N7.9 billion cash: EFCC grants Okorocha bail

After spending two nights in its custody, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, yesterday, released former governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, on administrative bail. But the EFCC had to vary the bail terms before Senator Okorocha could meet the terms and be able to go home after spending 48 hours with his interrogators.

A source said the anti-graft agency had demanded that the former governor produced two former governors or two serving senators from the South East as a condition for his bail but he objected to it on the grounds that it would be difficult to achieve that within the short period at his disposal.

Based on the objection, Okorocha’s legal team filed for a variation of the bail conditions, which the EFCC finally granted. Vanguard, however, learned that the former governor was able to produce a ranking Senator from the Northeast as a guarantor for his release from EFCC custody. A source in EFCC confirmed that the former governor would have another date with the operatives but did not specify the date he is expected to reappear. The whole gamut of the interrogation, according to the source, relates to the N7.9 billion allegedly traced in many banks to the former governor, something he has repeatedly denied and had written a statement in that regard as part of his submission on Wednesday night to the anti-graft agency. The spokesman for the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed the release of the former governor but declined to give details on the matter. Okorocha was arrested on Tuesday by EFCC operatives on the suspicion of diverting Imo State funds into private property and banks but he has consistently denied the claim by the EFCC. It was not clear as of last night if the EFCC had gathered adequate evidence to charge him and his associates linked with the cash and choice property to the court.

COVID-19: Traditional ruler tells Nigerians to set aside fears, take vaccine

Eze Samuel Ohiri, former chairman of Imo Council of Traditional Rulers, on Wednesday, urged Nigerians not to entertain fears about safety of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, have recommended that America suspended the Johnson & Johnson’s COVID-19 vaccine, after six cases of a “rare and severe” type of blood clot was reported. The cases were reported among women between the ages of 18 and 48 years, and the symptoms occurred six to 13 days after vaccination. Ohiri, a medical laboratory graduate and also chairman of HI-TECHDIAGNOSTICS LIMITED, manufacturers of Diagnostic Test Kits, however, told NAN in Abuja, that both Johnson & Johnson and the Astrazeneca vaccines were safe for humans. “The U.S. Government has taken this action just out of an abundance of caution. It is prudence to make sure that the risk, if any, is not significant.

“Again, looking at the data, only six cases of this blood clot, out of about six million people who have received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine in the United States, to me is very insignificant. “I believe that both Johnson & Johnson and the Astrazeneca vaccine being used in Nigeria, are Safe,” he said. The royal father, who reiterated confidence in the vaccination process, said it was the roadmap to genuinely containing the virus, as well as achieving national immunity. He strongly advocated for universal immunisation for global wellness, aimed at restoring prosperity both in health and wealth. Ohiri, however, advised the public to disregard insinuations that could undermine the reality of the dangers COVID-19 and its emerging strains, posed to health. (NAN)

Hackers gain access into JAMB’s website, divert over N10m

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says hackers have gained access into its intranet site and reportedly diverted over N10m after altering the profiles of its ad hoc staff.

This was made known by the Registrar of the exam body, Ishaq Oloyede, while addressing journalists in Abuja on Tuesday April 13.

Oloyede who disclosed that the diverted money was the allowance of the board’s ad hoc staff, said it was uncovered after an investigation was carried out.

The investigation also led to the arrest of one Sahabi Zubairu from Takum in Taraba state alongside others.

On how the fraudsters gained access to the profiles, Oloyede explained that they used Key Logger, a software that allows access to the profile of anyone who has logged in using a public cybercafé even after the person has logged out and gone.

He said that the site wasn’t for application to become JAMB ad hoc staff, but for JAMB ad hoc staff to supply their account details and names for payment of their allowances.

Oloyede said Zubairu deleted the names of the original ad hoc staff and their telephone numbers and substituted them with his, adding that those affected include code numbers 313 and 312, among others.

The JAMB registrar also disclosed that the accounting department failed to detect the fraud by not cross-checking the names on the accounts to ensure that they tallied with those listed on the website or owners of the codes.

Revealing that the ad hoc staff of the board have since been paid and also giving an assurance of the stolen money being recovered, Oloyede further stated that payment into the accounts of the beneficiaries led to the divertion.

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian agree joint custody after divorce

Kim Kardashian And Kanye West Have Agreed To Joint Custody Of Their Kids After Divorcing Over Their "Different Visions" For How To Raise Them.

Kanye West has agreed to joint custody of his and Kim Kardashian's four young children.

His response mirrors Kardashian's divorce filing from 19 February, which began the process of ending their almost seven year marriage.

In both of their filings, the US rapper and the TV reality star agreed that their marriage should end over irreconcilable differences.

They have also agreed that they do not need spousal support.

West and Kardashian have two daughters - North and Chicago, age seven and three respectively- and two sons - Saint, five, and Psalm, who turns two next month.

According to Kardashian's filing, they kept their property separate throughout their marriage because of the terms of a pre-nuptial agreement.

The couple are among the most recognizable stars in the world and are both hugely successful in their own right. Their marriage was one of the most closely followed in recent decades.

Kardashian, 40, first found fame in 2007 as the star of reality TV show about her family, Keeping Up With The Kardashians. The show has remained popular since then and is due to air its final series on the E! cable network next year.

Last week her multiple business ventures - including make up, shapewear and mobile apps - saw her gain billionaire status.

West, 43, is one of the biggest names in rap music, known for global hits like Stronger, Jesus Walks and Gold Digger. He has also found success as a fashion designer.

Last year, West unsuccessfully ran for US president. During his campaign, a series of erratic public appearances and online postings by the rapper sparked concern and led Kardashian to speak out.

She said her husband had bipolar disorder, was a "brilliant but complicated person" and called for greater empathy surrounding his mental health from the public and the media.

A man took to his heels after his cat posed in an ‘occulted’ way, that made the man scared.

The American man identified as Tom Reynolds, expressly regretted exploring artefacts from the séance store in Brooklyn, New York after an item he bought forced him to abandon his home.

He bought a mirror which is believed to be used in the occult for predicting the future, however, the event that followed his purchase is one that he never foresaw.

Tom who has a black cat, hung his new black mirror on the wall, with the expectation that it will help him become somewhat of a seer.

Unfortunately, he walked in on the cat standing on its legs and staring into the mirror while making some gesticulations.

This scared him and forced him to move to his friend’s place, leaving his cat and the occult mirror behind.

His friend, Matthew Begbie shared the story online along with a photo Tom took before abandoning his house.

According to Matthew, his friend is currently house hunting and wishes to sell off his former house.
