Mob in Lagos Beats Up, almost Lynches a Mad Woman they Suspect is a Ritualist (Photo)

A woman said to be mentally-challenged escaped being lynched by an angry mob on Wednesday after she was allegedly caught with N100,000, two ATM cards, two BlackBerry phones and an android phone. Incident occurred around Onabanjo Street, Oworonshoki, Lagos State, around 10am.

A resident, James Ogunkoya, told Punch that when some youths saw the woman with some money, they trailed her into a compound. The youths, who suspected her of being a ritual killer, pounced on her and beat her to a pulp.
Ogunkoya said:

Around 10am, I saw a crowd around an unkempt woman. Some of the youths picked up
sticks and were beating the woman. When I asked what was wrong, they said they found three phones and N100,000 with the her. They said the woman was not mad, but was only pretending to be mad so that she could easily perpetrate evil acts.”
Another resident said it was N50,000 that was found with the woman. The resident, who declined to identify himself, said the youths started suspecting her when she was overheard speaking like a normal person with somebody two days ago.
“Some guys were convinced that the woman was only pretending because they overheard her talking with a man on Monday night. They also wondered where a mad woman could have found the phones,” he added.
PUNCH Metro learnt that policemen attached to the Oworonshoki Police Division were alerted by the noise of the crowd gathered at the scene. A police team was said to have rescued the woman from the mob.

When Punch's correspondent visited the station, the woman was seen lying on a bench near the counter of the station. She had a burst lip while her arms were bleeding. And a policeman, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said attempts to verify the allegations against her were fruitless.
He said:
I have been asking the woman questions all day, but she has just been incoherent. She has even refused to tell us her name. At some point, she just started crying, so I let her sleep. I don’t even know if she is a mad woman.
Also, when she was arrested and we searched her, we did not find any money, phone or ATM cards on her. Nobody has come to write any statement here at the station.”
The General Secretary, Oworonshoki Youth Forum, Babajide Kabiawu, blamed the incident on the fear in the minds of people since the arrest of ritual killers in some South-West states. He said there was a need for the government to set up a special task force at the community level.
He said:
“I do not condone people taking the laws into their hands. However, it is a reflection of the level of insecurity coupled with the discovery of the activities of ritual killers in Oyo and Ogun states. The notorious cannibal, Clifford Oji, used to parade himself as a mad man as well. We have also seen cases in our neighborhood where supposed mad people kidnapped children. We want the government to support the community in setting up a task force that will evacuate mentally-challenged people.”

'Whitney Houston Family Nick's Not Welcome Here ... For ONE FULL YEAR

0416-nick-gordon-pat-houston_whitney-getty-4Whitney Houston's sister-in-law just got a year's worth of peace of mind ... a judge has just ordered Whitney's son-in-law Nick Gordon to stay clear of her for the next year.

We broke the story ... Pat Houston got a restraining order against Nick last month ... claiming he made threatening comments against her and posted ominous photos of guns on Twitter.

Now a judge has extended the order for 12 months, so Nick can't contact Pat or anyone in her immediate family ... he comes within 200 yards -- he goes to jail.

The bad blood is long-standing.  Family members tell us Nick resents Pat because she controls the purse strings of Whitney's estate ... and he thinks his wife Bobbi Kristina got screwed on her inheritance.

We reached out for comment ... so far, no response. (TMZ)

Abuja Bomb Blast: US Forensic Experts Arrive Abuja To Help Investigation

As the death toll from the bomb blast that hit the Nyanya motor park, Abuja on Monday increases, forensic investigators from the United States of America, yesterday arrived Nigeria to join local security operatives in conducting investigations.

 photo
It was gathered that the forensic investigators are from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
When journalists visited the scene, more than 100 heavily armed security agents were seen condoning off the area. The joint team of security agents included the Department of State Service (DSS), the police, army, civil defence and Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
An unnamed army officer who confided in journalist said the forensic investigators arrived Abuja yesterday morning and were immediately conveyed to the scene of the carnage.
Few investigators from the United States arrived Abuja yesterday morning to join us in Nigeria to carry out a forensic investigation on what happened. Many of them are black, so you might not recognise them. It is a joint operation. That means all the security agencies are involved,” the army officer said.
The forensic investigators were seen picking up samples and other vital tools at the scene of the blast.
Just over the bridge, more than 500 onlookers who abandoned their work stormed the area to catch a glimpse of what the security agents were doing.

Motivational blogger Karyn Washington commits suicide, aged 22

Karyn Washington, the young beautiful lady who founded the blog For Brown Girls has committed suicide. Karyn killed herself at her home on April 8th. She was just 22.

Her friends say the popular blogger, who founded the blog three years ago to 'celebrate the beauty of dark skin while combatting colorism and promoting self love', suffered from depression and mental illness for many months before taking her life. Friends say the depression started after she lost her mum to cancer in 2013.

Karyn, who motivated thousands everyday through her blog, never shared her problems with her fans and readers, who were most shocked when news of her death hit headlines.

Blogger Ty Alexander wrote on his blog
"I wanna pout for a few minutes. I wanna bubble-snot cry. I wish someone had told Karyn Washington that she didn’t have to be strong. She didn’t have to hold the world’s glaring eyes on her shoulders. That asking for help was ok. No matter how you ask for it, it’s ok. People say all the time, You’re so strong! That’s so far from the truth. I AM WEAK!!! I think that’s what has gotten me through. I don’t judge myself for bursting into tears in the middle of a meeting. I don’t judge myself for eating the entire pint of butter pecan ice cream (although I just signed up for Crunch)! And I cannot judge myself for not being able to save Karyn."

Karyn spread words of hope to thousands of women everyday. Messages such as this one, which she shared last year while watching her mother deteriorate from cancer:

"I am empowered by other strong women and girls. Even by those who don’t necessarily know they are inspiring. Women who are doing what they can to uplift others around them and make a difference in their community motivate me to do the same. I think it is so important for women no matter what complexion, race, or religious background to be united in making sure our voices are heard — that we are being leaders and positive role models to the younger generation."
May her soul rest in peace, Amen

LADIES; 5 Things Nigerian Men Find Unattractive In You

1. Desperados!

These are the sort of girls that you find at every party, in every bar or night club. And if you’re confused; here are some pointers. They are wearing thick make up, chewing violently on fake gums and standing ALONE clutching unto their little purses! So we can already tell that they either don’t have cars or they didn’t come with anybody they could trust enough to hold their bags. Desperados don’t want to dance of course; except you have a striking age resemblance with their dads back in the village or if you’ve got a tommy to remind them of theirs’ before they got an abortion. But not dancing doesn’t mean they don’t appreciate drinks!

‘Can I buy you a drink?’ “Of course”.

And while you do; she pretends to receive a call in front of a loud speaker!

Listen I’m not saying there’s anything wrong in being bought a drink for; but women who act as though they are entitled to a man’s wallet have got to go! It’s unattractive and it’s downright classless!

2. Blackberry Beggars.

How a classy lady can turn from her ‘whatever’ attitude before you got her PIN to posting sad and teary icons on her blackberry profile, beats me. I mean come on girls; whatever happened to your pride? I know you’re broke- but must the world know? Do you have to post all your problems to the new dude?

But I trust my Naija guys to say-

‘Eeyaa! It shall be well!’

Jokes apart; one thing is certain; if he helps you with some money, he does so out of pity- which is not something you want a man dating you to feel for you. He should feel respect for you; so please respect yourselves. If a man starts giving you money immediately after meeting you, please don’t go running to your gossipy friends 6 months later to tell them how wicked men are. He’s just recouped his investment dividends for 6 months! And if you must tell them; please start such stories with how greedy you were.

3. Gbabes:

Granted that most of us want girls who have Indian blood running in their veins; but we’re not stupid enough to know that we can’t all have that. Gbabes are girls whose hairs remind me of the psychiatric hospital opposite my church!

I know you can’t all afford to wear the expensive lace wigs and Brazilian hair that Omotola or Patience Jonathan wears- but why not thank God for the Aba boys? They have made some extension braids and ‘Brazilian hair’ affordable for peanuts…

4. Unkempt Private Areas:

*Hums* “Sometimes I shave my legs sometimes I don’t’. That’s cool and all but I’m going to need you to shave under your arms and the other place (you know where.) I am not scared of using the P word but this is a family friendly website- and I’m sure you get the gist. We may be bush men here in Nigeria, but please give yourself an edge up by keeping it like a well-manicured lawn rather than like a jungle safari in the middle of Niger Delta!

5. Loud Mouths:

Some girls know all the lyrics of all the tracks in Terry G’s or Wizkid’s Album. I once danced with a girl who took me through Timaya’s discography while wearing a smile. She even knew what the upcoming tracks were! Now, don’t get me wrong. It’s all good.

But what’s not good is that the Naija guy, you’re dancing with or rapping at, has already formed an opinion of you! You’re a loudmouth in his head. And you seriously can’t fault him for this assumption.

What the average Nigerian who wants to have something serious with you- thinks about is; “what will my people say about this girl?”

Truth is; if I can’t bring you home to momma we can’t roll. I can’t stand a woman whose every word is a curse; motherf***er this, son of a —– that et cetera. Kindly have at least; an ounce of class and act like a lady not an Obalende conductor!

Peace out and love to Nigerian ladies, I think you’re all beautiful. These observations are not meant to offend any of you; but a little dose of ‘keeping it real’ is always healthy.

How The Position You Sleep In With Your Partner Reveals The Strength Of The Relationship

Are you someone who likes to cuddle up against your partner at night? Or do you tend to wake on the other side of the bed, facing the wall?. New research shows that the position in which we sleep is highly revealing about the strength of our relationships.

Partners who sleep less than an inch apart are far more likely to be happy together than those maintaining a gap wider than 30 inches, the researchers found. And couples who spend the night making physical contact are happier than those who do not touch.

Couples who lie curled up in the ‘full foetal’ position are likely to be indecisive, anxious and sensitive to criticism. Those who sleep in a ‘semi-foetal’ position, with their knees drawn up, are conciliatory, amenable to compromise, and unlikely to take extreme stances, he said.

People who sleep in the ‘royal’ position – flat on their back – tend to be confident, open, expansive, and sensation-seeking. And those who lie ‘prone’ on their face show a tendency for rigidity and perfectionism. who fall asleep touching, couples tend to be happier if they are face-to-face than if they ‘spoon’ their partners, facing the same direction, or if they face in opposite directions. Of those who do not touch, the largest number of happy couples face the same direction – above those who sleep back to back or facing each other. All these researchers and their logistics, how about our grand parents who slept on separate beds but still lasted together.
