Pres. Jonathan to launch second Niger Bridge

river-niger
President Goodluck Jonathan said on Tuesday in Abuja that he would do the “real ground-breaking” ceremony for the second Niger Bridge in Anambra on March 10. The president said this on Tuesday when he received a delegation of Anambra people led by Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Achebe, and Gov. Peter Obi. The delegation, which also included the governor-elect of the state, Willie Obiano, was on a thank-you and solidarity visit to the president. Jonathan said that the launch of the construction work on the bridge was in keeping with his promise to the people of Anambra, He explained that he could have launched the project long ago with fanfare but government must show commitment to its execution. He said that with proper planning and funding now put in place, he was ready to start the project in earnest. “The Minister of Works has briefed me that they have done a lot of mobilisation; we are coming to do real ground breaking ceremony of the second Niger Bridge and other projects,” he said. It will be recalled that the president had, during a recent visit to the state, pledged to launch the construction of the bridge before Obi leaves office on March 17. He commended Obi for maintaining a cordial relationship with the Federal Government. He also used the opportunity to admonish other elected officials and politicians to focus on developing their states rather than make a past-time of attacking and abusing the president. “A number of politicians feel that the best thing to do is to be abusing Mr. President, abusing the Federal Government and so on. “You are elected to develop your state and I think the best thing is to have good relationship with the centre; whether you have a pin or you do not have but one day it will come. “Wearing boxing gloves, jumping into the boxing ring to face Mr. President does not help the development of any state.” The president specifically commended Obi for his people-oriented programmes and for managing an opposition-controlled state assembly without a crisis. He pledged to give his successor, Willie Obiano, equal support to help him succeed. The president also promised to retain Obi in the Federal Government’s Economic Management Team even after he leaves office as state governor. Earlier, Obi had said that it would be difficult for a state governor to make meaningful impact without the support of the Federal Government. He specifically thanked the president for the support given to his state. “I have been governor under three presidents and I know the difference. “Anambra state is your home and we are committed to supporting you and your government,” he said.

Mugabe backs Uganda’s anti-gay law

Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe. Picture: REUTERS

Robert Mugabe has thrown his weight behind Uganda’s draconian anti-gay laws and hinted at a crackdown on gays in his own country, state media reported on Monday.
He castigated the West for punishing Kampala with aid cuts after President Yoweri Museveni signed into law a bill that banned homosexuality in the East African country.
"They (the West) want to tell us ... that it’s a violation of human rights, that is what they are doing to Museveni right now," Mr Mugabe said.
"The human right you have as a man is to marry another woman, not to get another man to marry, we refuse that," he said at a weekend wedding reception of his only daughter Bona.
Mr Mugabe has previously said homosexuality is un-African and described gays and lesbians as worse than pigs and dogs.
"It’s a terrible world we are in, a terrible world where people want to do things that they feel will enhance their own interests," he said.
The president also said that until recently he had not been aware of the existence of an association of gay and lesbian people in Zimbabwe, and warned he would want to know who belonged to the group.
"I understand we have a group of homosexuals in this country," he said. "I didn’t know until I was told the day before yesterday. So we want to check on who is in that group."
The group, which calls itself Gays and Lesbians of Zimbabwe, has long operated in the country despite Mr Mugabe’s ranting against homosexuality. Police have on several occasions raided the group’s offices, and prosecutors had laid charges against it, accusing it of operating as an unregistered organisation. However, a magistrate dismissed the case last week.
Same-sex marriages outlawed in Zimbabwe.
In Uganda, the World Bank last week stalled a $90m loan planned to help the country strengthen its healthcare system. The bank’s move followed action by Denmark, the Netherlands and Norway to freeze or change aid programmes for Uganda, and blunt criticism from the US and Sweden.
Mr Museveni signed a bill into law that holds that "repeat homosexuals" should be jailed for life, outlaws the promotion of homosexuality and requires people to report on homosexuals.

Nollywood Super Actor Chidi Mokeme Opens Up "Why I don't live with my wife"

Despite getting married on April 28, 2012 , Chidi Mokeme and his US based doctor wife haven't been spotted together..Here is what he told Yes magazine ..

"Well, when I met my wife, this was our default setting. Let me put it like that. Our default setting was that I live in Nigeria and my wife lives in America and then we started a relationship and decided to take the relationship further and decided we were gonna be man and wife. So, having taken that decision and having crossed that level, the next thing is to find a way to ease into a location. Everybody knows that you don’t just pack your bag and move in one day. There are things that need to be sorted, relocation needs to be sorted. So, we are taking our time with it. But then again, by virtue of my job, I have a pretty much very flexible timing. I own my time, I decide when to work, when not to work. So, really, I can be with my wife anytime, every time I so desire and it makes it easy. If I work 9-5, then we will always have to wait for when someone was on leave the whole year round, if I want, just to be with my wife.

50 Cent majorly pushed the envelope yesterday in his beef with three other powerful rap figures, then beat a hasty retreat after apparently getting cold feet.  On Instagram, he publicly insinuated that Diddy, Rick Ross and former record executive Steve Stoute are gay together ... only to delete the pics within minutes.  Afraid of a little retribution, Fiddy? We can't imagine why for the life of us ...

Mr. Cent's two photos featured a pink-shirted Stoute embracing a pink-shirted Diddy, then Diddy and Rick Ross embracing from an angle that suggests kissing.
50 wrote in his caption, "I ain't saying nothing, but something ain't right. Lmao."
The something that wasn't right? His stomach after he posted this. LMAO!
Stoute recently appeared in a VH1 documentary about hip hop, in which he called 50 a has-been, while Cent has feuded with Rick Ross and Diddy for years.
Fiddy implied that Rick Ross staged a drive-by attempt on his own life, and has never had love for Diddy, dating back to when his name still had a P in front of it.
So far, no word from the aforementioned, non-gay hip hop trio.

I don’t believe in gender equality – Omotola Jalade Ekeinde:

When asked in a recent interview with Punch how a woman can have a successful marriage, actress Omotola said she doesn’t believe in gender equality and women should understand that men are the heads of the family. Omotola has been married for 18 years so I think she qualifies to advise other women. What she said below… I don’t believe in gender equality. I do not believe that God made man and woman to be equal in any way. I believe that in every organised institution, there is always a head and an assistant. It doesn’t mean that one should take the other for granted, or disrespect the other. I believe the husband is the head of the home and the wife is an assistant. My husband is a pilot, I have flown with him several times and I understood that here is a captain and a co-pilot. They are both responsible for the passengers’ lives. But when there is a final decision to make, it is up to the captain to make it. He is more experienced and the one with the responsibility. But any mature captain will not ignore his co-pilot because the co-pilot is not a cabin attendant. He is there for a reason. It just depends on how you understand and play your roles. I believe women should understand this. When a woman starts a struggle for power tussle with him, it tends to cause friction in the home. The woman should give the man the respect as the head of the home and also prove herself as a worthy co-pilot. He needs to see you as a reliable co-pilot. Continue.. Sometimes, he may not be the one running the house day-to-day, you are the one to take decisions but you have to do it in such a manner that he is comfortable enough to see you as someone he can rely on. When you have a proud and egocentric husband, hand him over to God. If you feel like your life is being threatened, or that of your children, get yourself out of that situation. You owe your children that. Try separation for a while, but before that, you must have tried other things. I do not believe that people should throw in the towel in their marriage at every flimsy excuse. You must have been a diligent wife and tried prayers and intervention. If all those fail, then you can remove yourself from that situation. Also, couples should be friends and communicate. What we call love sometimes fizzles out. True love comes from friendship. When you don’t feel those initial sparks, friendship is what keeps you together, until when the spark comes again.
