Prophet T.B Joshua's YouTube account has been suspended over some videos shared on the channel.
Premium Times had reported that between 2016 and January 2020, the channel posted at least seven clips showing the charismatic Christian televangelist engaging in violent exorcism to ‘cure’ gay and lesbian congregants of their sexual orientation by casting out “the demon of homosexuality”.
YouTube suspended the channel which had more than 1.8 million subscribers on April 12, after openDemocracy contacted it to ask whether some of the contents violated the platform’s community guidelines.
A YouTube spokesperson told openDemocracy;
“YouTube’s Community Guidelines prohibit hate speech and we remove flagged videos and comments that violate these policies. In this case we have terminated the channel.
"YouTube prohibits content which alleges that someone is mentally ill, diseased, or inferior because of their membership in a protected group including sexual orientation.”
Daina Rudusa, spokesperson for OutRight Action International, the global LGBTIQ human rights organisation also said;
“It is great to see social media platforms take a greater role in tackling these harmful practices by banning accounts spouting hate speech and promoting conversion practices.
“So-called conversion therapy is neither therapy, nor does it result in conversion” and it has been recognised as being “tantamount to torture."
It was also learnt that Facebook took action against some of T.B Joshua's contents. Unlike YouTube which suspended the ministries’ entire channel, Facebook said it “removed a number of pieces of content from this page for violating these policies”.
Facebook company spokesperson said;
“We don’t allow attacks against people based on their sexual orientation or gender identity, including content promoting conversion therapy services.
“We take attacks on the LGBT+ community incredibly seriously and encourage people to report this kind of content when they see it so we can investigate.”
When openDemocracy asked TB Joshua Ministries to comment on its pastor’s actions towards LGBT people, and on its YouTube channel being terminated for hate speech, the ministry did not respond. However, it has launched a social media campaign to contest the decision which it claims was “made in haste.”
TB Joshua however confirmed that his YouTube channel was suspended in a tweet he shared. He wrote;
EMMANUEL TV YOUTUBE SUSPENSION: Our mission is to share the love of God with everyone - irrespective of race or religion - and we strongly oppose all forms of hate speech! We have had a long and fruitful relationship with YouTube and believe this decision was made in haste.
On Facebook, he urged his church members to raise their concerns over his channel’s suspension on other social media platforms.
TB Joshua wrote;

She’s size 102 ZZZ ..8ft 6in round the chest & each boob weighs 3st. If she gets behind the wheel of a car they set off the horn.
She can’t walk down steps unaided, she can’t sleep on her back and she can’t fit into a normal plane seat.
But the woman with the biggest breasts in the world has vowed never to have them reduced.
This is the 10th year running that mum of two Norma Stitz – that’s her stage name – has been in the Guinness Book of Records with her enormous Size 102ZZZ chest.
And she has turned the boobs she once hated into a money-spinning asset. They have won her fame on TV and in movies around the world, earning enough to put her daughter through college.
But having breasts which weigh nearly 3st each – equivalent to carrying around TWO cases of wine – is a heavy burden. Norma (real name Annie Hawkins-Turner) admits she was once so ashamed of them that she refused to leave her home and was too afraid to have sex.
She has to have bras specially made and she can only wear stretchy clothes. She needs help on steps because she can’t see anything in front. She can’t sleep on her back because the weight might crush her airways.
And she can only drive a 4×4 with extra room in the front because her breasts set off steering wheel horns on smaller cars. Norma, 50, started wearing a bra at the age of nine and as a teenager couldn’t walk down the street without strangers staring at her.
“Even in primary school I had problems,” she says. “They had desks with the tops attached to the chairs and I couldn’t fit in them. I had to have a separate desk and chair.
“Then when I got to secondary school I wasn’t allowed to do physical education. My PE teacher was great. She wouldn’t let me do anything that would hurt my boobs. I wasn’t allowed to do star jumps at all and with the other exercises, if the rest of the class were doing 10, I would only have to do three. Masked Singer – Hedgehog revealed.
“I couldn’t wear the leotard everyone else did – I had to wear shorts and a top and a different uniform.”
Norma said having good friends ensured she was never bullied, but she was short of admirers from the opposite sex.
“Boys were ashamed to be seen with me,” she says. “I became ashamed of my breasts and my body.
“Then I started to get attention from men on the street. Old men, complete strangers, would stop me and offer me sweets if I showed them my boobs.
“Even in my early teens my breasts were 42DD. I was so self-conscious.”
These days Norma weighs 25 stone and her bust – that 102ZZZ measurement means that her chest is 8ft 6ins around – simply swamps her 5ft 6ins frame.
Her size made it tough to find a man who wanted her for the right reasons.
She says: “I had my first boyfriend in college but we never had sex. I didn’t want to take my clothes off in front of him. We never had sex in the four years that we dated.
“I then had another boyfriend who made me realize that I didn’t need to be ashamed of my body. When the time came for us to have sex, I turned off the lights and got under the covers before I took my clothes off.
“He waited patiently while I did that. Then he came over to the bed and pulled me out of it. He put the lights back on and made me walk over to a mirror and made me look at myself in that mirror.
“He told me I was beautiful just the way I was.”
But Norma, of Virginia, USA, says it wasn’t until she met her husband Allen that she got over her poor body image. The couple met at a bus stop one day and it was love at first sight.
“Allen turned me into a very sexual being,” she says. “He loved my boobs and made me see them in a different light. Every day he would tell me I was the sexiest woman alive.”
Norma was 22 when she lost her virginity. But she says: “I can only have sex lying on my side.”
When she had their two children she didn’t breastfeed as she couldn’t reach out far enough to put her babies on her nipple.
Norma says Allen – who died of cancer five years ago – always talked her out of having a breast reduction.
“Every doctor I went to would try and talk me into getting a boob reduction,” she says. “Now and then I would come home with paperwork from the doctor about a reduction and Allen would tell me off.
“One time he sulked and wouldn’t speak to me for two weeks. He loved my boobs and believed that I should embrace them and thank God for giving them to me.
“I have no regrets about not having a breast reduction because I’m healthy. If they were so big that I couldn’t breathe then that’s a totally different story.”
Norma admits that her breasts may have got in the way of a traditional career, but Allen encouraged her to send pictures of herself to magazines and by 1997 she was making her own movies.
“I run an adult production company and that is where I’ve made my money,” she says. “I’m paying to put my girl through college. She’s a smart girl.”
Norma’s daughter Clara is 19 and her son Darius 22.
“They think I am the coolest mum in the world,” says Norma.
“They are very proud of me. But they do get embarrassed because I am all over the internet and on TV in the US.
“My son gets offended when people stare at me. But I tell him don’t get upset – my breasts are what draws people to me.”
And now she has a new boyfriend, Lee, who she met on the internet a year ago.
“He had already heard of me so my breasts didn’t come as a shock. It’s wonderful – he loves me, not just my breasts.”
Manchester City footballer, Phil Foden has revealed he is set to become a dad for the second time, according to a new report.
He and childhood sweetheart Rebecca Cooke, both now 20, had their son Ronnie in January 2019 when Foden was just 18.
Now the midfielder who is in the best form of his career has told friends they are expecting a baby girl to join them in their £3.25million mansion in Prestbury, Cheshire.
According to the Sun UK, the new arrival is expected in late summer or early autumn.
A source said of Foden and his team Manchester City: “City can’t stop scoring at the moment — both on and off the pitch.
“They’ve hit the back of the net more times than any of the teams and are now celebrating another kid.
“It couldn’t be a better way to cap off such a great season.”

Former US first lady, Melania Trump made her second public appearance in a week on Wednesday night, April 14 after shying away from the spotlight for months since her husband Donald left the White House back in January.
Melania was spotted enjoying dinner with her husband Donald Trump at a private roped-off table at Mar-a-Lago.
The dinner outing marks the seventh occasion the 50-year-old former First Lady has been seen out and about since their departure from the White House.
The photos, which were taken by guests at the Palm Beach resort and shared online show Melania and Donald, 74, sitting side-by-side at a round table outdoors at one of Mar-a-Lago's restaurants.
For the outing, the mother-of-one rocked an elegant sleeveless dress, while her husband wore a navy suit, white button-up shirt, and a striped tie.
The public dinner comes just days after Melania and Donald stepped out for a fundraiser held at the Florida club - where she and former President Trump have been living since leaving Washington, D.C. in January.

After spending two nights in its custody, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, yesterday, released former governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, on administrative bail. But the EFCC had to vary the bail terms before Senator Okorocha could meet the terms and be able to go home after spending 48 hours with his interrogators.
A source said the anti-graft agency had demanded that the former governor produced two former governors or two serving senators from the South East as a condition for his bail but he objected to it on the grounds that it would be difficult to achieve that within the short period at his disposal.
Based on the objection, Okorocha’s legal team filed for a variation of the bail conditions, which the EFCC finally granted. Vanguard, however, learned that the former governor was able to produce a ranking Senator from the Northeast as a guarantor for his release from EFCC custody. A source in EFCC confirmed that the former governor would have another date with the operatives but did not specify the date he is expected to reappear. The whole gamut of the interrogation, according to the source, relates to the N7.9 billion allegedly traced in many banks to the former governor, something he has repeatedly denied and had written a statement in that regard as part of his submission on Wednesday night to the anti-graft agency. The spokesman for the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed the release of the former governor but declined to give details on the matter. Okorocha was arrested on Tuesday by EFCC operatives on the suspicion of diverting Imo State funds into private property and banks but he has consistently denied the claim by the EFCC. It was not clear as of last night if the EFCC had gathered adequate evidence to charge him and his associates linked with the cash and choice property to the court.
