How to Cope With Frustration

Frustration is a form of poorly expressed anger. Frustration is about expecting the world and its inhabitants to be a certain way. In reality, things are as they are and no amount of ranting and steaming is going to change that. What you do need to change is your perspective.

Steps:

Cope With Frustration Step 1.jpgLook for the triggers that cause you to feel frustration. Common ones include:

  • Impatience at the speed of people, systems, or results
  • Slow comprehension of facts or a situation by another person
  • Lack of reliability of a person, item, or system
  • General sense of unfairness or injustice about things that are occurring in your life
  • Poor communications resulting in something not being done at all, or on time
  • Wanting things your own way without compromiseCope With Frustration Step 2.jpg Think through your answers. Do any of the above situations apply to you? If so, note down why. Draw another column and suggest ways that you might address each frustration in a fruitful manner instead. For example:
  • "I get frustrated when the traffic crawls to halt and I am sitting in it, sweating. Counter thought: "I do hate the traffic being slow but I can avoid it by leaving earlier or later; or I can ride a bike instead."
  • "I cannot stand the way George is so slow at understanding the point of every exercise! I'm tearing out my hair!" Counter thought: "I know that George is a slow learner but my goodness, when he grasps the concepts finally, there is no stopping him and he is often the person who points out errors as we go along, helping us to avoid greater problems at the end of the project. I need to be patient with him and remember that he has this latent skill."
  • "Jenny never turns up on time. It's as if she is deliberately trying to ruin every occasion I spend with her!" Counter-thought: "Jenny has a problem with punctuality. It's not my problem unless I make it one. Instead, I need to either make her arrive on time by suggesting she arrive at a time half an hour earlier than the real time set, or I just need to get on with enjoying myself until she does arrive, in the full knowledge that that is her way."
  • "Everything is so unfair! Even the weather is against me making my hair all lank and horrible. The people on the street are deliberately bumping into me. The taxi was late and I was late going into the meeting as a result. The whole world is against me!" Counter thought: "It's just one of those days where things happen over which I have little control. All the same, next time I will book my taxi for half an hour earlier to make time for possible delays. And as for my hair, it is probably time to see the hair stylist anyway!"  Cope With Frustration Step 3.jpg Breathe deeply and count when you feel a bout of frustration coming on. This is a good opportunity to create your reaction rather than to react and create your frustration. One deep breath, followed by a slow count to ten, during which time you let your thoughts go. Return to reality and consider the situation before you carefully and with a reality check. Ask yourself:
  • Are things really as I perceive them?
  • What sort of reaction can I give that will properly express my concern, my annoyance, my wishes?
  • What good and positive words can I use to express the need for seeing things my way too?
  • Am I seeing things in other people's way too?Cope With Frustration Step 4.jpg Remember that frustration is born of wanting things or people to be a certain way that is fixed in your head. Your expectations of others and of how the world works is formed over many years of experiences and sometimes your personal overlay is defective; it might have been a source of self-protection once but when it continues to advise you poorly for future experiences, then it is stuck in time, and generally plain wrong. When you cease to expect other people to act in a certain way, when you start to look at the world with fresh eyes again and expect nothing apart from the fact that you are a member of a community of individuals and a world of many happenings, then you start to realize that things happen, people are the way that they are, and most importantly of all, how you react matters. For example:
  • Let's say that somebody yells at you for accidentally standing on the street, as you intend to cross the road at the same time that they're coming around. There is no real fault here. You thought the road was clear, the driver did too. Neither of you had malicious intent. To take offense at the driver's fear of running you over is to place an interpretation on this event that isn't there; instead, accept that the driver was scared they'd hurt you (and that's a good intent) and that your piece in the action was equal. Simply apologize, acknowledge your own scare in the situation, and move on.Cope With Frustration Step 5.jpgPractice talking back to yourself every time that frustration arises. It takes a long time to overcome what has become essentially a very comforting but demoralizing habit. While it might feel justified to feel a sense of outrage, persecution, and insult, where do those types of self-pitying feelings ultimately lead you? They lead to personal stagnation and a victimhood type mentality that prevents you from growing as a human being and from experiencing what the whole world truly has to offer. Don't give up on letting go the grip of frustration; it will take time but it will happen if you put in a concerted effort to change your perspective.

Law school student, 30, commits suicide

A 30-year-old student of the Nigerian Law School, Abuja, Auwal Haruna, allegedly committed suicide on Monday by hanging himself on the ceiling fan in his hotel room in Takum.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Joseph Kwaji, confirmed the incident to newsmen in Jalingo on Monday, saying the matter was under investigation.
According to him, the body of the deceased was found dangling from a ceiling fan at Mairiga Guest Inn, Takum.
He said the deceased, until his death, was a suspect in a case of murder involving his younger brother, Ahmed, who allegedly connived with their mother, Aisha, to murder their father, Haruna Mohammed.
He said that the deceased’s brother (Ahmed), 27, was being detained for abducting and hanging his father to death in the suburb of Gembu over his father’s alleged marriage of a second wife against the wishes of his wife.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that there is an upsurge in suicide cases in Taraba.
Kwaji attributed the increase in cases of suicide to drug abuse and frustration.
“Most of these young men commit suicide as a result of drug abuse and frustration in life.
“Suicide is not the solution to our problems. Killing oneself is not only contrary to the laws of the land, but also against our religions,’’ Kwaji said.
NAN recalls that two incidents of suicide were recorded in Jalingo in February.
One involved a 400 Level student of the Taraba University, Friday Samson, 32, who poisoned himself to death over lack of funds to pay his school fees.
The other incident involved a watchman, Saidu Babura, 45, who hung himself on a tree at Hassan Primary School, Jalingo, after an alleged battle against drug abuse.
In January, 21 year-old Mansur Tanko burnt himself to death in Jalingo because his father, Tanko Mijinyawa, allegedly refused to approve of his plan to marry. (NAN)

Victims Of Immigration Tragedy Respond To Moro’s Apology

Following Abba Moro's apology to those who got hurt during the immigration stampede, the ECULAW & CO. and the Due Process Advocates Group has said the minister did not apologize to the rela victims but rather to those he felt he would apologize to.

photoIn a statement by the group, signed by its president, Emeka Ugwuonye, the group said they felt obliged to respond on behalf of the victims so as to avoid the confusion over the Minister’s so-called apology.
"Mr Abba Moro apologized to Nigerians at large, and he is certainly justified in that because his actions offended every Nigerian. You may recall that right after the incident, during the Executive Council meeting held on Wednesday, 19th March 2014, Mr. Abba Moro apologized to his colleagues in the President’s Cabinet and the Presidency. Those, in turn, commiserated with and condoled the President for what happened. However, none of such demonstrations crocodile regrets could amount to a show of remorse and true apology to the real victims, my clients. What is happening is the continued politicization of this tragedy by Mr. Moro and his supporters within the Government," Emeka said.
The Minister of Interior, Mr. Abba Moro, had on Sunday, apologised to Nigerians over the recent recruitment tragedy that happened on March 15th, which took the lives of 16 applicants and several others got injured.
According to Emeka, Moro did not mean to apologize to anybody but instead, he is interested in ingratiating himself and trying to look good despite all that happened.
He said, "Nowhere in his words did he admit that he did anything wrong and that is a key element of every apology. Also, he did not show any remorse, and he did assure the victims that he would not repeat his conduct. Rather, Mr. Moro extols his actions as something that amounted to “an open and transparent exercise”. He further described what he did as wanting to “give employment to Nigerians, irrespective of background and connections.” But that is a big lie. Otherwise, how many children of Nigerian Ministers and Senators were among those that suffocated and were trampled upon at the various stadiums on 15th March 2014? Mr. Moro knows that only the poor and unconnected Nigerians were victims of this botch exercise. So, he lies in his teeth when he claims he was out to do something for Nigerians irrespective of connections and backgrounds."
Emeka however said Mr. Moro must accept responsibility for his actions by resigning as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, adding that Moro must answer to the court case filed against him and he should be in court on April 22, 2014 to explain himself.

Immigration Tragedy: Abba Moro Apologizes To Those Who Got Hurt

Mr Abba Moro, the Minister of Interior asked for forgiveness to all those who got hurt in the recent immigration recruitment stampede.

On Sunday, the Minister apologized to all the families of the deceased and injured applicants when answering questions to the newsmen in Abuja.
According to the data of the News Agency of Nigeria, the recruitment tragedy that happened on March 15th, took lives of 16 applicants and several others got injured.
Moro said, “I want Nigerians to understand the motive and intention behind the entire process of an open and transparent exercise.

                             Mr Abba Moro

“This was the first of its kind in the ministry and it was intended primarily to give employment to Nigerians, irrespective of background and connections.’’
According to the Minister, it was planned by the ministry that an open recruitment will be organized in order not to be suspected in job racketeering and to correct all the mistakes they made the previous time.
He also noted that he felt sorry that some applicants got injured and others died in process.
Minister also claimed he is the one to be responsible for any outcome of the event, no matter whether it is possitive or negative. Moro also asked for forgiveness and understanding from the families of the deceased.
“The deaths of these young Nigerians, who would have added value to the human resource of the country, is highly regrettable. “I crave the highest level of understanding of every Nigerian. If we had foreseen these deaths, we would have stopped the exercise,” he added.
Minister Moro also explained that the unfortunate event in 2012 made them go for more intense preparations in 2014. According to him, the recruitment ministry board had several meetings and discussions over the procedures of how the exercise was taken.

How Pastor Impregnated Woman & Daughter

The pastor of a popular Pentecostal Church located along Nnebisi Road, Asaba, Delta State has allegedly impregnated a 45-year-old woman and her 14-year-old daughter.

The pastor identified as Pastor Sam who is currently on the run was said to have impregnated them under the guise of conducting prayers for them to deliver them of evil spirits that had been battling them.
According to report, after the death of her husband, the mother of three and her daughter have been under evil spells after elders of the Illah community where they live, had consulted seers who accused the woman and her teenage daughter of having a hand in his death.
The woman and her daughter were introduced to Pastor Sam in December 2013 and he had promised to deliver them from the spell. They have been consulting with the pastor until last week when they both took ill and were taken to a private hospital in Asaba by their neighbours.
After several tests at the hospital, the doctors confirmed both of them pregnant and they claimed the pastor was responsible.
After the news of the pregnancy broke out, the pastor was said to have deserted his church and left to an unknown destination.
Elizabeth Agu, the elder sister of the pregnant woman who confirmed the incident said, they've been trying to reach the pastor on his mobile phone but its been futile as his phone switched off and his whereabouts unknown.

The world and Ghana keeps getting scarier by the day, the photo above is of a boy who was arrested for beheading another boy, reasons for the beheading unknown but obviously for some spiritual works as young men of today will do anything for quick money.
The Techiman police nabbed the boy and the photo you see above was taken. Is this fair?

SHOCKING CONFESSION: “I Use Spiritual Power To Kill Men Through Sex & Collect Their Manhood”

Some female teenagers came out before the priest at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Umushene, Umuida, Enugu Ezike in Enugu State to make shocking confessions of how they have used their spiritual powers to destroy the lives of men through sex.

They made these confessions during a vigil organised by the Okunerere Catholic Adoration Ministries (OCAM) between Friday and last Saturday.

She walked up to the stage accompanied by her mother. Her name is Nwafor Linda Ogochukwu from Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State. Clad in a sleeveless gown, she looked every inch pretty. With the microphone in her hands, she confessed that she was a member of the Oceaner occultic group, a dreaded Ogbanje (mermaid) cult.
She claimed members of the group meet once every six months in Nsukka for strategizing and review of operations. She said she has used the power given her in the occult world to destroy many young men, adding that any man that kisses her or had a sexual affair with her either dies afterwards or loses his manhood. The 15-year-old girl added that she had killed seven men so far.

“I am the princess of the kingdom who gives orders that must be obeyed. We live in the water and anyone that disobeys us must be punished with the same water we live in but this time the water will be turned to hot ashes which we pour on the offender. Water is our happiness and our doom also. We command our members to go and cause accident, destroy unborn children and destinies.
“I was earlier born to Imo State parents but I died after six years and later came back to the world to another family in Nsukka. We are five in number existing in planet earth and have wreaked untold havoc. I was supposed to have died again in May 2013 but I kept postponing my death at a great risk because of the love I have for mummy and my boyfriend,” she confessed.

Another teenager, Chizoba Ossai from Umuopu community, Enugu Ezike, also stepped forward to recount how he has been having sex with fellow men through evil powers and collected their manhood in the process.
Chizoba, who had bruises all over his face, injuries inflicted on him by angry mob that caught him recently in his unholy act, confessed that he uses evil powers to hypnotize his victims after preaching the word of God to them.
“Our cult family operates from Nkisi River in Onitsha and I got initiated through swimming. If the spirit enters me, I will lose control of myself and will walk straight to any man around me, preach to him the word of God and the man will lose his senses, thereby allowing me to have my way. I will use him and collect his manhood in the process and has so far collected from eight men.

The confession of a small boy, aged about six, shocked the gathering. According to the boy identified as Kingsley who hails from Imilike Ani in Enugu State and a pupil at Imilike Ani Primary School, he had killed nine persons, including his mother, and also made his father perpetually poor, turned his brother to a dwarf and prevented his elder sister from getting a man to marry her through the power of witchcraft.

“We are about 22 but our leader is dead. We have killed nine, including my mother, whom I was directed to bring. I killed her when I gave her the biscuit given to us by our leader”, he added.
When Fr. Obayi asked him how he made his step mother’s six children not to marry, the little boy brought out six pieces of stick which he tied together with a rope and told the shocked worshippers that after tying them together, he took it to their leader and they performed rituals on it and since then, nobody has ever come forward to seek the girls’ hands in marriage.

He equally admitted making his own brother a dwarf, adding: “I brought out a lizard and placed a block on it which means that the boy cannot grow up.”
His step mother in tears narrated to the bewildered audience how nothing moves in their home since the boy came to live with them following his mother’s death.

Fr. Obayi later prayed for all of them and warned them of the consequences of returning to their old wicked ways.
Efforts to speak with Fr Obayi after the service and days later failed until one of his personal assistants, Macson Justice Nwasike was contacted to help. When he eventually granted Saturday Sun audience, the cleric was confronted with the issue of proliferation of miracle centres and staged-managed deliverance in some churches. He simply dismissed such people and declared: “By their fruits, we shall know them”.

“Anything that is not real cannot last and will be exposed in the future. Something that is real will always be real for ever. I have heard cases like that but I know that where there is real, there is also fake but I urge people never to forge or stage-manage miracles because it doesn’t give God glory. Man does not compel God to do miracles and He is angry about those who use His name to manipulate things”, he added.
In a brief remark, Macson Justice advised Christians to pray for ministers of God engaged in deliverance activities because they are often the targets of the devil.

He noted that God has used Fr. Obayi to liberate strongholds in the area but it has not been easy. He gave an instance on how four deadly snakes suddenly invaded the adoration ground on a Tuesday afternoon during consultation.

I personally cannot celebrate until all Nigerians can feel the positive impact of our growth - GEJ

Yesterday, our Gross Domestic Product was rebased to give an accurate picture of where we are as a nation. I am glad to report to you that Nigeria is officially the largest economy in Africa with a Gross Domestic Product of $510 billion which also places us as the 26th largest economy in the world.

This feat is a collective achievement of all Nigerians particularly when you take into account the fact that our Per Capita Income had increased by over 60% from $1091 in 2009 to $1700 in 2013, prior to the rebasing.

While this calls for celebration, I personally cannot celebrate until all Nigerians can feel the positive impact of our growth. There are still too many of our citizens living in poverty.

Three years ago, I was asked to define Transformation and I said "Transformation in my view simply means taking what you have and making the best of it and in so doing produce results that can bring about a paradigm shift".

That positive paradigm shift, as occurred yesterday, is still a work in progress.

Regardless of our present challenges, our place as a nation at the table of greatness is assured. GEJ.
