Bola Tinubu, former Governor of Lagos and National leader of the All
Progressives Congress, APC on Thursday eulogized Rivers state Governor,
Rotimi Amaechi calling him a ‘General in the Common sense revolution’.
Tinubu delivered the eulogy during the launch of Amaechi’s book, ‘Dynamics of Change: The Amaechi Years’.
Read Full statement by Tinubu below:
”In the course of the historic campaigns for the 2015
Presidential election I was emphatic that the election itself was a
great opportunity to popularise and test the noble idea of a Common
Sense Revolution in Nigeria. Soon enough we found in the resonance of
the APC Change mantra with the electorate a confirmation that Nigeria
needed a Common Sense Revolution that is non-violent.
”Indeed there is a publication with that title authored by
me in which I argued that Nigeria was ripe for a change of leadership
and Nigerians must act in a Common Sense and rational way in choosing
their leaders. The results of the March Presidential elections and that
of April have demonstrated clearly the desire by Nigerians for change.
”Elections over, both the leaders and citizens must brace up
to meet the challenges required to built a better, more prosperous
nation. Indeed, even as we subscribe to the tenets of Common Sense
Revolution, we must retool ourselves the new leadership must embark on
policies that will improve the general well being of the mass of our
people.
”Permit me to recall here how I once attempted to encapsulate the idea of Common Sense Revolution: “…
”It is a positive one to rescue, repair and restructure the
nation and its institutions in ways that further collective prosperity
and well-being. The only violence that is to be done is to violence,
injustice and poverty themselves. At its essence, a common sense
revolution is a call to return to a level of decency in the relationship
between government and the governed, between each one of us and his
neighbor…” That was at commissioning of people-centred projects on March
23, 2015 in Kano under the leadership of Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
”We are here today, because one of the generals in the
Common Sense Revolution Army, Rotimi Amaechi is bold and willing to show
the world what he has achieved in the task to chart the critical path
to total political and economic emancipation of the people whose mandate
he enjoyed for 8 years.
”In my view, our gathering to celebrate the landmark
achievements of my brother, Governor Rotimi Amaechi, in Rivers State in
the last eight years is also another justifiable celebration of idea of
Common Sense Revolution for development. The publication of the book,
Dynamics of Change: The Amaechi Years is a timely service to history.
This occasion is all the more remarkable because of the huge challenges
Amaechi has been facing especially in his second term from an extremely
hostile federal government. His role as the chairman of the Governors’
Forum invariably brought him into a bitter collision with President
Goodluck Jonathan.
”Governor Amaechi and most of the governors want a properly
defined federalist relationship with the government at the centre. The
President would have none of that as in the notable example of the
management of the federation account. This is, therefore, another great
opportunity to salute Amaechi’s rare courage of conviction and sense of
purpose. The All Progressives Congress (APC) has every cause to be proud
of him.
”You can, therefore, imagine how much gratified I feel at
the immense intellectual efforts invested in the publication of Dynamics
of Change: The Amaechi Years. I salute the editors and authors of
essays in the book. It is thoughtful of them to document the legacy of
Amaechi in Rivers state. The high quality schools, hospitals, roads,
bridges, security and human capacity projects, among others, richly
documented in the book are a testimony that social democratic ideas can
indeed be implemented in this clime.
”It is our hope that the legacy of governance for genuine
development that Amaechi is leaving behind in Rivers would inspire state
governments to make the welfare and security of the people the focus of
governance. It is important to empahasise that security here includes
social security if the war against poverty must be won.
”The APC change agenda is anchored on the three Rs- Reform,
Relief, Relief, and Recovery. It is the Tripod upon which Nigeria must
operate in order to unleash her potentials.
”Rotimi will go on from here to continue to serve Nigeria in
key positions. He will not be alone. He will share the company of many
change agents and professionals who have cast their lots with the new
political order under the Leadership President elect, General Muhammadu
Buhari”.

Convicted Sex Offender Declared Innocent after 29 Years Behind Bars in Astonishing Case of Mistaken Identity
Michael McAlister (pictured right) spent 29 years in prison for rapes he didn't commit but was locked because he had an uncanny resemblance to the man, Norman Bruce Derr (left) who really committed the crimes.
UK mirror reports;
An innocent man who spent 29 years behind bars after being convicted of an attempted rape and kidnapping has finally been given his freedom. Michael McAlister was cleared after a serial rapist who had an uncanny resemblance to the 58-year-old at the time confessed to the 1986 offence. He was granted an unconditional pardon by Virginia's governor, wiping away the prosecution which he had campaigned against for decades alongside family and friends. After clearing McAlister (pictured above now), governor Terry McAuliffe said in a written statement:
"A number of individuals in the law enforcement community [...] have concluded that this crime was committed by another individual, and that Mr McAlister should be freed to return to his family and his community.
"I have reached the same conclusion, and I have acted in accordance with the law."
Upon being reunited with his sister and elderly mother outside Dillwyn Correctional Centre, McAlister said that the governor was a 'special man' for giving him his freedom.
He told reporters: "It’s a great day. It’s a wonderful day. Governor McAuliffe, he’s a special man for being brave enough to do this."
McAlister added that his thoughts were with the victim of the attack.
He said: "It wasn’t her fault, and I don’t hold any hard feelings at all toward her. I hope [the attacker] can deal with his issues as best he can."
McAlister was 29 and working as a carpenter when he was identified by the victim in court.
The victim, a 22-year-old mum, was assaulted in the laundry room of an apartment complex on February 23, 1986.
But she was able to partially pull her attacker's stocking mask off during the attack, and caught a glimpse of his face.
At the time, McAlister was known by police following a string of alcohol-related incidents of public indecency.
He was misidentified after a police sketch resembled his face, which helped lead to his wrongful conviction.Shawn Armbrust, executive director of the Mid-Atlantic Innocence Project, and James Bensfield and Jonathan Kossak of the Miller & Chevalier law firm, said in a joint statement: "We are thrilled that the governor did the right thing and finally ended this nightmare."

I Would Have Been In Soup If Buhari Did Not Win – Amaechi
Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi has on Thursday revealed that he
knew he would have been in trouble if the All Progressives Congress,
APC, had not won the presidential election.
Speaking in Lagos during the public presentation of a book titled “Dynamics of Change: The Amaechi Years”, which is a compilation of his achievements a governor.
He said “I knew I was going to be in trouble. I was ready to sacrifice whatever will make that change to take place. The federal government sent out a signal that if they won, nobody should let me out of Nigeria from any airport.
“One day, Asiwaju got angry with me. He was very angry. I went to his house with Mallam Nasir El-Rufai and knelt down, saying ‘please let’s not disagree, let’s win first and then we can disagree.
“I told Asiwaju that what is important is to make a history of the first civilian coup in Nigeria when your children and grandchildren read the history with your name as one of the people who helped bring about change in Nigeria.
“I said: let us focus on the victory. I remember the day of the convention, there were so many intrigues, there will be convention, there won’t be convention. I said my leader, if we don’t do the convention we are finished, the press will say APC cannot hold a convention, lead us now, there must be convention and election. So, he turned to me and said look for Tunde (Fashola), let us go,” Amaechi concluded.

Valeria Lukyanova Defends Pics: Human Barbie Says Haters' are on The Path of Degradation
After posting a new set of shocking pictures of herself, "Human Barbie"
Valeria Lukyanova hit back at her detractors online, shaming them for
hating.
In the latest Human Barbie Photos, Valeria Lukyanova appears even more distorted and plastic than usual in a bustier bra and tiny jean shorts.
So tiny that from the back, you see as much a$$ as you do clothing.
Val's midsection, meanwhile, features a set of abs so unrealistic looking that "fans" were torn over whether she starves or photoshops herself.
After receiving backlash, Valeria responded in kind.
"It is a pity that most people choose the path of degradation," she wrote in Russian in an extended message via Facebook just moments ago.
"If they see a man who has succeeded with something better than they are, they are ready to literally tear. Especially often I see it on the Internet."
Lukyanova, who says the inspiration behind her taut physique is none other than the Queen of the Amazon, says she will keep doing her thing.
"I am certainly still far from ideal, very far," she wrote.
"But I strive for athleticism ... So funny that girls and boys from sporting groups write such nasty things about my body ... so much negativity."
While she may be hated on, or attacked by Ukrainians, she says she will continue to respond by spreading "hope" and "light."
Then again, she believes you can survive on those things in lieu of food. True story, Human B. has actually espoused this wisdom in the past.
Also, she wants to bring beauty back to the old days, 'cause "ethnicities are mixing now, so there's degeneration, and it didn't used to be like that."
"Remember how many beautiful women there were in the 1950s and '60s, without any surgery? And now, thanks to degeneration, we have this."
She's quite a character.

SEE The Guys That Robbed Lekki Bank; Held Lagos Hostage
Nigerian Police in Lagos have arrested suspected members of the 22-man robbery gang that invaded the Lekki branch of First City Monument Bank, FCMB, two months ago in Lagos, killing five persons.
Recovered from the suspects were a 2008 model Honda Accord car purchased by one of the suspects from his share of the loot; a white Blackberry Z10 phone, one Apple i-Phone 5, one military face cap, used during the operation, and 120 expended ammunition.
Preliminary investigation revealed that some of the suspects were oil bunkerers recruited from Delta, Ondo and Arepo in Ogun State. They were identified as Duke Odogbo, 38; Lawrence Kingsley, 31; Ebi Tosan, 20, and Ekelemo Kuete, 30.
One of the suspects, Odogbo, who gave a graphic explanation of how the bank robbery took place, revealed that it took the gang 24 hours to plan the operation...
According to him, “I was invited by a friend from Warri, Delta State, to
come for bunkering job. But on reaching Lagos, I was told it was a bank
robbery.
“I told them I was into bunkering and not robbery. But because they told me we were going to make much money from it, I decided to join them.
“I told them I was into bunkering and not robbery. But because they told me we were going to make much money from it, I decided to join them.
“On the day of the operation, we left Tarkwa Bay at about 4.30 p.m., in two boats; with 11 persons on each. But one of the boats developed fault on the way. We all entered the good one.
“We got to the bank few minutes after 5p.m. Immediately we left the canal, some of us went to the road and started firing, thereby making way for those of us that would go inside. I led the team that went in.
“We were all putting on Army camouflage. I shattered the entrance glass with bullets and when we got inside, we demanded for the money realized for that day. The manager told us they did not make much.
“But we broke into one of their strong rooms where we got some money. We also broke into two ATM boxes, but there was no money in either of them. We told ourselves that the operation must not exceed 40 minutes.
“To my surprise, by the time we were leaving, I discovered that my colleagues were with seven extra rifles. When I asked, they said they saw some policemen in a van, concluded they were there for us and shot at them. I was not the one that shot the policemen. I did not kill anyone.
“It was when we got to the forest, located in an island in Ikorodu that we discovered that the amount stolen was N15 million and I got N500,000. I used my share to boost my bunkering business.”
On another revelation, Kuete confessed that he drove one of the speed boats, adding that he was given N50,000 at the end of the operation.
Kuete, who resides at Arepo area of Ogun State, said: “I must confess, I knew that we were going to rob a bank. I am a bunkerer at Arepo and I make at least N80,000 from each operation.
“I was hired to take them to the bank. I remained in the boat with four others, while the rest left for the bank.
“When they came back, we headed straight for our hideout, where our leaders shared the money according to individual’s involvement. I got N50,000.”
Parading the suspects, the command boss gave the identities of those who lost their lives in the operation as Inspector Bethel Agbobu, Sergeant Odehowho George, Corporal Imoise Ikechukwu, Mr. Sowemimo Kabiru and Miss Sarah Ibikunle, the 15-year-old girl, who sold fish close to the bank.
