I am devastated about the news: Actress Stephanie Linus reacts to 'rape allegations' levied against brother

Recall that reports of how a certain Lagos Big Boy, Daniel Okereke who happens to be the popular actress, Stephanie Okereke's relative is all over the internet.

After being accused of raping a UNILAG Female Student, other victims came out accusing him of assault and narrating how he forced himself on them
Stephanie has now reacted to the allegations.
Read the exclusive mail sent in below:

While it is a very difficult time for me, and my family; I feel the need to make clear my position, lest there be any doubt. Rape is rape, regardless of who the face of the accused is.
Indeed, the irony is not lost on me. I have spent my lifelong career advocating and living my conviction that women around the world should be able to live free of violence, sexual harassment or any form of abuse against their persons. This conviction led me to be involved in numerous initiatives combating violence against women in several countries including the U.S, Liberia and Sierra Leone.
The conviction also led me to place much of my energy on my work with Vesico Vaginal Fistula (VVF), a passion that dates back to my time at the University of Calabar.
As a student, I heard a story about young girls who had been forced into early marriage and were suffering the negative and embarrassing effects of VVF. The story stayed in my consciousness and drove me, for years, to seek ways to raise awareness on the condition; leading to my work with a team of dedicated doctors to carry out repair surgeries for VVF victims across the country; and my self-produced, soon to be released movie, ‘DRY.’
So, again, it is indeed heart breaking for me to receive and deal with news alleging a family member of mine is an alleged perpetrator of sexual violence against a woman. I am devastated.
This case is now in Nigeria’s criminal justice system as the accused awaits arraignment. I have also encouraged and assured the alleged victim of my stance against rape and applaud her for her bravery to upset the culture of silence, in Nigeria; even as I accord deference and patiently wait for the criminal justice system to determine the guilt or innocence of my brother.
For Nigerian press and blogs; I call on you to please report this case in an ethical manner. I am a married woman living my life. The alleged transgression of my relative does not make it mine. The focus should be the impact of rape on the alleged victim, and resources for other alleged victims, not me.
Some members of the press and blogs have turned me into the accuser; using my name for sensational headlines and putting my images, exclusively, in their stories. This is a form of victimization of me as a woman, its unethical and extremely hurtful. I am not the alleged accused.
I therefore please ask all bloggers and the media who have placed my pictures and name to this story to refrain from further using me to sensationalise this story.
I thank my fans, and all well-wishers for your continued support and ask for your continued prayers.
God bless.
' I am distraught and devastated to hear of the recent allegation of rape brought against a relative of mine, Daniel Okereke (my brother).

UNILAG Female Student Raped By Lagos Big Boy (Must Read)

To the300 level Computer Science student, 6th of November, 2014, was like every other day for her at the University of Lagos, Akoka Yaba. As the female student, who claimed to be sick, returned from lectures and stepped into her apartment located at the Moremi hall in UNILAG, one Daniel Okereke, a big boy who has been wooing her, came visiting.

Without any hesitation, the undergraduate was said to have left her room to attend to her visitor, who it was learnt opted to take her to a pharmaceutical store around Akoka to get some drugs. He reportedly took her to an eatery, so that she could get some food before taking the drugs.

Mr. Okereke
Narrating her ordeal to the police:
the UNILAG female student [names withheld] who had marks of strings on her back, hands and legs , narrated how she narrowly escaped being murdered by Okereke, in her bid to free herself from his grips.

According to her: “When he came visiting, I never knew he had something sinister in his mind until we got to his place. At the eatery, he ordered that the food be made take-away and asked me to go eat it in his place and at the same time rest before taking me back to the hostel.

"Immediately we entered the room, he secured the door and I had supper and later asked to be taken back. But he said he must have sex with me. I tried to appeal to him to consider my state of health and take me back to campus.

"Before I knew what was happening, he started beating me, forcing to have his way. As if that was not enough, he called in seven guards in the compound who assisted him and tied me down. He thereafter, went into his kitchen and brought out a knife, threatening to kill me if I resisted. He took me to one of the rooms where he brought out a condom and raped me."

When the 23 year-old lady was untied, she went violent and started shattering every property she could lay her hands on. In the process, one of the objects she allegedly threw out of the window, landed on a vehicle belonging to one of the tenants, smashing its windscreen. That attracted neighbours.

The case was reported at Area ‘F’ Ikeja. During interrogation, Okereke, claimed to be nephew of the former DG of Nigerian Stock Exchange, and cousin to a front-line Nollywood actress who ironically has a foundation which promotes the well being of women.

The guy was said to have been released on bail, and the case has been transferred to the State CID.

In his defence, Okereke claimed that the female student destroyed his property, hence his action. Now it is her words against his.

In court, Okereke and his accomplice pleaded not guilty to the charges. And the Magistrate, Aje-Afunwa, granted the Lagos big boy, Okereke, bail in the sum of just N200,000. The second guy was granted bail in the sum of just N50,000. The matter was adjourned till next year, January 9, 2015.

Hilarious: Mike Golic Poses Like Kim Kardashian, Ruins the Internet Forever

Look, we had no problem with the Kim's nude photo shoot. If she wanted to make some headlines and feel good about her post-baby body before getting pregnant again, more power to her. Whatever. It didn't affect us in any way.

Until now, that is.
Mike Golic Nude Photo
Last week, ESPN co-anchors Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic made a bet when the former’s alma mater (Northwestern) played the latter’s (Notre Dame) in football.

After Northwestern pulled off the overtime upset, Golic had to come through with his side of the losing wager... which resulted in him re-creating the now-iconic Kim's Paper Magazine photo. And ruining the Internet everything forever in the process.

“We are so, so sorry,” the official Northwestern Sports Twitter account wrote while re-Tweeting the picture above.

Really, though, it should be Kim Kardashian who is apologizing.
If she had just kept her clothes on, we wouldn't have already lost our breakfast this morning and our eyes wouldn't be permanent scarred, either. Thanks a lot, Kim.

Sorry, Kim Kardashian. But you pretty much asked for this with your latest cover pose.

I Was Chained and Forced to Sexually Satisfy 30 Men in a Night - Shocking Confession of a Nigerian Sex Slave

Adejoke, a Lagos indigene, explained that an impoverished background led her to survive by hawking water as a young girl before she becoming an apprentice hair stylist.

Her is heart-breaking. Lured by a false promise of ‘greener pastures’ abroad, the young Nigerian ended up a merciless victim of human trafficking, chained to a bed in a dingy, dirty Libyan room and forced to sexually satisfy up to 30 men in a single night...

“When I lost my dad, his family claimed my mum was responsible for his death,” the 21 year old tearfully said, sharing her experiences at a popular church in Lagos. “They left us with her and ever since then, she has been the one catering for us.”

Aged 19, a middle-aged lady walked into the shop where she was styling and approached her with an unusual proposal. “She came to me and said there was a country she was staying in and if she took me to that country, I would make money and would be able to cater for my family.”

“My happiness knew no bounds,” she recalled, her judgement veiled by the blind promise of greener pastures. “I said, ‘Finally, an angel has come’. Unknown to me, she was a devil in human’s clothing.”

Just one week later, without even informing her mum or siblings, Ifekoya was in a vehicle with the mysterious lady en route to Libya. “She said when we got there, we would board a flight to Spain where I would start work as a stylist”.

The long journey by road through the infamous Sahara Desert was nothing short of hellish. “We were seeing dead bodies strewn on the ground,” she reminisced, shuddering at the grisly recollection.

“Even the vehicle that was following us directly passed on top of a buried bomb; the vehicle just exploded and everybody there died.” Ifekoya witnessed scenes far too horrific to repeat as masked men attacked a vehicle close to hers, beating the occupants to a stupor and raping the women inside.

Finally making it to Libya’s capital city of Tripoli, Adejoke was taken by the woman to a duplex. The first glimpse of her new home was a shock to behold. “I met five Nigerian girls there who were half-naked,” she stated. Smiling wryly at her bewildered confusion, the woman said she would ‘explain everything tomorrow’.

“The following morning, when I woke up, she brought some underwear for me and said these were the clothes I must use to work,” the young Nigerian narrated to the sober crowd.

As realisation dawned to what she had unknowingly entangled herself in, Ifekoya bluntly refused. “That afternoon, people said they wanted to meet me because I was new but I protested,” she continued.

“So, the woman went outside and brought a cane. They really beat me up until I was very weak. She then took me to one of the rooms and tied me down there. She tied my hands to the back of my head and tied my legs separately so that they were open. That very day, 30 men used me in the room where I was chained.”

Shackled as a sex slave alone in the dark, dirty room save for the ravenous men who forced themselves on her, Ifekoya’s willpower slowly began wilting.

“After two weeks, the other girls came to me and said that if I didn’t accept to do this, she would tie me down for two years. When I knew the whole thing was like that, I just accepted.”

Informed that she would have to repay a total of $9,000 to the devilish lady to ‘cover the costs’ of her travel to Libya, the young Nigerian prostituted for almost one year before finally ‘earning’ enough to ‘buy’ her freedom.

However, as hope finally beckoned that she could leave such hellish lifestyle, fate struck another venomous blow. “Immediately I planned to leave the place, I started falling sick – seriously sick.”

Nearly one year of sleeping with multiple men on a nightly basis had taken its toll on her young body. “To my greatest surprise, my womb fell. I had to be taken to the hospital where they operated on me to remove it.”

Feeble and practically penniless, Ifekoya now faced the ominous challenge of making enough money for the journey back to Nigeria. Her options were limited. “At the end of the day, I had no choice. I still had to resort to the same thing to come back to Nigeria,” she admitted.

Eventually ending up in another brothel, she began saving up for the return leg of her nightmare journey. After encountering a fellow Nigerian prostitute who had a similar story as a victim of deception and exploitation, the duo struck a strong friendship and resolved to make the journey together.

At this point, they made what turned out to be a life-changing discovery. “It was when we were in one of our friend’s houses that we were introduced to Emmanuel TV,” she explained. “We started watching and praying along with it.”

Almost 2 years after her intrepid trip across the Sahara Desert, Ifekoya and her friend embarked on the journey back to Nigeria. Inspired by the clips they had seen on Emmanuel TV, the television station of controversial Nigerian pastor T.B. Joshua, they decided to make The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (SCOAN) their first port of call.

After receiving prayer for ‘deliverance’ from the ‘spirit of prostitution’ and hearing of their sordid stories, Joshua decided to give the ex-prostitutes N200,000 ($1,200) each to restart their lives.

“God has kept me alive to pass this message across to the youth,” the young Nigerian emotionally concluded, admonishing her age-mates not to fall prey to the same tactics used to lure her into slavery.

WHO confirms DR Congo Ebola-free

The World Health Organization confirmed Friday that the Democratic Republic of Congo was Ebola-free, as 42 days had passed since the last case in an outbreak that killed at least 49 people.
 GUINEA-HEALTH-EBOLA
The DRC outbreak, which began in August, involved a different strain of Ebola from the one that has claimed more than 5,400 lives in west Africa.

“The Democratic Republic of Congo is now considered free of Ebola transmission,” the UN health agency said in a statement.

The all-clear for the country, where 66 people were infected, came after twice the 21-day incubation period had passed with no new cases detected.

DRC had declared itself Ebola-free nearly a week ago, but WHO said the country’s seventh outbreak of the deadly virus was officially over only on Thursday.

100-year-old woman sees ocean for first time

Just weeks before turning 101, Ruby Holt has seen the ocean for the first time.

She has spent most of her life on a farm in rural Tennessee picking cotton and said she never had the time or money to go to a beach.

"I've heard people talk about it and how wonderful it was and wanted to see it, but I never had the opportunity to do so," she said.

Now she has been on an all-expenses paid trip to the Gulf of Mexico.

Ms Holt's holiday was funded by the assisted living centre where she lives along with a charity which grants wishes to elderly people called Wish of a Lifetime.

She said she had never seen anything as big as the ocean but kept describing the November weather as "cold".

Mark Davis, executive director of Brookdale's Sterling House, where Ms Holt lives said two employees filled out the application for her after finding out that she wanted to see the ocean for the first time.
"They did a water gun fight out in the courtyard during the summer and water got brought up, the beach, and that's what she told the girls, that she had never been," he said.
"When we got to the room yesterday she was just pointing out the ocean and, you know, her facial expressions and... she was just speechless."

Ms Holt, who has four children, said she was always too busy on the farm or working in a shirt factory to travel and that the family never had enough money.
The holiday to the beach in Alabama was the furthest she had ever been from her home in Giles County. Ms Holt said she had only left the state of Tennessee once before.
To visit the beach she travelled 400 miles - approximately the same distance as going from London to Glasgow.

She had been leant a motorised wheelchair which had been adapted to be used on sand and with the support of care workers was able to stand and dip her toes in the water.
Ms Holt said: "We don't have nothing like this in Giles County."

Body Odor: 10 Foods That Cause Bad Body Odor

Food is dire and essential for our existence but there are certain foods that are known to impart foul body odor and act as dark spots to your personality. Bad body odor can sabotage your reputation and lower your confidence.
Body Odor Causing Foods
Most of us are very particular about food. Food undoubtedly plays a significant role in shaping our personality. Someone has correctly mentioned, “You are what you eat.”

Foods affect your body odor. There are foods that give a foul body odor and bad breath.  We spend exorbitantly on deodorants and antiperspirant just to smell soothing and confident. One thing is for sure that none of us want to step out smelling awful.

Following are 10 foods to avoid in your cuisine to be confident of smelling good.

10 Foods That Can Change Your Body Odor

Want to make an unstinky and impeccable impression just stay away from these foods.

1.  Garlic

You must have read in novels that garlic is a wonderful way to keep Dracula at bay. Garlic is a good way to get rid not of Dracula but almost everyone. Its smell is hard to bear.
The strong garlic smell lingers in your breath up to 72 hours. Though it has great medicinal properties but avoid consuming it particularly if you are going for a party.

2. Onion

Just like garlic onions too are known to impart a foul body odor and your breath. Onions are famous for lowering cholesterol and have some vital medicinal ingredients. Raw onions make your breath smelling stinky for hours. Cooked onions are better than raw ones.

3. Alcohol

Alcohol is another element whose consumption may produce foul body odor. Over-drunk person smell obnoxiously bad. The breath mints and mouthwashes simply fail to mask the awfully bad smell. The only recovering element from body odor is time.

4. The Durian Fruit

Durian is one fruit that is banned at public places owing to its extremely obnoxious dirty laundry-like smell. Durian fruit have a custard-like texture. The smell is hard to stand and it causes body odor.

6. Radish

Raw radish is also known to impart a bad odor to your mouth. Radish gives a strong pungent odor that is quite evident while you talk to others.

7. Fish

Fishes are the richest source of Vitamin A. They are good for improving your vision and enhance the skin elasticity. Too much consumption of fishes makes your sweat smelly and hard to stand.

8. Red Meat

Well red meat takes a long time to get digested and lies stagnant in the stomach for a long time. It releases toxins and causes bad odor in the sweat and foul mouth odor.

9. Coffee

Coffee cause acidity and therefore leads to bad breath. Avoid consuming too many beverages like tea and coffee to smell confidently.

Dairy products are indeed rich sources of calcium and vitamin D but they cause foul body odor due to the high protein content. This protein is broken down in the gastric tract by bacteria and bad breath is produced.
