I Contemplated Having Abortion – Ghanaian actress
When actress, Luckie Lawson, got pregnant for the first time, she found herself in a serious quandary.
She had to decide whether to carry the
baby to term or get rid of the pregnancy and pursue her dream career.
“It was not an easy decision for me because
my acting career had just started. I had shot my first movie which was
out and I had Nigerian producers calling me for movie roles.
“At that point, I was confused and disturbed and wished for two things to happen. Either the ground open up for me to enter or someone tap my shoulders and tell me it was a dream”, she told Showbiz.
“I knew that having a child at that time was not the best decision for me to take. I was not mentally ready and opportunities in acting had just begun opening up for me. Yet, I braved it and decided to have the baby because I did not believe in abortion. I do not know how to create a life so I would not waste one”, she said.
“I had toiled and gone through a lot before having my breakthrough in my first movie and I felt that at long last, God had answered my prayer and I was about enjoying the fruits of my labour. So when I got to know I was pregnant, I got angry and hated myself for not protecting myself.
“I called my man and spoke my mind blaming him for everything. I got so furious and told him that I was not ready for motherhood but he asked me to wait for some weeks. After a few days, I began playing with my tummy and the feeling was great so I decided to keep it.” she said.
Even though Luckie’s friends were in support
of her keeping the pregnancy and promised to give her all the support
she needed, she said she was worried about the status of her mother in
church.
“My mom is an elder in the church and a role model to the youth. She always preached about chastity so her daughter doing the opposite to the extent of getting pregnant out of wedlock got her angry and disappointed.
“She lost her trust in me but as time went on, she grew to love me and accepted the pregnancy especially when she realised that the man responsible was ever ready to take up responsibilities as a father and a husband”, she said.
“My decision to keep the child and seeing him grow tells me that, it is one of the best decision I have ever taken and I have no regret at all looking at how being a family woman has helped shaped my life”.
Luckie Lawson started as an actress but has moved on to become a producer with two movies to her credit.
Her first movie was Silence Is Golden which
featured Ramsey Nuoah and Chika Ike, while the second was Familiar
Strangers which starred Prince David Osei, Roselyn Ngissah, John Dumelo
and Nana Ama McBrown.
She is the winner of the maiden edition of the Spirited Actor reality show which was partly organised in the USA.
Some of the movies she has featured in are,
College Girls, Efia and Friends, Royal Palace,The King Is Mine, Frozen
Emotion and I Sing of a Well.
419 Suspects Caught With Human Skull, Dollars Confess To Crime
Two suspected fraudsters who specialize in
Advanced Fee Fraud (commonly known as 419) have been arrested by the
police in Lagos with a human skull and a large quantity of US dollars.
Rabiu and Pascal holding the skull
The suspects named Waliu Rabiu, a native of Ikire in Osun State and Abba Pascal, a native of Ebonyi State, were arrested last weekend by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Lagos State Police Command, led by Abba Kyari, a Superintendent of Police, Daily Independent reports.
Rabiu and Pascal who belong to a six-man gang were arrested after one of their victims, one Chidi Ebere, an electrical part dealer at Oshodi who was duped of N1 million, reported them to the police.
A human skull and large quantity of US dollars were recovered at the gang’s hideout, after a search conducted on the premises.
Confessing to the crime, Rabiu, a former barber, who is married with a child, and wife who is pregnant, said it was hardship that pushed him into crime, adding that when he was introduced to the gang, he was told that he’d be selling Azonto herbal drinks.
"I was arrested because I was involved in 419 business. It is the person who owns the herbal business that is the 419 leader. The owner is dead but his brother Taofeek took over the business and 419. My job is to wait for victims and usher them in from the gate. I was never involved in negotiation so whatever the victims pay, I would not know, only that when I am going for the day, I usually receive between N4,000 and N10,000 from the leader," Rabiu said.
He denied knowing anything about the human skull, saying he has never seen it since he joined the gang because their leaders had a lot of secret.
He explained, "It’s not every part of the building we were allowed to enter and it was discovered in the ceiling."
Pascal who also denied having knowledge of the human skull said he gets between N5,000, N7,000, N3,000 and N10,000 at the close of work.

Breaking: Onazi Speaks On His Injury From Hospital Bed
Nigeria’s midfielder, Ogenyi Onazi has spoken on Super Eagles exit from the ongoing 2014 FIFA World Cup holding in Brazil.
The Nigerian team were defeated 0-2 by the Les Blues of France on Monday’s night with the two goals coming in the second half of the round of the 16 tie.
A header from Paul Pogba of Juventus and an own goal by Joseph Yobo secured a quarter final berth for the French team who had to dig deep for the victory.
Nigeria’s Ogenyi Onazi
The Lazio of Italy player had to be withdrawn against France just before an hour after a horror tackle from Blaise Matuidi left him in a heap during the second half of the match.
Speaking for the first time after the injury, Onazi went on his official handle shortly after Nigeria’s ouster to congratulate the effort of his colleagues and thanked Nigerians for their prayers on his injury.
He also posted a photograph of his injured leg in Plaster of Paris, POP.
Injured leg of Onazi
Meanwhile, France midfielder Blaise Matuidi has expressed his "disappointment" with his tackle that forced Onazi off during the match.
The Paris Saint-Germain midfielder challenged the Lazio player in the centre of the field but was late to the ball and caught Onazi on the ankle – a blow that ended the 21-year-old’s involvement and left Nigeria boss Stephen Keshi fuming.
Matuidi, who was only shown a yellow card for the tackle, has confessed that the challenge was a poor one but has protested that there was no intent to injure the Super Eagles man.
"I’m sorry," he told the media after the game. "I’ve not gone in to hurt him; I’m disappointed because I’m not a dirty player.
"I went into the Nigerian dressing room afterwards to apologise," the Toulouse player said.
Following the defeat suffered by the Nigerian team, captain of the team, Yobo has announced that he has ended his international career in the Super Eagles after 100 caps.
Coach Keshi is also reported to be considering his future with the African champions after leading the Eagles to glory at the 2013 Nations Cup in South Africa. Goal keeper Vincent Enyeama is also said to be planning to quit after 12 years in the Nigerian national team set up.

Pastor arrested over friend’s ritual murder
Late Kamilu Residence
The police in Ogun have arrested a pastor in the state over his alleged involvement in the death of his friend.
The preacher, simply identified as Abimbola, fell under suspicion for being the last person to see the deceased, 54-year-old Yusuf Kamilu, before his death.
Kamilu is said to have gone to pay Abimbola a visit but he never returned home as he was found at a roadside the next morning with his eyes and tongue removed.
Punch reports:
Our correspondent gathered that the passersby who were shocked to see Kamilu, whose eyes and tongue had been removed, reported the incident to the Ayinla Police Division and the police rushed him to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja where he eventually died on Friday, June 13.
Kamilu, who also had several lacerations on his body when he was found unconscious, had told his wife on Tuesday morning as he left their house that his pastor friend said they were both going to an important, but undisclosed place. He failed to return home by evening as he had promised.
Our correspondent learnt that Abimbola who lives in Adiyan, Ogun State, and Kamilu, a theatre practitioner, had been friends for about 15 years.
Speaking with our correspondent on Friday, Kamilu’s wife, Adijat, explained that when her husband was found half-dead the following morning, the pastor lied to them on the phone that he (pastor) traveled.
She said, “At about 10am when he left the house on Tuesday, Abimbola called him on phone, and my husband replied that he was already about leaving. He promised to come back at about 6pm.
“By 3pm that same day, I called him on phone again. He still answered me and I heard the voices of about four persons laughing in the background. He made me to know that he was still at the pastor’s place.
“Then in the evening, when he did not return as he promised, I called his phone at about 10pm, but his line was switched off. The following morning, at about 6am, two men came to our house to call me that they saw my husband at the junction. Even before leaving the house, I called the pastor’s number, and he said he would be with us in 30 minutes time, but he did not show up. Later, after I had seen Kamilu’s body, and we had rushed him to the hospital, we called him again and he said he had traveled.”
Our correspondent further learnt that Abimbola did not visit LASUTH until the evening, and when he did, he came with some friends and told the family he was rushing back somewhere.
The following day when Kamilu died in the hospital, the pastor was arrested by policemen from the Ayinla Police Division.
A police source said when Abimbola was being interrogated at the police command headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, he was said to have given contradictory answers to the police.
He said when the police went to the pastor’s residence shortly after his arrest, they discovered some fetish things in his compound. In his bedroom, the police were said to have found bathing soaps in calabashes and statutes, among others.
Our correspondent learnt that the police headquarters in Abeokuta had invited Kamilu’s family to come around on Tuesday (tomorrow).
The pastor’s wife was not available as nobody knew her whereabouts since the incident.
The Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, said, the suspect was still with the police, adding that investigations were ongoing.
The War Between Your Mind, The Reality & You.
There is
this constant war between what's on ground and what your mind is telling you.
You are inspired, especially if you manage to attend one of these new
generation churches on a regularly basis or you listen to one these
motivational speakers. You want to believe that in the future things will be
better but what you are seeing in the present is saying the opposite. How do
you deal with that?
The
reality is not your friend, that is one thing you should know before anything
else. What you should focus on is the truth. The truth about your situation.
That is what you should focus on. The reality will only tell you your
limitations and your inability to get this done and will show you the things
you need but lack, while the truth is telling you about the future, your
potential, the things your are capable of doing and having.
The
reality will only drain your energy when you focus on it, while the truth will
set you free, empower you to bring about your dreams and aspirations.
What is
the truth?
The truth
is that your are more than this, no matter how far you think have gone or how
well you think you are doing, you are more than this. You have what it takes to
achieve that dream in your heart. You possess the creative ability to start
that business, to bring that idea into reality.
You might
not have the finance, the connections and the necessary resources to startup
that idea in the reality, but if only you will embraces the truth which is:
everything you need to succeed have been made available, just believe in
yourself and push on, the doors of favour, possibilities and infinite help
shall be opened.

Bridal Parties Flash Butts in Wedding Photos: Make It Stop!
There is a disturbing new trend making its way around the wedding world.
No, not the use of golden toilets. Not unless you happen to be Kim Kardashian and Kanye West at least.
We speak, instead, of the bride and her closet friends posing for their
official wedding portrait(s) by hiking up their fancy dresses and
exposing ample parts of their rear ends.
Don't believe this is actually happening around the globe? Brace yourself for the dirty truth in the following photo gallery...
Why has this become the cool thing to do? We have no idea.
It's rebellious? It's fun? It's original?
It's really none of the above, especially when you probably just spent
thousands on the dress from which you are now diverting attention.
We can only hope this trend dies out faster than slap bracelets.

No fewer than six abandoned buildings along

suspected to be hideout for criminals dealing in human parts and other
nefarious criminal activities have been uncovered by Kwara state police
command.
Speaking during a press conference yesterday at the Police Headquarters, Ilorin, the Commissioner for Police in the state, Mr Ambrose Aisabor said the buildings were discovered on Saturday by the command’s special undercover agents, following a tip off from members of the public, Punch reports.

He said that the identified buildings had inscription of “For Sale” written all over them.
He explained that though no arrest has been made, the 85-year‑old socialite, who allegedly owns the place and suspected to be a native of Oro town in Irepodun Local Government Area of the state, was being interrogated.
Some of the items discovered in the six buildings of about 18 flats, include decomposed human parts, a decomposing headless body, decomposed human feet, snail shells, piece of cloth suspected to be used in strangulating victims, under-wears, NYSC caps, shoes, eye glasses, hand set cover, sandals, among other personal belongings.
