Nollywood actress, Omotola Jalade, has thrown encomium on her daughter Meraiah, who recently was made the head girl in her school.

The actress took to her social media page to express her happiness for her daughter whom she says, has been a source of inspiration to her.

Some months back, actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde and husband Matthew Ekeinde marked their 18th wedding anniversary. Omotola Jalade was born on 7 February, 1978 in Lagos. She grew up in a family of five: her parents (both deceased now) and two younger brothers, Tayo and Bolaji Jalade.

Her husband Matthew is a pilot and ten years her senior. They met when she was just 16, while he was 26, and he proposed two years later. In 2001, the couple held a white ceremony on board of a plane while flying from Lagos to Benin, with close family and friends present. In 1997, Omotola gave birth to their first daughter. Together, the couple have four children, Princess, M.J., Meriaih and Michael Ekeinde.

Mrs. Monica Nwakpuke has been allegedly set ablaze by her husband for giving birth to only female children.
Her husband, Paul Nwakpuke who is a patent medicine dealer, allegedly hired some assassins to kill his wife because she could not give him a male child.

ThisDayLive reports that the three assailants laid ambush for Monica outside her father’s home, a few nights ago and when she eventually came out, they descended on her, blindfolded her, beat her black and blue and kidnapped her on their motorcycle.

“They doused her with fuel, set her on fire and when they discovered that she had been severely burnt to the extent that she may not survive it. They abandoned her and ran from the scene,” sources told ThisDay.
Passersby found her and took her to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki where she is reportedly battling to stay alive.
The victim’s younger brother, Mr. Sunday Nwigbo has said Paul was responsible for the incident. Nwigbo disclosed that Paul had always been furious with his wife of 12 years for only giving birth to female children.
The husband is said to be on the run at the moment

I Want Another Controversy After My Rape Joke—Basketmouth Boasts

Ace Nigerian comedian, Basketmouth, recently lamented about the way some Nigerians react to some issues, which he says is hypocritical.

The comedian, speaking on 'Rubbin Minds', said the r*pe joke was taken out of context by many people, explaining that the joke was not actually celebrating the cankerworm. He further said that he meant no harm on anybody, pleading with those by the joke.

"I am sorry about it, honestly, I am sorry about it, but, I tried as much as possible not to let it consume my creativity because if I start saying, oh you can't talk about this, there shouldn't be any topic that can't be talked about, it's a joke.

“I crack jokes about my own death, do you understand, and people laugh about my own death, it's just a joke. Let's grow beyond this. Definitely, I'm not going to crack a joke about rape again, I shouldn't even be saying the word. I've learnt my lesson, but we shouldn't have limits," he explained.

Basketmouth also confessed that the issue helped him boost the sales of his comedy show in the United Kingdom.

"But I'm happy that controversy came up, it helped me sell my tickets. I sold out, my show was sold out big time, and we even started selling standing tickets. There weren't meant to be standing tickets, regular tickets were supposed to be 25 pounds but because of the controversy, London Guardian carried the story, even compared me with Jimmy Carr, my tickets sold out. We even sold extra 600 standing tickets at 75 pounds! So I'm looking for another controversy, though not that type," he said.

How Nkiru Sylvanus Movie On Kidnap Turned Into Reality

In December 2012, the movie industry was thrown into confusion after an actress, Nkiru Sylvanus was kidnapped in Owerri, Imo State alongside her colleague, Kenneth Okolie. For days, the two actors were in the den of their abductors, who demanded for ransom in order to set them free.

Ironically, the pretty actress and former Special Assistant to Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State on Lagos Affairs was shooting her movie entitled ‘The Voice, and in the flick, Kenneth kidnapped Nkiru, which later turned a reality. Till today, no one has been able to understand that mysterious incident.

According to her, “we continued with the movie as I and Kenneth learnt something from our captors which was helpful to us in our role interpretation.”

‘The Voice’ is set for premiere on July 13, 2014 at the prestigious Oriental Hotel, Lekki, Lagos. The thriller film was written and directed by Afe Olumowe, while Nkiru, who played the lead role, produced it.

Other casts include Kenneth Okolie, Betty Njoku-Olumowe, Larry Briggs and Edwards Fom.

According to the synopsis, Sandy (Nkiru Sylvanus) had been told by a stranger named Jeremiah (Larry Briggs) that she will die in 90 days. To prove that she will truly die, he tells her three unusual events will precede her death. They all happened the way the stranger told her. On the 90th day, another stranger named Solonzo (Kenneth Okolie) turns up and wants her money and may be her life.

So he kidnaps her and holds her hostage until he could assess the 10 million naira cheque she had given him. Would she have the wisdom to live with him and would he have the patience to keep her alive? It is just 5pm, they have till 12 midnight of the 90th day to decide that.

American talk show host and comedian Ellen DeGeneres might have embittered a lot of her Ghanaian followers and the world at large on social networking site Twitter after her ignorant tweet which she quickly deleted but… But some sharp fingers had already captured it, lol.

The talk show host who was excited about the USA goal against Ghana sent the tweet below;
