DOCTORS at Dr Malizo Mpehle Memorial
Hospital in Tsolo (Eastern Cape province of South Africa) delivered a
baby with an eye and a male organ on the forehead yesterday, the
provincial health department said.
The baby girl, who was born to a 16-year-old girl from Qumbu, did not survive.
Eastern Cape department of health spokesman Sizwe Kupelo said the
baby was born with one eye on her forehead, and no eyes where her eyes
should have been.
She had a male organ on the forehead even though she is a girl; and exposed small and large intestines.
“She was born with a small p*nis on the forehead and one eye on the forehead,” Kupelo said.
“She was born with no nose and where there are supposed to be eyes there was nothing, just skin covered over the area.”
Earlier this month, a pair of conjoined twins were born, also at the
Dr Malizo Mpehle district hospital in Tsolo. Kupelo said at the time
that they were the fifth set of conjoined twins born in the former
Transkei in the past 18 months.
Last year in November, one child was born with an exposed heart in
Port Elizabeth and another reported case was one with an exposed brain
in Middleberg.
Kupelo said this pressed for the department to do a study. There were 29 birth defects last year alone.
“We urge pregnant women to start ante-natal care early for early
detection,” said Kupelo, adding that this was vital especially in the
first trimester.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo was visited by the National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) in his hilltop home in Abeokuta, yesterday, November 5, 2014.
Celebrating Silver jubilee with the NAWOJIANS, Obasanjo decided to tie wrapper just like the women.

According to him, the action is to show his support for the women and to encourage women to embrace politics.
Speaking during the visit, Obasanjo said in politics, women are more reliable than men.
He added that women were not often given the opportunity to exhibit
their potential because of cultural and religious inhibitions.
Obasanjo was also presented with a Father of the Nation Award during the visit.
The minister of state for
health, Dr Khaliru Alhassan, has disclosed that health officials in Sierra
Leone have officially informed the ministry that two Nigerians resident in
Freetown have been diagnosed with Ebola Virus Disease (EVD).
He said that one of the
Nigerians is a 27-year-old indigene of Abia State, while the other is a
22-year-old indigene of Edo State.
The minister, who made this
disclosure in Uyo, Akwa Ibom, when he briefed the press on EVD at the
just-concluded National Council on Health Meeting, said that details of the two
cases will be made available when full investigation of their status is
concluded. He stressed that from the
information available to the ministry, both Nigerians received treatment in
isolation centres in Freetown, Sierra Leone, adding that one of them has been
successfully treated and is technically cured, and has returned to Nigeria.
Dr Alhassan said although the
nation’s borders will continue to remain open for the free movement of people
and goods within the region, government will continue to strengthen and sustain
proactive vigilance and surveillance at all its borders – air, sea and land.
Against this backdrop, the
minister appealed to the countries already infected to strengthen their
surveillance and quarantine network to minimise escape from such networks by
people already put under surveillance to other non-infected countries.
He noted that the recent
declaration of Nigeria as an Ebola-free nation on Monday, the 20th of October,
2014 connotes that Nigeria’s strategies to fight the outbreak had worked and
that Nigeria is now not to be listed among countries infected by the deadly
virus any longer, adding that henceforth, no country will stigmatise any
Nigerian as someone coming to contaminate their people.
He ascribed Nigeria’s success in
containing the Ebola disease to responsive governance driven by appropriate
political will, a clear leadership role, and strong multi-sectoral teamwork.
The minister informed the
journalists that Nigeria has already mobilised and trained over 600 health
workers as volunteers to support the containment effort in affected countries
within the West African sub-region under the leadership of ECOWAS.
He noted that Nigeria’s
president had donated $3.5million towards the Ebola scourge in the sub-region.
He also disclosed that at the request of the government of
Sierra Leone, Nigeria made a donation of drugs and supplies to the tune of N50million.
A graduate of Lead City University, Ibadan, who passed out with
1st-class honors has been sentenced to one-year imprisonment after
pleading guilty to a two-count charge of conspiracy and obtaining money
under false pretenses.
Olakunle Akanni was sentenced on Nov. 4th at the Ikeja High Court
in Lagos for defrauding a 77 year-old American woman, Diana Huizenga,
of over 12,000 dollars through an internet love scam.
One
of his accomplices, Adesina Akinsola, 30, was also given a similar
sentence by the judge but adjourned the sentencing of their co-accused,
30-year-old Dele Oshuntogun, till Nov. 17.
There are reports that the convicts entered a plea bargain with the
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Lawal-Akapo
consequently sentenced them to one year imprisonment on each of the
counts.
He said the sentences were to run concurrently beginning from the day the judgment was delivered.
“The first defendant, Olakunle Akanni, is to pay the sum of N2 million
which is the equivalent of $12, 820 to the victim (Huizenga), as
restitution. Also, the third defendant, Akinsola, is to pay the sum of
N500, 000 to the victim as restitution,” the judge ordered.
He also ordered them to write an undertaken to be submitted to the EFCC
that they would be of good behaviour upon their release from prison
custody.
Mrs Zainab Ettuh , the EFCC counsel, narrating the facts of the case,
told the court that the convicts committed the offences between
December 2010 and February 2012 in Lagos.
She said Olakunle Akanni falsely presented himself to Huizenga as one
Robert Lewis, a white American living in Nigeria, who was in love with
her.
According to her, "the convicts used the “love scam” to fleece the woman
and even invited her to come to Nigeria with $90,000 before they were
apprehended".

posted pictures of herself in stilettos, caressing her custom-made pink
AK-47 automatic rifle, reclining among masked men and propping a deadly
M16 assault rifle on her curvaceous hip.

of narcotics and narcissism undercut her emphatic denial that she is La
Emperatriz de Los Ántrax - the Empress of Los Ántrax.
Known as the Mexican Kim Kardashian,
the mother-of-three gained notoriety after it was wrongly reported she
had been tortured and assassinated. The victim was, in fact, Yurina
Castillo Torres, a former girlfriend of Gamboa who looked remarkably
like Claudia. Despite her insistence that she is just a devoted mum,
Claudia wasted no time in capitalising on the mistake by raising her
notoriety through her internet sites with a flood of incriminating
pictures.
But as news emerged of her rise to power she was quick
to delete as much evidence as she could linking her to Los Ántrax.

the ammunition clip and another of one of her young sons lying on a bed
covered in bundles of cash. She can be seen posing with members of a
folk band which composed a ballad to Los Ántrax. In one photo the
27-year-old is even seen holding a grenade launcher while warning:

Claudia is also seen countless times in images posted by
young members of the Sinaloa. One intelligence source said: “Felix
claims she is just a regular mum but how many mothers have custom-made
guns?“She has access to astronomical wealth but has never worked a
day nor come from a family with money. None of her former boyfriends
have either.”
The father of her children is reported to be feared
cartel lieutenant El Chavo Felix. However they split and Claudia moved
on to another gang member Dorian Trinidad Leon Angulo. He died in a car crash – shortly after escaping jail – in 2011 while Claudia sat by his side.
She
survived and again found love inside the cartel, becoming involved with
El Chino who, according to reports, she went on to marry. The playboy
was the gang’s top enforcer. His main roles were to oversee its armed
squadron and protect Sinaloa’s top brass, which included the leader of
the cartel, El Chapo (Shorty) Guzman, who is currently under arrest in
Mexico.
Like Claudia, El Chino loved social media, inundating
Twitter and Instagram with photos showing his ill-gotten sports cars,
yachts and guns. Away from the internet he was busy ensuring the Sinaloa
cartel remained the most powerful gang in the world.
A blood-soaked war between drug gangs, raging in Mexico since
2006, has claimed 100,000 lives. Anyone who threatens to stand in
Sinaloa’s way is immediately killed, with El Chino accused of being
personally responsible for many murders, including the killings of the
three hung from a bridge in 2011.
The execution was seen as revenge after a Sinaloa leader was murdered in a war with the rival Beltran Leyva cartel.
Countless
victims have been executed by the gang’s trademark chainsaw beheading.
Several folk songs, known as narcocorridos, mention El Chino Antrax as
an elegant and fit man with a taste for the high life – and extreme
violence. His nickname, El Chino, is said to have been coined as he
looks to some as though he has Chinese ancestry.
In Twitter and
Instagram posts he would often blur his face, while wielding automatic
weapons and posing with scantily clad girls.

expensive jewellery. One picture is with Paris Hilton. According to a
report, he photo-bombed the US socialite while she gave a TV interview.

tortured, hanged and her body dumped behind a school.
And news of
Claudia’s alleged “appointment” led to a frenzy of activity on her media
sites. She soon accumulated more than 100,000 followers.
Despite
the assassination bid, Claudia refuses to quit her champagne lifestyle
and is often seen in the clubs of Mazatlan, Culiacan and Guadalajara.
But now she is always surrounded by armed men.
A man was found to have 20 maggots living under his skin after he complained of sore and itchy blotches on his body.
The man, surnamed Ma, from Guangzhou, China, had spent six months working in Africa, according to Apple Daily,
When he returned home, he went to see local doctors about his itchy skin but his condition did not improve.
He endured the itching for another two weeks before seeing a dermatologist at the Shenzhen Nanshan Hospital.

A blood test confirmed his diagnosis, as it showed elevated levels of eosinophils, white blood cells for combating parasites and infections.
The man later underwent a minor surgical procedure to extract a total of 20 wriggling live maggots from his body.
The maggots were later identified as tumbu fly maggots, a type of blowfly whose larvae is known to feed on living human tissue.
Travellers to Africa, where the parasitic flies are prevalent, are advised to take precaution against insects.

in Londrina, a city in southern Brazil, the unnamed man decided to put
the fish into his own rear as part of a bizarre sexual fantasy.
Instead of being able to pull it out, the South American Lungfish wriggled its way up into the gentleman's guts, passing a 'considerable way' before he sought medical help.
The fish was surgically removed by doctors who say they have "no idea" how the footage ended up being leaked onto social media.
However, the footage clearly shows many people standing in the background dressed in surgical gear and watching.
Several appear to have mobile telephones recording the incident.
