CBN Re-introduces Fee for ATM Withdrawals

ATM machine - csp13784338

From the 1st of September 2014, bank customers will pay a token for cash withdrawals made on other banks’ Automated Teller Machines (ATM). The Central Bank of Nigeria announced this on Wednesday.
If you recall, customers used to pay N100 if they used other banks’ ATM, but it was cancelled by the CBN and Deposit Money Banks in December 2012.
Now the current fee is N65, that is N35 less than the former fee.
The Central Bank agreed to re-introduce the charges because the cost of transaction was becoming too burdensome for the banks to continue to bear.
Director of Banking and Payment Systems Department of CBN Dipo Fatokun said the first three withdrawals on other banks’ ATM will be free but it would become effective on the fourth withdrawal in a month.

The statement posted on the official website reads:
“The CBN hereby issues the following directives: The re-introduction of ‘Remote-on-us’ ATM cash withdrawal transaction fee, which will now be N65 per transaction, to cover the remuneration of switches, ATM monitoring and fit-notes processing by acquiring banks; the new charge shall apply as from the fourth ‘Remote-on-us’ withdrawal (in a month) by a cardholder, thereby making the first three ‘Remote on us’ transaction free for the cardholder, but to the paid by the issuing bank.
September 1, 2014 shall be the effective date for the implementation of the new charge; banks are expected to conduct adequate sensitization to the customers on the introduction of the new fee; all ATM cash withdrawals on the ATM of issuing banks shall be at no cost to the cardholder.”

O.J. Simpson in Prison: I'd KILL For Kim Kardashian!

O.J. Simpson is definitely obsessed with Kim Kardashian!

"He has several sexy pictures of Kim hanging up in his prison cell from her 2007 Playboy shot and he isn’t shy about showing her picture to fellow inmates,” an insider tells Radar Online.
  • O.J. Simpson Fat
  • Kim at Teen Choice Awards
Simpson, of course, is serving a 33-year sentence at Lovelock Correctional Center in Nevada for a 2008 robbery and kidnapping conviction.
He also almost definitely killed two people in 1994.
Despite being locked up, however, Simpson still follows celebrity gossip apparently.
"She likes black ball players, I am a Hall of Famer - and I still have my Heisman award," Simpson allegedly joked to a friend recently, referencing Kim's ex, Reggie Bush, who had to forfeit his Heisman for breaking NCAA rules.
And Simpson is confident in his chances with Kardashian, despite the likelihood that he'll die in jail and despite her marriage to Kanye West.
"As long as I am in prison, I can’t be with her so Kanye can have her for now," he says. “But when I get out she’s mine.”
Simpson and then-wife Nicole Brown Simpson used to be close to Kris Jenner and her first husband Robert Kardashian, going on multiple family vacations with them in the late 1980s early 1990s when Kim was a child.
So he's known, and apparently admired, Kim for awhile.
"He reads every magazine he can about her and when she is on TV he demands silence from his fellow inmates so he can watch without interruption," the source claims. "He’s even tried to get in contact with her, but so far she hasn’t responded to him."
Simpson may be eligible for parole in 2017. Consider yourself warned, Kanye.

National Hunters’ Association: Stop Telling Nigerians Not To Eat Bush Meat

The National Hunters’ Association of Nigeria has told the government to stop telling Nigerians not to consume bush meat because it has affected their business drastically in the last few days and its also driving its members into unemployment. The association made this known while addressing journalists in Lagos during a conference held with journalists to address the situation.
The President of the group, Chief Ishola Olasehinde while speaking at the conference said;
“We want to use this medium to tell the government that our businesses have been affected since they have informed people to stop consuming bush meat to prevent Ebola. This is our only means of sustenance. Even if there is any virus in these animals, once they are boiled and fried, it gets killed. Government should include hunters in their research if they really want to prove that bush meat causes Ebola.
We hunters are the ones who protect the country’s borders from being invaded by nomads from Mali and Lake Chad. If not for our activities in the forest, Boko Haram members would have taken control of many cities in the country. This is not the way the government should reward us,” he said.

Kate Middleton Is At War With Queen Elizabeth II!!!

Kate Middleton, Queen Elizabeth
Kate Middleton and Prince William's grandmother, HRM Queen Elizabeth, may seem like they enjoy a kind, cordial relationship, but not the case, says one tabloid.
The two are actually at war. AT WAR!! And Kate has the upper hand!
Kate Middleton AT WAR!

One wouldn't think that with all the Kate Middleton baby bump speculation, a tabloid would focus on a fake beef with an 88-year-old, but we digress.
While this supposed feud between a one-time commoner and one of the longest-reigning monarchs in the history of Europe is FAR from over, Kate is winning.
According to Life & Style, the Duchess scored "her biggest victory yet” over her elderly foe by convincing Prince William to move out of Kensington Palace.
Their family is off to the countryside. The Queen is supposedly very unhappy ... even though she actually gave the couple the estate they will be relocating to.
To be closer to William's job as a pilot. But who's counting.
Says the alleged, anonymous, all-knowing palace source:
“The queen is furious. It’s a huge slap in the face. Kate, and now William, are sending the message that they refuse to be forced by the queen to do anything.”
Sure thing. Amazingly, William's move to Norfolk is not the first thing that's sparked gossip about the Queen and Kate going at it, a recurring (bogus) topic.
It won't be the last time, either. Publications are starved for any real news about the Duchess, and will stop at next to nothing to stir up some scandal. (Hollywoodgossip)

Ebola: Why my husband travelled to Nigeria -Patrick Sawyer’s Wife Opens Up

Click for Full Image Size

Decontee Sawyer, widow of late Patrick Sawyer, the Liberian who brought Ebola into Nigeria, has defended her husband’s decision to travel to Africa’s most populous country, saying he did so in desperate search for a country with better healthcare system than his own country.

In an article published earlier yesterday, TMZ Liberia Magazine quoted Decontee Sawyer, who is a radio host in New York, as explaining that Mr. Sawyer had no trust in the healthcare system in Liberia and had possibly headed to Nigeria with the hope of receiving better treatment for his ailment.
Mrs. Sawyer shared her thoughts on her Facebook profile from which TMZ Liberia sourced it for publication.

“I’ve read other reports in other papers (not the New York Times) about Patrick’s “recklessness.” I get where they’re coming from, and they certainly have the right to feel the way they do. However, as Patrick’s widow, I would like to shed some light on this from another perspective. One that only I, his wife, would know,” she wrote.

“I knew Patrick better than anybody else (including himself). He had told me many times in the past how much he didn’t trust the Liberian healthcare system. He would tell me about how a person would get checked in for one thing, and get misdiagnosed and get the wrong treatment as a result. On top of that, Patrick was a clean freak, and told me how filthy a lot of the hospitals were.

“He didn’t tell me this, but I know in my heart of hearts that Patrick was determined to get to Nigeria by all means because he felt that Nigeria would be a place of refuge. He has expressed to me many times in the past that he felt passionately about helping to be a part of strengthening Liberia’s healthcare system, but he knew it wasn’t there yet, and he wouldn’t want to take a chance with his life because a lot of people depended on him… Patrick had a passion for life, and he wouldn’t have wanted his to end. So, I bet anything that he was thinking, if I could only get to Nigeria, a way more developed country than Liberia, I would be able to get some help. How ironic.”

Many Nigerians, and even Liberians, condemned Mr Sawyer for traveling to Nigeria despite knowing that he was carrying Ebola virus before embarking on the trip. Some Nigerians on social media have described him as a “biological terrorist” arguing that he came into the country deliberately to spread the disease.

On Monday in Abuja, President Goodluck Jonathan described Mr Sawyer’s decision to travel to Nigeria as pure “madness” and “craziness.”

“Sawyer that brought this Ebola to Nigeria; his sister died of Ebola. And he started acting somehow, his country asked him not to leave the country, let them observe him, but the crazy man decided to leave and found his way here,” President Jonathan said.

In her post, Mrs. Sawyer wrote that the fact that her husband avoided contact with others at the James Sprigg Payne’s Airport in Monrovia as revealed by airport CCTV footage proved he didn’t set out to infect others with the disease and perhaps his actions were that of a dying man in desperate search for help.

“It has been reported that Patrick avoided physical contact with everyone he came across during his trip from Liberia to Nigeria. When he got to Nigeria, he turned himself in letting them know that he had just flown in from Liberia.

“Patrick went to Nigeria for help so that he can get properly diagnosed, and not misdiagnosed in Liberia. And if it came back that he did have Ebola, he trusted the Nigerian healthcare system a lot more than he trusted the Liberian’s. His action, as off as it was, was a desperate plea for help. Patrick didn’t want to die, and he thought his life would be saved in Nigeria.”

Mrs. Sawyer then took a swipe at the Liberian President, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, who said Mr Sawyer was indiscipline and disrespectful for failing to heed medical advise not to travel.

Mrs Sawyer said if President Johnson-Sirleaf had fixed the healthcare system in Liberia, her husband would not have left in search of treatment elsewhere.

“I write today, not simply because of Patrick, but because of the broken healthcare system in the Liberia, and the government’s inability under President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf (and other past Presidents) to fix it. Good doctors, nurses, and other healthcare providers aren’t given the support they need to save lives.

“President Sirleaf went on CNN News throwing stones at Patrick, a man who can no longer defend himself, a man who worked tirelessly for Liberia. She should be ashamed of herself. I use to admire this woman, and was excited and proud of her accomplishment as the first woman President in the entire continent of Africa. She will always own that. We will always own that. It can’t be taken away from her. It’s something to be proud of. But this woman has failed her country,” she wrote.

Nigeria was free of Ebola until July 20 when Mr. Sawyer arrived.

He became terribly ill on his flight and was rushed to the First Consultant Hospital Obalende, Lagos, where he died on July 24.

Nigeria’s Health Minister, Onyebuchi Chukwu, said on Monday that although the Liberian government has apologized for the incidence, it was pertinent to note that Nigeria was free of Ebola Virus until its importation by the Liberian-American.

Mr. Sawyer’s action, he said, has placed unnecessary stress on Nigeria’s health system.

Since Mr. Sawyer’s death in a Lagos hospital, two other persons who had contact with him have died of the virus. At least eight others have also tested positive to the infection and have been quarantined at a Lagos hospital.

President Goodluck Jonathan has since declared a national emergency on the disease while the federal health ministry in conjunction with health ministries in the 36 states are working to prevent the spread of the virus, which has killed over 1,000 people in Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone.

Celine Dion is taking a break from her professional life for unfortunate personal reasons.
According to People, Dion has postponed her Las Vegas residency, canceled her tour of Asia and postponed all show business activities indefinitely due to her husband's health issues.
In December, René Angélil had a tumor removed from his throat last December and this illness has resulted in "a very difficult and stressful time," the singer tells the magazine.

She adds:
"I want to devote every ounce of my strength and energy to my husband's healing, and to do so, it's important for me to dedicate this time to him and to our children. I also want to apologize to all my fans everywhere, for inconveniencing them, and I thank them so much for their love and support."
The 46-year old artist is also suffering from inflammation in her throat muscles, which has prevented her from performing her show at Caesars Palace since July 29.
She and Angélil are the parents of three children and Dion forever won us over by extending a concert invitation to the awesome dude who covered All By Myself inside the Las Vegas airport in June.

We wish him quick recovery....

15 Arguments No Guy Has Ever Won Against His Girlfriend

By
Being in a relationship isn’t all holding hands and rainbows and consistent intimacy. There comes a time, every so often, when a couple butts heads, which is exactly why they invented make-up sex.
As much as he protests, as much as he tries to fight back, there are just some arguments that no matter what, a man will never win. Because — repeat after me — the lady is always
right.

Here are 11 arguments a guy will never win with his girlfriend.

1. The “Be Honest” Fight “Be honest. Do you think I’ve gained weight?” “Maybe a little bit.”
“WHAT?!”
“You said be honest….”
That’s the thing about honesty — when someone asks for it, it probably means you should lie.
Except when it comes to questions about her weight, her Bottom and her parents… then you should definitely lie.

2. The “Why Were You Checking Her Out?” Fight
Even if you weren’t checking out another girl, even your eyeballs could not have possibly looked in the direction your girlfriend is claiming, even if there wasn’t an actual female in
sight. You’re never going to win this argument. And the more you protest, the more she’ll fire back.
Take a tip from my senior history teacher: Always give her the view of the restaurant so
your eyes aren’t tempted to wander.

3. The “I Can’t Read Your Mind” Fight
“I didn’t mean it when I said I didn’t want to celebrate our anniversary!”

4. The “I Caught You Looking At P.orn”
Fight Men are always getting caught looking at p.orn, and this time it’s no different. Tuck your tail under, tell her the requisite things she needs to hear and have some make-up sex that’s better than the movies.

5. The “Leaving Flirty Comments On Facebook” Fight
Oh, so you thought we wouldn’t see that borderline slutty comment you left on that girl’s Facebook photo in which she so happens to look pretty darn good like a b*tch? Delete it now or else you shall feel the wrath of one thousand suns.

6. The “We’re Watching ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ Tonight” Fight
We promise you’ll really like it in the end! It’s so good, there’s even Meryl Streep and we all just die over her. Thanks baby, you’re the best! Shut. It. Down.

7. The “Make More Of An Effort With My Friends” Fight
You know what you have to do. Even if it means dancing to Katy Perry and not touching your girlfriend’s Bottom for two hours.

8. The “I’m Drunk And Irrational And Need Attention” Fight
This fight is not unlike a Russian movie — it’s painful to get through and difficult to interpret, but there could be worse things, like needing to hold her hair back.
9. The “Why Do You Still Have That Unclad Photo?” Fight
Who the eff is that girl and where can I get her trainer delete that sh*t right now. Why do you still have it and you better not have opened it since 2005. Congratulations bro, you just unleashed a whole load of cray cray, so make like a scissor and cut it out.

10. The “You Seriously Want To Chill With Your Bros More Than Me?” Fight

Do your friends have bosoms? Did they pick up those chocolate-covered bananas you like? That’s right. Didn’t think so. Go have fun playing video games and picking your noses with the guys.

11. The “You’re Coming To The Beyoncé Concert With Me” Fight
She’s an icon and you know it. We won’t even mind if you hold your balls the entire night to secure your manliness. Great, buying the tickets now. We love you like XO.

12. The “I Found Something On Your Phone That I Didn’t Like” Fight
So, we went snooping through your phone — clearly we needed to do some investigating.
It still doesn’t compare to the perceived offensive text messages you’ve been engaging in.
Regardless of how pissed you are that she broke your privacy, perhaps you shouldn’t give her any reason to do so.

13. The “Why Are You Wishing Your Ex A Happy Birthday?” Fight
We don’t care if she threw a “Billy Madison”- style birthday party and then offered you a
gigantic slice of cake. We all know what saying “Happy Birthday” to an ex means: I’m still not over you and I want you to think of me on your special day. Her candle was blown out ages ago.

14. The “I Don’t Want To Leave This Party Early” Fight
Unless you plan on getting cozy with your hand tonight, you will stay with us until we are ready to leave. This isn’t us making a scene, it’s us relishing in the scene.

15. The “Tell Me You Love Me” Fight
This one usually doesn’t come out until you’ve fought about something completely unrelated for 20 minutes.

Who said girls were complicated?

EBOLA SCARE: Health Workers Flee At General Hospital In Lagos

Information just coming in suggests that there was confusion at the Orile-Agege General Hospital, Agege area of Lagos, southwest Nigeria, on Tuesday, 12 August, 2014 when a patient was brought to the hospital with symptoms of the deadly Ebola Virus Disease, EVD.

P.M NEWS reports that the patient, who was brought into the hospital in the morning, was bleeding all over his body and as a result, nurses, doctors and other patients in the hospital fled from him.

A health worker attending to a patient of Ebola virus

A source in the hospital, who did not want her name published because she was not authorised to speak on the matter, informed that the patient had come to the hospital last week complaining of fever, but re-appeared on Tuesday with blood coming out from his body.
The source added that everybody in the hospital fled from the patient in order not to contract the deadly Ebola Virus.

A health official, who also craved anonymity, confirmed to newsmen that the case was reported at the hospital on Tuesday. It was gathered that the authorities of the Orile-Agege General Hospital informed the Ifako-Ijaiye General Hospital about the patient, saying they did not have the wherewithal to handle the case.
It was learnt that the Ifako-Ijaiye General Hospital declined and called the State Ministry of Health officials who ordered that nobody should touch the patient as government was coming to pick him up.
Officials of the Lagos State Government, it was gathered, picked up the patient and the man who brought him to the hospital and took them away to be tested if the case was actually an Ebola one.
However, attempt to get the Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris to confirm the incident proved abortive as his Public Relations Officer, Bosun Ogunbamwo, said he had gone to Abuja.
In a related development, reports sstated that there was also panic on Lagos Island, western Nigeria, on Tuesday when a middle aged woman identified as Ada, slumped at CMS bus stop.
It was gathered that immediately the woman, who sells newspapers, suddenly collapsed on the road, people started running away from her thinking that she was a victim of Ebola virus.

The incident, according to eyewitnesses, was said to occur at about 6p.m as the woman was trekking along the road on Odulami Steet and suddenly collapsed on the major road.
The eyewitnesses said because of the outbreak of Ebola virus in the country, people refused to go near her to render assistance until people who knew her, including some newspaper vendors, arrived the scene to identify the woman as Ada and dispelled the rumours that she was a victim of Ebola virus.
It was gathered that sympathisers immediately started buying sachets water and pouring it on the collapsed woman’s body.
She however did not regain consciousness, but was seen breathing faintly on the ground
The incident was said to attract a huge crowd who stormed the scene to catch a glimpse of the woman.
A vendor at the scene of incident, who claimed to know the woman as a vendor, said the woman habitually drinks local gin called ‘ogogoro’, and said each time she drank it in excess she would collapse and sleep on the spot for at least three to four hours before she would regain her consciousness.
“We have been talking to her to stop drinking the illicit gin, but she would not listen,” he said.
