The people of Rwanda celebrated their annual Liberation Day celebrations at Amahoro National Stadium in Kigali on July 4th and guess who came to light up the event? Davido ! Do you know that the President of Rwanda , Paul Kagame, with his wife and kids welcomed Davido at the airport? He’s currently Africa’s best artiste so it’s allowed! At the stadium, he performed to 60, 000 people! Other Presidents present were Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete and Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta. The Aye crooner was also told to perform his Aye song at the presidential villa but no cameras were allowed. Kudos to him!

Solange Knowles (Sort Of) Addresses Jay Z Elevator Beatdown: It's All Good!

It appears as if things are now all good between Beyonce and Jay Z.
And the same can seemingly be said between Beyonce, Jay Z and Solange Knowles, even after the latter went bonkers and attacked her brother-in-law inside a New York City elevator this spring.
Solange covers the latest issue of Lucky, addressing the well-publicized confrontation for the first time and referring to it as “that thing.”

"What's important is that my family and I are all good," Solange tells the magazine. "What we had to say collectively was in the statement that we put out, and we all feel at peace with that."
The statement in question was released in May, just a few days after security footage leaked depicting Solange attacking her Jay Z in the elevator of New York City's Standard Hotel.

It read:
As a result of the public release of the elevator security footage from Monday, May 5th, there has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident," the statement at the time read. "But the most important thing is that our family has worked through it.
Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They both have apologized to each other and we have moved forward as a united family.

While the family never talked about what sparked the fight, an insider said it "was over something so small and stupid."
The tabloid adds that Solange was being a “loudmouth,” with both Bey and Jay trying to “handle the situation" because "Solange has been that way before, and Jay and Bey just wanted to get her out of there home before she really caused a ruckus."

In other words: it could have been far worse.
 Many have pointed out that the fight took place at the end of a very long night of partying, and Solange may have been drunk at the time of the event. Reactions from those around her suggest this sort of thing happens often.

You have to admire Pauline Potter’s sheer will and determination. First, she set out to set the Guinness World Record for fattest female on the planet, which she achieved by reaching a weight of 700 pound. Once having accomplished her goal, she set another — drop some of the pounds. Again she succeeded, shedding 100. But perhaps most compelling is her secret for losing weight: having s.e’x with her husband seven times a day! The website Closer notes that Potter’s appearance makes her “an unlikely spokesperson for the health benefits of s.e’x.” One might add that it makes her an even stranger advocate for weight loss.

Meadow Walker has returned to Instagram.

The 15-year old daughter of late actor Paul Walker posted a photo of herself in a bikini yesterday, writing as a simple caption on the social media service:

"Glad to be back."

And followers were glad to have Meadow back with fans posting messages to Meadow that told her she looks “great” and should “stay strong."
"Your daddy is always around with you. Stay strong meadow, you're a warrior," one user wrote in supportive response.

Paul Walker died in a high-speed car crash in November.
In addition to losing her dad, Meadow has been at the forefront of a heated custody battle between her mother, Rebecca Soteros, and her grandmother on her father's side, Cheryl Walker, because she's the beneficiary of her dad's $16 million estate.
There had been talk initially that Meadow actually witnessed her father's tragic accident, but those reports were quickly shot down.

All we know is that it's very nice to see Meadow Walker smiling again.

Kourtney Kardashian, the reality star has posted an image to Instagram of herself in a bikini, catching some rays and showing off her baby bump... while adorable daughter Penelope climbs on top of her pending little brother or sister.

Love or hate (or really, really, really love) this family, it's a rather precious mother/child moment:

Kourtney is yet to publicly confirm her third pregnancy in any way except for a Keeping Up with the Kardashians teaser clip that ran on E! of her breaking the big news to Scott Disick.
But she's expected to give birth toward the end of 2014.
Again, we'd love to say something snarky about this, but we cannot do so. Babies are cute. It's as simple as that.

Fortunately, sister Kim Kardashian took to Instagram over the weekend and unveiled a totally obnoxious picture of her and her giant engagement ring.
So at least we've had a chance to mock the heck out of her for that nonsense.

Man Rapes His Neighbour's Nine-Year-Old Daughter In Lagos

A 37-year-old man, Monday Okoh accused of raping his neighbour’s nine-year-old daughter (name withheld) was on Monday arraigned  before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrate’s Court on three counts.

The police said Okoh who committed the crime on Onifade Street, Aboru-Ipaja area of Lagos State reportedly injured the girl in the forehead and damaged her lower limbs while defiling the minor.

The suspect was, however, arrested by the police after committing the act.

The charge reads, “That you, Monday Okoh, on June 15, 2014, at about 8pm, at Onifade Street, Aboru, Iyana-Ipaja Lagos in the Lagos Magisterial District, did indecently assault one (name witheld), aged 9 years, with intent to have carnal Knowledge of her and cause her bruises on her forehead and lower limbs.

The police prosecutor, DSP Etim Ekankuk, said the offences were punishable under sections 134, 137 and 135 of the Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2011.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. A.A. Demi-Ajayi, admitted him to bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum. The matter was adjourned till September 17.

 

The high rate of rape cases these days is becoming alarming. No wonder the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Mrs Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire called for life imprisonment, without an option of fine, for convicted rapist.

Everybody Can not Like My Music—Burna Boy

Music artiste, Burna Boy has made a difference for himself with his type of music and his fans love it. It is certain that everybody cannot like his style of music, which some have criticised, but the award-winning musician is not bothered about it, going by his recent statement.

The Port Harcourt born music artiste, who is a Reggae dancehall singer and songwriter, released his hit single, ‘Like To Party’, in May 2012 and since then, his songs have made waves in the industry.

Speaking recently on peoples’ criticisms of his music, Burna Boy said, "I don't expect everyone to like me and my music. I just appreciate those that do.”

Neuer is world’s best keeper –Kahn

Manuel Neuer has been dubbed ‘the best goalkeeper in the world’ by Oliver Kahn as Germany’s star shot-stopper prepares for Tuesday’s World Cup semi-final against Brazil, AFP.

The 28-year-old has played a key part in Germany’s run to the last four of Brazil 2014 by dominating his penalty area and pulling off a string of key saves.

Neuer has shown great timing and judgement by frequently cutting out long passes or crosses with runs out of his own area, often acting more like an extra defender.

He has leaked only three goals in five games at the World Cup. He was outstanding in the Germans’ nervy 2-1 last 16 win to shut Algeria out until the 121st-minute.

Neuer then nullified France’s potent attack in Friday’s 1-0 quarter-final win at Rio de Janeiro’s Maracana Stadium to set up the Selecao clash in Belo Horizonte on Tuesday for a place in the July 13 final.

He constantly denied France’s Karim Benzema, including a crucial save just before the final whistle to palm away the Real Madrid star’s goal-bound shot.

Former Germany midfielder and TV pundit Mehmet Scholl has dubbed him ‘Icecube Neuer’ for his composure, while ex-national team captain Kahn says he is the world’s best.

“He has proven at this World Cup that he is currently the world’s best goalkeeper,” said Kahn, who captained Germany to their 2002 World Cup final defeat to Brazil.

“Everyone knows that he is a wonderful footballer who can play really well. But what is crucial is that in important situations he can rescue the victory.”

Redeemer’s varsity student kills dad at Redemption Camp

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 21-year-old undergraduate, Tolani Ajayi, of Redeemer’s University along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, for allegedly killing his father, Mr. Charles Ajayi, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria.

The incident, according to the police, occurred on Tuesday, July 3, at their residence on Canaanland Street within the Redeemed Christian Church of God’s Redemption Camp.

Tolani was said to have slaughtered his father with a knife and later butchered him with a cutlass.

PUNCH Metro learnt that Tolani afterwards allegedly packed his father’s remains in a box and dragged them into the bush within the camp.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said the police later recovered the remains of the 60-year-old lawyer in a bush along Canaanland Street.

He said, “The policemen who noticed the ground mark created by the box as Tolani dragged it, followed this lead which led them to the strange discovery.”

He said Tolani, a 300-level undergraduate in the Department of History and International Relations, was arrested the same day in his late father’s residence after the discovery of the corpse and police preliminary findings.

Adejobi added that the Divisional Police Officer of the Redemption Camp Police Station, Olaiya Martins, a Superintendent of Police, had led a team of detectives and some members of the community who noticed the strange attitude of the suspect while dumping the box.

He said, “They traced the ground marks made by the box to the point where the body of the SAN was dumped and thereafter traced the mark to the house of the deceased.

“When the police got to deceased’s house, the suspect was in a relaxed mood.

“When interrogated, the suspect earlier lied that his dad had gone on evangelism, but he eventually confessed to the crime when he was taken to the Redemption Camp Divisional headquarters.”

The suspect was said to have told policemen that problem arose when his late father confronted him for not responding to all the prayer points he (the deceased) was raising, adding that he (father) later slapped him.

He said he got angry and made a dash for the kitchen and picked up a knife, with which he stabbed his father, adding that he later used a cutlass on him.

It was learnt that the police had recovered the knife and cutlass used in committing the alleged crime.

Adejobi told Punch correspondent that Charles’ corpse had been deposited at a morgue in the Sagamu area of the state.

PUNCH Metro also gathered that the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ikemefuna Okoye, had transferred the matter to the Department of Criminal Investigation Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and necessary action.

An insider revealed this shortly after the actor, who usually acts with Charles Inojie and Mr Ibu in movies, travelled to Brazil for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

It was disclosed that Charles was among those sponsored for the trip by the telecoms company.

According to a source, who is close to the actor, Charles is very happy about this development and he was said to have expressed gratitude to God saying, ‘when it is your time, nothing can change God’s plan in your life. Charles Awurum will soon be unveiled as a Glo Ambassador.”

“The company has already started discussing with him and he is in Brazil for the World Cup and he was sponsored to Brazil by Glo.”

Furthermore, the source said that, ”Charles has really suffered in the industry. He married late just because he wanted to be financially stable. There is no money in Nollywood except for those that are doing ‘runs’, which most actresses do by sleeping with rich men in the society. I am really happy for him because he has paid his dues.”

Glo already has an array of celebrities as its brand ambassadors among who are D’Banj, Wande Coal, Omawumi, Helen Paul, MI, Burna Boy, Funke Akindele and several others.
