Dangers of Soft Drink; The Risks in Long habitual intake of soft drinks
It has been experimentally proved that soft drinks are one of the prominent reasons for obesity. The weight gain is directly related to the amount of soft drink that a person takes in. With every single can, people unknowingly add many extra calories to their body weight.
* Another very common effect of soft drinks is diabetes. With every can of soft drink, people add large amount of sugar in their body. Long habitual intake of soft drinks can lead to ineffective insulin production from pancreases which consequently affect the sugar level in the body. This further leads to diabetes.
* It has been proved that frequent consumption of soft drink can lead to weakening of the bones and osteoporosis. Soft drinks impair the calcification of the growing bones in children.
* Studies also say that soft drinks increase the risk of tooth decay. The acidic content of soft drinks can dissolve the tooth enamel and make them weaker. It is recommended that people should avoid taking soft drinks between meals to prevent dental erosion and tooth decay.
* This fact may shock you, but is quite true. Researches have proved that constant and habitual intake of soft drink can lead to kidney stones formation. This happens because of the acidic and mineral radical balance. The body tries to buffer the acidity caused by the soft drinks with the calcium from the bones. This leads to calcium erosion, which ultimately gets settled in the kidney in the form of stones.
* Soft drink also leads to impaired digestive system. Soft drink contains phosphoric acid which competes with the hydrochloric acid present in stomach and affects its functioning. The ineffectiveness of stomach leads to undigested food which further causes indigestion and gassiness.
* Soft drinks cause dehydration in the body. Both the sugar and caffeine components of soft drinks are dehydrating agents. They both lead to excess urination, which makes you thirstier than before.
* Soft drinks have strong caffeine content. Caffeine causes irritability, restlessness, tension, high blood pressure, excessive urination and other side effects. It is also believed that soft drinks increase blood pressure. Some studies also claim that soft drink has harmful effects on liver.
* The sweetener used in soft drinks is Aspartame. It is 200 times sweeter than normal sugar and is far more harmful with many side effects.
Next time, when head towards the refrigerator or a store to satiate your thirst with a can of soft drink, make sure you remind yourself of all the side effects that gulping down the beverage will bring forth.

SEE Why Embattled Interior Minister Blames Doctors, Bankers, Teachers, Others For Recruitment Stampede
Interior Minister, Abba Moro has absolved himself from any blame
over last Saturday’s stampede at the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS)
recruitment centres across the nation, instead, he blamed the tragic
incident on doctors, nurses, bankers, teachers and others in paid
employment.
* Embattled Minister of Interior, Abba Moro
According to him, these already employed individuals thronged the various recruitment centres in their numbers.
No fewer than 19 applicants, including four expectant women, died in the stampede. Many others were injured.
Moro said though these categories of persons never applied for jobs with the NIS, they gate-crashed into the venues of the recruitment, with the hope of getting foreign postings and being pensionable if employed by the NIS.
Moro’s aide, Mallam Salisu Dantata Muhammed, who spoke on behalf of his boss in Abuja yesterday, said contrary to reports, the ministry put in place logistics to contain crowds at the centres.
He also blamed the social media for the stampede, saying that many of the applicants were inviting friends and relatives who did not apply for the job to the centres through Facebook, text messages and other portals.
Muhammed said: “It’s odd that many of those who turned up included employed bankers, engineers, medical doctors, nurses, teachers and others who wanted to cross over to the Immigration Services at all costs.
“The Minister and officials of his ministry considered last Saturday’s incident as very regrettable, more so as the unexpected huge crowd shattered the near perfect arrangements they had put in place against anticipated huge crowd.
“The Interior Ministry made adequate provisions for the expected mammoth crowd at the National Stadium meant to conveniently sit 75,000 people." (Naij)

Big Girl Rejects A Man Bcos He Is “Poor”; Now She Wants Him After Knowing He’s Rich -
Ladies, please stop putting money ahead of everything. Here’s the story as shared by Ada Okeke: My cousin (male) came home last Christmas looking for a wife, I told him about my girlfriend and we agreed to invite her over so that he can see her. At last he liked her, collected her phone number from me. But here is the deal between me and him, he made it clear to me never to disclose what he does for a living to her now, but rather I should tell her he is a security man living in Mushin. (note: he is a rich business man but he is afraid to disclose his identity now, because according to him, he is looking for a lady that will love him for whom he is and not for what he is). They met, he told her the same thing. After everything she came to me to know whether it’s true, I told her yes but that she should give him a chance, and try to know him very well. My girlfriend told me she is not interested, that she is not ready for marriage yet… I tried all my best to convince her but to no avail, I let go! Later he found another lady, paid her bride price last February, they are planning for their traditional marriage soon. Now, I don’t know how my girlfriend ran into him and discovered he is a rich business guy. She called me and gave me the insult of my life. Her reason is that I shouldn’t have lied to her in the first place, knowing fully well we are friends… that a friend is not supposed to lie to a friend. Her sisters called me and told me the same thing. But when I tried to explain things, they hung the phone on me. I am planning to go over to their place today to explain things to her sisters and apologise too, but my own sisters are still with the opinion that I did nothing wrong…. What do you think? Did I do the right or the wrong thing? -
