Mama G, Aki, Mercy Aigbe, Others March For Kidnapped Schoolgirls

In a bid to add their voices to the call for the release of hundreds of schoolgirls kidnapped by Boko Haram insurgents in Chobok, Borno State, some Nollywood stars led by Patience Ozokwor, popularly called Mama G, on Thursday staged a rally in Lagos, western Nigeria.
NAN reports that the actors, which included Chinedu Ikedieze, popularly known as Aki, Ejiro Okurame, Mercy Aigbe, Femi Ogedengbe, Thelma Okaz and Tony Akposhere, marched from Allen Avenue to Alausa Secretariat soliciting for the release of the abducted school girls.
It could be recalled that the Boko Haram insurgents kidnapped no fewer than 276 schoolgirls at the Government Girls Secondary School in Chibok, Borno State on 14 April, 2014.
More than seven weeks after the terror attack, the Islamist militant group are yet to release the girls claiming they would only swap them for their members captured by the Nigerian military.
While demonstrating earlier today, the Nollywood actors said the march was their own way of celebrating the Democracy Day because they were unhappy that the kidnapped school children were still being held by the Boko Haram sect.
The actors, who marched with various placards with various inscriptions asking for the release of the girls, were addressed by the Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr Adeyemi Ikuforiji.

The speaker also assured them that government was doing its best to get the girls released, while also promising the actors that he would take their request to the government.

See The 20-Year-Old Who Did Not Grow Longer Than 30 Inches Due to Rare Condition

The-16-Year-Old-Baby

Most parents worry about the same things with their teenage children – such as good grades and staying out of trouble – but such typical concerns were not afforded for the Greenberg family of Maryland in the United States.
In 1993, they welcomed their third daughter, Brooke, into the world and were happily raising her until they realised that she had not grown in four months.
Brooke suffered from a condition so rare that doctor’s have simply named it Syndrome X because so little is known about it.
Syndrome X halts the ageing process, preventing Brooke from growing any larger than a small baby.
Throughout her life, the tiny teenager never weighed more than 17lbs or grew longer than 30 inches.
The Greenberg family struggled to get answers from the medical community – who were completely baffled by Brooke’s unusual illness.
“I do feel sad when I see kids the same age as Brooke,” said mother Melanie in tonight’s Channel 5 documentary.
“When I see where they are and what they’re doing every day.”
While Brooke defied the lifespan given to her by most experts the family consulted, she passed away last year at the age of 20.
“We just want to go on and live our lives,” adds dad Howard.
“And remember our daughter.”
Despite her sad passing, the infant’s unique DNA has potentially given Florida microbiologists a breakthrough insight into the study of Syndrome X which could allow the development of future treatment for the condition.

I’m Tired Of Keeping My ”Thing” Until After Marriage

I’m a 25 years old lady. Growing a good relationship has been a daunting challenge for me, it just won’t last. Sometimes my fellow ladies take him from me or lack of sé’x causes our separation even after letting him know from the beginning that I am totally for a no sé’x before marriage relationship. At first they would accept only to walk out when I have fallen in love.

Some of these men have been good to me but sé’x is the only barrier. Some said I’m too rigid. I have really worked on my character because at some point I thought I was lacking some good morals. My friends always advice me that sé’x keeps relationship going.

But I want to know, can’t one have a healthy relationship without sé’x?
As a vir-gin, if I desire for a man’s affection, is it wrong? I really need advice because I’m heart broken now. And I’m beginning to have a rethink on my determination to keep “my thing” until after marriage.

Emir of Uba, Alhaji Ali Ibn Ismaila Mamza

The Emir of Gwoza, Alhaji Idrissa Timta has died after an ambush by suspected gunmen.
Late Timta was waylaid together with  the emir of Uba Alhaji Ali Ibn Ismaila Mamza while on their way to Gombe today.
Competent security sources confirmed that the Gwoza emir is dead.
Some sources said he died of heart attack while fleeing into the bush after the gunmen had fired several gun shoots at their vehicle which forced it to stop.
“Already, arrangement is being made to bring his corpse to Gwoza from Shafa. His corpse was found in the bush,” a source said.
The emir of Uba, who is said to be younger had escaped while many of the people in their entourage have been reportedly abducted by the attackers.
It was gathered that most of the vehicles in the convoy have been set ablaze.

Earlier..
Latest story from Uba Emirate indicates that the emir, Alhaji Ali Ibn Ismaila Mamza has narrowly escaped.

One of his in-laws confirmed to Daily Trust that  he spoke with the emir by phone who confirmed to him that he was ok.

However, there is no certainty on the where about of Emir of Gwoza, Ahaji Idrissa Timta.

It was gathered that the two of them were in the same car when the suspected gunmen ambushed them.

“The vehicle was repeatedly shot at while the driver was making endless efforts to flee. When the vehicle could  no longer move, the two monarchs opened the doors and fled into the bush,” a palace source in Uba, said.

But a source in Gwoza said “We are yet to hear much information on the state of our emir…we are confused,” he said.

Earlier in the day ....

Two first Class monarchs in Borno State, including the Emir of Gwoza Alhaji Idrissa Timta and the Emir of Uba,  Alhaji Ali Ibn Ismaila Mamza have been kidnapped by gunmen today.

They were on their way to Gombe State for the funeral prayers of the Emir of Gombe Alhaji Usman Shehu Abubakar
A top security source in Borno State confirmed the development but asked  not to be named, pointing out that he was not the right person to make formal announcement on the issue.
Sources close to the two palaces said the monarchs were forcefully whisked away by heavily armed men who intercepted their convoy in Zur village near Shafa in Hawul local government of Borno State.
Another first class monarch, the emir of Askira, Alhaji Abdullahi Ibn Muhammadu Askirama reportedly escaped being kidnapped. He was said to be in Abuja while his representative barely passed the scene of the kidnap when the emir of Gwoza and that of Uba were intercepted.
“We are in a sober mood now in Gwoza because our royal father has been taken away by gunmen…we don’t know who they are…may be members of the Boko Haram,” Mohammed Sanusi, a source in Gwoza said.
Another source from Uba said they got confirmation from security sources that their emir was taken away.
It is not yet clear if members of  their entourage were also taken away.
“Not a single vehicle in the convoy is back…not even the policemen,” the source in Uba said.
Boko Haram insurgents have abducted 276 girls in Chibok on April 14th and only few of them returned.
Both Gwoza, Chibok and Uba are in southern Borno where the Boko Haram fighters have overrun many villages and hoisted their flags.

Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha,
The governor, who made this known on Democracy Day celebration, said the gesture was aimed at providing the dividends of democracy to the people, pointing out that the circumstance which ceded power to him in 2011 was “an unusual election in an unusual circumstance.”
According to him, Imo indigenes have been clamoring for a ‘godly’ leader that would deliver them from the ‘evil leadership’ of the past.
“I took an oath to touch the lives of the people of my state with the help of God; and I do what I do, not for monetary gains or to be re-elected. “I wish to have my name written in history as a leader who registered a great impact on the lives of the people and development” he said.
The governor while commissioning the newly-built International Conference Centre stated that national and international organisations are expected hold conferences at the centre.

Okorocha further lauded himself by saying he has transformed Okigwe and Orlu into new cities as well as built newer cities ‘to make Imo a one-city state’.
The governor noted that he was very elated by the Community Government Council (CGC), which he expressed believes that it has come to stay and commended the Eze Imo and all traditional rulers for their contributions towards his success so far.

Sale Of The L.A. Clippers For A $2 Billion

Breaking: Sale Of The L.A. Clippers Agreed For A Bid Of $2 Billion

According to ESPN, Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling has allowed his team to slip from his fingers, with a winning bid of $2 billion from an investment group led by former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer.

Sources tell ESPN that the deal will be going straight to NBA’s offices for approval with no further permission needed from Donald Sterling.

Of the three bids considered on Thursday night, Ballmer’s was by far the most substantial. The other teams of investors — one led by Tony Ressler and Bruce Karsh and the other by David Geffen — offered $1.6 billion and $1.2 billion, respectively.

The timing of the agreement is of great significance, as wife Shelley Sterling pushed to make a deal before the NBA league owners’ meeting on Tuesday, June 3, at which Commissioner Adam Silver and company were planning on terminating the Sterlings’ controlling interest in the team.

And in spite of Donald Sterling’s representatives having stated their client’s desire to hold on to the Clippers “to the bloody end,” it appears that Ballmer will be the new principal owner of the Los Angeles franchise.
Should the deal go through, the $2 billion price tag would be the second-highest amount paid for a sports franchise in North American sports, falling just behind the 2012 sale of the Los Angles Dodgers for $2.1 billion.
