Foluke Daramola: My Husband can Marry More than One Wife

Foluke Daramola - March 2014 - BellaNaija 02 (2)

Nollywood actress Foluke Daramola seems open to a polygamous marriage.
In an interview with Vanguard, Foluke opens up about her 1st year anniversary with Kayode Salako, how they met and what she loves about him.
When the interviewer asked about reports that he split with his first wife because of her, she gets candid.
“It’s not something I want to discuss, because my husband has told me sternly not to discuss his former marriage on the pages of newspapers. He’s capable of marrying more than one wife if he so wishes, so, I don’t see how or why he has to chase his wife out for me.
Besides, did he chase her or she left of her own volition? or then, should I say the person my ex hubby is married to chased me out of my former home as well? Well, I decided to walk out of my former matrimonial home for personal reasons.
I don’t know much about my hubby’s ex wife’s issue, he is in the best position to talk about that, though, sadists and people that are just out to look for people to join them in their misery will always want to drag my name in what’s not my business and can never be my business.
My hubby is very capable of taking care of his personal business and he is doing that to the best of my knowledge. He has a perfect relationship with his ex and his children and we have a wonderful relationship too,so people should just mind their business and leave us alone.”
 Foluke Daramola - March 2014 - BellaNaija 02 (1)
On what is different about her second marriage: “Firstly, I was very naive and immature in my first marriage. I will say, I was desperate because many of my friends were getting married then and I thought marriage was the ‘in-thing’, so, I guess I didn’t really know who and what I was going into.
But this one is based on spiritual conviction, true love, deep and mature understanding between two adults in love, ready to be together forever. We have both been married before and I guess that helped us to love and appreciate each other.”

Congrats to the couple on their 1st anniversary.

13 Lagos pupils slump after inhaling poisonous gas

Ogba Junior School

There was pandemonium at the Ogba Junior Grammar School, Lagos on Thursday when 13 pupils fell unconscious after inhaling a gaseous substance from unidentified source.
The incident was said to have occurred during the 12 noon break time. PUNCH Metro had on November 1, 2013, reported that 22 pupils of the same school fainted after inhaling a gaseous substance.
Following reports on the incident, a photo laboratory behind the school was investigated and was subsequently shut down by the Lagos State Government.
When PUNCH Metro visited the school on Thursday, it was deserted as the pupils had been sent home immediately the incident occurred.
A classroom block, which also houses the school infirmary, was said to have been most affected by the gaseous emission.
An employee of the school was seen opening windows in the infirmary to allow for proper ventilation of the room.
A security guard, who did not identify himself, said, “It happened during the break time. The wind blew the gas in the direction of the school and the students who were close by began to choke. They were immediately rushed to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, while the school was closed for the day.”
Officials of the Lagos State Safety Commission were also seen at the school conducting an on-the-spot investigation.
At the Ogba Shopping Arcade, which had been shut down because of the Thursday incident, officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency and Red Cross were seen.
Some shop owners, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, expressed displeasure at the closure of the arcade by the government.
One of them said, “When the incident occurred last year, the gaseous substance was not from the photo laboratory as it was widely reported. There are 109 shops in this arcade and 88 of them have occupants. How come the gas did not affect anyone here but affected those behind the arcade?
“Four agencies from the Lagos State Government came to seal the lab without proper investigation. Now that the incident has repeated itself, they are confused.
“They just came here around 2pm and told all of us to leave the arcade, they subsequently sealed it up. The emission is not from this place. There is no shop in the arcade presently that does anything with chemicals. We have no idea when they will reopen the arcade.”
The Lagos State Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Damasus Ozoani, said, “We are yet to ascertain the company where the emission originated from. But ongoing investigation revealed that the emission affected Ogba Junior Grammar School and about eight pupils in the school were affected. The pupils have been taken to LASUTH and they are responding to treatment.
“Meanwhile, the school has been temporarily closed and the Ogba Shopping Arcade in front of the school has equally been temporarily closed to enable LASEMA take proper assessment of what actually happened.
“The situation is under control, and no life was lost. I am assuring Lagosians that there is no cause for alarm.”
The General Manager LASEMA, Dr. Femi Oke-Osayintolu said, “We are still running gas analysis and risk assessment of the area to ascertain where the gaseous substance came from. We have cordoned off the shopping arcade in the meantime while we continue with our investigations.
“However 12 female and one male pupil were affected by the gaseous emission. They are presently responding to treatment.”

‘If Jonathan Fails In 2015, Then I’m Not Called Of God’ – Dr Chris Okafor

Dr. Chris Okafor is the General Overseer of Liberation Church. In a chat with ENCOMIUM Weekly, he opened up on his prediction about 2015 elections and sundry issues…

10 years down the line in your ministry, how has it been?

We really thank God for His mercies and faithfulness. God has been helpful to us in fulfilling the mandate that was given to us.  We are not there yet because our best is yet to come.

You have a huge congregation and several outreaches. Last year, you were in more than 11 countries to preach the word, what else do you want?

God gave us the mandate to reach one billion souls. Though looking at it, you will know it is not easy to reach one billion souls, but He said the gospel must be preached to everyone, then the end will come. According to Matthew Chapter 24 verse 14, the end is not coming right away, but the end will come. The coming of the Lord is somehow conditional because the gospel must be preached to every creation, then the end will come.  The mandate God gave to me is to reach one billion souls.Out of the one billion souls you are mandated to win for Christ, how many have you recorded so far?

By the grace of God, we have reached a lot of people. Last year, we had crusades across the country. In Enugu state, we had over 20,000 people. The same thing was repeated at Ebonyi, Abuja, and several parts of the country.  Also in Cameroun, South Africa, and America, we recorded a lot of people giving their lives to Christ. We also have our television outreaches. We have our own television, Liberation Television which reaches all African countries and about three or four countries in Europe.  We are at the edge of another platform, that is called The Sky. It reaches every part of Europe and we are also in advanced talks with Galaxy. Galaxy is another network, because the network we are now is called VSAT. The one that covers the whole of Europe is called the Sky, the one that covers the whole of America and North America is called the Galaxy. Currently, we are talking to them. Through that, we can reach the one billion souls and if possible go beyond the mandate.

Do you think that is possible because one billion souls is much, even N1 billion is huge not to talk of souls?

It is possible. Let me tell you, there are people I reach through our television programmes. It’s a 24 hour service. A lot of people are watching it and many have been delivered and healed through Liberation Television.  Barren women have conceived through Liberation TV and thousands have given their lives to Jesus through it.

Where are you coming from, sir, I mean, your spiritual journey?

I am a regular Christian from a Christian home. I was born and brought up from a Christian background, but I encountered Jesus Christ at eight. My parents are elders in the church. We are Anglicans. We are from a prayerful home. When my mom was pregnant with me, many prophets gave her prophesy that she is going to give birth to a great man of God who will be well known around the world.

Before your ministerial journey, did you work in any church, or served any man of God?

Like I have always said, I have indirectly been influenced by a lot of men of God. I was born in Benin and was privileged to be under the teaching of late Archbishop Benson Idahosa. I was greatly influenced by this great man of God and some other ministers.

Were you a member of any church before you started your ministry?

No, I was not a member of any church. As a matter of fact, we used to do fellowship and fellowship is not a church. When I came to Lagos, I never belonged to any church. We started Liberation City in one room. It was in the house of an Anglican priest, Reverend Chuks Eleaze. He was of great help to this ministry.

You talked about opposition, what has kept you going despite opposition of your own style of ministry?

It is God. If God is not on your side… I remember in the Acts of the Apostles, Chapter 5, they were prosecuting the Apostles, and there was a time they were arrested and on the verge of killing them. A man who was not a Christian said so this is what Jesus went through in the hands of the opposition. So, what keeps us going is that God is on our side. Again, if the opposition is not there we will not be on our toes. I pray 7-9 hours a day. If the opposition is not there I might not be praying so long. We might think everything is okay and probably be relaxing, the opposition is useful in so many ways. I have this understanding that the Israelites had enemies when they took them captive into Egypt. The Bible tells us the people of Egypt oppressed them so much, so Egyptians became so lazy that all the work were assigned to the Israelites, as punishment but today the best engineers around the world are from Israel. The Egyptians thought they were punishing the Israelites not knowing they were preparing them for a great future. So, your enemy can be a help in disguise, God said I will help and be with you. So if God says I will be with you, so we are not afraid. If the Lord be for you who shall be against you.

People said Dr. Chris Okafor is dashing and attractive. How do you cope with the issue of women which  we all believe is one of the factors that pulls down many men of God…

I don’t leave my house. There are several deliberate walls built around me that make it so impossible for anybody to break. You can’t find me outside. I don’t go to events, functions or social places. My movement is house to church, church to house. You can only see me at the airport when I’m travelling. I only relax at home because I must wake up every 2am to pray till 7am, so I usually sleep in the day.

Is it true that you predicted Jonathan will win the 2015 election?

God has been accurate. He is a progressive and creative God.  The Bible says every secret belongs to God, He reveals in order to redeem.  There were some prophesies that were  given during our cross over night and some are still coming. I remember vividly that God gave a revelation that the NUJ should pray against untimely death among its members and if possible they should come together to pray so that danger will be averted. But not too long, while we were praying, we heard one of their editors was killed. There was a  prophesy about plane crash and few weeks ago, a plane crash was averted through prayer. I am not a prophet of doom. Do I prophesy evil? No! God reveals to redeem. But what is the essence of revealing it and not being heard? God spoke to me exclusively that the current president, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan will be Nigeria’s president after 2015 general elections. There will be a lot of battle. There will be a lot of betrayals. There will be a lot of court cases concerning his election but at the end of the day, he will still remain the president because God showed me specifically that he has been ordained to run for two terms. God has already declared it to me. Mark what I said!  If it does not come to pass, know I’m not called of God. In the second term of President Goodluck Jonathan there will be a lot of transformation, despite battles from the opposition. Then after Jonathan’s second term, the APC will take over.

When did you start two Sunday services and what is the reason?

We started in February 2014. Liberation City began two Sunday services because of space. We took these steps to curtail the overflow in the street. So, we carefully enquired from the Lord and we came to the conclusion that we should begin two services, so the first service starts by 6.45-10.30am while the second starts by 11am -1pm.

Meet The Boy Who Had Sex With His Girlfriend’s Dog

he teenage factory worker, Wayne Bryson who filmed himself having sex with his girlfriend's dog earlier this year at Lincolnshire , has been disowned by his family, dumped by his girlfriend, given a four month prison sentence, suspended for two years and told he must never be alone with an animal ever again!
According to the verdict dished from the Skegness Magistrates' Court yesterday, Wayne will have to sign the Sex Offenders' Register for seven years, was given a supervision order and was ordered to pay an £80 victim surcharge.
Bryson landed in court when his girlfriend Amber Hickling, 18, looked through his phone for pictures of their child. She spotted the footage which showed the dog "shaking in a backwards and forwards motion" and handed it to the police in January.
Wayne was spared jail after admitting to engaging in an act of sexual penetration with Rudy, a four-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Meanwhile, prosecutor Paul Woods told the Court: "[Miss Hickling] could see a man's penis going in and out of the animal.
The clip was about 30 seconds long." Byrson described it as "30 seconds of madness." The court heard that Bryson did not ejaculate and he did not send the video round.
When he was sentenced a man in the public gallery shouted: "He is a beast, a dog has got no voice."
"When I found the video I felt sick," Byson's girlfriend said. "I was shaking and crying. I just couldn't believe it. I would have been surprised to catch him cheating, but to catch him shagging my dog was wrong on a different level."
Neighbours of Bryson also expressed their disgust at his crime. Zoe Wilson-Hall, said: "It's sick - that is the best way of putting it.

8 Health Tips for Managing HIV

Living with HIV requires taking care of yourself and taking extra precautions to ensure your health, such as preventing STDs and other infections. Learn how to practice a healthy lifestyle to better manage HIV.

 health tips for managing hiv

When you’re living with HIV, it’s more important than ever to protect your immune system to maintain overall health. By keeping your body as healthy as possible, it’s much better equipped to fight off viruses and other types of infections, says Kristin Englund, MD, associate staff member of the department of infectious disease at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio.
People living with HIV need to incorporate healthy habits into their lifestyle. Follow these eight tips for healthy living with HIV:
1. Practice safe sex. This is paramount on the list. Says Dr. Englund, "Practicing safe sex is essential.” Understand how the virus is transmitted to reduce the risk of infecting others. Use condoms not only to avoid the spread of HIV, but also to protect both you and your partner against other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and other types of infections.
2. Get tested for other STDs. If you have another STD, also known as sexually transmitted infections, or STIs, you may be more likely to transmit both HIV and your other STD to someone else. STDs can also worsen HIV and make the disease progress more rapidly. And HIV can make STDs more difficult to treat, so you’ll want to address an STD as soon as possible. Getting tested is a must because many STDs don't cause any symptoms — without testing, you may not even realize you have one.
3. Prevent infections and illnesses. Since HIV makes your immune system less effective, you become more susceptible to every virus, bacteria, and germ you're exposed to. Wash your hands frequently, and stay away from sick people to stay as healthy as possible. Also stay up-to-date on all of your vaccinations to reduce your risk of preventable illnesses.
4. Follow doctor's orders about your prescriptions. It's crucial to take your HIV medication exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Skipping even one day of medication can give the virus an opportunity to become resistant to the drugs, making them ineffective against the virus, says Englund. Be sure to take prescriptions at the same time every day, and always have your medication with you so that if you are away from home, you won’t have to miss a dose.
5. Don't abuse drugs or alcohol. Alcohol and drug overuse can contribute to feelings of depression. Avoid illegal drugs and take prescription drugs as directed by your doctor to help protect your immune system. Avoiding drug abuse can also help to prevent cognitive (thinking and reasoning) impairment, which is important in minimizing HIV-related dementia.
6. Quit smoking. Giving up cigarettes is beneficial for anyone. Stopping all tobacco use will help you live healthier and feel better, according to Englund, as well as prevent a number of health problems and reduce your risk of serious events like heart attack and stroke.
7. Manage physical and emotional health problems. Depression is common among people with HIV, and the stress associated with having HIV can worsen depression symptoms. What’s more, both stress and depression can worsen physical pain associated with HIV. Keeping stress, depression, and pain under control can help improve your physical and emotional health, making life with HIV easier. See a mental health professional if you feel you’re experiencing depression, and be sure to mention that you’re taking medication for HIV to avoid potential drug interactions between depression and HIV medicines.
8. Exercise mind and body. Physical and mental exercise can keep your mind and body strong. Regular physical exercise, such as walking, biking, running, swimming, or another activity you enjoy, keeps you physically fit and can keep both stress and depression in check. Physical exercise significantly helps the immune system as well. Mental exercise — doing a daily crossword puzzle or playing brain-challenging games — can help maintain your cognitive health. Exercise your memory, concentration, and attention, all of which can be affected by HIV.
The keys to staying healthy with HIV are within your control. Live a healthy lifestyle. Fuel your body with a healthy, nutritious, and balanced diet, and allow it to recharge each night with enough quality sleep. Treat your body well to strengthen it, so that it can defend against illnesses that could threaten your health.

Obesere rape saga: Case transferred to SCID:

LAGOS — There were indications, yesterday, that the case involving popular Fuji musician, Alhaji Abass Akande, also known as Obesere, arrested for allegedly raping a 29-year-old business woman, Miss Olanike Olaiya, in his Okota residence may have been  transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID.  Sources told Vanguard, yesterday, that the embattled musician preferred the SCID to the  Isolo Police division because the DPO had insisted on the matter going to court.  Normally, it is  the Divisional Police Officer at Isolo Division, Aminu Ibrahim, that should have ordered the transfer of the case to SCID for further investigations.  But Obesere was alleged to have used his contacts in the police to have the case transferred to SCID.

*Obesere
                                       Obesere
A police source also disclosed that Obesere found it difficult to pressurize the DPO at Isolo into striking out the matter or persuade the victim to accept a settlement.  The source, who craved anonymity, also said Obesere contacted some top citizens to wade into the matter by persuading the DPO to soft-pedal on the  matter but they backed down when they discovered that the police have incriminating evidence against the musician.  Victim relocates to Sagamu for treatment  Meantime, the victim, Olaiya, told Vanguard yesterday that she had relocated to her home town, Sagamu in Ogun State, where she is currently receiving treatment for the rape incident.  Olaiya, who spoke with Vanguard on the telephone, said: “As I speak with you, I am in Sagamu, my home town, where I have been  receiving traditional treatment since the incident occurred.  I bled for more than two weeks —Victim  “I bled for more than two weeks after Alhaji Obesere raped me and inserted his ring into my private part. The incident occurred on February 12, 2013 and I have spent a lot of money treating myself.  “The DPO, Isolo Police division, took pity on me and refused to give in to Obesere’s pressure to  strike out the case and God will bless him for that.  “But last week I was informed that the case had been transferred to the SCID and my Investigating Police Office, IPO, at Isolo asked me to come to the station on Tuesday for the transfer.  “But when I got to the SCID, I discovered the IPO, who took over the case, one Mr. Jacob, I don’t know his rank, became hostile to me.  “You need to see how this man treated me. He started by asking me to write a new statement and when I tried to explain that I had written a statement at Isolo division, he rebuffed my explanation and insisted I wrote a new one.  They threatened to kill me  “Afterwards, they started threatening me. The IPO, Alhaji Obesere, and some of his brothers, who were present there, asked me to stop the journalists from publishing my story and if I don’t, I will be a dead person.  “I was so frightened when they said this and each time my phone rang someone would pick it up to know who was calling.  “Later, they discovered  I wasn’t going to break, then they started begging me and promised to take care of me. Alhaji Obesere even said he was going to take me to the best hospital for treatment.  “At the end, I rose to leave and they offered to drop me in my place. The IPO also insisted that I should follow them. Instead of taking me to my area, they took me to Obesere’s house and the woman who introduced me to him was also there.  “While I was with them I alerted the police at Isolo and told them where I was.  “But yesterday, they called after they saw the publication and started threatening again to kill me.  “I am highly terrified, that was why I travelled back  to my home to get some treatment.”
