These days people want fame, and will choose
fame over anything, the sad part is most people who want to be famous
don’t even have a plan. They look up to the lavish and show-off
lifestyles that famous people are living on someone’s pocket. Big
Brother Africa since it’s inception has been one of the many ways most
people including celebrities think they could extend their art to Africa
and the funny part of is, 99% of them come back to something they never
wished for.
We hear Big Brother Africa is coming on again
and people showing interest in it. Then again, why would anyone waste three months of their
time fighting over something that has no strategy or plan?
Let’s take a look at some Ghanaian
celebrities who came back from the show with shattered dreams and their
dreams of ever becoming an African star lasted only for 15 minutes.
Let’s take a walk
BOMAYE
He came through with his American accent, thinking that was what it
takes the win the competition, he failed badly. Got kicked to the curb,
came home to start his own reality show which was heavily criticized
because it lacked substance and had too much adult scenes.
KWAKU T
Just like Bomaye, he thought American slangs
was the way out. He was kicked to the curb and lost everything he worked
hard for. He is hardly recognized in Ghana and we hear he has moved to
South Africa to pursue a radio career.
ELIKEM
The only thing Elikem gained from the show was probably getting a
woman to marry. He wasted a whole three months and not even a promised
date was given to him. He claimed he inked a deal to cloth the Black
Stars but we doubt he will sell a shirt for a $1,000 — even the players
haven’t been paid. His fame lasted only for two minutes until recently
that he proposed at the Ghana Music Awards just as we know for
attention.
EAZZY
She had a music career which wasn’t bad at
all. She thought Big Brother was the right shot for her to take her
music to Africa but your guess is as good as ours, she went and
embarrassed herself, had sex on TV. Came back and lied to us about
inking deals in South Africa and more. We never saw any of them coming
to pass … her boyfriend who she went into the show with, Keitta also
dumped her … poor Eazzy!
CONFIDENCE
By far, the oldest woman to take part in the show (she actually lied
about her age in the show). She went and showed her “fake boobs” to the
world, her English even sucks, I don’t know whose idea was it for her to
take part but she was dropped weeks after in the show, came back to a
big disgrace and her business started falling, her Night Club which was
the hottest was never the same.
MIMI
She calls herself “divalish” but the truth is
we don’t see that in her. After the show, she was lucky to get a hit
song thanks to the magic hands of Richie and the exceptional writing
skills from Chase but that was just hit, she released a couple of
singles, tried other businesses and even changed her name but none of
them favored her … Sigh!
SELLY
She is by far the “saddest” of them all, she was a nobody and thought
Big Brother Africa was her best shot to fame. She went into and had sex
with a guy who claims she gave him an STD. She came back, lied about
the “jiggy” bit and threatened to sue the guy. Faded singer, Praye
Tietia had no choice than to take her like that *sobs* — she claims she
has been in a couple of movies but we don’t know if it’s every going to
be released.
KEITTA
Another useless fella who thought taking
advantage of singer Eazzy and Big Brother Africa was his way to stardom.
Keitta claimed he was a fashion designer but nobody have seen what he
designs yet. He went into the show to exhibit his dirty lifestyle. He
came out, tried music — failed — tried selling t-shirts — failed — tried
to use his brother’s (Reggie Rockstones) club and fame — failed —- dude
actually said he was going to change the Ghanaian entertainment
industry, our only question is, how was he planning to do that with his
talentless ass? SMH .. talk is cheap, they said!
DKB
He was an aspiring comedian who was on his
way to the top, He took part in the show and his ugly attitude got him
sacked. Whilst in the show he talked about how he used to steal stuff
from Shoprite. He also slapped a girl who he claims came to peep whilst
he was bathing. This got him disqualified. DKB’s comedy career was never
the same. His fame was short-lived just like each of the above.
SAMMY B
He is by far the only person who is still on his grind after the
show. Maybe or not, his career didn’t depend on it. He has been in the
game twice. Still does commercials for Globacom, does his radio gig and
his occasional song releases.
What people need to know is, the organizers of these shows are
making millions from people’s stupidity, thinking it will make them
famous, none of these guys ever won but wasted their precious time in
the show. Fame is not the only way my fellow Ghanaians. A report after
the recent Big Brother Africa show had it that they made over
$10,Million from the show whilst over 15 grown men and women are
fighting over less than 1% of that money, having sex and showing their
nudes for the whole of Africa to see. (GhanaVibes)
