The Lord's Chosen Pastor robbed and killed in Lagos (photo)

Unknown gunmen on Monday June 22 shot dead the Lagos state Coordinator of The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries, Pastor Chukwuemeka Okpokpo, at Apple Junction, Amuwo Odofin area of the state.

According to a report by Vanguard, the gunmen, in a motorcycle, trailed the pastor from a bank where he had gone to withdraw N3million for the church, fired shots into the air, which sent people scampering for safety.

Witnesses said Pastor Okpokpo tried to escape when it became obvious that he was the target. He reportedly slowed down on reaching a bad spot in the road, and that was when the hoodlums shot at the tyres of the Chosen vehicle he was driving, which caused the car to stop.

One of the gunmen then got down from their motorbike, walked to the vehicle and shot Pastor Okpokpo in the stomach. He was said to have waited to ensure that Okpokpo was no longer breathing before he took the nylon bag containing the money, went back to his two colleagues in the motorbike and they all took off.

Residents were said to have rushed to the scene then raised an alarm when they found out that the victim was wearing the Lord’s Chosen reflective jacket. Some of them were said to have alerted members of the church, who rushed him to the church’s clinic at Ijesha.

When news of the tragedy filtered in, those who knew him wept uncontrollably. It was learnt that a prayer session aimed at resurrecting him reportedly took place between 12.30p.m. and 8p.m. Some of the church members thought that the gunmen could have been hired assassins and not robbers.

The Lagos State Police Command said it had begun investigation into the murder.

Okpokpo’s body has been taken to his home town in Amizi, Ikwuano Local Government Area of Umuahia of Abia

Nairobi Clothing Shop Begins Selling Chastity Belts To Protect Men From Being Harassed

A men’s clothing shop in Nairobi has begun selling chastity belts that are secured with an iron padlock. The belts have been designed to help men to protect themselves from being sexually harassed by their wives and are being sold for Sh 2, 000.
The concept for the belts arose after a Nyeri woman was charged in court for chopping off her husband’s private part because of a quarrel.

A men’s lobby group, Maendeleo ya Wanaume, wants women who chop off man’s genitals to be sentenced to life imprisonment or to a death penalty. The shop has displayed a mannequin wearing the chastity belt on its window.

Man murders best friend for refusing to join cult group

A young man in Lagos, Anu Olokodana, has been declared wanted by the state Police Command for allegedly drowning his childhood friend, Adeleke Awosiga, for refusing to join him in a cult group.

Awosiga, according to witnesses, got his friend mad when he refused all entreaties to join the cult group which operates in Isheri, Ojodu-Berger area of the state.

It was gathered that the incident which happened during the fleeing culprit's birthday celebration in a hotel in the area, saw him snuffing life out of the 20-year-old Awosiga in a swimming pool during the party, on June 13.

The witnesses say there was an argument that ensued between the friends over cult activities which allegedly made Olokodana to twist his friend’s neck before drowning him with the corpse discovered by residents and policemen the following day while the suspect and other cult members have been on the run since then.

It was learnt that two of the cult boys had been arrested by the police and they reportedly confessed that they belonged to the same cult group with Olokodana.

A close relative of the deceased said that Awosiga and Olokodana had been childhood friends, which made it difficult to believe that the suspect could kill his friend.

“The suspect, Olokodana, is popularly called T-Fire. He is a cult member and he was at the party with other members of his cult group. Awosiga was also there to celebrate his friend’s birthday. As the party went on, a disagreement ensued between the two.

Both men have been childhood friends, but their point of disagreements had always been over the cult membership. The suspect had always persuaded his friend to join his cult group, but the latter was not interested.

On that Saturday, Olokodana invited many of his friends, including the deceased, to a hotel in the Isheri area to celebrate his birthday. The young men drank and had fun till dawn. The trouble started at about 4.30am.

The next thing we heard was that Leke (Awosiga) had been drowned by Olokodana, and all his cult members had fled. We are still in shock over the matter.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Kenneth Nwosu, confirmed the incident and said the matter has been transferred to the Department of Criminal Investigations, Yaba.

“The deceased died by drowning. The case has also been transferred to the DCI for further investigations.”

OMG! Remains of 12-yr-old boy declared missing in 2004 found in mom's car

The Virginia, USA police has made a shocking discovery as the decomposing body of a 12-year-old boy who was declared missing in 2004, was found in his mother's car, over a decade after.

According to Huffington Post, the case of the missing Quincy Jamar Davis was deemed a cold case until the body was discovered in his mother, Tonya Slaton's car and she is being charged with concealing the body of her son.

Slaton, 44, had been due in Hampton General District Court on Monday for a pre-trial hearing, but her appearance has been postponed till September 1, according to court records.

Her child has been missing since 2004 when he was a seventh grader, according to state police.

The remains of the boy were found earlier this month during a routine traffic stop, after a trooper noticed that the license plates on Davis' car were expired, according to state police.

As the trooper was making an inventory of the car’s contents, a black plastic bag was found in the trunk.

The report says after the trooper detected an odor coming from the bag, he opened it and found what was described as a clothed, decomposed body wrapped with duct tape.

War at Benue State House of Assembly as lawmakers exchange blows

Lawmakers at the Benue State House of Assembly on Tuesday literally turned the hallowed chamber to a boxing ring after engaging each other in what could be tagged a legislative show of shame.

The brawl, DAILY POST learnt broke out following the election of Barr Adanyi of the (APC Makurdi south) as Majority leader.

Apparently not okay with Adanyi’s election, Hon. Martins Aza (PDP Makurdi North) objected, saying they were 16 in the house so should have the majority.

Argument ensued between two lawmakers in the process who reportedly descended on each other, thus exchanging deadly blows.

However, the timely intervention of other lawmakers present prevented the lawmakers from causing more harm.

In a related development, the state governor, Samuel Ortom has nominated 13 persons to be screened by the lawmakers as commissioners into his cabinet.
