A lady has narrated how she realized her father who she thought was dead is still alive after viewing her friend's mother's day status.

The Twitter user in her tweets stated that a

burial was held for her father who they thought

died in a car accident, but she is now sure

the person buried isn't her father.

Mbaka begs for forgiveness

The clergy and the laity are quite familiar with parable of the prodigal son. Thus, this sounds quite familiar. Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, spiritual director of Adoration Ministries Enugu Nigeria (AMEN), has apologised to the Catholic church over his recent excesses.

This happened when he delivered his sermon on Sunday, 9 May at Adoration Ground, Enugu. He, according to The Cable, particularly asked his immediate boss, His Lordship, Most Reverend Callistus Onaga, bishop of Enugu diocese, to forgive him and his followers for their actions which have rubbed off negatively on the church.

According to Mabaka: “I can’t disobey the church — who am I? How can somebody who has been serving the church for 25 years come out to begin to fight the same church. Everything in my life is for the church,” he said in the sermon monitored by The Cable.

“In all honesty, Father Mbaka here has no problem with the church. I don’t have any problem with my bishop; people want to achieve it but they cannot allow it. Because I have something in me that will conquer all this problem — the gift of humility and the obedience of the church.”

“I never knew that even a glass was broken. What I was praising you for was not for what was destroyed, but for your ability to search for your missing pastor,” he said.

“There was a lot of mixed information. The devil entered the story; the church did not kidnap me.

“I wish to apologise for whoever that misunderstood my statement. I did not clap for anybody for destroying anything. I heard that the search for Father Mbaka was hijacked; people joined and started breaking things.

“I am here standing on your behalf and I render my sincere, unalloyed apologies to the Holy Catholic church where I belong, and say, may the mother church forgive us in any way we didn’t do it well.

“Even in all that I said, where I didn’t say it well, I pray for forgiveness. I am on your (the worshippers) behalf, kneeling down for the church and I tell the church, forgive.”

“We are to save the image and face of the church, and the souls of the children of God. I am here for soul-saving, the church is not my property because I belong to the church.”

Truck loaded with ammunition discovered in Anambra

Cartons of live ammunition were discovered on Sunday at Awka Road, Onitsha, in Anambra, after a truck conveying them fell into a drainage and spilled its content.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) gathered that the incident sent jitters into residents of the area, who later drew the attention of the Police.

An eyewitness told NAN on Monday that police personnel were immediately deployed to the area and the driver of the truck, who sustained injury, was arrested.

“The driver and his assistant, who also was injured, tried to gather and conceal the content of the truck but could not do much due to the arrival of the police operatives,” the source added.

The source said the assistant driver fled the scene on sighting the police, leaving behind the driver. Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the police had recovered the vehicle and its contents.

Ikenga said: “At about 4:00p.m. on May 9, 2021, there was an accident involving a truck along Awka expressway, Onitsha, and on receipt of this information, Police operatives, military and other security agencies rushed to the scene and quickly cordoned off the area and recovered the truck with its contents.

“Meanwhile, the case has been transferred to state criminal investigation department for further investigations,” Ikenga said.

Popular Nigerian actor, Uche Maduagwu, has made a U-turn on his sexuality fews months after stated he wasn’t gay.

Early this year, the controversial actor revealed on social media that he is gay and proud of his sexuality.

Few months later after coming out of the closet, Uche announced he isn’t gay and that he said it out of desperation. He also revealed he was depressed.

Again, the actor has made a dramatic U-turn as he revealed he is 1000% gay on his Instagram page.

Coalition accuses military of killing South East youths

Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL) has accused the military of extra judicial killings of youths in the zone. The accusation was contained in a statement issued yesterday by the President-General, Goodluck Ibem, and Secretary-General, Kanice Igwe.

It cited the alleged shooting to death of Owerri-based businessman, Noel Chigbu, by a soldier at a checkpoint in Amakohia, Owerri, on Friday, April 30, 2021 by 10p.m., among other killings.

The statement read in part: “COSEYL, the umbrella body of all youth organisations in the South East geopolitical zone, is very enraged over the unlawful, barbaric, wicked and extra-judicial killing of a businessman, Mr. Noel Chigbu, aged 39 years, by the military at Amakohia junction, Owerri, Imo State for allegedly violating their checkpoint rule. Another is the unlawful killing of a first-year student, Divine Nwaneri, at a military checkpoint close to Imo Governor’s office.“These killings and more that happened in recent times are tangible proof that the military are on a secret mission to exterminate Igbo youths in the South East. The killing of unarmed agitators and pampering of Boko Haram terrorists is a clear testament that Ndigbo have been marked for extinction by the Nigerian military.”

It wondered why the soldiers paid with tax-payers money would kill kill an innocent youth on the flimsy excuse of violating checkpoint rules. COSEYL stated: “This is absolute madness and it must stop forthwith.

“The truth is, Noel Chigbu was killed by the soldiers for refusing to give them ‘bribe’. The soldiers now make it mandatory that anyone that passes on the road must ‘bribe’ the soldiers, or their employed civilians who disguise as plantain chips sellers, or risk being killed because they are on a mandate to exterminate Igbo youths.”

Urging the soldiers to desist from harassing the Igbo people, the coalition added: “The impunity with which soldiers and other security operatives deal with Igbo youths calls for serious concern. This is total harassment of Ndigbo and we reject it in its entirety.

“Igbo youths are being arrested by the army who brand them unknown gunmen and kill them. How do they know that they are unknown gunmen?”It called on governors, lawmakers and other political office holders from the South East to speak up in defence of their people, who are being unlawfully killed daily without justifiable reasons.

“If our governors and other political office holders are keeping silent and all Igbo youths are killed, who will vote for them in the next elections?

“We, therefore, demand that the military must identify and hand over those soldiers involved in the unlawful killings of Chigbu, Nwaneri and others to the police for immediate prosecution,” it added.

Breaking: 14 persons burnt to death on Lagos-Ibadan expressway accident

No fewer than 14 passengers (11 adults and three children) were on Thursday night burnt to death in an accident around the Lagos-Ibadan expressway. The spokesperson, Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the incident to newsmen in Abeokuta on Friday.

Confirming the incident,  Akinbiyi said the accident involved a silver Toyota RAV 4, with registration number, LND 13 GS, a silver Toyota Camry marked, GGE 369 GJ, and a Mazda bus with an unidentified number. The TRACE spokesman said the accident occurred at 8:20 p.m. on Thursday night. He added that the commercial Mazda bus was allegedly involved in wrongful overtaking before it hit a parked faulty Toyota Rav 4. Speaking on the number of casualties, Akinbiyi explained that 17 passengers were in the bus when the accident happened, saying that 14 persons were burnt to death beyond recognition. “The burnt commercial bus was involved in wrongful overtaking before it hit a stationary vehicle (Toyota Rav4), parked in the middle of the road due to breakdown, and also hit a Camry car.

“In the process, it lost control, somersaulting severally before it burst into flames,” he said. Akinbiyi explained that two of the victims who sustained injuries were rescued and taken to Lagos State Accident and Emergency Centre and another one to the General Hospital, Gbagada for treatment. He commiserated with the families of the dead victims, warning drivers to desist from speed, wrongful overtaking and attitude that exposed other road users to risk and danger.

There is tension in Ogba after two okada riders were allegedly shot during clash with police (videos)after three okada riders were allegedly shot dead by security operatives.

 

The incident happened around Mokuolu Street in Ogba around 6pm on Thursday, May 6.

The clash between the commercial motorcyclists and the Task Force was elicited by efforts of security agents to enforce Okada ban in the area.

 

The security agents met resistance and this resulted in a clash, with three okada riders reportedly shot dead.

 

Unfortunately, one of the Okada riders reportedly died this morning, prompting other riders to embark on protest, but they were subsequently dispatched by security agencies.

 

The state police command had deployed a detachment of mobile policemen and plain clothed officers to maintain law and order, Daily Trust reports.

 

Roads leading to Excellence Roundabout, Ogba Market and WAEC have been blocked with vans of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) unit of the police.

BREAKING: 8 ‘Unknown gunmen’ killed, vehicles recovered in Imo

Eight people suspected to be hoodlums operating under the name “unknown gunmen” on Thursday night were gunned down in a gun battle with joint security operatives.

Vanguard in Owerri, gathered that the incident which started early hours of Thursday ended at about 9:30pm with the final battle at Nkwito junction in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State. Also eight vehicles were said to have been recovered from the said hoodlums, as well as sophisticated ammunitions which they used to challenged the joint security forces. Some of the vehicles included a Land Rover, Toyota Highlander, Siena, white hummer buses, Umuopia-Akokwa vigilante lion squad security vehicle, among others.

The battle between the “unknown gunmen and the joint security forces was said to have started in the commercial town of Orlu, particularly the banana junction. The exchange of bullets threw the town into chaos resulting to road side traders, shop owners, banana sellers as well as motorists, commuters forced to abandon their wares to a safer destination.

Narrating the incident to Vanguard how it started, an eyewitness said: “On Thursday around 08: 15am, we started seeing some strange movements, that was when the soldiers were trying to locate the “unknown gunmen”. “Before you know it, from 1pm, we started hearing shootings and we saw it was between the unknown gunmen and the Soldiers. The firing last for more than an hour. “I saw about two of the soldiers vehicles taken away by the unknown gunmen. If you see these “unknown gunmen” they are powerful, armed to the fullest. The wore black and black and with white material around their neck and covering their back side down to their leg. “If you see them you will bow. These men are strong and they have weight. They faced the Army and the Army ran away.” Also, another eyewitness around the Nkwito junction in Orlu, said: “Thursday night the firing was much. All the vehicles of the unknown gunmen were collected from them. What I don’t know is if all the “unknown gunmen ” were killed. I am not close to counting all of them. We were able to get at least eight of them. I think also even some of the members of the joint security forces also were injured. Counting from the time the battle started from banana junction to Nkwito junction.”

BREAKING: Pastor Adeboye’s son dies at 42

Pastor Dare Adeboye, the son of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God Worldwide, Enoch Adeboye, is dead.

The PUNCH gathered that the 42-year-old, who was the third surviving child of the revered cleric, died in his sleep on Wednesday in Eket, Akwa Ibom State, where he was based with his family.

It was gathered from reliable sources in the church that the deceased, who was the Assistant Pastor in charge of Region (Youth) 35, had ministered the previous day.

He was said to have retired to his bed and did not wake up.

His wife, Temiloluwa, was said to have raised the alarm.

“He was not sick and did not complain of anything before the incident. Pastors in the church were summoned to pray for him, all to no avail,” a source added.

Several leaders of the church, who confirmed the incident, said they could not comment on it.

The Head of Media and Public Relations, RCCG, Pastor Olaitan Olubiyi, however, confirmed the tragedy on Thursday morning.

He said, “It is true. The incident happened in Eket where he was based. I don’t have the details for now. Maybe before the end of today, we will issue a statement.”

Dare would have been 43 years old next month, June.

I was detained because of Nnamdi Kanu: Fr Mbaka

Rev Fr Ejike Mbaka has disclosed that his 24 hours ‘disappearance’ was an incarceration by the Enugu Catholic Bishop, Most Rev Callistus Onaga, whom he accused of conniving with others to detain him because he spoke favourably about the leader of the Indigenous people of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. Mbaka said he was only released because the adoration faithful protested his unexplained disappeance.

Mbaka who spoke late on Wednesday at his adoration ground after regaining freedom, practically accused the authorities of the Enugu Catholic Diocese of Mastermind. He said he was kept incommunicado by the Bishop, whom he further alleged planned to keep him for 30 days. He said a lot of issues were presented against him after which the Church leadership, led by Bishop Calistus Onaga told him that he would remain indoors for one month, a period that would allow him pray and meditate over his activities. Mbaka said he requested to be allowed the opportunity to come and address his parishioners after which he would shut down, “but they said no. I also begged them to allow me send another priest to come and celebrate mass for you today, they said no,” he told the parishioners. He said Bishop Onaga upon seeing the protest over his predicament allowed him to go. Mbaka said the church was strong against him for blessing Nnamdi Kanu. “Are you the owner of my mouth? You can’t tell me who to bless? If you are not happy that I blessed someone, you have your own mouth, you can curse the person. “They didn’t treat me in a pastoral way and I was asking am I being punished for what? “They said it was a meeting, but even before I reached the Bishop’s house, the conclusion has already been made. What happened to me was like the day I was shot on the road.

“Unfortunately for them, even before the meeting, a woman was already going around bragging that the Bishop will call me for a meeting, and that I was going to leave my house here for 30 days, and that after the 30 days, I would be sent to Rome, and Adoration ministry will be closed. “In a time and cases like this, don’t give me a punishment that will cause troubles for us because I’m not alone.” Mbaka said that another thing presented to him was his recent criticism of President Muhammadu Buhari’s Government. “I cannot hate my brother because of some people whose hate is in their genes,” Mbaka said.
