Ebola: New York Records First Case

A 33-year old New York Doctor who recently returned from Ebola-hit Guinea in West Africa has tested positive for the disease.

Dr Craig Spencer, treated Ebola patients while working for the charity Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) in the country. He left Guinea on 14 October, and returned to New York City on 17 October. But on Tuesday he began to feel tired and developed a fever and diarrhoea on Thursday.

Suspecting it could be the virus, he immediately contacted medical services and was taken to the city's Bellevue Hospital, where he is being kept in isolation.

He is the first Ebola case diagnosed in New York, and the fourth in the US.

Kim Kardashian: I Cringe at Old Photos of Myself and Like Waohhh!

Kim Kardashian, reality star, fashion icon, global celebrity and multi-millionaire, admits that she cringes when looking back at old photos of herself.

In an interview with Telegraph's Fashion online magazine, she says:

"I look back at old photos and I want to cringe when I matched, like ... turquoise eye shadow with turquoise sweater with turquoise flowers in my hair."

"Like, I was so bizarre. If I could go back [in time] I'd just be classic."

"That's why I try to dress my daughter classic so she can look back at her baby pictures when she's older and know that she was dressed so simple and cute."

Indeed, you can watch Keeping Up With the Kardashians online and scour the Internet for any outfit Kim has ever worn, so it's not like she can forget them.

Most of us can just move on without that kind of digital footprint.

Of course, that's also why Kim is so fabulously famous and wealthy, and most of the time, she looks pretty darn perfect when she leaves the house.

Inside it, though, is where Kardashian feels truly comfortable.

"I wear sweats every night around the house," she reveals.

"When I am exhausted I go on vacation and rejuvenate, wear no makeup and hardly brush my hair. Then I come back refreshed and wanting to do my hair and make-up."

Just In: Fire Outbreak At Lagos Airport

 
DailyPost reported that the inferno which occurred few hours ago covered the second floor of the terminal of MMIA, before it was swiftly put out.

According to a source at the airport who didn’t want to be named, the fire started at the second floor of the terminal in the commercial department of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) during a surge in electricity supply.

The source said passengers and other airport users at the departure hall ran helter-skelter to safety.

Meanwhile, normalcy is gradually returning as the fire has been extinguished while airport officials and passengers are going about their activities.

According to ThisDay, the inferno which reportedly engulfed the second floor of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) terminal was allegedly caused by power surge. It was gathered that the fire was quickly put out before serious damage was caused.

According to PUNCH Metro, tthe 25-year-old victim sustained a deep cut on his face after the encounter.

The matter, which was said to have been reported at the Sango Police Station, was however, said to have been dismissed by the police authorities.

Bolaji, an indigene of Ewekoro area of the state, told our correspondent he wanted justice in the matter.

He said he had alighted from his car to make withdrawal from the bank’s ATM when he decided to ease himself.

He said, “I was coming from Ifo with a neighbour. But, on our way, I discovered I was cash-strapped, and needed to make a withdrawal. So, we stopped by at Alisaba, in Ado Odo Ota where the bank is located.

“We parked outside their premises and on getting to the ATM, the security guard said there was no network.

“I was so pressed that I had to urinate beside my car. Before I knew it, a policeman, came out and without any questioning, hit me with his rod. I asked him what I did wrong, but instead of a reply, he slapped me.

“The man in my car and some other security men around the bank came out to intervene. My neighbour was trying to question the policeman on why he slapped me, instead, he cocked his gun and pointed it at me, and I had to run away.

“I told people to caution him not to fire a shot. I was just a bit unfortunate that he caught me at a close corner and I did not have an escape route. He used the butt of the gun to hit me on my face and I sustained a deep cut.”

He said he was rushed to a hospital because he could not go to the station with a blood-stained face.

After treatment, Ogidan said he reported at the Sango Police Station but was disappointed as the police asked him to settle the matter with the police officer.

He said, “The police changed the story and said I and my friend were drunk, and we were peeing around the whole premises without having any transaction in the bank, which were all lies.

“At the end of the day, the police said we should go and settle and the police officer should pay my hospital bill.

“We were also forced to make a statement of withdrawal. I don’t want this matter to die like this because I have been harassed unjustly.”

Another eyewitness, who claimed to be the man with Ogidan in the car, Mr. Kehinde Idowu, corroborated the story.

He said that the police officer had first chased Ogidan around the premises with the gun before hitting his face with its butt.

He added, “We will still take up the matter. I was personally disappointed at what the police told us at the station, but you know in Nigeria if you don’t know anybody, you will just suffer in vain.”

The Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, told our correspondent he was not aware of the incident.

He said, “If they disappointed him in Ota, he should have gone to the Commissioner of Police. It is if the CP disappoints him that he should approach the press for justice. We should try to educate our people. I can’t confirm the story because I am not aware. Let him come to the command and I will personally investigate it and make sure he gets justice.”

Kim Kardashian: My Daughter Will Work and Earn Her Own Money

The reality star tells London Evening Standard’s ES magazine that her daughter won’t be raised with a figurative silver spoon in her mouth.

Kim, after all, came from wealth, yet still has to earn her own way for awhile.

"We didn’t get anything [from my parents], we had to get a job if we wanted it," Kim explains. "So I was working in a clothing store and I would save and save."

She cites $400 Prada shoes that she saved a whole year to buy, along with a Dolce & Gabbana dress she “really wanted” in high school.

So even though North West allegedly already owns a gold toilet and $1 million worth of jewelry, Kim makes it very clear: her child will get a job once she's of age.

"She will have to work for what she wants," Kardashian says simply.

In what industry?

"She loves fashion. Maybe she’ll be a designer," Kim muses. "Who knows? It’s too early to tell."

Well, yeah. She's not even 18 months old.

Kardashian could also picture her child getting into music, sharing the following story with the magazine:

"The best is when Kanye’s recording in the home and we’re in Mexico or whatever. And the music will be upstairs and she’ll hear it, and it’s really loud and you’d think it would disturb her, but I just kind of rock her to it, and she’ll just pass out.”
