Monkey attacks three kids in Ikorodu

The three children who suffered serious injuries following an unexpected attack by a monkey in Illado, Ikorodu, Lagos, are receiving treatment at the Shallom Hospital in the area, the Police in Lagos said on Thursday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the children, attacked on Tuesday, are eight-year-old girl, Funmilayo Gbadegeshin, two siblings Roda and Emmanuel Alombo.

Eyewitnesses told NAN that the monkey is owned by one Mrs Daniel, popularly known as ``Iya Ibeji’ who also resides in Illado also.

Mr Babatunde Oyesola, one of the residents, who said he witnessed the incident, told NAN that the monkey left the owner’s house and went into the Gbadegeshin’s home.

It attacked Funmilayo right in the parents’ home as she just returned from school.
He added that after the she was rescued and was rushed to a nearby hospital the monkey moved to another house belonging to Mr Alombo to attack Roda and Emmanuel.

The children had just returned from school also.

Oyesola said that neighbours on hearing the shout of the girl, felt she was being scolded by her older sister.

``The incident happened at about 4.30 p.m. when the children had just returned from school.
``I heard Funmilayo shouting and crying, so, I felt her sister was beating her for something she did, but when the cry did not stop, I decided to check what was happening myself.

``When I got there, I saw blood all over the place and saw a monkey jumping out from the window but because of what I saw, I had to save the girl first.
``We noticed that the vein on her right hand has been cut off and the blood was seriously rushing out of it,’’ he said.

Oyesola added that while Funmilayo was being attended to in the hospital, other children who were attacked by the monkey too were rushed in.

Another eyewitness, who pleaded anonymity, said the monkey had been attacking people in the area and that necessary precautions had not been taken by the owner.

The victim’s father, Mr Mojeed Gbadegeshin, who was away when the incident occurred, said he was called from work that the monkey had attacked his daughter.

``When I got to the hospital, I met a crowd and I was asked to go inside and see the state the monkey left my daughter.

``Afterwards the owner of the monkey came without uttering a word of sympathy and she only left with the monkey,’’ he said.
Gbadegeshin said that a report was made by well-wishers in the area to Igbogbo Barracks Police Division.

The police were said to have arrested the monkey and its owner.
Confirming the arrest, the Lagos State Police Command’s spokesman, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, said the owner and the monkey were already in custody.

``One of the children was badly injured and the other two were mildly injured but they are currently being treated.
``Also, necessary precautions will be taken to check such attacks by animals reared by people in communities.

``Necessary tests will be carried out on the children to ensure that the monkey is a healthy animal and that the children are free from any form of disease,’’ he said. (NAN)

Kylie Jenner: Did She DUMP Tyga Over Blac Chyna Cheating Texts?

At some point in the past few weeks, Tyga got Kylie Jenner's name tattooed on his arm. Romantic ink is almost always the kiss of death for any relationship, and now it looks as though Kylie and Tyga is no exception.

Sources say Tyga got the tat to show his devotion to his 17-year-old boo after his baby mama, Blac Chyna posted a text conversation in which it seemed that the rapper was trying to arrange a little ex-sex.
 Chyna, Tyga, Kylie
Now it seems the gesture may have been too little and too late, as Kylie has reportedly called it quits with Tyga after his efforts to cheat were publicly exposed.

"Kylie put on her big girl shoes and took Tyga to task when they Skyped the other night," an insider tells Hollywood Life.

"She demanded he put his phone on the screen and let her see his phone, so she could decide for herself what went on between him and Blac Chyna. He wouldn't do it and explained that what Blac Chyna said was taken out of context.

"Kylie was livid! She called him a 'lying sack of sh-t' and slammed her computer shut, cracking her screen in the process."

While we're having a hard time picturing Kylie mustering the Hulk strength necessary to crack a laptop screen just by shutting it, the rest of the story sounds awfully believable.

The source says that Kylie now says that she and Tyga are "on a break." She hasn't full-on dumped him yet, but it sounds like the end is near.

Hope that tat is easy to cover up, T-Raw!

President Jonathan, Sambo And Others To Get N3.24bn Severance Pay

President Goodluck Jonathan, Vice-president Namadi Sambo, non-returning federal lawmakers, ministers and presidential aides will collect N3.24bn as severance allowances, investigation by The Punch has shown.

The severance allowances are contained in the Remuneration Package put together by the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission.

According to the package, Jonathan, who will hand over to the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, on May 29, is entitled to 300 per cent of his annual basic salary. The President’s annual basic salary is put at N3, 514,705 and therefore his severance allowance will be N10, 544,115 after May 29.

The severance allowance is without prejudice to his other constitutional entitlements as a former head of government.

Similarly, Vice-President Sambo, who leaves office the same day as Jonathan, is also entitled to 300 per cent of his annual basic salary put at N3, 031,572.50. This means that his severance allowance after May 29 is N9, 094,717.50.

For having held the office of vice- president, Sambo also has some constitutional entitlements and perks.

PUNCH adds that about 76 senators are not returning to the National Assembly either because they did not stand for election or because they lost their bids to return. They are however entitled to N462,019,200 at the expiration of their tenure on June 5.

Like Jonathan and Sambo, they are entitled to 300 per cent of their annual basic salaries as severance allowances. This amounts to N6, 079,200 per senator.

In the House of Representatives, about 290 members are not returning to the 8th National Assembly to be proclaimed into existence by Buhari on June 5.

Each of the members is entitled to N5, 955,637.50 as severance allowance. This means that the 290 members will be paid N1, 727,134,875.

The ministers, on the other hand, will be collecting a total of N253, 967,212.5. There are 42 ministers in Jonathan’s cabinet. Thirty one of them are senior ministers and 11 are ministers of state.

Each of the senior ministers is entitled to N6, 079,200 severance allowance while each of the ministers of state will receive N5, 872,740.

This means that collectively, the senior ministers will get N188, 455,200 at the expiration of their tenure on May 29 while collectively, the ministers of state will be collecting N65, 512,012.5 .

The aides to the President comprising special advisers, senior special assistants and special assistants will get N775, 207,125.

There are 23 of them who work with the president as special advisers. Apart from this number, however, there are several others estimated at 110 who work with the vice-president, the First Lady(Patience Jonathan) and special advisers that are designated either as senior special assistants or special assistants to the President.

This means that there are about 133 aides to the president and each of them is entitled to 300 per cent of their annual basic salary which amounts to N5, 828,625.

The Nigerian democracy has been identified as one of the costliest in the world as a result of a large number of political office holders. Some experts, for instance, think that a cabinet made up of 42 ministers is too large. However, constitutionally, each of the 36 states is expected to be represented in the Federal Executive Council.

Bicameralism is another source of worry for many observers who believe that Nigeria can do with one chamber of the National Assembly. Some Nigerians have called for part-time legislature as a means of saving cost.

However, the worry of many Nigerians is not what the lawmakers earn monthly but what accrues to them through self-appropriation and constituency projects.

The Publicity Secretary of the pan-Yoruba group, Afenifere, Yinka Odumakin, said.
