Jay Z and Solange Knowles have officially addressed the infamous fight
that broke out in an elevator May 5, then nearly broke the Internet a
week later.
Solange, the younger sister of Jay's wife Beyonce, and the rapper/mogul
say in a joint statement that both parties are to blame for the
violence episode:
Solange Knowles-Jay Z Fight:
Jay Z, Solange, and Beyonce released the statement moments ago, saying,
"Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has
occurred."
"They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has
played out in the public. They both have apologized to each other and we
have moved forward as a united family."
"Reports of Solange being intoxicated or displaying erratic behavior
throughout that evening are simply false. At the end of the day families
have problems and we're no different."
"We love each other and above all we are family,"
the statement reads.
"We've put this behind us and hope everyone else will do the same."
Good for them. Here's hoping it's true and not just good-sounding PR.
The statement doesn't explain what led to
Solange attacking Jay Z in the elevator that night, but both Jay and Solange say they have worked through it.
There are many theories, from
Rachel Roy's relationship with Jay to his refusal to help her career to Solange's mental state and even more far-fetched ones:
Solange Has a Drinking Problem?
Many have pointed out that the fight took
place at the end of a very long night of partying, and Solange may have
been drunk at the time of the event. Reactions from those around her
suggest this sort of thing happens often.
