Michael Essien Says Sulley Muntari Was Right For Slapping GFA Official

sulley_essien
Ghana midfielder Michael Essien has given his full support to Sulley Muntari after his AC Milan team-mate was thrown out of the Black Stars camp at the 2014 World Cup for an ‘unprovoked physical attack’ on Ghana FA executive at the tournament in Brazil.
In his first comment since the dismissal of Sulley Muntari and Kevin-Prince Boateng for different disciplinary issues, Essien seemed to blame the Ghana FA for the dismissal of Muntari.

The AC Milan star, who played a bit-part role for Ghana at the World Cup, gave a brief reaction to numerous questions and appeals asking him to advice Boateng and Muntari over their reported indiscipline in the Black Stars camp and rather defended the actions of the duo.
“@acheamponglilian advice your so call FA not Sulley,” the ex-Chelsea star replied to an Instagram comment when asked to advice his friend Muntari over the attack on Armah, the owner of one of Ghana’s leading clubs.
Muntari is reported in the Ghanaian media to have launched a fisted attack on Ghana FA member Moses Armah during a meeting before chasing him up in his hotel room for further attacks resulting in his dismissal.
The action has drawn worldwide condemnation for the AC Milan star who has been sacked from Ghana camps on several occasions over disciplinary issues.
Simmering tensions surfaced in Ghana’s camp over unpaid World Cup appearance fees during a meeting in which Muntari launched an unprovoked attack on the Black Stars Management Committee member Moses Armah just before Ghana’s last game of the tournament in Brasilia.
Boateng, who had a disappointing campaign at this year’s finals, was also thrown out of Ghana’s camp following a ‘stinking’ verbal abuse on Ghana coach James Kwesi Appiah – reports in the Ghana media say. The altercation, which the Schalke 04 star denies, led to his dismissal as he used the F-word on the soft-spoken coach.
Essien, who played just one game at Ghana’s World Cup campaign, has received praise for his conduct in the Ghana camp as he had remained calm and collected through the confusing times. But his show of support for the duo is expected to change opinions.
Moments after Muntari’s dismissal from the team’s camp, he quickly focused his attention on AC Milan where he has signed a new one-year contract extension.

Man commits suicide in Abeokuta, after getting dumped by his fiancée (Photo)

Over the weekend, a heart-broken 33-year-old man, Oluwatosin Otaiku, stabbed himself to death after his fiancee, Olaogun Oluwatoyin, called off their engagement.

After futile efforts to get her to re-consider her decision, he decided to commit suicide in his home at the Onikolobo area of Abeokuta, Ogun State on Saturday.
He  couldn’t imagine a life without the love of his life.

One of his neighbours spoke to journalists saying Oluwatosin became a shadow of himself after the heartbreak and this made neighbours, who were aware of the development, to intervene.
On one of such occasions, the two lovers were  invited to discuss in the privacy of a shop at Safari junction in Onikolobo to trash out issues but Olaogun reportedly stood her ground and maintained that she could not continue with the relationship. The deceased did the unthinkable and reportedly brought out a knife from his pocket and stabbed himself to death.

He was said to have been rushed to the Mercy Hospital in Panseke but he died on the way to the hospital.
Confirming the report, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said the police were still holding on to Otaiku’s remains until a postmortem examination would be carried out.

“The lady is still with us, she is still our suspect for now until we carry out a proper investigation on the corpse. We need some time to study the statements, but the expert’s opinion is to carry out a postmortem on the body which we are going to do. I can assure you that the command will do the needful in order to get to the root of the incident,” he said.

World Cup already overflowing with entertainment, endeavour and emotion, the game between Ghana and Germany on Saturday was a particular joy.

A vibrant, pulsating 90 minutes of fluctuating fortunes, every attack seemed to promise goals, every player was striving his utmost, every moment was utterly compelling.
Around the stadium, the thousands of Brazilians in attendance were, to a man, woman and child, backing Ghana. This wasn’t simply out of a natural inclination to support the underdog. It was as much driven by the possibility that this Ghanaian side might deliver the shock of the tournament. Until a last minute equaliser, they really did look as if they were going to beat the mighty Germans.
What a game this was. Played in great spirit, without play-acting or subterfuge; despite the relentless pressure only one participant was shown the yellow card. To look away for a second was to risk missing a vital plot development: never mind England’s pitiful showing, this was football as it should be played. This was the World Cup at its best, the perfect advertisement for the sport’s virtues.
After the game, Akwasi Appiah, the quietly spoken Ghanaian coach, seemed the calmest man in a stadium still vibrating with excitement.
“Ghanaians have a strong mentality in football,” he said. “We always believe we have to fight to the end never mind what happens initially.”
A few hours after Appiah and his players had left the stadium, glowing in satisfaction at having so demonstratively fought to the end, the story broke in the Daily Telegraph that the chairman of the Ghana Football Association had been filmed by undercover reporters negotiating with match fixers. As his players were giving their all in the attempt to progress in the competition, their boss Kwesi Nyantake appeared happy to let his team play in games that others were prepared to rig.
How depressing was that news. There, on the pitch in Brazil, was a group of Ghanaians giving their all for their national pride, while in a hotel suite in Miami the man at the head of their game was happy to compromise all their excellence for a few quid. What’s worse, he seemed utterly relaxed about the process, as if it were merely part of his brief.
As an example of the apparent corruption gnawing away at the soul of the game, it could not have been more ill-timed. Ghana’s footballers had just provided a breathless spectacle of group hunger, determination and pride. Their nation’s FA president had countered that with what appeared to be a breath-taking display of individual greed.
There is no suggestion that any of Ghana’s games in this World Cup have been so tainted. Indeed, it would be impossible to imagination a game less contrived than Saturday’s wonderful display. That is the joy of football: as many a movie director has found out, the naturally achieved contours of its drama simply cannot be scripted.
Yet, alarmingly, the Ghanaian FA president seemed happy to make the attempt. He was utterly shameless in the compromise of his players’ integrity as he appeared willing to arrange friendlies through an agency that would employ corrupt match officials in order to nobble the result.
For the fans and reporters packing Fortaleza’s newly constructed stadium, this was the most disheartening coda to the match. The build-up to the World Cup had been pockmarked by the whiff of corruption. For much of the past year, the streets of Brazil have thrummed with protest that the competition was not to be the engine of economic development promised, but was instead a hugely expensive circus, played out in over-priced white elephant stadia. Its beneficiaries were not the poor or down-trodden, but the blazer-clad bureaucrats of Fifa.
In its demonstration of human endeavour, spirit and sportsmanship, the Ghanaians and Germans on Saturday gave vivid challenge Saturday to that assumption. Here was something pure, decent, good, something worth striving for. And all the time, the man supposed to be one of the game’s custodians appeared willing to compromise its integrity. Rarely has there been a more pertinent example of lions led by a donkey than in the Ghanaian FA.

I Contemplated Having Abortion – Ghanaian actress

luckie-lawson

When actress, Luckie Lawson, got pregnant for the first time, she found herself in a serious quandary.

She had to decide whether to carry the baby to term or get rid of the pregnancy and pursue her dream career.
“It was not an easy decision for me because my acting career had just started. I had shot my first movie which was out and I had Nigerian producers calling me for movie roles.
“At that point, I was confused and disturbed and wished for two things to happen. Either the ground open up for me to enter or someone tap my shoulders and tell me it was a dream”, she told Showbiz.
“I knew that having a child at that time was not the best decision for me to take. I was not mentally ready and opportunities in acting had just begun opening up for me. Yet, I braved it and decided to have the baby because I did not believe in abortion. I do not know how to create a life so I would not waste one”, she said.
“I had toiled and gone through a lot before having my breakthrough in my first movie and I felt that at long last, God had answered my prayer and I was about enjoying the fruits of my labour. So when I got to know I was pregnant, I got angry and hated myself for not protecting myself.
“I called my man and spoke my mind blaming him for everything. I got so furious and told him that I was not ready for motherhood but he asked me to wait for some weeks. After a few days, I began playing with my tummy and the feeling was great so I decided to keep it.” she said.
Even though Luckie’s friends were in support of her keeping the pregnancy and promised to give her all the support she needed, she said she was worried about the status of her mother in church.
“My mom is an elder in the church and a role model to the youth. She always preached about chastity so her daughter doing the opposite to the extent of getting pregnant out of wedlock got her angry and disappointed.
“She lost her trust in me but as time went on, she grew to love me and accepted the pregnancy especially when she realised that the man responsible was ever ready to take up responsibilities as a father and a husband”, she said.
“My decision to keep the child and seeing him grow tells me that, it is one of the best decision I have ever taken and I have no regret at all looking at how being a family woman has helped shaped my life”.
Luckie Lawson started as an actress but has moved on to become a producer with two movies to her credit.
Her first movie was Silence Is Golden which featured Ramsey Nuoah and Chika Ike, while the second was Familiar Strangers which starred Prince David Osei, Roselyn Ngissah, John Dumelo and Nana Ama McBrown.
She is the winner of the maiden edition of the Spirited Actor reality show which was partly organised in the USA.
Some of the movies she has featured in are, College Girls, Efia and Friends, Royal Palace,The King Is Mine, Frozen Emotion and I Sing of a Well.
