10 Important Things You Should Do in 2015

Important Things You Should Do in 2015
With a new year just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about how you can make the New Year incredible. The New Year is often associated with great resolutions and brave undertakings. A new year gives you an opportunity to start a new better life. You have a chance to change things, starting right now. Define what you want to do and what you have to accomplish in the coming year. What should you start with?

Here are 10 important things you should do daily in 2015.

Maybe you will think these things are not so important, but think twice before jumping on quick conclusions.

1. Drink more water

Drink more water
It may sound silly, but most people are chronically dehydrated. Dehydration can affect everything from your concentration and memory to your energy levels. Drinking more water over the next 12 months will make a big difference in your life. Most people, however, drink much less water than required simply because they don’t feel thirsty. What are the ways to drink more water every day? Splurge on a beautiful water bottle of your favorite color or unusual design. Keep the bottle close at hand and don’t forget to refill it each hour. Adding your favorite flavor such as mint or orange is also a good way to encourage you to drink more. Drink a glass of water as an appetizer before meal. This trick will also help you to eat less and lose weight.

2. Give a hug a day

Give a hug a day
Whether or not you live with someone, make a point of giving somebody a hug every day. The human contact is a great way to boost your mood and no one can resist hugging back. Hugging has a powerful healing properties; it helps to combat anxiety, loneliness, depression and many other diseases. While hugging people exchange their energy, which helps them create strong bonds and relationship. Our touches are a very powerful tool of non-verbal communication. They help to display the wide range of emotions with great accuracy. Hugging is equally important to both parties. Don’t overlook hugging your family members, friends or even colleagues the next time you see them.

3. Do something you’ve been waiting to do

Do something you've been waiting to do
Have you always wanted to visit Mexico? Are you yearning to write a book? This is the year to do it. The beginning of a new year is a good time to compose your bucket list and start realizing your dreams. No matter what your reasons are for putting your dreams off, take steps this year to reaching them. No one knows how long they will live and it may be too late if you wait too long. Don’t be afraid to dream big, to take the first step or to face the inevitable obstacles. The most important thing to remember if you want to make your dreams come true is to forget the phrase ‘What if’. Unless you get rid of this thought, you will always hesitate over a choice.

4. Write a will

Write a will
Most people agree that writing a will is a right idea, but still most of us put off this significant moment. If you don’t have a will, write one this year. It will save your family a lot of hassle if you should pass. Unfortunately, many people do not have a valid will and when they die, things can get very complicated. Make it easy on your family and make out that will. You should consider writing a will if you’re unmarried or remarried with kids from the first marriage. This way you’ll be sure that your children will be provided with a share of your property. Moreover, while writing a will you’ll reconsider and sort out your affairs and clarify the current state of things.

5.  Save for big items

Save for big items
Whether or not you are currently in debt, you can save yourself a lot of trouble by saving up the cash for large purchases instead of putting it on the credit card or doing payments. Buying a big-ticket item always requires a detailed planning. You should make a list of the desirable items, define the price and established time frame. Alter your plan when needed either by postponing minor purchases or by cutting your expenses. If you can’t pay for it up front, you should rethink whether you really need the item.

6. Connect with people

Connect with people
Don’t let yourself sink into the world of technology. Take time to meet up with friends for coffee or lunch and get out in the world. When you connect with others face to face on a regular basis, you will find that you are much happier. Not only is face to face communication more productive, it’s also about non-verbal cues that add a personal touch and help people understand one another better. In the era of global computerization, it’s really hard not to use the Internet. But I try to limit my time online by avoiding online shopping, chatting and browsing.

7. Live according to your priorities

Live according to your priorities
What do you want to get out of life? Are you living in a way that reflects that? If not, you should take a good look at your life and decide what you need to change. You will be happier if you follow your goals. A lot of people are lost in their lives because they fail to recognize their real values and goals. Your desires are influenced greatly by media, fashion and society, which prevents you from living your own life. However, living in accordance with your inner needs is a pledge of fulfillment and content. If you feel that you live somebody else’s life, you should step back and reconsider your choices.

8. Tell someone what they mean to you

Tell someone what they mean to you
Don’t just take those around you for granted. Take a moment to let them know how much you appreciate them. Anyone you know can be told, since it doesn’t need to be a declaration of your undying love. Compliments and kind words are valuable to both giver and receiver. Saying a kind word is the easiest way to boost somebody’s spirits and make one’s day. Tell your barista that you appreciate her sunny attitude every morning. Not only will you feel good, you’ll make a difference in someone else’s life.

9. Decide to be happy

Decide to be happy
Happiness is a state of mind. It is also a set-point and it will take you a long time to learn to be happy no matter what. It’s possible to be happy even when circumstances are against you. If things aren’t going your way, make a point of looking for a bright spot in the clouds. Yes, our well-being is greatly determined by genetics, living conditions and many uncontrolled factors. Still, happiness is something we definitely can control. It isn’t always easy, but if you dedicate yourself to being happy for an entire year, you’ll have the whole process down by the end of the year. Just find something you can be grateful for and enjoy the present moment.

10. Smile

Smile
Part of being happy is just smiling. It will make you feel better and smiles are contagious. Everyone around you will have to smile when you’re smiling. Studies show that a change in a person’s expression such as a smile leads to physiological changes and production of feel-good hormones. In other words people feel better even when they imitate a smile. A grin is a little thing, but it really has a big impact on your life and those around you.

Now that 2015 is almost upon you, it’s time to start making some goals. Defining the points that you should focus on provides a good motivation and encouragement. Remember that a new year offers you hundreds of opportunities and it’s a great time to reach your goals. You and you alone are responsible for making the next year a great one. What are your goals for 2015?

Incredible: Things to Accomplish till the End of the Year

Things to Accomplish till the End of the Year

The holiday season is almost here. Many of us are extremely busy preparing for it since we want this holiday season to be special and unforgettable. The new year is a wonderful chance to make a step into your new life. Sometimes the burden of the past and present moment doesn’t let you start a new phase of life. For the sake of future success, you should use your pre-new year time and opportunities to tie up loose ends before you move to a new circle of adventures.

Wise people and psychologists advise to free the mind of anxiety, negativity and resentment, because these feelings tie your hands. It’s not a good idea to carry all wrongs, difficulties and unresolved issues on your shoulders. Do your best to fulfill all the tasks and plans. Moreover, try to say good bye to all squabbling and dead ends of the old year. Here are things you should accomplish till the end of the year.

1. Debts and promises

Do you know that it’s desirable to pay off all your debts till the end of the year? Many superstitious people believe that a good year beginning sets the tone of its run. If you’re able to find money and satisfy all your creditors, then it’s okay. If you’re up to the neck in debt, then try to be a realist and not to stuff your head with different superstitions. Instead of falling to pieces, you’d better instill confidence in your abilities and try to work more in order to increase your profits. When you complete this task, you’ll have a chance to start living and enjoying a debt free life.

You shouldn’t also forget about your broken promises. You might have promised your sister to go shopping together, and unfortunately, failed to do it. It’s high time to keep your word, because next year no one will treat your words and promises seriously.

2. Get rid of bad habits and improve health

If you’re an active smoker, you should realize that smoking isn’t the best quality of a successful and real woman. I’m sure that you have a lot of other negative habits and little disadvantages, but it’s not a problem at all. It’s been scientifically proved that a human being is able to get rid of almost all bad habits in one day, but everything depends on the strength of your willpower. Your habits are the result of your mental decision, because people usually do things they find pleasant and it’s not easy to resist the temptation to do something wrong.

The next significant thing to do is to take care of your health. Even torpid diseases can exert strong negative influence on your emotional well-being and put a damper on your festive spirit. Find time to visit your doctor and make all necessary examinations. Remember that healthy diet and regular exercise keep the doctor away.

3. Forgive and release past hurts

Before you go to your doctor, you should try to understand yourself and let your hidden resentment go. Just draw conclusions and forget about troublesome moments. These feelings can spoil not only the holiday season, but the whole next year as well. There’re many effective ways to forgive and free your heart of negative feelings. Just take a clean sheet of paper and write down all offenses and worries that keep a tight rein on your mind. Read it aloud and tell yourself that you forgive everyone and everything. It will help your negative energy fade away.

4. Throw away unnecessary stuff

People keep a lot of unnecessary and pointless items at home. They tend to clutter their houses up due to their habit to have everything close at hand. It’s important to realize that your home is not storage. According to feng shui, these people are less successful, because their energy flow is blocked. Feng shui specialists say that those who don’t fear to give something can gain and achieve more.

I understand that every item reflects certain memories and emotions, but these emotions should remain forever in your mind, not in your house. You should be brave and determined enough to thoroughly clean your house and throw away your old things. Purification of your mind is no less important than housecleaning. Try to get rid of your obsessive and negative thoughts, and you’ll have an opportunity to take a deep breath next year.

5. Get rid of toxic people

Today both environmental problems and the consumption of junk food aren’t as dangerous for your life as direct communication with toxic people. These evil-wishers might have presented a great number of unpleasant surprises to you this year. If possible, try to cross these people out of your present life. Next year promise yourself to surround yourself only with positive people who will let your inner sun shine.

6. Make plans for 2015

It’s better to make a plan of concrete actions for the future in advance. What would you like to improve or change in 2015? It’s up to you, because you’re the only one who can set correct priorities for the coming year. Try to analyze the present year and you’ll know what spheres of your life you should improve. Many of us choose family and experience; others tend to earn more money. My boss often advises our team to focus on experience, money will follow. I support this idea.

Don’t tell yourself that there’s no time to change or finish something. I believe that most of these pieces of advice can be fulfilled in one or two days. All you need is a big desire to improve yourself. If you accomplish everything this year, you’ll be ready to face the challenges of a new year. Making plans should be a point number one in your list. This significant step will motivate you to reach for the sky and move forward next year. Do you believe that all sorrows and unresolved situations of this year can have a negative impact on the coming year? We’d like to know your opinion!

A BOY THROWN INTO RIVER FOR WITCHCRAFT IN AKWA IBOM STATE

A10-year-old boy, Usen Okon, who was thrown into the Imo River in the Ikot Abasi area of Akwa Ibom State, over witchcraft accusation, has survived the ordeal.

10 YEAR BOY THROWN INTO RIVER

A non-government organisation, the Humanist Association for Peace and Social Tolerance Advancement and its partner, Child’s Rights and Rehabilitation Network, said the boy was being taken care of by the groups.

The Senior Project Manager of the organisation, Mr. Ayobami Ojedokun, told our correspondent in Uyo on Tuesday that Okon was under the care of his paternal aunt, identified simply as Ekaeyen, at Etebi community in the Esit Eket Local Government Area of the state as his parents had died.

He said a few days ago, Okon was aroused from sleep by Ekaeyen who took him to her husband and asked him to confess to being a wizard.
He added that when Okon denied the witchcraft accusation, his aunt threatened to throw him into a river.

Ojedokun said Ekaeyen, true to her words, on November 16, took Okon to the Imo River and threw him into the water with the hope that he would drown.
“She actually threw Okon into Imo River thinking that the boy would drown. The boy came out of the water alive and went to their home, only to be told that her auntie had relocated,” Ojedokun said.

The Project Director, Mr. Adeyemi Johnson, added that HAPSTA/CRARN have reunited 16 children to their families from January to November, and referred two children to Ministry of Women Affairs.

He added that HAPSTA/CRARN had also rescued 17 children from January till date, while the organisation had 15 children in its centre.
“We also organise advocacy town hall meetings in Okobo, Ebughu and Etinan, where child witches stigmatisation are commonplace. We brought pastors and child rights activists together through a meeting at Ikot Abasi,” he said.

The acting Police Public Relations Officer, Akwa Ibom State Police Command, Mr. Iboro Victor, said he was not aware of the incident.
“The incident is not to my knowledge right now,” he said.

Evil: Woman Disappears With Four Kids Within 30mins Of Starting a New Job As a Teacher

A woman simply identified as eleha (woman in purdah) on November 18, 2014 disappeared with 4 kids at a neighbourhood home lesson in Idi-Omo area of Ibadan, Oyo State.

According to Tribune, the children are yet to be found till the writing of this report today.

The four missing children, whose names were given as Abdulsalam Aderibigbe, Abigail Adegunju, Chidiebere and Onyiyechukwu were reportedly taken away by the eleha who disguised as someone in need of an employment. She struck within 30 minutes of starting her job as a lesson assistant.
The 33-year-old proprietress of  Mrs Kafayat Olatubosun, has described the incident which led to the disappearance of the four pupils in her care as one that is like a devil stalking her, after which he crept in and struck.
According to Mrs Olatunbosun who is nursing a 14-month-old baby and is currently kept in protective custody at State Criminal Investigation, Iyaganku, Ibadan:

“I started operating a neighbourhood lesson for children at Sagbolada Compound, Idi Omo, Ibadan in 2009. I rented a space in the compound and I pay N500 monthly for it. I have about 35 pupils between the ages of one-and-half and three. Sometimes, primary school pupils sent home from their schools because of non-payment of fees are brought by their parents so that there would be no vacuum in their academic lives. I collect N20 daily for each child and the lesson hours are between 8a.m. and 1p.m.”
The National Teachers Institution (NTI) certificate holder and mother of three spoke further:
“I had been working alone all the years, with regular assistance from my husband and a few elderly women staying within and around the lesson. Whenever I wanted to move round to pick children from their homes, my husband would stay with the ones already in class. Same would happen in the afternoon until the last child had been taken home. Whenever he was busy in the shop where he works as a lotto agent, the women who were like my in-laws would assist me.
The woman who did this evil work (kidnapping) had been coming when I was still pregnant with the 14-month-old baby I am nursing. She kept pestering me that she wanted to work with me but I told her that I did not need assistance.
About a month after I resumed work, having spent 41 days at home after delivery, she came again and I still insisted that I did not need an assistant. She told me that she wanted to leave where she was working because she was being owed salary. I replied that I would not a similar situation to occur in our relationship because the children were enough to take care of my own needs.
I told her that I would like to inform my husband which I did by calling him. But he could not come because he was busy in his office. The woman told me she would come back the following day. The following morning, when I got to the lesson, at a little after 8a.m., I met the woman waiting for me.
Shortly after, my husband came and saw her too. I said I would be paying her N3,000 monthly and she agreed. My husband left for his office and I decided to make the rounds to pick my pupils.
I went the first round to pick the children and I met the lady on my return. I went the second round and still met her. Even some parents who brought their children themselves saw her.
It was on my return after the third round that she was no longer around. I also noticed that one of the children, Abdusalam, was missing. I shouted and the elderly women around came. I quickly called my husband on the phone and he came. I met one of the parents who just brought her child in and she said she did not meet anyone.
That was how we noticed that Abigail, Samson, Chidiebere and Onyiyechukwu were also missing. The last two children are siblings Samson, who is three years old later walked back to us.”
When asked if she could identify the woman, Mrs Olatunbosun replied that she could.
Crime Reports learnt that the Idi Omo neighbourhood was immediately thrown into confusion as residents, especially the youths and parents of the missing pupils, started searching for the woman and the children. The mother of two of the missing children who are sisters was reported to have collapsed immediately and had since been on admission. The older of her two kids is three.
But the police image maker in Oyo State, Olabisi Okuwobi-Ilobanafor said that Commissioner of Police, Kola Shodipo has put his men on their toes to unravel the identity of the woman, with a view to arresting her.

Meet Andele Lara, the 22-year-old student who is the mirror-image of superstar Rihanna.

Andele, from Boston, Massachusetts is such a dead-ringer for the Bajan beauty that she can't step out the house without being mobbed by screaming Rihanna fans.

Could be twins: Andele was 15 when friends at school first noticed her remarkable likeness to the singer

Strangers follow Andele on her way to work and send her fan mail whilst companies pay her thousands of pounds to endorse their products - making her life not too dissimilar to the Umbrella singer.
Andele is confused for Rihanna on a daily basis and often approached by screaming fans

Her success has prompted Andele to become a full-time Rihanna lookalike.
She explains: 'The moment I step out anywhere, everyone starts staring and whispering before I get bombarded by strangers asking to take their photo with me.
'This happens every day - It doesn't matter what I do. I can't go twenty-four hours without hearing Rihanna's name.
'I know I could happily give up my part-time job and studies to have a career as a Rihanna lookalike.'

As a child, Andele always felt like the ugly ducking. However she became more confident in her looks during her teens.
She says: 'Growing up, I was a very shy girl. I was known as the skinny girl with the big forehead.
'But as I got older, I went through many stages to find myself and experimented with different hairstyles and fashion trends.'
Andele - who is single and dating - was fifteen years old when friends at school first noticed her remarkable likeness to the world-famous diva.
She explains: 'The comments started in my sophomore year. My friend had a magazine with Rihanna on the cover. He held it up to my face and was like "You look like her!"
'I wasn't really sure. She was glammed up in a magazine and here I was in my school uniform.
'Personally, I never realized I looked like Rihanna. I do see some resemblance but not as much as everyone else I think.'
But as Rihanna's fame increased, Andele could not escape the comparisons to the star and her day-to-day life changed forever.

She explains: 'When 'Umbrella' came out, a lot more people began commenting that I looked like Rihanna.
'But after Ri-Ri released her album 'Loud' in 2010, the attention I started to receive for looking like her was undeniable.
'People began approaching me in the street asking if I was her and I would see photos of myself going viral on social media.'
Now, Andele's incredible likeness to the singer means she is regularly swarmed by strangers believing her to be Rihanna.
Andele has landed over £13,000 worth of clothing contracts in the last year

Resemblance pays off: Andele has landed over £13,000 worth of clothing contracts in the last year due to her uncanny resemblance

'Literally, people mistake me for her all the time! I only have to step out of the house for an hour before I hear someone say, "Oh my god, is that Rihanna?"
'At first, I thought it was funny to take a picture with someone who believed I was her and then make their day. But as Rihanna gets even more famous, the attention just intensifies.
'Some people follow me into stores or as I'm driving. Other times fifteen people will swarm at me all at once to take a picture with me.
'I do think the attention I get is cool but there have been some scary occasions when some super-fans have followed me on my way to work everyday.
'And I must admit there have also been moments when I couldn't face taking a photo with yet another Rihanna fan. But it really makes their day to think they met Ri-Ri. I've never denied anyone a picture.'
Andele says the attention is most extreme when she goes out clubbing.
'When I go on a night out, that's when the attention is at its highest. Even my friends get annoyed by the number of people that come up to me.
'Men come up to me all the time, thinking I'm Rihanna and buying me drinks! They chat me up and try to get my number.'
Last year, Andele was even mistaken for Rihanna when she happened to be partying at the same nightclub as the star's bad boy ex Chris Brown.
She says: 'I was at a club in Boston and Chris Brown was there. Because he was there, I guess everyone assumed I was Rihanna!
'I was casually walking around and all these star-struck people were holding their hand to their hearts backing away from me and staring.

'At first, I was confused but then I realised what was going on. In the end, I spent the whole night taking fun pictures with groups of people who had mistaken me for Rihanna.'

Andele's resemblance to the singer has thrust her into the limelight and made her well-known on social media.

As a result of the similarities, Andele has landed over £13,000 worth of clothing contracts in the last year and over 18,000 followers on Instagram.

She says: 'I wouldn't really say I've gone out looking for opportunities, they've just come along naturally. I reckon if I put more effort, I would get even more!
'I've scored hair contracts as well as sneaker, mascara, hair accessories and apparel deals. I also get into clubs for free and I get a lot of free drinks too!
'I am grateful for my followers and I love the chance to give them advice. I get tons of fan-mail and messages from people.

'After Rihanna was banned from Instagram in April, some of her fans have written to me saying that my profile had replaced hers in their lives.'
Even Rihanna herself has inadvertently come across Andele on social media.
'One Rihanna fan page on Instagram mistakenly posted my picture with the caption, 'Rare pic of Rihanna' and Rihanna actually commented on it with 'OH?!'
'But that was the closest I'd say to her knowing me. It was a brief moment but the comments and followers on my Instagram that came after that was unbelievable.
'Every time I refreshed my page, I had at least thirty new followers and some really hateful comments too.

'In the end, the attention and mean comments from some users was a bit too much. I had to turn my notifications off on Instagram and make my account private.'
She added: 'I'm a big fan of Rihanna though. A lot of celebrities become someone they aren't but she seems to have stayed true to herself.

'I would love to meet Ri-Ri and take a selfie with her!'
Andele plans on becoming a professional Rihanna lookalike but says she'll have to draw the line at performing like the popstar.

She said: 'I know I could make a career of it. I'm pretty much a lookalike in my daily life now! But unfortunately I can't sing though so I might have to take singing lessons!'

Ziona says he is blessed to have his 39 wives. They live in a 100-room, four storey house set in the hills of Baktwang village in the Indian state of Mizoram.

Mr Chana told daily mail
'Today I feel like God's special child. He's given me so many people to look after.
'I consider myself a lucky man to be the husband of 39 women and head of the world's largest family.'
The family is organized with almost military discipline, with the oldest wife Zathiangi organizing her fellow partners to perform household chores such as cleaning, washing and preparing meals.

75-yr-old impregnates 13-yr old girl in Oyo

75 year old Pa Muse Alabi is  currently at the State Criminal Investigation Department of the Oyo State Police Command, for defilement of a 13-year-old girl (name withheld) allegedly committed by the old man, and which has resulted in pregnancy.

Tribune reports that Pa Alabi was doing carpentry work for a lady under whom the victim was an apprentice. The young girl seized the opportunity to tell Pa Alabi to build a safe for her. After giving her the safe, Pa Alabi wooed the girl and she agreed to his proposal. After the first sexual intercourse they had, it was learnt that the suspect gave the girl N200. When she also demanded for a handset, he gave her N1,500 to buy i-tel phone.

Four days after, they made love again. Both times were in September this year. In an interview with Crime Reports, Pa Alabi admitted having sex with the girl and the paternity of the baby. He also agreed to marry her and take care of her and the baby when born. According to the man who lives at his family house at Oje area,
“I am a carpenter and I still work till the present time. I even take roofing jobs. I am very strong.I have two daughters and a son. My first wife gave birth to the female children but had to be taken away by her people when she developed mental illness. My second wife is the mother of the boy who is an SSS3 student but she has left for another man. Currently, I have no wife.”
So how does he satisfy his sexual needs when it looks as if he is very active?
“I don’t go looking for any woman. I usually have sex with any of the married women who like me and come to me for sex. This is not always though.”
Speaking on how he came in contact with his victim, the elderly man said
: “I used to do carpentry work for her boss who sells tailoring materials. That was where I knew her. One day, she asked me to help her build a safe in which she could be keeping her money. When I finished it, I asked her to come to my shop for the safe late one evening and I gave it to her.
“She used to pass by my shop whenever she was going home and used to stop by to greet me. On a particular day, I expressed my interest in her and she promised to think about it.She later consented and on one of the days she stopped to say hello to me, we had sex when I had an urge. And it was mutual. About five days after the first time, we had sex again and she stopped coming.
“One day, she came to me and told me that her grandmother said she was pregnant. She stopped coming again and I didn’t see her again until policemen came to arrest me.”
When asked whether he knew that his action was in contravention of the law, Pa Muse replied that he didn’t know, describing the outcome of his relationship with the young girl as “an act of God”. He said:
“Mistake has no master. I pray that God should forgive me.”
The suspect said he doesn’t use any sex performance enhancement drug before making love to a female
“I don’t take any herbal drink for enhancement of sexual performance. They are alcoholic and I don’t take alcohol as a good Muslim. I observe my five-times-daily prayers faithfully.”
Pa Alabi said he was ready to take responsibility over the pregnant girl and the baby she is expecting.
“I can take care of her adequately. I have a nephew who is a medical doctor and he has promised to help too,” he stated.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Olabisi Okuwobi-Ilobanafor however said that the suspect would be charged to court.

I am devastated about the news: Actress Stephanie Linus reacts to 'rape allegations' levied against brother

Recall that reports of how a certain Lagos Big Boy, Daniel Okereke who happens to be the popular actress, Stephanie Okereke's relative is all over the internet.

After being accused of raping a UNILAG Female Student, other victims came out accusing him of assault and narrating how he forced himself on them
Stephanie has now reacted to the allegations.
Read the exclusive mail sent in below:

While it is a very difficult time for me, and my family; I feel the need to make clear my position, lest there be any doubt. Rape is rape, regardless of who the face of the accused is.
Indeed, the irony is not lost on me. I have spent my lifelong career advocating and living my conviction that women around the world should be able to live free of violence, sexual harassment or any form of abuse against their persons. This conviction led me to be involved in numerous initiatives combating violence against women in several countries including the U.S, Liberia and Sierra Leone.
The conviction also led me to place much of my energy on my work with Vesico Vaginal Fistula (VVF), a passion that dates back to my time at the University of Calabar.
As a student, I heard a story about young girls who had been forced into early marriage and were suffering the negative and embarrassing effects of VVF. The story stayed in my consciousness and drove me, for years, to seek ways to raise awareness on the condition; leading to my work with a team of dedicated doctors to carry out repair surgeries for VVF victims across the country; and my self-produced, soon to be released movie, ‘DRY.’
So, again, it is indeed heart breaking for me to receive and deal with news alleging a family member of mine is an alleged perpetrator of sexual violence against a woman. I am devastated.
This case is now in Nigeria’s criminal justice system as the accused awaits arraignment. I have also encouraged and assured the alleged victim of my stance against rape and applaud her for her bravery to upset the culture of silence, in Nigeria; even as I accord deference and patiently wait for the criminal justice system to determine the guilt or innocence of my brother.
For Nigerian press and blogs; I call on you to please report this case in an ethical manner. I am a married woman living my life. The alleged transgression of my relative does not make it mine. The focus should be the impact of rape on the alleged victim, and resources for other alleged victims, not me.
Some members of the press and blogs have turned me into the accuser; using my name for sensational headlines and putting my images, exclusively, in their stories. This is a form of victimization of me as a woman, its unethical and extremely hurtful. I am not the alleged accused.
I therefore please ask all bloggers and the media who have placed my pictures and name to this story to refrain from further using me to sensationalise this story.
I thank my fans, and all well-wishers for your continued support and ask for your continued prayers.
God bless.
' I am distraught and devastated to hear of the recent allegation of rape brought against a relative of mine, Daniel Okereke (my brother).
