Terror threats: IGP orders FCT Commissioners to re-strategize security management, launches "Operation Darkin Gaggawa" in Abuja

The Nigeria Police Force has reassured Nigerians and all other residents and visitors in the country that it will effectively review the United States of America Embassy in Abuja's security advisory which was issued, widely circulated, and published by the media on October 23rd, 2022, indicating an elevated risk of terror attacks in the country, particularly in the capital city of Abuja. 

Both the UK and the US embassies released security advice to their nationals in Nigeria, warning them of a possible terrorist attack in Nigeria, especially the FCT.

A statement released by CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force, says a review of the advisory is necessary due to the fact that Police, as the lead agency in internal security, will not take any threat intelligence, either actionable or not, for granted; thus, there is no cause for alarm as all hands are on deck to collectively nip threats in the bud. 

''The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, psc(+), NPM, fdc, CFR, has however ordered the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Federal Capital Territory, heads of tactical squads domiciled in the FCT, and other State Command CPs to re-strategize security management within their jurisdictions, as the Force Headquarters will continually avail them with required support, logistics, and deployments necessary for providing safety to all and sundry in Nigeria. While the NPF will continually work with other security agencies to make every part of Nigeria safe, especially the FCT.

In furtherance of his zeal and strategies to decimate activities of non-state actors and other criminal elements in the FCT and other parts of the country, and to analyze and de-escalate threats gathered from various intelligence at the Force’s disposal, U.S advisory inclusive, the IGP has announced the immediate commencement of a Counter Terrorism Incident Simulation Exercise codenamed "Operation Darkin Gaggawa" will hold within the Force Headquarters and the Police Officers Wives Association School opposite the Force Headquarters, Abuja, between Tuesday 25th and Wednesday 26th October, 2022. 

The exercise will involve diversion of traffic, use of blank ammunition, and other operational manpower and assets, and is designed to improve interoperability and synergy between different Units and Formations of the Force in response to terrorist incidents and other violent crimes. The NPF thereby urges the general public not to panic at the sounds of explosives and gunshots during the exercise.'' the statement in part reads 

Hollywood talent agency CAA cuts ties with Kanye West after anti-Semitic tirade

Prominent Hollywood talent agency, CAA, has stopped representing Kanye West amid a growing call to boycott the rapper. 

The agency ended its relationship with Ye this month following his recent anti-Semitic outbursts in various interviews, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.

CAA is the latest business to end its relationship with Ye over his remarks.

Other leading entertainment industry figures including Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel called on all companies that work with the musician to cut ties with him after he tweeted he wanted to go "death con 3" on Jewish people.

Kanye's antisemitic views has made it nearly impossible for companies to defend working with him, causing some brands such as Balenciaga, to cut ties with him.

J.P. Morgan and the Gap have also parted ways with the rapper.

His record deal with longtime label Def Jam has reportedly come to a close as well.

There is also mounting pressure on Adidas to cut ties with Kanye.

Ye has been with CAA since 2016, after leaving the agency for a year in 2015 for UTA.

Married man destroys Range Rover he bought for his side chick at a popular nightclub in Ikoyi for 'cheating' on him (video)

A married man caused a scene at a Lagos Night club when he destroyed a Range Rover he supposedly bought for his side-chick after she allegedly cheated on him.

A video from the incident which happened over the weekend at a popular club in Ikoyi, shows the damaged Range Rover.

The man is seen being restrained by security guards as he rains curses on his alleged sidechick who is also distraught at the state of her car. He can be heard yelling that he bought her the car while calling her a prostitute for cheating on him.

Some passersby can also spotted in the video, calling out the woman for 'cheating' while others seemingly blamed the married man for overreacting.

Gunmen attack Onitsha-bound bus in Benue, kidnap driver and ten passengers

Gunmen attacked an Onitsha, Anambra state bound commercial bus, abducted the driver and ten passengers in Benue State.

It was gathered that the victims were travelling from Jos, Plateau State when the incident happened. 

According to Nigerian Tribune, the incident occurred on a bad section of the highway while the driver was attempting to accelerate and zoom out of the danger zone. 

A source close to the transport company which owned the bus in Jos revealed that the bus left Jos at about 7:00 am on Friday, 21, 2022, with ten passengers, including the driver, but ran into the gunmen at Eke highway in Benue State at about 4:00 pm.

It was further learnt that gunmen led the passengers into the bush and forced them to surrender their phones, while the driver was mercilessly beaten and also abducted by the gunmen.

The source further revealed that the kidnappers contacted the transport company in Jos on Saturday for a ransom of N5 million per passenger and threatened to kill them if the money was not paid before Monday, October 24. 

He further added that apart from Saturday’s phone call with the kidnappers, they had not called again but resorted to calling relatives of the passengers in their custody.

It was learnt that relatives and parents of the victims held a meeting at the premises of the transport company in Jos on Monday where they agreed to take a collective decision concerning the ransom and negotiation instead of an individualistic approach. 

 

Living Faith Church's leader in Kogi state slumps and dies in his office

 

Fred Attabo, resident Pastor of Living Faith Church a.k.a Winners Chapel in Lokongoma, Lokoja, is dead.

Attabo who recently coordinated the distribution of relief materials sent to Kogi State flood victims by the Founder of the church, Bishop David Oyedepo, was found dead on a chair in his office after morning activities in the church.

He reportedly died after participating in the daily Covenant Hour of Prayer and the devotional service of the ongoing Word of Faith Bible Institute program this morning.

A source told Daily Trust;

“We rushed him to Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja where He was declared dead and we still moved him to Kogi State Specialist Hospital where they tried all kinds of resuscitation to no avail.

“This is the first time we will lose a Pastor and a State Pastor for that matter in our station.”

UAE imposes visa ban on Nigerians

United Arab Emirates Immigration authorities have imposed a visa ban on Nigerians and are now rejecting visa applications.

This was conveyed in a notice issued to UAE's trade partners in Nigeria including travel agencies on Friday October 21.

No reason was given for the visa ban, but the United Arab Emirates Immigration authorities said all applications are on-hold until issues between the UAE government and the Nigerian government are resolved.

It read; 

“All Dubai applications submitted are now rejected. It is  general for Nigerians and approvals are on hold at the moment.

“Kindly advise your clients to resubmit C2=A0 applications when the issue is resolved between both governments.”

 

Punch reported that a source at travel agency, Wakanow confirmed the development. The source said; 

 

“It is true, it was issued yesterday. The Dubai immigration did not state when the ban would be lifted but for now, everything is on hold.”

A customer representative from Air Peace, however said the airline is still flying to Dubai with those who already have a valid visa. The representative added that if any changes were to occur as regards flight for Nigerians, it would be duly communicated. 

A 5-year-old boy claims that he was an African American woman killed in a fire almost 30 years ago, and his revelations match the story of a woman who died in a hotel fire

Little Luke Ruehlman, 5, spooked his parents at age 2 when he began incessantly insisting that he used to live a previous life as an African-American woman called Pam Robinson who jumped to her death to escape the flames inside Paxton Hotel in Chicago.

His mother, Erika said the five-year-old had started to scare her a little after he began speaking about a woman she had never heard of named Pam.

After questioning her young son about the random woman to find out who she was, Luke revealed the startling truth about his alleged past life.

Erika told Fox 8: “He turned to me and said, ‘Well, I was’. [He said] ‘Well, I used to be, but I died and I went up to heaven. I saw God and then eventually, God pushed me back down and I was a baby and you named me Luke.”

Luke’s family, who live in Cincinnati, Ohio, said their son told them he travelled by train in Chicago despite them never taking him there, reports The Sun.

Erika decided to research the bizarre claims and was shocked to find out that Pam was named one of 19 victims who died from the fire in 1993.

Luke recalled eerie details about how he tried to escape the burning building and spoke about the moment he “met God.”

Erika says he also speaks about other moments that he “remembered” from his past life.

“He used to say, ‘When I was a girl, I had black hair’ or he would say, ‘I used to have earrings like that when I was a girl,’ she said.

Producers of a paranormal investigations TV show “The Ghost Inside My Child” have also delved into Luke’s case.

During the show, the little boy was shown a page of pictures of different black women aged in their 30s and was asked to find the late Pam Robinson.

Surprisingly, he was able to pick her out within the first go, according to the footage.

Following the creepy development, Luke’s mum decided to reach out to Pam’s family.

She said they described her personality and it revealed shocking similarities between Pam and Luke, such as their love for Stevie Wonder and playing on the keyboard.

How a friend I begged to house my girlfriend ended up marrying her – Nigerian man

A Nigerian man has narrated an interesting story of how he unintentionally linked up his girlfriend, named Bella with his friend, Ayo.

He revealed that his girlfriend was invited for a job interview in Lagos, so he begged his friend to accommodate her because he trusted the guy.

The lady left Warri, Delta state for Lagos and stayed with her boyfriend’s pal in his apartment, however, her attitude began to change.

The narrator known as Born Gifted, said that Bella stopped picking his calls and his friend, Ayo also changed towards him.

He did not know what was happening, so he kept trying to reach her, but one faithful day, his friend picked up his girlfriend’s phone and informed him that she was in the shower.

Fast forward to present day, Born Gifted’s ex is now married to his friend and they have two children, a boy and girl.

Read his write-up; “I remembered when I was dating this girl, she told me she has a job interview in Lagos so I called a friend of mine who lived there that my girlfriend is coming and that he should accommodate her since I trusted him enough to allow my babe pass the night there.

He agreed and accommodated her. My babe left Warri for Lagos and ever since then, her attitude as well as my friend’s attitude has changed. They don’t pick up my calls. Helicopter carrying politicians crashes after colliding with power lines (video)

Two politicians, a staffer, and the pilot of a helicopter miraculously survived when their aircraft collided with a power line and crashed to the ground before erupting in flames.

 

Shocking video captures the moment the silver helicopter carrying Brazilian MP Hercílio Araújo Diniz and David Barroso, the deputy mayor of Governador Valadares, slowly drifts into the power cord.

 

The video of the collision was recorded by a witness on the ground and onlookers can be heard gasping in horror as the helicopter crashed.

 

All four on board survived with minor injuries, the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais said. They were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The Fire Department said that the pilot lost control before colliding with the power line on the side of a highway, the US Sun reported.

 

Power was cut to the municipalities of Sobrália and Fernandes Tourinho following the crash, local reports said.
