Sarah Palin Calls For Impeachment of Barack Obama, Twitter Doubles Over in Laughter

Former political figure Sarah Palin is calling for President Barack Obama to be impeached in an op-ed quickly seized upon by every wannabe comedian on Twitter.
Palin's scathing indictment on Breitbart, in which she likens Obama to an abusive husband and America to his battered wife, set the Internet ablaze.
Reactions on both sides then threw gasoline on it.

In her view, it's Obama’s diabolical plan to have Mexicans take jobs from Americans, so as to strengthen his hold on power, and he should be ousted as a result.

Atletico Madrid sign Mario Mandzukic

The reigning Liga champions have officially announced their capture of the Croatia international from Bayern Munich, with the 28-year-old excited to work with Diego Simeone Atletico Madrid have confirmed the signing of Mario Mandzukic from Bayern Munich for a fee believed to be in the region of €22 million. The Spanish champions have long been linked with a move for the Croatia international, who grew disenchanted under Pep Guardiola and was deemed surplus to requirements following the free transfer of Robert Lewandowski, as they sought a replacement for Chelsea-bound Diego Costa. Bayern already announced earlier this week that they had agreed verbal terms with Atletico and Mandzukic has now signed a four-year deal with his new club after passing his medical. “I am very happy to be here. I am well aware of Atletico and I know they have good players and a good coach,” Mandzukic commented on his move. “I know a lot about Atletico, I have seen several games and I like the style of play. “The coach is very good, they have good players, and I think I can do great things with this team.” 

Atletico director Jose Luis Caminero believes Mandzukic is just what the Liga champions need in their hunt for more silverware. “The signing of Mandzukic is great news because he has all the characteristics we were looking for,” Caminero said. “He is a strong striker with a powerful shot, who is a real aerial threat, too. He is a true winner and a player who is used to winning titles. He will add a lot to Atletico.” The 28-year-old won two Bundesliga titles, the Champions League and two DFB-Pokals with Bayern since joining the Bavarians from Wolfsburg in 2012. Landlord Sexually Assaulted Tenant’s 7-Yr-Old Daughter, Pleaded Not Guilty

A 40-year-old man was detained by police on suspicion of rape and appeared in Yaba Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Wednesday.

It was gathered that John Ogunsola, who lives at 61, Olatunde St., Oke Ira, Ogba, Lagos, lured his tenant’s seven-year-old daughter to his apartment and sexually assaulted her with his finger. The accused committed the offence on May 27 while the girl’s parents were not at home. Later one of the tenants told the girl’s mother about the incident and the matter was reported to the police.

“Ogunsola had, on the fateful day, called the minor to purchase a bottle of Pepsi drink for him. When she arrived with the drink, he told her to bring it to him in his room. He then indecently assaulted her by inserting his finger into her private part,” the prosecutor said.

However, Ogunsola pleaded not guilty to the charge. The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Yewande Aje-Afunwa, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of a N2m with two sureties each in the like sum.

The offence contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011, and could attract life imprisonment. The case was adjourned till August 7 for hearing.

Barcelona Signs Suarez for €88m

The Catalan giants will imminently announce the capture of the Uruguay star after agreeing to meet the release clause inserted in the striker’s new Liverpool contract last December By Wayne Veysey.

Luis Suarez is on the brink of officially completing his sensational transfer from Liverpool to Barcelona after the terms of a deal worth just over €88 million were agreed on Wednesday night. The agreement comes after a week of negotiations between the clubs, with an announcement expected in the coming days – perhaps even within 24 hours. Barcelona have captured Suarez in a straight cash deal after agreeing to meet the release clause in the Liverpool contract he signed last December. It is believed that Suarez will undergo initial medical examinations from Barca doctors in his native Uruguay, where he has been staying following his country’s elimination from the World Cup. Officials from the Catalan club have been negotiating with their counterparts from Merseyside in the last week over the structure of payments in the deal, with Liverpool pushing for a higher initial sum. An agreement has now been reached and the final formalities will be completed before Suarez is announced as Barcelona’s marquee signing of the summer. 

The 27-year-old is currently serving a four-month ban – which runs until October 26 – for biting Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini while playing for Uruguay in his nation’s final World Cup group stage match. Under the terms of the suspension, Suarez is not allowed to train with his club or enter the confines of any stadium during his ban. Barca will partly fund the signing of the 27-year-old by selling Alexis Sanchez to Arsenal. The Chile World Cup star will move to Emirates Stadium after Arsenal agreed a package worth €40m (£31.8m) with the Spanish club. Liverpool will now look to strengthen their squad using some of the money from the Suarez deal. The Merseysiders are on the verge of completing a triple swoop for Benfica winger Lazar Markovic, Lille striker Divock Origi and Southampton defender Dejan Lovren.

Jonathan Nominates FRSC Leader For Minister Position

President Goodluck Jonathan today has nominated the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Marshal Mr. Osita Chidoka and Mr. Suleiman Abubakar for a ministerial position.



The Chief Executive Officer and Corps Marshal, Osita Chidoka will represent Anambra state in the Federal Executive Council and will get the position pending screening and confirmation by the Senate.

Representing Kwara state, Mr. Suleiman Abubakar will also be required to get screened and confirmation by the senate.

Corps Marshal Osita Chidoka got his position after replacing the retired Major Gen (rtd) Halidu Hananiya.

He has earned an award of the FCT NYSC Honours award for wonderful Service, he also has received a
commendation letter from the Pope and also participated actively in the review of the Abuja Masterplan.

How Prophet, Pregnant Woman, Their Spouses Die Mysteriously In Lagos

On Saturday, June 28. Superior Evangelist Isaiah Adebola and his wife Deborah had already gone to bed after the day’s itinerary when suddenly they heard a knock at the door of their makeshift apartment located within their temporary church premises.

The cleric who was just recovering from an undisclosed ailment managed to open the door only to see his brother in-law, simply identified as Femi aka One-man Mopol. Femi, according to Evangelist Adebola’s son, who was a landlord in the neighbourhood.

The visibly agitated Femi was alleged to have beckoned on the cleric to come and pray for his pregnant wife who had some health complications after dinner.

In a jiffy, the cleric and his wife allegedly followed their visitor to his house and that was the last time they were seen alive.

A search for Superior Evangelist Adebola who was the Shepherd of Celestial Church of Christ, Gethsemane parish, Ofin in Igbogbo-Bayeku Local Council Development Area, was allegedly called by the Community Development Association, CDA in the neighbourhood. The Celestial church also raised a team of prayer warriors to unravel the mystery surrounding the disappearance of the cleric and his wife who was a commercial try-cyclist driver in the locality.

A member of the church told Vanguard Metro, VM that while the search parties and prayer sessions were still ongoing, neighbours started perceiving an offensive odour and swarm of flies around the One-man Mopol’s house.

A member of the CDA who pleaded anonymity told VM that One- man Mopol who worked with a private company in Lagos, had been absent from his place of work for days, prompting his colleagues to also raise a search party to locate his where-about. Their efforts proved futile until they visited the Ofin community. Calls put on his cell phone and that of his wife were not picked. The putrefying odour and swarm of flies within One-man Mopol’s residence, heightened their anxiety and suspicion. The CDA which was also involved in the search, brought in local security.

Eyewitnesses told VM that the said building was locked from within, thereby preventing people from gaining access into the house. After failed efforts to gain entry into the house, the local security organisation in Ikorodu which was invited by the CDA, climbed the roof of the building through a pidgeon hole.

To their greatest disbelief, they found the remains of the cleric and his wife as well as that of One-man Moplol and his wife. Two of the corpses were allegedly lying in the pool of their own blood while foam was oozing out from One-man Mopol’s mouth. His deceased wife was said be having a mould of food on her hand. This discovery led to the invitation of the men of the Nigeria Police.

VM learnt that it took a while before the corpses were removed from the scene of the crime and taken to the morgue for autopsy.

A resident who pleaded anonymity said One- man Mopol” had a queer character. He was alleged to have divorced his first wife who gave birth to five children for him. One-man Mopol was described as a bully.

When VM visited the Celestial Church in Ofin community last Sunday, a guest speaker was on hand to conduct the service with only three other worshipers. The five children of the deceased could not be located as relations had taken them away.

Two members of the church who simply gave their names as Alfa and Segun, said the cleric was murdered at a time they needed him most.

Some residents told VM the disaster was facilitated by the noise from generating sets.

‘’There is no way all of them would have died without the cry for help but the sound of the generators made it impossible for their distress calls to be heard,” one of them said. Meanwhile, a source in CCC, said plans are in top gear to retrieve the corpses from the Corona Court for interment.
