This was disclosed by the Minister for Health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu,
today August 14 in Abuja.
According to Sahara Reporters, Onyebuchi said the nurse has so far not
developed the symptoms as at the time of her trip.
The nurse who had contacts with the dead Liberian, Patrick Sawyer, in Lagos
caused quite a stir yesterday, when it was discovered that she had travelled to
Enugu against medical advice and had contact with 21 people.
However Onyebuchi said after investigation, there are now only 6 secondary
contacts.
The health minister also revealed that a concerned Nigerian scientist in
Diaspora was sending an experimental drug named ‘Nanosilver’, for Ebola
treatment. He said the drug will be arriving Nigeria today.
Speaking on those quarantined, he said some of the 169 secondary contacts of
Sawyer were no longer under surveillance and had been released after completing
the 21 days of incubation period.
