This was an unprecedented coming together of law enforcement on every level."
The investigation is ongoing to find out who was involved in the escape, Cuomo said. There is also an investigation into the systems at the prison.
Two employees at the prison, tailor shop employee Joyce Mitchell and corrections officer Gene Palmer, have been charged in connection with the escape.
"Anyone ... who was guilty of cooperating in this escape will be fully prosecuted," Cuomo said today

"The nightmare is finally over," New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo told reporters this evening.
Sweat was caught in the area of
Constable, New York, approximately 1.5 miles south of the Canadian
border, officials said. Authorities believe Sweat was trying to make a
final break toward the border, officials said.
At about 3:20 p.m., State Police
Sgt. Jay Cook was alone on a routine patrol when he spotted Sweat on a
road near Route 30 and ordered him to stop, a source familiar with the
investigation said. When Sweat started to run, the sergeant opened fire,
the source said.
Officials said Sweat was shot twice in the torso. Sweat was not armed, New York State Police Superintendent Joseph D'Amico said.
Sweat was in critical condition
at Albany Medical Center, an official there said Sunday evening, after
being transferred from Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone, New York.
No law enforcement personnel were injured during the capture, an official briefed on the manhunt said.
Sweat has not yet been interviewed by investigators, D'Amico said.

Matt and Sweat may have been using picnic-style pepper shakers to throw their scent off the dogs tracking them, D'Amico said today.
Authorities had found Sweat’s DNA on remnants of food about a mile from where Matt was shot and killed.
On Friday afternoon before Matt
was killed, officials announced they had reason to believe Sweat and
Matt were planning to head to the border in a final play for freedom. As
a result, U.S. and Canadian law enforcement sent in reinforcements in
an effort to both squeeze the escapees and keep them from potentially
making it out of the country.
Today Cuomo called the escape "an extraordinary situation in many ways."
"If you were writing a movie plot, they would say this was overdone," he said.
"They were killers," Cuomo said. "Mr. Matt killed at least two
people. Mr. Sweat killed a sheriff's deputy ... in a savage, savage
way."Matt was serving 25 years to life in prison after he kidnapped and beat a man to death in 1997. Sweat was serving a life sentence after he was convicted of killing a Broome County sheriff's deputy in 2002.

deterrent to others.
It will be recalled that fires resulting from tanker crashes in Iyana
Ipaja and Idimu areas of Lagos and Onitsha led to the death of about

MUST READ: Check Out The Deadly Virus Other Than HIV Than Even Condom Can’t Protect You Against!!
Condoms have been hyped as master-protectors against sexually transmitted infections. However, health experts are warning that in as much as condoms significantly decrease transmission rates of the most life-threatening viruses such as HIV and hepatitis B and C, it’s not foolproof.
At a meeting of cancer specialists at the University of Nairobi last week, reproductive health expert, Nelly Mugo, said that even as we take protective measures using condoms against most STIs including HIV/Aids, the rubber sheaths cannot provide 100 per cent protection against the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). “Condoms offer 60 per cent of HPV thus the virus can spread through skin-to-skin contact with infected areas of the skin not covered by the condom such as the scrotum, anus, or vulva,” Dr Mugo said. The 2014 Kenya Demographic and Health Survey, released last week, shows that male condoms are the most popular method among sexually active unmarried women. Unmarried men too seem to prefer condoms as the popular method to protect against STIs. But for a virus whose disease has no symptoms, the inefficacy of condoms allows for faster and wider spread, especially amongst those with multiple s*x partners. The only 100 per cent effective way to prevent HPV transmission is abstinence from any s*xual contact, including oral, an*l, and vaginal s*x.
That ‘oops’ moment when women’s emergency pills backfire Since abstinence may not be a realistic option, Dr Mugo advises remaining monogamous while in a relationship, vaccination and screening for women. Women can also pass viruses without having any symptoms. But the chance of females infecting men is estimated at less than five per cent of the rates of male-to-female transmission. There are more than 100 types of HPV and about 13 of these are cancer causing, with HPV types 16 and 18 causing approximately 70 per cent of all cervical cancers worldwide. Sadly, it’s physically difficult to tell whether your partner has the HPV virus unless they have private part warts, yet those who do not have visible signs can also spread the virus.
The other interesting aspect of this particular virus is that you do not need to have s*x for it to be passed on from one person to another. The virus is found in the flora of the man-hood, scrotum, vag1na, vulva, or anus of a person who has the HPV.
One can get infected through kissing or touching an infected s*x organs or through oral s3’x. Since cervical cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths among adult women, in the developing world, and the second most common cancer among women worldwide, preventive measures include getting a pap smear for women and/or getting vaccinated. Better still, it’s important that you be honest with your partner about your s3’x history. Immunizing all girls before becoming sexually active ideally aged nine to 13 years in order to lower the risk of HPV took off in Kenya under a pilot project in Kitui County in 2013, targeting 20,000 girls.

Photo: Meet The ‘World’s Ugliest Dog
Quasi Modo, whom the owner claims has a back too short for its
body, walks on the stage at The World’s Ugliest Dog Competition in
Petaluma, California.
A
10-year old, hunchbacked, mixed breed dog named “Quasi Modo” was awarded
first place at the World’s Ugliest Dog Competition on Friday, according
to a press release for the Petaluma, California, event. Quasi, whose
short spine makes her resemble a hyena, “epitomized excellence in
ugliness” Chief Judge Brian Sobel said. The designation won $1,500 for
her owner.
This wasn’t Quasi’s first rodeo. Last year, the spunky Florida pup won second place, losing out to small, wild-eyed dog named Peanut. Quasi’s pageant bio says that despite the multiple birth defects that contribute to her odd appearance, she is a happy dog who loves to run and play. She also works as an “ambassador for teaching people about acceptance and tolerance for things that are different,” according to the bio.
Veterinarian Virginia Sayre and her husband, Mike Carroll, adopted Quasi from Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control about nine years ago, according to a Palm Beach County press release. The lovable dog “gets along well with everybody,” but sometimes other people are alarmed by her appearance, Sayre told The Palm Beach Post last year.
“People who love dogs get her, but I’ve had grown men jump on top of a truck to get away from her. They don’t know what to make of her,” Sayre said. Though the press release and the Associated Press both initially identified Quasi as male, the dog is female, Andrian Guthrie, who worked at Palm Beach County Animal Care when Quasi lived there, told The Huffington Post in an email.

assassination.
Igbomie had served as a security aide to Mrs. Jonathan since her husband was Deputy President.
Police sources in Abuja said the deceased, who had also served as
Aide-De-Camp to Mrs. Jonathan, was found dead soaked in blood inside his
vehicle last Friday night along the Airport Road, Abuja.
The police in Abuja said it has opened investigations into the killing.

Igbomie was redeployed to the FCT Police Command after Mrs. Jonathan ceased to be first lady of Nigeria on May 29, 2015.
What a Life: Pedophiles are Seeking Similar Status as Gays
Pedophiles - those who like to have sexual intimacy with children - are seeking similar status as gays. Their argument: that their desire for children is a sexual orientation no different than heterosexual or homosexuals.
Greeleygazette reports
Using the same tactics used by “gay” rights activists, pedophiles have begun to seek similar status arguing their desire for children is a sexual orientation no different than heterosexual or homosexuals. Critics of the homosexual lifestyle have long claimed that once it became acceptable to identify homosexuality as simply an “alternative lifestyle” or sexual orientation, logically nothing would be off limits."Gay” advocates have taken offense at such a position insisting this would never happen. However, psychiatrists are now beginning to advocate redefining pedophilia in the same way homosexuality was redefined several years ago.
In 1973 the American Psychiatric Association declassified homosexuality from its list of mental disorders. A group of psychiatrists with B4U-Act recently held a symposium proposing a new definition of pedophilia in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Health Disorders of the APA.
B4U-Act calls pedophiles “minor-attracted people.” The organization’s website states its purpose is to, “help mental health professionals learn more about attraction to minors and to consider the effects of stereotyping, stigma and fear.”
In 1998 The APA issued a report claiming “that the ‘negative potential’ of adult sex with children was ‘overstated’ and that ‘the vast majority of both men and women reported no negative sexual effects from childhood sexual abuse experiences.”
Pedophilia has already been granted protected status by the Federal Government. The Matthew Shephard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act lists “sexual orientation” as a protected class; however, it does not define the term.
Republicans attempted to add an amendment specifying that “pedophilia is not covered as an orientation;” however, the amendment was defeated by Democrats. Rep. Alcee Hastings (D-Fl) stated that all alternative sexual lifestyles should be protected under the law. “This bill addresses our resolve to end violence based on prejudice and to guarantee that all Americans, regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability or all of these ‘philias’ and fetishes and ‘isms’ that were put forward need not live in fear because of who they are. I urge my colleagues to vote in favor of this rule.”
The White House praised the bill saying, “At root, this isn’t just about our laws; this is about who we are as a people. This is about whether we value one another — whether we embrace our differences rather than allowing them to become a source of animus.”
Earlier this year two psychologists in Canada declared that pedophilia is a sexual orientation just like homosexuality or heterosexuality.
Van Gijseghem, psychologist and retired professor of the University of Montreal, told members of Parliament, “Pedophiles are not simply people who commit a small offense from time to time but rather are grappling with what is equivalent to a sexual orientation just like another individual may be grappling with heterosexuality or even homosexuality.”
He went on to say, “True pedophiles have an exclusive preference for children, which is the same as having a sexual orientation. You cannot change this person’s sexual orientation. He may, however, remain abstinent.”
When asked if he should be comparing pedophiles to homosexuals, Van Gijseghem replied, “If, for instance, you were living in a society where heterosexuality is proscribed or prohibited and you were told that you had to get therapy to change your sexual orientation, you would probably say that that is slightly crazy. In other words, you would not accept that at all. I use this analogy to say that, yes indeed, pedophiles do not change their sexual orientation.”
Dr. Quinsey, professor emeritus of psychology at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, agreed with Van Gijseghem. Quinsey said pedophiles’ sexual interests prefer children and, “There is no evidence that this sort of preference can be changed through treatment or through anything else.”
In July, 2010 Harvard health Publications said, “Pedophilia is a sexual orientation and unlikely to change. Treatment aims to enable someone to resist acting on his sexual urges.”
Linda Harvey, of Mission America, said the push for pedophiles to have equal rights will become more and more common as LGBT groups continue to assert themselves. “It’s all part of a plan to introduce sex to children at younger and younger ages; to convince them that normal friendship is actually a sexual attraction.”
Sex offender laws protecting children have been challenged in several states including California, Georgia and Iowa. Sex offenders claim the laws prohibiting them from living near schools or parks are unfair because it penalizes them for life.
