Pastor Rapes Student After Giving Her ‘Anointing Oil’
A 25-year-old Pastor, Isaac Asante, has been arrested by the Tesano Police for having carnal knowledge of a 19-year-old student of Akwamuman Senior High School and a resident of North Kaneshie Dance Bar in Accra.
The accused who is a pastor and student of MC Jakes Theological and Ministerial Bible College at Sowutoum and also resides at Tabora Alhaji was arraigned before an Accra Magistrate court.
Speaking to the court, the Prosecuting, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) A. A. Annor said the accused got to know the complainant through “tango,’ a social media platform, sometime in January 2014 and introduced himself as a pastor under training at the aforementioned college.
On the day of the incident, 12 March, 2014, at about 5.30 pm, Pastor Asante met the complainant around Tabora Alhaji lorry park and told her that the area was too noisy and so lured her to Maxhan Movie House for ‘further prayers.’ While they were in the room the accused took a red handkerchief and a new bottle of anointing oil and after some prayers, poured some of the content for the complainant to drink. He then administered a portion of the same oil onto the red handkerchief and placed it on the bed and asked her to lie on it. Some minutes later, the complainant felt dizzy, weak and slept off only to wake up later to realize that Pastor Asante had had sexual intercourse with her. He also used the red handkerchief to wipe off the blood running down the legs of the victim.
According to the prosecutor, the accused warned the complainant not to shout or call for help as he threatened to kill her. He later put the complainant in a taxi that took her home.
The prosecutor further told the court that the case was reported at the Tesano Police Station where the victim was issued with a Medical Form that she sent to the Police Hospital and the accused was subsequently arrested and upon interrogation, admitted the offence.
Charged with rape, Asante, who was not represented by a counsel, had his plea reserved and was remanded into police custody to reappear on April 22.

APC Condemns Nigeria's GDP Rebasing Exercise.
The All Progressives Congress said that by rebasing Nigeria's
Gross Domestic Product (GDP) the Federal Government only 'ridiculed'
itself.
This position was expressed in a statement issued on Thursday by the APC Interim National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.
Nigeria became the largest African economy after its GDP was rebased on Sunday, April 6.
The APC said that the rebasing was the FG's response to the World Bank report that had declared Nigeria a country with one of highest levels of poverty.
To support its point, the APC referred to statistics form other sources.
GDP rebasing is a common statistical procedure undertaken to ensure that national accounts statistics present the most accurate reflection of the economy as possible. It is a process of replacing present price structure (base year) to compile volume measures of GDP with a new (more recent) base year.
Nigeria's old GDP base year was 1990. Now 2008 is the base year.
After rebasing, Nigeria's GDP grew by 89% – from N42.4trillion to N80.2 trillion. However, this has not made Nigerians richer as nearly 100 million of them live on less than $1 a day.

The APC said that the rebasing was the FG's response to the World Bank report that had declared Nigeria a country with one of highest levels of poverty.
"The federal government has only succeeded in opening itself to ridicule," the APC said. "The largest economy with the largest population of the poor, the largest economy with the largest population of unemployed, the largest economy with the largest population of citizens living in darkness, and the largest economy with the worst infrastructure," it added.According to the statement, this shows that Nigeria's economic growth celebrated by the current administration is "not a result of deliberate public policies".
"Policies of government are expected to result in reduction in unemployment, increase in capacity utilization by manufacturers, increased access to basic needs of life, … increase in transparency and accountability, etc."The APC further said that what the FG managed to achieve by rebasing GDP was the shift of public attention pressing problems such as insecurity, inadequate power supply and unemployment.
To support its point, the APC referred to statistics form other sources.
"The business community has noted that while Nigeria, with the rebased GDP, is now ranked number 26 with regard to the size of the economy in 2013, it is ranked 147 in its ease of Doing Business report of the World Bank, out of the 189 countries profiled. Even Sierra Leone and Liberia had better ranking. In the same vein, our ranking in the UNDP Human Development Index is 153, out of 210 countries. There is no better illustration of the disconnect between growth and development."Gross Domestic Product, or simply GDP, is the market value of all final goods and services produced within a country in a given period, usually one year.

Woman Tried To Kidnap Baby Through Window, Caught By Father
For allegedly trying to steal a year old girl from her parents’
house early this morning, a 31-year old woman is currently being
interrogated by the police at Ajuwon Station for kidnapping.
The suspect, Blessing Aransiola, was caught by the girl’s father, Mr. Seye Adanri, 34, as she attempted to escape with the girl, Oreoluwa Adanri.
Narrating the incident this morning at the Ajuwon Police Station where the suspect was taken to, mother of the girl, Mrs. Adebisi Adanri, 29, who lives with her husband at 21, Ademola Coker Street, Alagbole, Ogun State, said she was woken up by the cry of her daughter in the hands of the suspect around 4.a.m.
“She was trying to run away when my husband ran after her and caught her. I raised an alarm to draw neighbours’ attention to the incident and everybody came out to assist us,” Mrs. Adanri narrated.
She disclosed further that the suspect got into her house by tearing the window net.
“She picked up the baby as she was sleeping on the bed by the window and stole N5,000 kept in a purse,” she added.
But in her statement to the police, Blessing, who said she was homeless, denied stealing the baby and the money.
She told her interrogators that she was looking for where to sleep when she saw that there was a verandah near the window of the couple’s house.
“I was looking for a place to sleep when I saw the verandah. I was trying to sit down when the net got torn. I was wandering about, I didn’t steal any baby or money.
Last year November I sustained injury on my leg and I couldn’t walk properly again. Later, I developed problems in my eyes and I couldn’t see. Since then I have been moving about,” she stated.
She disclosed further that she was living at 5, Modupeola Street, Iju-Ishaga when co-tenants conspired against her and labelled her a thief, adding that this made the landlord to send her packing.
“I am not a thief. They accused me of kidnapping but I am not a kidnapper, I was just wandering about because I have nowhere to sleep. I did not kidnap any child,” she stated.
A resident of the area, Labinjo Abayomi, warned that the police at Ajuwon should not try to cover up the case, adding that residents were ready to ensure that the suspect was brought to book.
Another resident who identified himself as Soji Ademuyiwa commended the parents of the girl for not sleeping with both eyes closed, adding that but for their vigilance, the suspect would have taken the baby away.

Woman Who Orgasms 50 Times A Day Tells Her Story, Hopes To Cure Disease After Finding Love
Amanda Gryce, 24, suffers from Persistent Genital Arousal Disorder which has blighted her life for more than a decade.
A young woman has told how her life has been blighted by a rare condition which causes her to orgasm uncontrollably up to 50 times a day.
Once at the edge of despair, Amanda is now turning her life around after finding love - and much needed medical treatment.
However, under doctors’ orders Amanda and boyfriend Stuart Triplett, 22, must abstain from sexual contact.
Amanda said: “The condition is called Persistent Genital Arousal Disorder and it’s something that I’ve been living with since I was about 6. Different kind of things that can trigger my PGAD are vibrations, riding in cars and riding with a loud bass. It can happen anywhere and sometimes I’ll have five back to back. It’s not pleasurable - it has become like torture.”
Seven months ago Amanda met restaurant worker Stuart on a dating website and fell in love.
And despite previously having sex to cope when her symptom were bad, she now has to stay celibate.
She said: “It was difficult at first to come out about my disorder to Stuart.
I wasn’t sure when was the right time or how he was going to react.
But he’s so supportive, he completely understands and he is just my rock.
Stuart's really been holding me back as far as the intimacy goes - he actually has to remind me we’re not allowed to do anything.”
For years Amanda suffered in silence, too ashamed to tell friends or even family.
She said: "I can have 50 orgasms in one day and five or ten within an hour of each other.
It happens when I'm with my friends or out in public and it's very embarrassing.
It kills me inside. I just have to put on a smile and pretend that nothing's wrong."
And she battled doctors who didn’t understand PGAD or how to treat it.
She said: “Since last year I’ve been on a quest to find out more about this condition.
It’s been one disappointment after another thanks to the reluctance of some doctors to see this as a valid condition.”
But after making contact with pelvic pain expert Dr Robert Echenberg, Amanda hopes she has found a way to control her orgasms.
Amanda said: “After seeing Dr Echenberg I found there are things which can reduce the intensity of the orgasms - even though they are still constant.
I take medication to numb the areas and do exercise to try to take me mind of it.
Taking control over the disorder rather then it controlling me is a dream come true.”
Recently Amanda visited physical therapist Gina Parsonis in Clearwater, Florida, who examined how her body reacts to the condition.
Now Amanda and Stuart hope to move in together and plan their future together.

Stuart said: “I suppose you could say it was love at first sight with Amanda.
Dealing with her symptoms at first was kind of a challenge because I didn’t quite know how to approach it the right way.
As far as the sex ban goes, it was kind of hard to cope with but then I realised that it’s important to her health that she doesn’t do this so I’ve been able to abstain as well as her.
I’ll continue to do whatever I can to support her."
Amanda added: “This past year has been amazing. Meeting Stuart and Dr Echenberg, I finally feel like I'm going to have a more normal life - and eventually a positive sex life."

Rosie also gave us an update on their wedding; Damilola and Chris have decided to postpone the wedding till later this year or early next year. Dami wants “a fairytale wedding” she said. We can’t wait for the baby and the wedding. (BN)

2015 Presidency : PDP Okays Automatic Ticket For Jonathan
President Goodluck Jonathan is set to run as the sole candidate of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at its November 2014 presidential primary. Reason: the national leadership of the party has secretly agreed to allow the president take the presidential ticket without any opposition from within. By implication, the deal on the much-touted automatic ticket for President Jonathan has been sealed.
Regardless of the automatic ticket deal already struck in favour of Jonathan, the leadership of the PDP will not entrench it in the constitution of the party “in order to avoid needless crisis in the future”, LEADERSHIP was told in confidence.
According to an impeccable source, a member of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT), the decision to give President Jonathan the “right of first refusal” became necessary for two reasons: the need to avoid bickering and deepen internal party democracy and the absence of any serious presidential aspirant in the party.
Nonetheless, the source was ambivalent on whether or not same gesture would be extended to PDP governors serving their first terms.
“You can see how interesting the entire political landscape is looking now; in the APC, there is turmoil over Muslim-Muslim ticket; they cannot agree to conduct peaceful ward congresses; yet, their target has always been the PDP and the Presidency.
“As a party, the APC lacks all democratic norms but it is the PDP they always abuse even at odd times without reasons. What you have seen in the APC is just a tip of the iceberg; that party will soon erupt in flames, and that is why I pity those PDP governors who abandoned their party to join them, thinking that there will be room enough for them.
“All those who said they were leaving the party because PDP was planning to impose Jonathan and Sambo with the belief that they would either be presidential candidates or running mates to someone have all been disappointed now; they have seen that, unlike the PDP, APC has landlords and tenants.”
Asked if it was democratic for the party to contemplate automatic ticket for Jonathan, the PDP chieftain said it was nothing new in democracy: “It is not a new thing in democracy; every democracy has its own peculiarities. In any case, if the governors left because of that, what is worse between having a Muslim-Muslim ticket without any democratic process and one which is implemented through the rules?
“In our own case, yes, we have been alleged to be planning to impose Jonathan but we shall follow very enviable democratic principles to have him as our candidate; for the first time, Nigerians will witness respect for party rules and institutions because we have to deepen democracy.
“It is annoying and very distracting for a sitting president to go through the rigours of party nomination when in actual fact he is entitled to another term in office. The best thing to do is to allow him move on and that exactly is what the leadership of the party has already agreed to do for President Jonathan come October or November this year. I can bet you that he would be the sole candidate of the PDP at the primary.”
On the governors, he said, “What is of paramount interest is what I have told you.”
LEADERSHIP gathered that, at a meeting of party stalwarts at the presidential villa sometime in March this year, it was agreed that the last National Executive Committee (NEC) before the presidential primary will endorse the president for another term.
However, in order to avoid legal complications, even though President Jonathan would stand as the sole candidate, delegates would have to vote to ratify the NEC’s decision.
PDP’s national publicity secretary Olisa Metuh was circumspect in his reaction to the issue. “The party will follow its constitution to the letter; anything outside the constitution will not be done and once you lay hands on our constitution, the provisions are clear and unambiguous,” Metuh said on telephone.
Automatic ticket, a must – Group
Meanwhile, a pseudo campaign group, National Coalition for Jonathan/Sambo Presidency (NCFJSP), has demanded automatic ticket for President Jonathan.
Presenting the group’s position to the national secretary of the PDP, Professor Wale Oladipo, the national secretary of the Coalition for Jonathan/Sambo Presidency, Dr Benjamin Irikefe, said the group was impressed with the achievements of the Jonathan administration.
The group called on the PDP Board of Trustees and the National Executive Committee (NEC) to convene separate emergency meetings of the two organs and pass resolutions adopting the incumbent president as its candidate for 2015.
“Our irrevocable decision to call on the leadership of the PDP to grant this automatic ticket to Mr President is also premised on the fact that we genuinely believe, and the records are conspicuously there for all to see, that there is no alternative to President Jonathan till 2015. He has the proven capacity and track records to prevent Nigeria from chaos, disintegration and monumental ruins,” it said.
National secretary of the ruling party Professor Wale Oladipo, who received the delegation on behalf of the national chairman of the party, Adamu Mu’azu, assured them that the party would do the needful.
“I thank you for the support for the leader of the party, Dr Goodluck Jonathan. Your message is very clear and we shall communicate to the PDP Board of Trustees and all other organs of the party. We believe in rule of law and we will be guided by two things: the Nigerian Constitution and the PDP Constitution,” he stated.
It was unclear whether the push for automatic ticket for President Jonathan through various campaign bodies was a strategy being adopted by initiators of the move to pressurise the leadership of the party to fall in line.
Only a few weeks ago, former governor of Zamfara State and board chairman of the National Coalition for Jonathan and Sambo Presidency, Alhaji Aliyu Mamuda Shinkafi, told those vying to unseat President Jonathan in 2015 to forget it as there was no vacancy in the nation’s seat of power until 2019.
Shinkafi made the statement in Abuja at the inaugural ceremony of the zonal executive councils and state chairman of the association.
PDP BoT chairman, Chief Tony Anenih, had last year canvassed the idea of an automatic ticket for the president and first-term governors on the party’s platform. (AJETUN)
