4 Male University Students Arrested For Gang Rapping a Young Boy

An undergraduate of a Nigerian university is now a guest of the police after he master-minded the sexual abuse of a young boy by four other students and left him with fatal anal injuries.
According to LEADERSHIP, the leader of the group, a second-year student whose name was given as Friday Desmond, had been the lover of the victim, whose name was given simply as George.
Desmond had promised to marry George upon his graduation from the university. Their abhorring relationship had been going on smoothly, as they both found time to meet in a number of secret places of their choice.

On that fateful day, however, Desmond took four of his friends to Bwari area council where George lived with his parents and lured George to a hotel in the neighbourhood. LEADERSHIP gathered that five-some took turns to sexually abuse young George, by having anal sex with him.

When they were done, they let injured George go.
According to reports, when George got home, he discovered that he was having anal bleeding and quickly alerted his parents who tried every first aid measure to stop the bleeding to no avail. They quickly rushed George to a nearby medical centre where the health officials admitted him into the hospital’s intensive care unit.

Every attempt to stop the bleeding failed and when his distraught parents demanded to know what brought about the bleeding, he narrated his ordeal in the hands of his five assailants.

The parents immediately reported the matter to a police station in the area council and the operative swung into action, arresting Friday. LEADERSHIP learnt that the police in Bwari later transferred the case to Kubwa where Desmond is said to have remained in police custody.

When LEADERSHIP contacted the public relations officer of the FCT Police Command, Altine Daniel, she said she was not aware of the case. She, however, demanded to know the day the incident occurred so that she could enquire from the station where the incident was reported. (Agbo)

Censor Board Delays Release of “Half of a Yellow Sun” in Nigeria

The Nigeria Film and Video Censorship Board, (NFVCB), has refused certifying the widely publicized and internationally acclaimed film, Half of A Yellow Sun which has been premiered in Nigeria.

The adaptation of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s novel is being stopped from getting into the market reportedly due to parts in it that tend to whip up tribal sentiments, especially on issues that led to the Nigerian civil war. Reports say “with the Boko Haram insurgency and the Adamawa State governor’s outburst, the NFVCB is living up to its billing.”

So, right now the film promoters are making frantic efforts to remove the offensive sections and get the film approved.

We Were Attacked By Fulani Herdsmen Not Robbers-- Mamuzee Speaks Out

Three days ago, Singing duo Mamuzee twins were attacked by armed robbers on Gwagwalada road in Abuja by unknown gun men..Now, they claim the men were not robbers but Fulani herdsmen..This is what they told Daily Post

“We saw death before us, but Oluwa was involved. Incidentally,we dropped our singles, titled ‘Oluwa is involved’ that day, so I see the handiwork of God in our escape. He spared my life and that of my brothers. Our kid brother was also with us in the car, so you can imagine the tragedy that would have befallen our family. But we thank God because HE was truly involved.
I just doubt, like the ongoing investigation has shown if those attackers were just armed robbers. If they were armed robbers, they should have demanded for our phones, car, money or any other thing, but they didn’t demand for anything of such.
More below...
We were on our way from the Immigration office and when we got to that spot, some men invaded us from the bush with touch-lights like they were policemen, but frankly, they were Hausas. I can say this any time; they were actually Hausas. They asked us to stop, pointing guns at our car from all directions, and my twin brother shouted ” they are armed robbers” So, I slowed down and flashed the car headlamp. I later realized that they were up to something else when they approached us, and were not even demanding for anything. I could see that they were targeting to just shoot, so I accelerated, and in the process, they started shooting at us, but to his glory, we were very fast.
However, when we had gone a few kilometres from where the incident happened, we saw blood all over our bodies. At first, we thought we had been shot, so we were rushing to the hospital. We also informed some security men at a checkpoint close to the place, and they were heading to the place while we were rushing to the hospital.”

We thank God because when we got to the hospital,(Kelina Hospital in Gwarinpa) we were told that no bullet penetrated. Bullets only greezed my neck and that of our kid brother’s shoulder, but didn’t penetrate. We also had some bruises, but we have been treated. Right now, we are home, and we can’t stop thanking God. Our appreciation to God in our latest song appears like a premonition of the incident. We than Him.” (Agbo)

* Supervising Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike promises an end to HND/BSC dichotomy

It is not uncommon for HND holders to be discriminated against not just by private employers but also by various level of the Nigerian government.
When they are employed into government ministries, fresh HND holders are recruited to Level 7 while fresh BSc holders are recruited to Level 8.
One of the cardinal demands of the striking polytechnic lecturers is the removal of the dichotomy between the two categories of graduates.
The Minister also claimed that other demands have also been resolved and called on the chairmen of the Governing Councils of Federal Polytechnics and Federal Colleges of Education to assist the federal government by deploying their relevant skills towards resolving the lingering strike action of the lecturers.(Naij.com)
