Why I Left APC and Joined PDP ––Nuhu Ribadu

Ex-Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, on Sunday justified his defection from the opposition All Progressives Congress to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, saying he did so because the APC is not better than the PDP.

Ribadu, who was the 2011 presidential candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, forerunner of the APC, said there was no real difference between the PDP and APC, in terms of the character of the people who constituted both parties.

“In Nigeria, especially in politics, you can’t say that this is an exclusive party for the people who are thieves or this is for good people.
“It’s just like saying that all Yorubas are this or all Igbos are this. In every group of people, there must be good people and there are bad people. Of course, the good may be more than the bad or the bad may be more than the good in any group.
“But there is no any party that is exclusively for the good people or for the bad people.”
Ribadu stated this in a chat with Punch through his spokesman, Mr. Abdulaziz Abdulaziz.

He said that his defection was not borne out of his desperation to realize his political ambition but was based on his patriotic zeal to serve the country and his people.

Abdulaziz said, “It is not true that he (Ribadu) was desperate to realise his political ambition. This is because this decision was taken in the overriding interest of serving the people.

“What matters for him is service. That is why even when he was a member of the opposition party, when government asked him to serve the country, he accepted the offer and he did a wonderful job that everybody hailed except those who don’t want change in the system. If you are ready to serve the people, sometimes you will have to do something that is not even palatable to yourself.

Popular Actress/Singer: How I Got HIV From My Church Member 7 Years Ago

Ghanaian actress-cum-singer Joyce Dzidzor Nartey is a 27-year-old mother of 2. Nartey, an HIV/AIDS Awareness Ambassador, has said she got HIV in her church 7 years ago. Speaking on DSTV’s AfricaMagic channel, Nartey said, “I have lived with HIV/AIDS virus for seven years now. I contacted the disease in 2007. But I’m just a normal person. When people meet me and tend to find out how I’m feeling, I always tell them I’m a normal person.

“I contacted the disease in 2007, through a member of my church. I was to spend a night with him in his house. When he removed his clothes, I saw some kind of rashes all over his body. I was terrified, as I innocently asked him why he was like that. He covered up, saying it was a minor skin infection and that it was nothing serious. But when he wanted to make love to me, I insisted that he must used condom. He told me that he didn't like using condom.

However, when I insisted, he agreed but he never used it. He removed it while entering into me. We did it several times that night. After few weeks, I became pregnant for him. When I told him, I was pregnant, he advised me to abort the baby. But I refused, insisting on keeping the baby. He later warned me that if insisted, I would have myself to blame in future. I never knew what he meant until I was diagnosed HIV positive. He also infected other ladies in the church before he died.”

On her marriage, she added that: “Before we got married, my husband was educated about the deadly disease. But he is also a carrier of the disease. At the moment, medically both of us are negative to HIV virus. This is because we have been put on medication for long. But that does not mean, we should stop taking our medication. Even though we test negative now, we keep taking our medication. We had one child together who did not test positive to HIV because of the medication.

“Marriage for me was normal but they say, in every marriage there are challenges. Things have happened in the past which I wouldn't want to talk about here. Talking about the stigma, there was one day, my seven-year old son came from school and told me to stop that HIV thing that I am doing. According to him, his friends said, they wouldn't play with him because his mum is HIV positive. There are challenges but life must go on.” (Nigeriafilms)

Ebola: Cameroon closes borders, suspends flights from Nigeria

Following the fears of spread of the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) through international air and seaports, including border land outposts of Nigerian Immigration Serives (NIS) in the Northeast sub-region of country, Cameroon has closed its borders with Nigeria and suspended all flights to and from Nigeria.
Cameroon, according to the NIS, has a border boundary of over 2, 000 kilometres in Borno, Adamawa, Taraba and Cross Rivers states in the South-South sub-region of Nigeria.

Speaking yesterday on a special programme of the Hausa Service of British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) monitored in Maiduguri, the spokesman of Cameroon Foreign Affairs, Chiroumma Boukkari said the decision to close the borders with Nigeria has become inevitable, because of the fears of the ebola that spreads like wild fire in the West African sub-region.
“This decision on border closure and suspension of all flights to and from Nigeria was to protect the lives of Cameroonian citizens living within and outside from contracting ebola, as Nigeria, our main trading partner in Africa had been facing since July 20, 2014 when Patrick Sawyer sneaked into the country aboard a flight with the deadly virus.”
He however, noted that the border closure and temporary suspension of flights to and from Nigeria will be for a minimum of one month. He also advised Cameroonian citizens to take the closure of borders and flight suspension seriously in protecting their lives and property.
“The border closures with our main trading partner will be lifted, as soon as Nigeria contains the spread of the deadly viral disease. We also urge all border security agencies of the two countries to be vigilant by complying with this border closures made on Saturday by the foreign office here in Ngaudore,” said Boukkari.

The affected border outposts in Borno state include,  Kirawa, Duji, Mallam Fatori, Gamboru, Banki, Damba/Masara, Baga, Danbaure, Sigal and Jilbe, 145 kilometres northeast of Maiduguri, the state capital.

Tonto Dikeh & Toyin Lawani in a serious beef over a dress

Tonto-Dikeh-Toyin-Lawani

For a few years, whenever actress/singer Tonto Dikeh stepped on the red carpet, you would know she was wearing a piece by Toyin Lawani of Tiannah Styling. Tonto and Toyin were always spotted together at parties and private events. Fast forward to 2013, Tonto moved on to a new stylist – Jeremiah Ogbodo (Swanky Signatures Styling).

The two who clearly don’t have tea or coffee together anymore, took to Instagram to speak against each other. The drama all started after Tonto Dikeh posted a photo of herself at a party years ago, and gave credit to her new stylist instead of Toyin. A not-so-happy Toyin posted multiple images of all the times she styled Tonto and said:

“Patrick Sawyer Was An Evil Man With An Evil Intention And Purpose’- Femi Fani-Kayode

Femi Fani-Kayode took to his Facebook page today to express his thoughts on the Liberian who brought the deadly Ebola virus to Nigeria, Patrick Sawyer. According to Fani-Kayode, Mr Sawyer was sent on an evil mission to Nigeria. He believes that there is a big conspiracy by people in power, to spread the virus.

Read what he wrote below:

“I disagree with those who have described Patrick Sawyer as a madman. He was not mad at all but just evil. He was a man that was on a mission. That mission was to spread the ebola virus to Nigeria and to infect and kill as many people as possible with it.
He was an evil man with an evil intention and purpose. Worst still he was not working alone. Some people, and I mean rich, powerful and well-connected people, were working with him. As a matter of fact they sent him on the mission.
They cultivated him, took care of him, paid him, brainwashed him, gave him all that he wanted in life and finally asked him to go on a suicide mission to destroy the lives of others and spread the deadly disease.
This was a clear case of bio-terrorism and Sawyer was simply a pawn in a bigger game and a wider picture. The motive of those who sent him was to spread fear and panic, to kill as many people as possible, to create a need for a solution to the problem, to prepare the ground for a new wonder drug that could cure Ebola, to create a massive market for that drug and to ensure that there would be massive profits from it’s sale.
As usual it is the unbelieving, unprepared, undiscerning and naive Africans that have been used as the prime guinea pigs. When will they stop destroying us and treating us with such contempt? When will they begin to see and treat us as human beings?”.

Kim Kardashian has revealed why she may appear to be more open/honest about her opinions since she got married.

She told People magazine:

‘I think when you have a baby there’s like no time for anything like shit. ‘Excuse my language. You don’t have time for it and sometimes I see things and I’m like, “I’m not gonna let that slide. This person was wrong” or whatever. ‘I’m feeling I speak my mind a little bit more after I’ve had our daughter. I don’t know if it’s a combination of being married to someone that’s superhonest and open and says whatever he wants whenever he wants to or just not having time really for anything else but the truth and just being real.”

Ace Comedian, Julius Agwu has now disclosed why he is going into politics. He told Vanguard that he aims to restore the lost glory of the Rivers State.

"I cannot really call myself a politician, but l am someone who prays and wishes for things to get better than it is in this country. I believe I can help to achieve what my brother started in Rivers State. It is a known truth that Port Harcourt was the Garden City of this great country, but we lost that glory because of poverty and neglect, coupled with incessant militancy and kidnapping. Governor Amaechi has done well for the State, but we still need good hands after he leaves to continue the good work," he explained.

He further stated that the people of Rivers state and Diaspora have been asking him to contest for the position, saying he didn’t just take the decision to run for the post.

"Becoming the governor of Rivers State was not something that came up overnight. It was not on my radar back then. The people of Rivers State in the Diaspora and those in the State have been clamoring for me to come out as an aspirant. They believe I have what it takes to go for it. It just dawned on me that I indeed have what it takes. I have given it a serious thought and have given in to their pressure,” the comedian said.

He also refused to mention the names of his financial for the guber ambition for security reasons.
