Hezbollah fires rockets at Israel's Haifa

Hezbollah fires rockets at Israel

Lebanese militant group Hezbollah said it had fired rockets at the city of Haifa in northern Israel on Tuesday, October 8, after the city was hit for the first time in 18 years on Monday, October 7.

Hezbollah, an Iran-backed group, said it had launched a "large rocket salvo" at Haifa and its northern suburbs.

The Israeli military reported more than 100 rockets crossing from Lebanon into Israeli territory on Tuesday, saying some were intercepted.

Hezbollah's attack comes as Israel expands ground invasion of Lebanon.

Earlier, Israel said its troops have begun ground operations in south-west Lebanon. Until now, its invasion had focused on the eastern side of the border

The ground offensive began on September 30, and Israel says it's targeting Hezbollah sites.

About 2,000 Lebanese have been killed since Hezbollah began firing at Israel a year ago in solidarity with Hamas.

Police arraign 25-year-old woman for allegedly refusing to marry man after collecting wigs. iphone, designer bag and other items worth N2.8m from him

The police in Lagos state arraigned a 25-year-old tailor identified as Victoria Effiong, before a Lagos State Magistrates’ Court in Iba last Friday, October 4, for allegedly refusing to marry a suitor after collecting N2.8m among other things, from him.

Effiong is facing three counts bordering on breach of peace, cheating and obtaining by false pretence.

Punch reports that the police prosecutor, Inspector Chinedu Njoku, told the court that the incident occurred on September 25, 2024, at 10 a.m. at Ajanaku Street, Isashi.

‘’Effiong unlawfully cheated the complainant, Dominic Asuquo, by obtaining the sum of N2,866,000 under the pretext of agreeing to marry him, but she failed to follow through.”

The prosecutor further told the court that while the defendant was dating Asuquo, she obtained an iPhone worth N240,000, different clothes, a wristwatch, shoes and bags valued at N350,000.

He also said that the complainant gave the defendant a cash sum of N810,000, and daily feeding money for seven months worth N868,000.

The situation escalated when Asuquo discovered that Effiong was planning to marry another man, despite having introduced him to her parents, who were aware of their relationship.

“Effiong also withdrew N300,000 from Asuquo’s ATM account for shopping,” Njoku added

The defendant who was arraigned before Magistrate Mrs O. M. Ogun, pleaded not guilty to the charges against her.

In her defence, Effiong denied being in any relationship with Asuquo and claimed that he knew she was seeing someone else. She admitted to receiving the iPhone, a smaller phone worth N20,000, money, and other items but insisted that she had told Asuquo to stop sending her money because she was uncomfortable with it.

According to the prosecutor, the offences committed are punishable under Sections 168, (1d), 322, and 314 (2) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.

However, Magistrate Ogun granted her a bail of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

“One of the sureties must be a blood relative, show proof of tax payment to the Lagos State Government, and have their address verified,” the magistrate ruled.

The case was adjourned until November 28, 2024, for mention.

I didn’t hide that I was rigging election as chief of staff to former Rivers Governor Rotimi Amaechi, I should be paid as a whistleblower - Rivers APC chairman Tony Okocha

I didn?t hide that I was rigging election as chief of staff to former Rivers Governor Rotimi Amaechi, I should be paid as a whistleblower - Rivers APC chairman Tony Okocha

Rivers All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman, Chief Tony Okocha, has made startling revelations about his involvement in rigging local council elections during the tenure of former Governor Rotimi Amaechi.

Okocha, who served as Amaechi’s Chief of Staff from 2007 to 2015, made the admission during an interview on Channels TV, adding that the reinstated Rivers APC chairman, Chief Emeka Beke, was allegedly also involved.

Okocha, who was recently removed as Rivers APC Caretaker Committee chairman by a Port Harcourt High Court and replaced by Beke, did not shy away from addressing his role in election rigging. He claimed he should be seen as a "whistleblower" for coming forward.

"On the issue of whether I rigged the election, I did not hide it. I should be paid as a whistleblower," Okocha stated before being interrupted by the interviewer, who remarked that election riggers should be in jail.

Okocha responded, "No. If you were an armed robber yesterday, and today you came to confess that you stole something somewhere yesterday. Are you saying that the law will now take a retroactive effect? The answer is No."

Okocha further explained that his public statements were meant to prevent others from using the same tactics he once employed. "When you have an idea of a thing and you see the other person also wants to use the tactics that you already know. You will shout. That is the reason why we went to court."

When pressed on who was behind the election rigging orders, Okocha directly implicated Beke, saying, "Yes, all of us were together including Emeka Beke."

Beke, who appeared alongside Okocha during the interview, immediately rejected the accusations and warned that the police would arrest Okocha for his admission of rigging. "During the election, was I part of it? Have you ever heard me say rig election?" Beke asked before Okocha countered, "Are you saying that under the Amaechi government, you never participated?"

Beke responded firmly, “I did not follow you to the election. I did not partake in any election whatsoever. When you wake up and confess and you want to put me there. I am not part of that. You rigged the election and we are going to ask the police to arrest you that you rigged the election.”

Former Bad Boy exec gives shocking insight into Diddy's infamous parties

Former Bad Boy exec gives shocking insight into Diddy

A former executive at Sean 'Diddy' Combs' record label has given insight into the rapper's infamous parties as part of a documentary.

LaJoyce Brookshire is the latest person who worked in Diddy's inner circle to speak out as the rapper faces a slew of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking charges.

Brookshire, a former publicity director who worked with Diddy's Bad Boy Entertainment revealed how she could see things were getting out of hand.

'My spidey senses were always on high alert. And I know that there's no safety after a certain hour.

'When you've got drinks flowing and people behind your back doing drugs in bathrooms, and 2 or 3 people walking out of a bathroom together...

When asked by TMZ's Harvey Levin about whether any nefarious deeds took place at the parties, she said: 'Could there potentially be?

Absolutely. Did I see it? No. I never stayed at the party late enough to see... I sensed it.'

The 54-year-old rapper has been held in a New York City jail ever since his arrest last week, deemed too much of a 'threat to the community' by authorities to be let out even after offering a $50 million bond.

The 54-year-old rapper has been held in a New York City jail ever since his arrest last week, deemed too much of a 'threat to the community' by authorities to be let out even after offering a $50 million bond.

Brookshire comments come as wholesale retail giant Costco denied selling baby oil in retort to a statement from Diddy's lawyer, who suggested the rapper had so many bottles of it at his home because he likes to buy in bulk, like any regular American.

The rapper's attorney, Marc Agnifilio, gave the bizarre explanation earlier this week as he was asked about the over 1,000 bottles of baby oil that federal agents reportedly found in Diddy's Miami home.

'I don't think it was 1,000. I think it was a lot. I mean, there is a Costco right down the street. I think Americans buy in bulk, as we know,' Agnifilo told the New York Post.

'And you know these are consensual adults doing what consensual adults do, you know, we can't get so puritanical in this country to think that somehow sex is a bad thing because if it was there would be no more people.'

But Costco, a member's only retailer, has now told TMZ on Thursday that they don't sell baby oil in any of their locations across the country.

Diddy, real name Sean Combs, has been accused of arranging 'Freak Offs,' described as 'elaborate and produced sex performances' arranged and directed by the star while he masturbated and often recorded them.

Aside from the stockpile of baby oil, prosecutors say they also found bondage materials, sex tapes, hidden cameras, and rooms designed for sexual performances.

The indictment stated that some 'Freak Offs' would last for days, requiring Diddy, 54, and victims to receive IV fluids to recover from the exertion and drug use.

He has pleaded not guilty to charges of sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution.

Agnifilio said his client is feeling positive about his chances in court.

'He's just laser-focused, he's engaged, he's helpful, he's confident. We're going through our defence as we do every day and his spirits are relatively good.'
