A BOY THROWN INTO RIVER FOR WITCHCRAFT IN AKWA IBOM STATE

A10-year-old boy, Usen Okon, who was thrown into the Imo River in the Ikot Abasi area of Akwa Ibom State, over witchcraft accusation, has survived the ordeal.

10 YEAR BOY THROWN INTO RIVER

A non-government organisation, the Humanist Association for Peace and Social Tolerance Advancement and its partner, Child’s Rights and Rehabilitation Network, said the boy was being taken care of by the groups.

The Senior Project Manager of the organisation, Mr. Ayobami Ojedokun, told our correspondent in Uyo on Tuesday that Okon was under the care of his paternal aunt, identified simply as Ekaeyen, at Etebi community in the Esit Eket Local Government Area of the state as his parents had died.

He said a few days ago, Okon was aroused from sleep by Ekaeyen who took him to her husband and asked him to confess to being a wizard.
He added that when Okon denied the witchcraft accusation, his aunt threatened to throw him into a river.

Ojedokun said Ekaeyen, true to her words, on November 16, took Okon to the Imo River and threw him into the water with the hope that he would drown.
“She actually threw Okon into Imo River thinking that the boy would drown. The boy came out of the water alive and went to their home, only to be told that her auntie had relocated,” Ojedokun said.

The Project Director, Mr. Adeyemi Johnson, added that HAPSTA/CRARN have reunited 16 children to their families from January to November, and referred two children to Ministry of Women Affairs.

He added that HAPSTA/CRARN had also rescued 17 children from January till date, while the organisation had 15 children in its centre.
“We also organise advocacy town hall meetings in Okobo, Ebughu and Etinan, where child witches stigmatisation are commonplace. We brought pastors and child rights activists together through a meeting at Ikot Abasi,” he said.

The acting Police Public Relations Officer, Akwa Ibom State Police Command, Mr. Iboro Victor, said he was not aware of the incident.
“The incident is not to my knowledge right now,” he said.

Evil: Woman Disappears With Four Kids Within 30mins Of Starting a New Job As a Teacher

A woman simply identified as eleha (woman in purdah) on November 18, 2014 disappeared with 4 kids at a neighbourhood home lesson in Idi-Omo area of Ibadan, Oyo State.

According to Tribune, the children are yet to be found till the writing of this report today.

The four missing children, whose names were given as Abdulsalam Aderibigbe, Abigail Adegunju, Chidiebere and Onyiyechukwu were reportedly taken away by the eleha who disguised as someone in need of an employment. She struck within 30 minutes of starting her job as a lesson assistant.
The 33-year-old proprietress of  Mrs Kafayat Olatubosun, has described the incident which led to the disappearance of the four pupils in her care as one that is like a devil stalking her, after which he crept in and struck.
According to Mrs Olatunbosun who is nursing a 14-month-old baby and is currently kept in protective custody at State Criminal Investigation, Iyaganku, Ibadan:

“I started operating a neighbourhood lesson for children at Sagbolada Compound, Idi Omo, Ibadan in 2009. I rented a space in the compound and I pay N500 monthly for it. I have about 35 pupils between the ages of one-and-half and three. Sometimes, primary school pupils sent home from their schools because of non-payment of fees are brought by their parents so that there would be no vacuum in their academic lives. I collect N20 daily for each child and the lesson hours are between 8a.m. and 1p.m.”
The National Teachers Institution (NTI) certificate holder and mother of three spoke further:
“I had been working alone all the years, with regular assistance from my husband and a few elderly women staying within and around the lesson. Whenever I wanted to move round to pick children from their homes, my husband would stay with the ones already in class. Same would happen in the afternoon until the last child had been taken home. Whenever he was busy in the shop where he works as a lotto agent, the women who were like my in-laws would assist me.
The woman who did this evil work (kidnapping) had been coming when I was still pregnant with the 14-month-old baby I am nursing. She kept pestering me that she wanted to work with me but I told her that I did not need assistance.
About a month after I resumed work, having spent 41 days at home after delivery, she came again and I still insisted that I did not need an assistant. She told me that she wanted to leave where she was working because she was being owed salary. I replied that I would not a similar situation to occur in our relationship because the children were enough to take care of my own needs.
I told her that I would like to inform my husband which I did by calling him. But he could not come because he was busy in his office. The woman told me she would come back the following day. The following morning, when I got to the lesson, at a little after 8a.m., I met the woman waiting for me.
Shortly after, my husband came and saw her too. I said I would be paying her N3,000 monthly and she agreed. My husband left for his office and I decided to make the rounds to pick my pupils.
I went the first round to pick the children and I met the lady on my return. I went the second round and still met her. Even some parents who brought their children themselves saw her.
It was on my return after the third round that she was no longer around. I also noticed that one of the children, Abdusalam, was missing. I shouted and the elderly women around came. I quickly called my husband on the phone and he came. I met one of the parents who just brought her child in and she said she did not meet anyone.
That was how we noticed that Abigail, Samson, Chidiebere and Onyiyechukwu were also missing. The last two children are siblings Samson, who is three years old later walked back to us.”
When asked if she could identify the woman, Mrs Olatunbosun replied that she could.
Crime Reports learnt that the Idi Omo neighbourhood was immediately thrown into confusion as residents, especially the youths and parents of the missing pupils, started searching for the woman and the children. The mother of two of the missing children who are sisters was reported to have collapsed immediately and had since been on admission. The older of her two kids is three.
But the police image maker in Oyo State, Olabisi Okuwobi-Ilobanafor said that Commissioner of Police, Kola Shodipo has put his men on their toes to unravel the identity of the woman, with a view to arresting her.

Health Benefits of Lemons: the Alkaline Powerfood

Lemons are acidic to the taste, but are alkaline forming in the body. In fact they are one of the most alkaline forming foods; this makes them great for balancing a highly acidic condition in the body.

lemon alkalizing powerfood

lemons are a favorite all over the world and an essential food in kitchens around the world.

“We are living in a world today where lemonade is made from artificial flavors and furniture polish is made from real lemons.” Alfred E. Newman

16 Health Benefits of Lemons:

1. Lemons are alkalizing for the body: Lemons are acidic to begin with but they are alkaline forming on body fluids helping to restore balance to the body’s pH.

2. Lemons are rich in vitamin C and flavonoids that work against infections like colds and flues.

3. Your liver loves lemons: The lemon is a wonderful stimulant to the liver and is a dissolvent of uric acid and other poisons, liquefies the bile” says Back to Eden Mr. Kloss. Fresh lemon juice added to a large glass of water in the morning is a great liver detoxifier.

4. Cleans your bowels: Lemons increase peristalsis in the bowels helping to create a bowel movement thus eliminating waste and bonus to help with being regularity. Add the juice of one lemon to warm water and drink after you drink your two to three cups of Water first thing in the morning.

5. Scurvy is treated by giving one to two ounces of lemon juice diluted with water every two to four hours. In 1747, a naval James Lind cured scurvy with fresh lemons. To this day, the British Navy requires ships to carry enough lemons so that every sailor can have one ounce of juice a day. This is where the English got their nickname Limeys. Pirates used to eat Lemons to save them from the dreaded scurvy!

6. The citric acid in lemon juice helps to dissolve gallstones, calcium deposits, and kidney stones.

13. Blood vessels are strengthened by the Vitamin P in lemon thus prevents internal haemorrhage. Also, making it useful in treating high blood pressure.

14. The symptoms of eye disorders, including diabetic retinopathy have been shown in research to improve due to the Rutin, found in lemons.

15. Lemons contain 22 anti-cancer compounds, including naturally occurring limonene; oil which slows or halts the growth of cancer tumors in animals and flavonol glycosides which stop cell division in cancer cells.

16. According to The Reams Biological Ionization Theory (RBTI), the lemon is the ONLY food in the world that is Anionic (it’s electron has a negative charge). All other foods are cationic (it’s outer electron has positive charge.) This makes it extremely useful to health as it is the interaction between anions and cations that ultimately provides all cell energy.

Next page:  How to Pick and Use Lemons:

How to pick a good Lemon:

  • Heavier lemons will have the most mineral content and sugar thus thick skinned lemons will be lighter then thin skinned lemons and will have less sweetness and minerals.
  • The ones with the most juice will have finely grained texture peels.
  • Lemons should be fully yellow the ones with green tinges have not fully ripened and will be very acidic.
  • Over ripe lemons will have a wrinkling look, have soft or hard patches and not be a colourful yellow.
  • Lemons stay fresh kept at room temperature (not in sunlight) for about 7 to 10 days. Or store them in the refrigerator crisper for about four to five weeks.
How to use lemons:
  • When life gives you a lemon… squeeze it, mix it with six ounces of distilled water and drink twice daily. ~ Jethro Kloss in his book Back to Eden
  • A bowl of fresh lemons will add fragrance and color to a room for days.
  • Alkalize with lemon water.
  • To reducing sodium intake, squeeze fresh lemon on salads, steamed vegetables, soups and stews.
  • Roll a lemon on the counter a few times before squeezing to maximize the amount of juice.
  • Lemon juice can be stored for later use by putting freshly squeezed lemon juice in ice cube trays until frozen, then store them in containers in the freezer.
  • Dried lemon zest should be stored in a cool and dry place in an airtight glass container.
  • The zest of fresh lemon is a wonderful to recipes in cakes, cookies and in vegetables.
Try a Lemon Facial Cleanser:

“When life gives you lemons, make orange juice and let the world wonder how you did it!! ”  author unknown

Lemon Cautions:
  • Pure lemon juice contains acid which is harmful to teeth enamel. Always dilute with water before taking it.
  • Lemons that are not washed properly like the ones you get in restaurants may include potentially pathogenic microbes.

Start Using Lemon in Your Life Properly!

Meet Andele Lara, the 22-year-old student who is the mirror-image of superstar Rihanna.

Andele, from Boston, Massachusetts is such a dead-ringer for the Bajan beauty that she can't step out the house without being mobbed by screaming Rihanna fans.

Could be twins: Andele was 15 when friends at school first noticed her remarkable likeness to the singer

Strangers follow Andele on her way to work and send her fan mail whilst companies pay her thousands of pounds to endorse their products - making her life not too dissimilar to the Umbrella singer.
Andele is confused for Rihanna on a daily basis and often approached by screaming fans

Her success has prompted Andele to become a full-time Rihanna lookalike.
She explains: 'The moment I step out anywhere, everyone starts staring and whispering before I get bombarded by strangers asking to take their photo with me.
'This happens every day - It doesn't matter what I do. I can't go twenty-four hours without hearing Rihanna's name.
'I know I could happily give up my part-time job and studies to have a career as a Rihanna lookalike.'

As a child, Andele always felt like the ugly ducking. However she became more confident in her looks during her teens.
She says: 'Growing up, I was a very shy girl. I was known as the skinny girl with the big forehead.
'But as I got older, I went through many stages to find myself and experimented with different hairstyles and fashion trends.'
Andele - who is single and dating - was fifteen years old when friends at school first noticed her remarkable likeness to the world-famous diva.
She explains: 'The comments started in my sophomore year. My friend had a magazine with Rihanna on the cover. He held it up to my face and was like "You look like her!"
'I wasn't really sure. She was glammed up in a magazine and here I was in my school uniform.
'Personally, I never realized I looked like Rihanna. I do see some resemblance but not as much as everyone else I think.'
But as Rihanna's fame increased, Andele could not escape the comparisons to the star and her day-to-day life changed forever.

She explains: 'When 'Umbrella' came out, a lot more people began commenting that I looked like Rihanna.
'But after Ri-Ri released her album 'Loud' in 2010, the attention I started to receive for looking like her was undeniable.
'People began approaching me in the street asking if I was her and I would see photos of myself going viral on social media.'
Now, Andele's incredible likeness to the singer means she is regularly swarmed by strangers believing her to be Rihanna.
Andele has landed over £13,000 worth of clothing contracts in the last year
Andele Lara, 22, in Birmingham, is a dead ringer for Bajan pop star Rihanna
Resemblance pays off: Andele has landed over £13,000 worth of clothing contracts in the last year due to her uncanny resemblance

'Literally, people mistake me for her all the time! I only have to step out of the house for an hour before I hear someone say, "Oh my god, is that Rihanna?"
'At first, I thought it was funny to take a picture with someone who believed I was her and then make their day. But as Rihanna gets even more famous, the attention just intensifies.
'Some people follow me into stores or as I'm driving. Other times fifteen people will swarm at me all at once to take a picture with me.
'I do think the attention I get is cool but there have been some scary occasions when some super-fans have followed me on my way to work everyday.
'And I must admit there have also been moments when I couldn't face taking a photo with yet another Rihanna fan. But it really makes their day to think they met Ri-Ri. I've never denied anyone a picture.'
Andele says the attention is most extreme when she goes out clubbing.
'When I go on a night out, that's when the attention is at its highest. Even my friends get annoyed by the number of people that come up to me.
'Men come up to me all the time, thinking I'm Rihanna and buying me drinks! They chat me up and try to get my number.'
Last year, Andele was even mistaken for Rihanna when she happened to be partying at the same nightclub as the star's bad boy ex Chris Brown.
She says: 'I was at a club in Boston and Chris Brown was there. Because he was there, I guess everyone assumed I was Rihanna!
'I was casually walking around and all these star-struck people were holding their hand to their hearts backing away from me and staring.

'At first, I was confused but then I realised what was going on. In the end, I spent the whole night taking fun pictures with groups of people who had mistaken me for Rihanna.'

Andele's resemblance to the singer has thrust her into the limelight and made her well-known on social media.

As a result of the similarities, Andele has landed over £13,000 worth of clothing contracts in the last year and over 18,000 followers on Instagram.

She says: 'I wouldn't really say I've gone out looking for opportunities, they've just come along naturally. I reckon if I put more effort, I would get even more!
'I've scored hair contracts as well as sneaker, mascara, hair accessories and apparel deals. I also get into clubs for free and I get a lot of free drinks too!
'I am grateful for my followers and I love the chance to give them advice. I get tons of fan-mail and messages from people.

'After Rihanna was banned from Instagram in April, some of her fans have written to me saying that my profile had replaced hers in their lives.'
Even Rihanna herself has inadvertently come across Andele on social media.
'One Rihanna fan page on Instagram mistakenly posted my picture with the caption, 'Rare pic of Rihanna' and Rihanna actually commented on it with 'OH?!'
'But that was the closest I'd say to her knowing me. It was a brief moment but the comments and followers on my Instagram that came after that was unbelievable.
'Every time I refreshed my page, I had at least thirty new followers and some really hateful comments too.

'In the end, the attention and mean comments from some users was a bit too much. I had to turn my notifications off on Instagram and make my account private.'
She added: 'I'm a big fan of Rihanna though. A lot of celebrities become someone they aren't but she seems to have stayed true to herself.

'I would love to meet Ri-Ri and take a selfie with her!'
Andele plans on becoming a professional Rihanna lookalike but says she'll have to draw the line at performing like the popstar.

She said: 'I know I could make a career of it. I'm pretty much a lookalike in my daily life now! But unfortunately I can't sing though so I might have to take singing lessons!'

75-yr-old impregnates 13-yr old girl in Oyo

75 year old Pa Muse Alabi is  currently at the State Criminal Investigation Department of the Oyo State Police Command, for defilement of a 13-year-old girl (name withheld) allegedly committed by the old man, and which has resulted in pregnancy.

Tribune reports that Pa Alabi was doing carpentry work for a lady under whom the victim was an apprentice. The young girl seized the opportunity to tell Pa Alabi to build a safe for her. After giving her the safe, Pa Alabi wooed the girl and she agreed to his proposal. After the first sexual intercourse they had, it was learnt that the suspect gave the girl N200. When she also demanded for a handset, he gave her N1,500 to buy i-tel phone.

Four days after, they made love again. Both times were in September this year. In an interview with Crime Reports, Pa Alabi admitted having sex with the girl and the paternity of the baby. He also agreed to marry her and take care of her and the baby when born. According to the man who lives at his family house at Oje area,
“I am a carpenter and I still work till the present time. I even take roofing jobs. I am very strong.I have two daughters and a son. My first wife gave birth to the female children but had to be taken away by her people when she developed mental illness. My second wife is the mother of the boy who is an SSS3 student but she has left for another man. Currently, I have no wife.”
So how does he satisfy his sexual needs when it looks as if he is very active?
“I don’t go looking for any woman. I usually have sex with any of the married women who like me and come to me for sex. This is not always though.”
Speaking on how he came in contact with his victim, the elderly man said
: “I used to do carpentry work for her boss who sells tailoring materials. That was where I knew her. One day, she asked me to help her build a safe in which she could be keeping her money. When I finished it, I asked her to come to my shop for the safe late one evening and I gave it to her.
“She used to pass by my shop whenever she was going home and used to stop by to greet me. On a particular day, I expressed my interest in her and she promised to think about it.She later consented and on one of the days she stopped to say hello to me, we had sex when I had an urge. And it was mutual. About five days after the first time, we had sex again and she stopped coming.
“One day, she came to me and told me that her grandmother said she was pregnant. She stopped coming again and I didn’t see her again until policemen came to arrest me.”
When asked whether he knew that his action was in contravention of the law, Pa Muse replied that he didn’t know, describing the outcome of his relationship with the young girl as “an act of God”. He said:
“Mistake has no master. I pray that God should forgive me.”
The suspect said he doesn’t use any sex performance enhancement drug before making love to a female
“I don’t take any herbal drink for enhancement of sexual performance. They are alcoholic and I don’t take alcohol as a good Muslim. I observe my five-times-daily prayers faithfully.”
Pa Alabi said he was ready to take responsibility over the pregnant girl and the baby she is expecting.
“I can take care of her adequately. I have a nephew who is a medical doctor and he has promised to help too,” he stated.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Olabisi Okuwobi-Ilobanafor however said that the suspect would be charged to court.

I am devastated about the news: Actress Stephanie Linus reacts to 'rape allegations' levied against brother

Recall that reports of how a certain Lagos Big Boy, Daniel Okereke who happens to be the popular actress, Stephanie Okereke's relative is all over the internet.

After being accused of raping a UNILAG Female Student, other victims came out accusing him of assault and narrating how he forced himself on them
Stephanie has now reacted to the allegations.
Read the exclusive mail sent in below:

While it is a very difficult time for me, and my family; I feel the need to make clear my position, lest there be any doubt. Rape is rape, regardless of who the face of the accused is.
Indeed, the irony is not lost on me. I have spent my lifelong career advocating and living my conviction that women around the world should be able to live free of violence, sexual harassment or any form of abuse against their persons. This conviction led me to be involved in numerous initiatives combating violence against women in several countries including the U.S, Liberia and Sierra Leone.
The conviction also led me to place much of my energy on my work with Vesico Vaginal Fistula (VVF), a passion that dates back to my time at the University of Calabar.
As a student, I heard a story about young girls who had been forced into early marriage and were suffering the negative and embarrassing effects of VVF. The story stayed in my consciousness and drove me, for years, to seek ways to raise awareness on the condition; leading to my work with a team of dedicated doctors to carry out repair surgeries for VVF victims across the country; and my self-produced, soon to be released movie, ‘DRY.’
So, again, it is indeed heart breaking for me to receive and deal with news alleging a family member of mine is an alleged perpetrator of sexual violence against a woman. I am devastated.
This case is now in Nigeria’s criminal justice system as the accused awaits arraignment. I have also encouraged and assured the alleged victim of my stance against rape and applaud her for her bravery to upset the culture of silence, in Nigeria; even as I accord deference and patiently wait for the criminal justice system to determine the guilt or innocence of my brother.
For Nigerian press and blogs; I call on you to please report this case in an ethical manner. I am a married woman living my life. The alleged transgression of my relative does not make it mine. The focus should be the impact of rape on the alleged victim, and resources for other alleged victims, not me.
Some members of the press and blogs have turned me into the accuser; using my name for sensational headlines and putting my images, exclusively, in their stories. This is a form of victimization of me as a woman, its unethical and extremely hurtful. I am not the alleged accused.
I therefore please ask all bloggers and the media who have placed my pictures and name to this story to refrain from further using me to sensationalise this story.

UNILAG Female Student Raped By Lagos Big Boy (Must Read)

To the300 level Computer Science student, 6th of November, 2014, was like every other day for her at the University of Lagos, Akoka Yaba. As the female student, who claimed to be sick, returned from lectures and stepped into her apartment located at the Moremi hall in UNILAG, one Daniel Okereke, a big boy who has been wooing her, came visiting.

Without any hesitation, the undergraduate was said to have left her room to attend to her visitor, who it was learnt opted to take her to a pharmaceutical store around Akoka to get some drugs. He reportedly took her to an eatery, so that she could get some food before taking the drugs.

Mr. Okereke
Narrating her ordeal to the police:
the UNILAG female student [names withheld] who had marks of strings on her back, hands and legs , narrated how she narrowly escaped being murdered by Okereke, in her bid to free herself from his grips.

According to her: “When he came visiting, I never knew he had something sinister in his mind until we got to his place. At the eatery, he ordered that the food be made take-away and asked me to go eat it in his place and at the same time rest before taking me back to the hostel.

"Immediately we entered the room, he secured the door and I had supper and later asked to be taken back. But he said he must have sex with me. I tried to appeal to him to consider my state of health and take me back to campus.

"Before I knew what was happening, he started beating me, forcing to have his way. As if that was not enough, he called in seven guards in the compound who assisted him and tied me down. He thereafter, went into his kitchen and brought out a knife, threatening to kill me if I resisted. He took me to one of the rooms where he brought out a condom and raped me."

When the 23 year-old lady was untied, she went violent and started shattering every property she could lay her hands on. In the process, one of the objects she allegedly threw out of the window, landed on a vehicle belonging to one of the tenants, smashing its windscreen. That attracted neighbours.

The case was reported at Area ‘F’ Ikeja. During interrogation, Okereke, claimed to be nephew of the former DG of Nigerian Stock Exchange, and cousin to a front-line Nollywood actress who ironically has a foundation which promotes the well being of women.

The guy was said to have been released on bail, and the case has been transferred to the State CID.

In his defence, Okereke claimed that the female student destroyed his property, hence his action. Now it is her words against his.

In court, Okereke and his accomplice pleaded not guilty to the charges. And the Magistrate, Aje-Afunwa, granted the Lagos big boy, Okereke, bail in the sum of just N200,000. The second guy was granted bail in the sum of just N50,000. The matter was adjourned till next year, January 9, 2015.

Hilarious: Mike Golic Poses Like Kim Kardashian, Ruins the Internet Forever

Look, we had no problem with the Kim's nude photo shoot. If she wanted to make some headlines and feel good about her post-baby body before getting pregnant again, more power to her. Whatever. It didn't affect us in any way.

Until now, that is.
Mike Golic Nude Photo
Last week, ESPN co-anchors Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic made a bet when the former’s alma mater (Northwestern) played the latter’s (Notre Dame) in football.

After Northwestern pulled off the overtime upset, Golic had to come through with his side of the losing wager... which resulted in him re-creating the now-iconic Kim's Paper Magazine photo. And ruining the Internet everything forever in the process.

“We are so, so sorry,” the official Northwestern Sports Twitter account wrote while re-Tweeting the picture above.

Really, though, it should be Kim Kardashian who is apologizing.
If she had just kept her clothes on, we wouldn't have already lost our breakfast this morning and our eyes wouldn't be permanent scarred, either. Thanks a lot, Kim.

Kim Kardashian as a Centaur

Sorry, Kim Kardashian. But you pretty much asked for this with your latest cover pose.
