GFA Vows To Take UK Newspaper, Telegraph To Court Over Match-Fixing Allegation

Kwesi-Nyantakyi1
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) says it is dragging the UK newspaper, Telegraph to court to prove allegations its president agreed to fix international matches involving the Black Stars.Kwasi Nyantakyi is incensed by a report he described as “inaccurate”, a “representation of half truths and half lies.”
The football fraternity has been hit by a scandal in which the Telegraph newspaper alleged both in print and online that Ghana’s FA president had agreed to fix matches.

A secret video recording of the meeting accompanied the story which was posted on the telegraph website.
The report claimed “TheTelegraph and Channel 4’s Dispatches launched a six-month investigation into match-fixing after receiving information that some football associations were working with criminal gangs looking to rig scores in international games.
Reporters from The Telegraph and a former Fifa investigator claimed they represented aninvestment company that wanted to “sponsor” games. Christopher Forsythe, a registered Fifa agent, along with Obed Nketiah, a senior figure in the Ghanaian FA, boasted that they could employ corrupt officials who would rig matches played by Ghana.
The president of the country’s football association then met the undercover reporter and investigator, along with Mr Forsythe and Mr Nketiah, and agreed a contract which would see the team play in the rigged matches, in return for payment.
While admitting he met the men involved, Ghana’s FA president said the circumstances under which the meeting was held had been totally misrepresented.
He explained that he met the representatives of the supposed company because of an offer to buy the rights to organise international matches for Ghana, and not to fix them.
He said at no point in that meeting was the assertion of a match fixing made.
“It is not true we have arranged with match fixers,” he swore, insisting the report was not only to impugn his integrity but that of the country.
He said a supposed contract that was to give the rights to the company to organise international matches on behalf of Ghana had been forwarded to the legal committee of the GFA to consider and advice.  That advice was yet to come, he clarified.
Among other invectives, the FA chairman believed the publication by The Telegraph is part of aracist agenda by some English press to divert attention from their poor showing at the World Cup and to “rubbish the achievements of Africans”.
This matter must be resolved in court, he stated adding he will “provide them an opportunity to answer in court.”
The FA spokesperson Ibrahim Sannie Daara told Joy News the Telegraph report was a “crude cut and paste job done” by the newspaper and the website.
He explained the supposed representatives of the company together with Obed Nketiah invaded Ghana’s training ground in Miami, US, without an appointment but the FA president decided to meet with them out of courtesy for the Ghanaian who was with them.
He said the reps came to follow up on the proposal by the company to buy the rights to organise international friendly matches for Ghana and they were told by the FA president that he had not seen the contract which was sent to the FA’s legal team and that the contract was yet to be approved.
Sannie Daara said the Telegraph report deliberately cut out the portion in which the FA president said that the FA’s legal team was looking at the contract and would respond accordingly.
He said contrary to the Telegraph report in UK that a contract had been signed with the Ghana FA to fix international matches, no contract had been signed and that the contract before the FA’s legal committee is a contract to organise international matches and not to fix matches.
The FA spokesperson said they have reported the case to FIFA, CAF and the IGP and soon the two Ghanaian representatives who allegedly met the company on behalf of the FA will be picked up.
He said the Telegraph is now “clutching at straws” and making unfounded allegations.
He said the report has had a toll on the players but said they are trying hard to insulate the players from the situation.
Meanwhile, lawyers for the two Ghanaians involved in the scandal have also described the Telegraph report as “half-baked”.
A statement issued by their solicitor, Tua Yeboah Alfred said they will take action at the appropriate time.

The actress debunked the rumour and stated that she is not in any romantic relationship with any man at the moment, including the former Commissioner at Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), who is also a Pastor.

In an chat with Nigeriafilms.com, when contacted, expressed anger over the speculation and explained that she has more important issues to handle than having a secret affair with an opposite sex. She also stated that as a blunt person, if such was true, she would have boldly presented the man in her life to the public.

“If I am sleeping with any man, it is not an affair because I am entitled to be married. It cannot become an affair because I am not married and my husband is dead. Secondly, I don’t have any man in my life and I don’t intend to have any man. I have friends and I am entitled to my own friends like you,” she told Nigeriafilms.com.

Speaking further, Mama G said, “It is really annoying when people begin to talk about you with things you never thought of doing. So, to clear the air, I don’t have any man in my life but friends; both males and females and I am working hard to make a living for myself so that nobody will say he/she is affecting my life.”

The actress further denied knowing Pastor Michael Diden a.k.a Ejele, or planning a secret marriage.

“I don’t even know the person you guys are talking about. At this age, I shouldn't be thinking about having a lover. Instead, I should be thinking how to work seriously to make Nigeria grow,” she said.

Hot Mug Shot Guy Gets Actual Modeling Offers, But There's Only One Problem ...

Jeremy Meeks, a.k.a. Hot Mug Shot Guy, stands to make tens of thousands of dollars simply for looking like the hot gangster he is, according to one modeling agency.
The only problem? He'd have to get out of a jail cell first.

Jeremy Meeks Pics

He looks hot in orange. No one can take away from him. That fiery color definitely suits his personality ... and likely will for years to come. But seriously folks.
An agency TMZ spoke to claims they can book Meeks with high-end fashion houses such as Versace and Armani for gigs worth $15-30K a month, easy.
Blaze Modelz says "gangster models" are totally in right now.
Jeremy Meeks' face tattoos - even the gang-revealing teardrop - aren't even drawbacks as far as they're concerned, but rather are looked at as edgy and sexy.
The Crip tattoo on his neck? Maybe they didn't see that one.
Blaze is probably very serious, too. Another modeling agency also plans to make an offer to Meeks once he becomes a free man. Well, if he becomes one.
The man the Internet fell for after his dreamy booking photo went viral last week does not have a sterling reputation, charming as those gang tats are.
Meeks is currently being held on $900,000 bail, however, a sum he's not exactly gonna pull together to get sprung this week or next. Kind of the point.
He was busted on felony gun charges in his hometown of Stockton, Calif., and is a convicted criminal as it is, making serious weapons charges even more so.
Here's hoping he ages well for his future career's sake.

Osaze: Nigeria can reach final

Odemwingie: Nigeria can reach final
Having recovered from a slow start, the Stoke City forward believes that the Super Eagles have the potential to all the way to July's showpiece.

Peter Odemwingie sees no reason why Nigeria are not capable of reaching the World Cup final, if they play to their potential.

The Stoke City forward scored the only goal of the game against Bosnia-Herzegovina on Saturday to put Nigeria on the verge of qualifying for the last 16 in Brazil.

Odemwingie believes Nigeria have what it takes to go all the way to the final and the 32-year-old revealed that he is not the only one who is optimistic about their chances.

"I saw a Brazilian on the street who told me he foresaw Nigeria playing the final against Brazil and I said to myself 'why not', going by the level of our players and the fact that they are yet to peak," he said.

"But mark my words - we have a very resilient defence, a creative midfield and an attack force that can trouble any defence in the world. If we played to our potentials, we can go all the way."

The African champions only need a point against Argentina at Estadio Beira-Rio on Wednesday to ensure they will progress from Group F along with their opponents, and they will also be guaranteed to go through if Iran fail to beat Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Nigeria have not featured beyond the group stage of a World Cup since 1998.
