The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ondo State
Command (NSCDC) has arrested a pastor, Peter Etim of one of the
pentecostal churches in Ile‑Oluji area of the state for child abuse.
The pastor who hails from Akwa Ibom was paraded by the NSCDC at the
state command headquarters for inflicting serious body injuries on two
of his male children, Elijah (10) and Hope (8) said that they stole N180
and also sold some wares in his shop on credit without his permission.
As a result of the boys action he lost his temper, which led him to beating them with electric wire.
The command image maker, Mr. Kayode Balogun, speaking on the incident
advised parents and guardians to be careful about the way they treat
their children.
Balogun said children have some rights which needed to be protected under the Child Rights Act of Ondo State and the federation.
He said the suspect, with his two children, will be handed over to
Child Rights Department of the Ministry of Women Affairs, Ondo State for
prosecution in line with the Child Rights Act of the state after
concluding investigation.
The life of a 28-year-old tricycle rider, Onu Kingsley, has been cut
short after the driver of a Toyota Corolla, identified simply as
Kingsley, allegedly dragged him on the road and crashed his body against
a hurdle. The incident happened on the Apapa Road, Ebute Meta area of
Lagos State on Saturday evening.
PUNCH Metro
reports that Onu, an indigene of Enugu State, had alighted from his
tricycle, popularly called, Keke NAPEP, to complain that Kingsley hit
his tricycle and injured one of his passengers.
The driver reportedly ignored the deceased and made to drive off
when Onu pulled him by the shirt in a bid to stop him from escaping. The
suspect wound up his window glass with the deceased’s hand stuck, and
raced down the Apapa Road, dragging him on the road in the process.
A friend of the deceased, Emmanuel Esan, who spoke to Punch said they lived in the same room on Ilaje Street. He said:
“We were together in the room that evening because we lived together. He
did not plan to go out that day, but because there was no electricity,
he decided to go out and make some money. I suddenly woke up around 12 midnight and
didn’t see him by my side. I decided to call his telephone line, but
the person who picked it said the owner of the phone had been injured in
an accident and was at the police station.”
He said he never knew his friend had died until someone broke the news
to him while he was heading for the Iponri Police Station. Esan lamented
that Onu might not have died if he had been helped to the hospital on
time.
“I learnt he was on the accident spot for over two hours before the
police arrived and took them to the station. He was asked to make
statements, together with the driver. It was on the way to the hospital
that he died,” he added
He said Onu had only recently bought an application form to run a part
time academic programme at the Yaba College of Technology, when fate
struck.
Uncle to the deceased, Mike Onu, said he brought him to Lagos 15 years
ago. He described him as a quiet, humble and hardworking boy, adding
that the incident was unfortunate.
“He was working hard for his future when the incident happened. He has
just two brothers; one is in Sokoto, while the second is in Enugu. Since
he died, his body has been lying there at the Mainland General Hospital
mortuary. We have been waiting to hear from the family of the suspect,
but none of them has shown up. We believe the police will help us handle
the situation,” he added.
A family friend, Spurgeon Ataene, asked the police authorities to give the deceased justice. The legal practitioner said:
“The circumstances under which a case can be regarded as a fatal motor
accident are clearly distinct from that of a case of murder. Murder is
with intent to kill ab initio. Here, the suspect was not even provoked.
He was the one who hit the passengers and was being confronted. He still
sped off, brushing Onu’s body on the concrete tars, peeling off his
flesh in the process and turning his body to piles of meat. This is a
clear case of murder and should be transferred to the State Criminal
Investigation Department.”
The Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, Ngozi Braide,
could not be reached on the telephone. Punch reports that a text message
sent to her phone had also yet to be replied as of the time of filing
this report.
Beverly Osu may have a perfect body, but that's
not what's most important to her as she stuns on the new cover of House
of Maliq's June 2014 issue and opened up about being single says "the
hardest
and loneliest thing for her is controlling her emotions" .
The former BBA housemate, actress, video vixen and
entrepreneur, Beverly looks hotter than ever! The stunning beauty shows off her
flawless physique in images shot by Aham Ibeleme.
This time, she was
looking chic in curly blonde from Sylvia's hair collection, makeup by Omaleecha
makeovers , she also wore a black HOS body suit.
And there you have it. The first draw of the 2014 World Cup. It was not very exciting.
The
result especially stings Nigerians, who has visions of moving through
to the knockout stage. That chance is still very much in play, but now
they'll almost certainly have to beat Bosnia-Herzegovina. Chances are
they aren't taking down Argentina.
It seemed for all the world
that Nigeria would get a goal across early, as they constantly pressured
the Iranian defense. But some bad luck and then overall poor play kept
them from scoring, and, frankly, they were lucky to get out with a
point.
************ 90' -- A late chance for Nigeria that's, you guessed it, cleared harmlessly. Another good chance headed out by Iran at the net. 86' -- The last five minutes have been mostly poorly-executed longballs and clearances. Just wanted to let you know I'm still here. 81' -- Meanwhile, here's a moving picture of everyone watching:
77' -- Iran
with a decent chance, again, but, again, the header comes off with a
whimper. It will be a miracle if someone scores in this game. 75' -- Hey!
A booking! Iran's Andranik Timotian earns a yellow card. Nigeria gets a
shot off after the free kick, but nothing of consequence. A draw is a
loss for the Nigerians, and they're nearly out of time. 67' -- Iran gets a decent chance at the top of the box, but the volley sails waaaay too high. 65' -- Nigeria give-away then Iran give-away then Nigeria give-away leads to Iran corner, which is poor. 63' -- Iran's Reza gives it a go from distance -- why not? -- though it bounds harmlessly away. 58' -- Nigeria gets another chance, but Emmanuel Emenike's shot sails well wide. 57' -- They're
still playing. There have been fouls and shots and stuff, but nothing
approaching a goal. Could we be heading towards the first draw of the
2014 World Cup?! 50' -- Prediction: Nigeria will continue messing around and end up losing. (I'm pretty good at predictions -- see Group G.)
Iran gets another chance but misses narrowly, then wastes a free kick. 47' -- The second half has started. A fair bit of falling and not scoring -- so it's much like the first. Halftime: Sometimes when a game is expected to be bad or boring or poorly-played it ends up being so wacky it's fun.
That is not happening in the Nigeria-Iran game.
The
Nigerians have dominated possession but can't find the net, while Iran
has struggled to control the ball but have had some decent chances.
Regardless, it has been rough.
Nigeria, who figures to move on,
will be in terrible trouble if they end this game in a draw. But they
keep seeing chances wasted; must be frustrating. 40' -- Nigeria has fired a couple of shots in the last few minutes. Neither particularly threatening. 34' -- Wow. Iran almost drives in a header off a corner. They've not had the ball much, but Iran has had a couple decent chances around the net. 32' -- Nigeria earns a free kick then a corner, but nothin' doin'. The corner was awful, in fact, sailing untouched out of bounds. 27' -- Nigeria has had possession 70 percent of the half. Just felt like sharing. 23' -- Surprisingly, Iran kinda generated a chance. They didn't manage a shot, but still! 21' -- Godfrey Aboabona carried off. Apparently an ankle injury. 18' -- Efe
Ambrose sends a decent cross in that's caught by the keeper. Still no
score, though the action has been almost entirely composed of Nigeria's
attack. 16' -- Hats off to Iran. It's a minor miracle the Nigerians haven't scored yet. But it's coming. 9' -- It is target practice for the Nigerians. Somehow the miss two terrific chances in front of the net. 8' -- A great chance for Nigeria off the corner, but...something happened that drew the referee's whistle. 4' -- Nigeria with an early chance as Victor Moses turns and fires, but nothing doing. Not a bad look, though. 3' -- Important update from a colleague: 1' -- And
we're underway. Iran opens with possession and immediately mashes it
back to the Nigeria keeper. So now the Iran side is where its
comfortable -- on defense.
But the American Idol judge proved over the weekend that she can also
sizzle with very little on... her face, that is. Sorry for the tease,
fellas.
Via a pair of Instagram selfies yesterday, the singer lounged by the
pool for "no makeup day," captioning one of the following shots with:
"#realface #trueselfie #iwokeuplikethis."
You tell us, ladies: Do you appreciate J. Lo showing off her all-natural look?
Or do you sort of hate her for still looking so gosh darn beautiful?
Lopez has been all over the news lately.
Amidst cheating rumors (on his end), she split a few weeks ago from Casper Smart, while she then cracked out funny bone in half by dancing around in tight pants (and a wig!) on an appearance with Jimmy Fallon.
With these pictures, meanwhile, Lopez becomes just the latest female beauty to reveal her no makeup face online:
Fans took to Twitter on June 16 to celebrate what would have been the
43rd birthday of Tupac Shakur, who was shot and killed in Las Vegas in
1996.
To this day, his murder remains unsolved - for good reason, according to Suge Knight and others who claim Tupac is alive - but his legacy lives on.
Tupac's music and life continue to inspire the masses and he has become
something of a legend in spite of - or perhaps because of - his
premature death.
Born June 16, 1971, in East Harlem, 2Pac was also a poet and an actor, a
man of surprising depth and talent who transcended popular culture.
He's gone but not forgotten ... save for the occasional Tupac hologram performing at Coachella or Broadway show (Holler If Ya Hear Me) based on him.
A biopic by filmmaker John Singleton is also in the works, which should
be awesome for the West Coast hip hop pioneer (of East Coast origins).
Music lovers are paying tribute to Tupac on Twitter today with the
hashtag #HappyBirthdayTupac. We wish his family and friends the very
best.
Here's a look at other rappers who rank among the smartest in the game:
Drake was 2013's most Tweeted about rapper. He definitely knows a thing
or two about social media, and the personal stories behind his songs
have made him immensely popular.
Beyonce's Blue Ivy Carter photos
may be some of the most adorable things we've seen in years, but if
recent rumors are to be believed, Baby Blue may soon have some cuteness
competition.
The latest issue of Life & Style claims that Beyonce is not only pregnant, but pregnant and betrayed, as a result of allegations that Jay Z is cheating with Casey Cohen.
The tabloid doesn't have the greatest reputation for honesty and
accuracy, but given that Queen Bey has openly discussed her desire for a
second child in recent months, another pregnancy certainly wouldn't
come as a shock.
"Sources" tell the magazine that Beyonce had planned to divorce Jay but
changed her mind after finding out that she's expecting.
"Beyonce knows everything about what's going on with Jay Z and other
women," claims one insider. "Solange is pushing Beyonce to get
divorced."
Frankly, we don't think Bey seems like the type to stick with a cheater
just for the sake of her kids or her public image. After all this is
the independent woman who inspired the most important work of feminist
art in recent memory...the Beyoncelogues:
She undoubtedly look great for her age – but
not this great. Maria Carey was left red-faced on Friday after she was
busted posting a photograph from 1997 to her Twitter followers
alongside a message that she was spending time with ‘dembabies’. The
happy snap shows Mariah, who celebrated her 44th birthday in March,
relaxing in a white vest top, her tanned skin on display.
‘Quality time with #dembabies…so much happiness!!’, she wrote.
Rewind seventeen years, and that same
youthful picture of Mariah was broadcast on an episode of The Oprah
Winfrey Show, when Mariah was just 27.
Buzzfeed called out the Hero songstress when they spotted the similarity.
‘That first photo of Mariah looks pretty
familiar,’ the website wrote. ‘Oh, that’s ‘cause it appeared in a 1997
episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show.’
And here’s one you may have seen earlier: The original 1997 picture was first shown on an episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show
This is one way to celebrate your team winning a match at the World Cup…
Chilean porn star Marlen Doll has hit the international headlines for
her interesting choice of celebrations after Chile beat Australia in
their opening game at the World Cup.
Before the match with the Socceroos, Marlen Doll took to Twitter to
announce that she’d be available for an eight hour sex marathon should
Chile get the three points against the Aussies.
After the 3-1 win, Marlen Doll held up her end of bargain, whilst
actually extending her sex marathon to a full half-day 12 hours session.

relationship withdrawal this weekend. The beautiful actress earlier today dishing out advice and
encouragement to her fellow ‘single ladies’ out there on her twitter handle. Yvonne went on to
reveal the reason why she is single or perhaps being dumbed left and
