Lupita Nyong’o: “The red carpet feels like a war zone”

Lupitanyongovogue
Lupita Nyong’o was a breath of fresh air when she debuted on the scene to begin promoting Steve McQueen‘s 12 Years a Slave. It was not just about her lovable smile but her red carpet choices.

Couture after couture, she won our hearts.

Rocking the cover of Vogue America for its July 2014 issue, she speaks on break out year, winning the Oscar, her new roles, and being the face ofLancĂ´me, as well as her red carpet style.

Read excerpts;

On fully realizing she is now a celebrity: “I felt how valuable and vital such representation is. It just feels like the entertainment industry exploded into my life. People who seemed so distant all of a sudden were right in front of me and recognizing me – before I recognized them!” Recalling an incident at an airport, she said, “For a split second I looked behind me to see who they were flashing at – and it was me! That was, I think, the beginning of the end of my anonymity.”

On selecting red carpet dresses: “It’s a job; it’s work, you know! We’d just try, try, try, try, try, try, try. At first it was very daunting, but I ended up really having fun with it…especially for the bigger awards, the dress let me know it was going to be worn. It’s quite scary when you fall in love with a dress, because it’s nothing to do with your brain. It’s like a gut reaction.”

On her fashion marathon: “Everyone said, ‘Brace yourself, Lupita! Keep a granola bar in that clutch of yours!’ I didn’t really understand what they meant, and it was only once it was past that I realized that my body had been holding on by a thread to get through this very intense experience. Nothing can prepare you for awards season. The red carpet feels like a war zone, except you cannot fly or fight; you just have to stand there and take it. I hope they don’t make that the big quote! Because that would be sad! Tell them not to do that!”

On her role in 12 Years a Slave: “I was really nervous about seeing myself in 12 Years a Slave because it had been such a profound experience in all ways. I remember it being one of the most joyful times in my life—and also one of the most sorrowful. I didn’t want my experience to be a vain one. But I will say that when I watched it, my heartstrings were pulled so tight for Solomon that I couldn’t go into the ego trip. I cried – I mean, I was inconsolable. I wept for an hour after the movie.”

On her Oscar win: “I had already gotten the nomination, which was truly, truly astounding, and enough. Even in my dreams of being an actor, my dream was not in the celebrity. My dream was in the work that I wanted to do. And when her name was read out she said it was “very confusing, very numbing. I was just repeating my name in my head, so I didn’t know whether I had said my name or they had said my name! And then my little brother screamed, and time was suspended and it was just noise in my head.” As she climbed the steps she made sure not to fall, “it’s not cute if you follow Jennifer Lawrence - it’s not cute if you’re the second one!” “People are still filling me in on what happened after. My mother says I cried during the speech; I don’t believe her.”

On Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s Americanah: “The book blew me away. This was a project I wanted to work on, and I pursued it with all my being. It’s an unabashedly romantic book, really inspiring and uplifting. I found myself in her pages.”

The publication also confirmed her relationship with Somali-born rapper K’naan. He is famous for composing “Wavin’ Flag” that became the official 2010 World Cup song.

Nigerian female drummer, Aralola Olumuyiwa popularly known as Ara has revealed how she predicted the death of the late singer, Kefee.

She told Best of Nollywood’s chat forum saying:
“I want to use this forum to appeal to my colleagues in the music industry. Less than two years ago, I had a dream about Keffee and immediately called her and narrated it to her, I also appealed to her not to make a joke of it….the rest is history.
Early this year, I had a dream and contacted Efe of NOW music as he’s the only one I could call and told him to please organise a forum for all musicians to assemble and pray against death amongst us (please confirm from Efe). It’s sad we had to lose my girlfriend, sister and colleague…so sad.
When a revelation comes like that, it means there is a way out. Once again, we need to come together as a body under one roof to rebuke and pray about this revelation I had early this year. Yes, we all have different sources of prayer but this is a prayer we all must observe together.
I beg you all. I didn’t want to speak out but I have no choice than to”.
Meanwhile it would be recalled in an interview Ara granted in March 2014, the singer who was quoted as saying: “I don’t even have to sleep to see something. I think it has to do with my spiritual aspect. I fast a lot. My life off stage is an entirely different one. I actually attend the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries and if you can’t pray, you don’t attend MFM. It is a do-it-yourself church – which has helped me greatly."
Kefee after 15 days in a coma at Desert Spring Hospital, Las Vegas.

Rihanna loses yet another man as drake is to father a baby from another Mama

MediaTakeOut.com just got word that rapper Drake MAY HAVE A BABY – a 2 year old BOY named Aubrey. Details are JUST COMING IN, but a Detroit video model has reached out to Drizzy (through her STREET CONNECTIONS) and told him that her 2 year old boy IS DRAKE’S. The woman, we’re told is asking for $20K a month in child support.

Talk about a RATCHET – she didn’t even use a LAWYER to contact Drizzy and em . . . she used a STREET DUDE. LOL, what a MESS!!!

World's most handsome criminal? Women plan on bailing Convicted Felon after seeing his mugshot

Meeks has attracted more than 24,000 likes and 6,000 comments on the Stockton Police's Facebook page since getting popped on weapons charges.
He was snared in the department's Operation Ceasefire sweep, conducted due to a recent increase in shootings and robberies in the Weston Ranch area.
While the charges against Jeremy Meeks and three others arrested in the operation are no laughing matter, people posting comments on his picture are loving it.
A commenter summed up the feelings of many observers with the remark, "Could have been a model, a[n] actor!" Instead, "What bad decisions he made."
One hashtagged the picture #hottiethug, while another woman pointed out his "beautiful eyes" and said she wanted to be locked up with him any day.
We assume (and hope) she's kidding.
Another suggested a spinoff series called The Bachelor in Jail if he was the leading man, which we have to admit we would probably watch at this point.
There's not a lot on in the summer.

Our own Toolz wasn't left out as she gushed about his looks..However, his mum claims he is no longer a criminal but was arrested because of tattoos..
He is already been photoshopped into Calvin Klein Ads...

Lessons to Learn Before You Turn 30

1.Develop A Skill And Perfect It

The most successful people everywhere in the world look back to decisions they made in their twenties as those that put their lives on the path to success. If you want to be a caterer, stop waiting for money to go for classes. Volunteer to work weekends for free at a catering company around you. If you want to learn web design, and you’re broke, go to w3 schools online or meet a friend who is a web designer. If you want to be a writer, start a blog. Read what you need to read now and apply the knowledge. The time you’re wasting, thinking about how to start will haunt you in future.

2.Don’t Wait For Money To Pursue Your Dream

If you want to do business, you can volunteer to work on weekends at the type of business you want to do. If you want a job in a particular industry and you can’t easily get it, apply for a 6-12 month internship and start work. It will open opportunities for you later and is a lot better than sitting at home. Waiting makes you mentally weak and drains all energy and hope from you.

3.Start Saving And Investing Your Money Now

The best years to accumulate compound interest on any investment are in your twenties. Waiting till you get a job will make things much harder in future. Save what you can, no matter how little. Even if it is small, you would have developed a valuable habit.

4.Start Before You’re Ready

Remember in your twenties, you have few responsibilities besides yourself. Many people in their twenties are unmarried and without kids. So, go ahead. Take a risk. Feel free to pursue your dreams earnestly. If you make a mistake and go totally broke. No one will die because of it. At worst you’ll move back in with your parents, think about your life for a week and get back into life without a major disaster. It is better to learn through experience than just sitting in fear of what you’re not sure exists.

5.Learn What To Expect In The Future From Older, More Experienced People

Older people are around you for a reason. Their knowledge is valuable. They can save you years of pain if you learn from them. Ask them questions. Take advantage of their experience to avoid the mistakes they made and move your life forward with wisdom. Get into the habit of asking people older and more experienced than you questions like, “What do you wish you had known when you were my age?” or “What are the things you wish you started doing when you were my age?” You will be surprised at how helpful this will be over the course of your life.

6.Develop Valuable Relationships

Choose the friends you want to keep in your life. Cut the friends that suck the life out of your emotions and your resources, but never add any value to your life. Create professional relationships too. If you’re in a job, find superiors in your company who can be mentors. If you’re in a business, find conferences and associations in your business where you can meet mentors. Remember that the greatest influences on your future success are the relationships you have.

7.Don’t Forget To Enjoy The Process

The road to achieving your goals requires focus—a lot of focus. And this focus can make you lose sight of the beautiful things in life. I attended a seminar in April 2013 where Maneesh Garg, CEO of Nagode industries spoke about the lessons he learnt through his life. There was a time period allowed for asking questions. I asked him, “Sir, if you could do it over again, what would you wish you had known before starting?” His answer was disarming. He said, “I would take time to enjoy the process.” This is coming from a man whose company did N24bn turnover in 2011. Take time to enjoy the path to success. Although the top is good, it can also be lonely. So, make friends. Go out. Have fun with your loved ones. Create memories you want to remember in future. Let there be variety in your life.

8.Show Love To Your Family

A client who lost her dad last year told me in a state of mourning, “Don’t take your parents for granted. Before you know it, they are gone.” Family is too important to take lightly. Say the important things you want to say, which you know they need to hear. If you don’t, you will regret it. If there are disputes in your family, try everything within your power to reconcile. Forgive them. Ask to be forgiven. Call a third party if necessary. Life is too short to keep grudges with the people we should love the most. When they are gone, you will wish you had the wisdom to reconcile.

9.Have A Good Relationship With God

When you’re in your twenties, many times there is a certain feeling of uncertainty. You keep wondering how your life will turn out, whether you’ll find a good life partner, whether you’ll get a good job, whether your business will be successful and so on. This can be stressful. You need a place of certainty. A place where you can be certain of a love that is real and unconditional. And that is God. Your relationship with God gives you a balanced perspective on life and peace in your heart. This is more valuable than any success you will ever get.

Think about a friend who really needs this. Copy the link from the address bar and send it directly to him or her or scroll down and share it on Facebook and Twitter.

Goodluck...

Bosnia Is Better Than Nigeria - Croatian Manager

Croatian coach Luka Bonacic
Croatian coach Luka Bonacic has blasted coach Stephen Keshi for the lackluster display of the Super Eagles against Iran in its first group match and insisted that Bosnia will overcome Nigeria on Saturday.

"Iran and Nigeria have played so bad that the game would be taken at any one point, and do not enter a point in the standings. Queiroz has confirmed his Iranian players are worse than the team is.

"The Nigerian coach was no better. Two coaches are the biggest culprits as the game was boring, I think the worst so far during the tournament, regret the result is best for the country.

"Before the championship I thought that BiH is a step ahead of Nigeria, but their step now has a length of seven miles,"

Luka Bonacic said.

Bosnia has chosen to head straight to El Salvador to keep a date with Iran immediately after its game with Nigeria instead of returning to its base camp.

Chris Brown: Karrueche Tran is THE ONE!

Newly-freed R&B superstar Chris Brown is going all out to make Karrueche Tran's dreams come true from the sounds of it. She's apparently The One!
Karrueche Tran, Chris
He's spending every spare second with his live-in girlfriend, showering her with affection, and even taking her advice when it comes to his crew.
Chris also made a very public declaration of his undying love for Kae when he posted the picture above on Thursday, captioning it, “She a real one!”
Is she the one for him for life? He didn't go that far, but it's certainly trending that direction as Chris makes good on his promise to take care of Karrueche.
When he was in rehab and jail, she stood by him. He hasn't forgotten.
“The most important things are that he listens to her and gives her his time. When she suggests they go out to eat, he goes. No questions asked," says a source.
"He’s just like, ‘OK, babe.’ It's the little things, you know."
He's also changing bigger things for Karrueche Tran.
“She told him how she felt about guys he used to hang with, and voila, they’re not in the picture," the insider dishes, adding that he takes her seriously.
"When he’s not in the studio or with his lawyer or doing something relating to work and his career, he’s home with her. It’s a great connection they have.”
As we've reported, he's determined not to go back to jail and to clean up his life so that he can make good on that goal. Sounds like he's on the right track.
Conveniently, with a woman like this by his side, there's little reason to leave the house anyway. Have you seen that booty pic on Instagram? Damn, girl.

Yvonne Nelson’s Father Revealed

yvonne nelson
Actress Yvonne Nelson has always been talking good about her mum. When its mother’s day, its all about her and when its father’s day when she should be praising her dad, its still all about her mum taking the fatherly duty upon herself. This led to the question “Where is Yvonne Nelson’s father?”
Well, Ghanacelebreties.com has investigated about the actresses’ dad and this is what they say;

Yvonne Nelson’s total disregard for her father on several occasions with her last week’s Father’s day tweets being the recent got some of us wondering where the actress’ father could be—and why she seems to be bitter towards him.

As we mentioned, we started talking to our many sources and so far, we gather that Yvonne Nelson’s real father is Mr. Oko Nelson who lives in Dansoman, just near Mr. Biggs.
In fact, we hear he is the owner of Nellies Guest House in Dansoman — a very respectable man. From our sources, Yvonne Nelson occasionally drives her VW down there to see her father, so there seems to be some off the limelight relationship between the two.(GhanaVibes)
